Steele's Journal Entry
I received Aureli today! I've been expecting her for a while now, but even so I didn't have everything prepared! It feels like I just got her and am already behind, hehe. She is so sweet and quiet. I thought at first that she would be crying while I prepared her room for her, but she just watched me with those big green eyes from her crib. I guess part of it was because her brother wasn't far off. I hope she doesn't get separation anxiety.

I need to talk to Brit about sleeping arrangements. I think that at first they should share a crib, at least until they get used to thier new surroundings. I hope babyfood is acceptable. I want to make thier food out of fresh stuff instead of premade, but it's all I have on hand at the moment. I hope it doesn't make her sick to her tummy.

Aureli and I have had a busy week! I went by the HQ and Aureli got to meet Gwen and Prana while we were there. All the guardians we met were very polite and I think it won't be too difficult for me to become comfortable around them. It's a trust thing... I can get over that though for Aureli.

This weekend we visited my side of the family. They all think she is the most adorable baby. Of course they say that about all of my kids, but that's not important. Aureli seems to be naturally cautious around new people, but after a bit she brightened up. I'm glad to see her able to come out of her shyness.

Steele's Journal Entry
Yesterday the whole family went for some early trick or treating! Aureli was dressed up like a flower for the festivities. Tomorrow I've got a butterfly costume for her to wear! She was so cute in her stroller. Lada and Lilka were with me for the fun, while Brit took Keita and Cypris with her. Today we will be going for a family picnic! This is why I love holidays!

((cross-posted to Lilka, Ladanya, and GMFC diaries))

Steele's Journal Entry
Halloween was rather interesting this year. Britain and I took the whole family to Johnny K. Gambino's mansion for the party he was throwing. We took up residence in the garden for the picnic we had packed. Britain went as the Caterpillar and I as the March Hare from Alice in Wonderland. Keita and Aureli weren't in costume as they were bound to sleep most of the day. Cypris was elegant as a Victorian gentleman, Lilka was dressed as a fairy where she covered herself in glitter, and Ladanya was Scarlett O'Hara in the green velvet dress. We rented the dress... well until we ended up actually paying for it. But that comes later.

Lilka fell out of the willow tree while climbing it with Cypris. She was evidently trying to get down from there and decided to jump. Thank the Gods that she didn't have anything worse than minor scratches from that fall.

When the terror started Keita and Aureli were the first to alert us with thier crying. We didn't really know what was going on till we heard the screams and alarms begin to sound.

I guess you could say it was either maternal instinct or insanity, but Brit and I grabbed the kids from where they were playing and moved into the chaos. We should have left, but we didn't think much at that time about it. Into the mansion we went just as the doors and windows sealed shut and the place went into a lock down mode. It's not the safest environment for children, but then I we didn't really consider that. The chandeliers came down and revealed several loaded machine guns. At least Gambino armed his guest. I had my daggers ready and Brit was armed as well.

That was when the Zombies appeared from the basement. And this is why science and death should never mix. It brings people death and chaos.

The girls stayed behind us while Cypris looked ahead with us like the responsible man he is growing up to be. We had the twins on our backs when the girls screamed- we turned; I remember the look of my family at that moment. Brit was so pale I thought she would be sick, and the fear in my children's eyes made me angry at what caused it. The monsters, those things that moved in the remnants of festivities moved in an unnatural way. Thier skin turned a sickening shade of green and thier eyes lost all emotion. It was as if thier souls were gone and an empty shell moved towards us.

Brit unloaded a few rounds into the creatures, they coudl be shot, but it barely held them back. I slipped out of Aureli's carrier and handed her over to Ladanya. Moving through the creatures I cut hands legs, knees, anything that got in my way. The parts that were severed kept moving. We had to get out of the house.

I remember Brit snapping at me. "Get out of there! You don't have a gun! Come back here and help me with the kids!" She yelled at me.

I don't curse around the kids, but I believe I didn't really care at the time whether I did or not. I moved the kids farther into the mansion. There is one thing good about being part water elemental- if it wants to there is nothing that can keep water from getting out. All I needed was a water main close enough.

A zombie broke through our little circle, grabbing for Ladanya. Brit and I turned, it was like time stood still. My Lada screamed. The human body is 75% water. The corpse exploded, leaving only messy parts there.

At the foyer we found Mr. Gambino arming his guest personally. At least those people unzombiefied would find a way to stay that way. Brit grabed a couple of shot guns and as much ammo as we could carry safely. The kids were too young and too frightened to use a gun, and Lada's terrified eyes spoke for her. It was best if only Britain and myself were armed.

I wanted out of the mansion. The water pipes would have to leave and enter somewhere in the maze of a house. Lilka fell behind us just slightly and was almost grabbed by a zombie, but a girl who Brit says might have been from the clinic blew the creature away before we could act. It was nice to know that there were people helping others in the disaster that lay before us.

We moved quickly and as quietly as we coould. If we found guns in the halls we raided them for ammo- Brit informed me that we'd need it. The black areas of the house however changed our luck. The zombies waited there like the sick creatures of the night they were. We were quickly surrounded. I moved the kids into a corner, it is nice to know that there is one less thing you need to pay attention to. Whe I tried to get Brit behind me she refused. She's a much better shot that I am.

I'm not much on guns, but to watch the petite woman work was facinating. Magic and knifes are my specialty, but her aim is better than most I've seen, especially in the situation we were in. I beemed with pride at her work.

It was too much.

Brit tried to block the zombies with her body. It was the stupidest thing I have ever seen her do. She was not only putting herself in danger, but our unborn child as well. Ladanya screamed. A zombi had his hands on my little girl. She tried to pull away, but when it fell it clawed into her beautiful costume and tore the skirt almost from the waist. I guess training finally kicked in or the terror of it all got to her cause she picked up the closest thing to her and used a leftover shotgun from a dead man's hand to unload the rounds into the zombies around her.

Everything moved so quickly it takes me a while to retrace my steps out of that place. Brit and I had both been scratched, clawed, and hurt from fighting our way through the zombies that posed such a threat to us. I was anxious to get out. I felt wrong and we had to move as far from the darkness of the Mansion as possible.

We found ourselves in the lab at some point. I guess it was the place where it all began. It felt like one of the dungeons of my siblings homes. Memories buried deep seemed to stir in me at that place. It's not something I like to talk about.

I guess I got swept up in those memories, because there is a gap where nothing made sense to me. Lilka and the twins were screaming in terror. It all seemed so funny to me. I laughed at Lada- I still don't recall what I had said to her or rather what she said to me that made me laugh in that place. It was then that Lilka screamed, grabbing the closet thing to her and throwing it at us with all of her might.

She saved us from ourselves. The small vial of green liquid shattered on us and we knew that we had been infected with the virus that was turning the people into monsters. I know now that the kids were scared of us. I don't know how they will ever trust us again. Like the Lycanthropes of home zombie bites turn those bitten into zombies. I should have realized it earlier, we would have been able to aviod more trauma on our children. We grabbed as many of those precious vials as we could carry and kept moving.

Any time we saw someone who seemed capable of making a difference- strong, with the ability to use a gun- zombiefied, we forced vials at them. It was like building an army, and we told each where we'd found the vials, spreading the movement against the zombies. Finally I found the main pipeline that ran through the house! Both hands against the plastered wall I drew the water from the line. I could fee the pipes give way and the water draw to my hands. The water exploded into the room soaking everyone in the vacinity. The water moved and shaped into a battering ran that effortlessly slammed into the wall infront of us.

Brit screamed and I turned. The force of water running through my viens both myself and the water I brought forth turned in unison. A zombie had snatched Keita from Brit's carrier. Cypris was already there. I never thought much about Lilka and Cypris being angels, but then I'm polytheistic in my beliefs. Brit has told me that he's been reading up on the subject and decided to follow Christianity- his blue eyes were very calm as he raised his little hand, the cross brit had bought at his request dangling from where it's chain was wrapped around his fingers. "In the name of God, return to the ground." When the cross touched the monster it began to burn. The zombie burnt like rotting meat, and the stench was sickening from it.

Knowing that it was handled I turned and continued to concentrate on the task at hand. The plaster gave a crack and with force the wall gave way to blessed light.

We survived the ordeal, but all of us will have scars that live in our minds from it. I don't know how this is going to effect the children as they grow, but I know that it will probably be quite a while till any of us get to sleep at night. Lada refuses to give up the shotgun she's declared 'hers.' Lilka refuses to sleep unless the closet light is left on and she is with Cypris, and the twins- well Aureli and Keita cry at night and sleep in the day. I guess we are going to have to change our own schedule as well.

Steele's Journal Entry
All of us are recovering from the Halloween incident. I wanted to try and make things a bit better for the younger kids. Aureli's actually sleeping at night again, thank the Gods, so I took Aureli to the park today while a friend watched the other children for me. It was so sweet! She kept trying to knaw on the clover leaves in the grass.

When I feed her she refuses to eat any meat babyfoods, but I expected as much. Deer-like child + Meat = stomach ache and grouchy baby.

It was so peaceful out there with her, well until she crawled through an ant bed. Needless to say we didn't stick around the park much longer. I was lucky to find a waterhose near by. I can keep her from scratching, but she's miserable now. The doctor says it's minor and gave me an oinment to put on her. I think it will be a while before we play in the park again- I'll probably take ant bait out there sometime later this week to keep this from happening again.

Things have finally gotten back to normal as we prepare for Thanksgiving with all the family. Brit and I are hosting it at our place. I believe she's planning on inviting a few friends of the family over as well. I'm planning on having Aureli help me with the cranberry sauce. It will make for a mess, but I think it will be a big stress relief to see her so happy when the company comes over. It will be interesting to see which of us comes out with more stains ^_^

Orphne
A young woman sidles down the walkway with a light paper parcel in hand, a neat crimson, satin ribbon fastened about the exterior. Waya clings to her shirt hem as the pair stroll up to the front door and set the parcel down.

The little wolf-boy sifts through a pouch at his side and pulls out a small piece of parchment, tucks it under the knot in the ribbon, and smiles up at Orphne. He leans forward as the woman backs away slowly, and he stabs the doorbell with a quick jab of his finger, then dodges out of the way and runs down the walk to catch up with his mother.

The two kiss the house good-bye and race eachother cheerily down the street to the next home.

Inside the note they

Happy Holidays to Orasteele and Aureli!

We did a little shopping after Thanksgiving and thought we'd pick out something special for each of the families this year. We wish you a jolly Christmas, a happy Hannukah, a merry Kwanzaa, and good tidings during the holiday season. Enjoy!

Much love,
Waya and Orphne

We recieved a gift today from Orphne and Waya! It was so nice of them! I think Aureli and I will have to go shopping soon for holiday gifts for everyone.

Poor Aureli was so scared today at the HQ. I'm kinda unsure why, but I think it is something that will pass. She's normally timid when it comes to new people and there were a lot of people there. I do hope this is something that she will grow out of, but I think the deer instinct will always come first, like the fact that her active time is at dusk, night, and dawn.

Aureli has taken to Britain's newest addition to the family Liotti. She follows him around the house I've knoticed. I'm trying to understand what the small child sees in this cold creature, but I've seen her sit in the dark watching the moon with him. I guess it's that he's so quiet. I'm glad she's opening up to the rest of the family besides Keita, but it's odd that she clings to the newest addition so much.

each is different and unique
which can cause change that you seek

these are gifts you must use with care
because reversal is none awares

((Aureli and I would like to open the gift please ^_^))

Steele came home with the small box in one hand and Aureli on the other. The cog floated next to Aureli. Since recieving it the 'thing', as Steele called it, had helped Aureli with her walking and some of her basic motor skills. She now refered to Keita as Kei, Liotti as Lio and the Cog, named Atratus, Atra. The words cup, dindin, and shleepy were in frequent effect too. Aureli would pull herself up and with some leaning on Atra she would walk till she fell back into a crawl. It pleased Steele that the mechanical thing would infact be useful.

Steele turned the box in her hand and read the tag again. A magical item perhaps? The words can cause change that you seek...these are gifts you must use with care...because reversal is none awares made Steele nervous about using the gift, but at the same time, her normally cautious child pulled on the string laughing as she tangled Atra up in it. "Well what have we got to loose huh Aureli?" Big eyes and a laughing smile lifted Steele's worries as she opened the box.

Inside was a fist sized violet crystal. "That's a strange gift, don't you think? But then again..." Steele grew up where magic was easy to do and use. Crystals often held enchantments as small storage devices that held the magic till it was needed. "I think I want to examin this a bit more before we put it to use." She watched as Aureli giggled and reached out for the crystal.

"Good idea. One should never use something if they don't know what it does first." Piped up Atratus. He didn't talk to Steele much, but when it had to do with Aureli, well that was another matter.

Steele gently set the crystal back in the box and put it in the top draw of Aureli's dresser. It was a place where she knew her baby couldn't get to it, and everyone else would stay out of. It was time to give her brother a call and see what he thought. Afterall, they hadn't talked in years, he was bound to know something about it, and want to know more.

Faevan
"Go on." Faevan parked her car by the curb, checking the address again. "This is it."

Prana nodded her head, getting out of the car and carefully carrying a small cardboard box with little holes in it. A muffled "ribbit" drifted out of one of the holes, and she left it gently on the doorstep with a smile, turning back to the car. On top of the box, she left a note. It fluttered in the breeze as the Legend and her Guardian drove away into the afternoon.

Note for Aureli

Hi Aureli,
I caught these yesterday when I was out with my Mom, and thought you might like to have one. Please take good care of him.

Aureli took the box in hand and giggled as Steele gently took it from her. "Look what Prana gave you!" Steele said taking the small frog from the box.

"Fwoggi!"

"Yep! That's right!" Steele beamed at her child as she carefully put it in a tank for it. "So what are you going to name it?"

Aureli smiled brightly. "Atra name!" Steele was so happy to see that the fandangle was actually doing what she hoped.

The cog floated up to examine the frog. "Perhaps we should call it Ribbit? The motor skills of my young mistress should be able to handle that." He floated back down to Aureli's level. "Name the frog Ribbit."

"Wibbit!"

((RP in ME&F pgs.237-247))

Steele's Journal Entry
Well since Atratus has joined our home he's been insistant on teaching her her basics. Though lately some wierd stuff has been happening. It seems as if whatever happens to the Fandangle also effects my little girl. Just yesterday we were at the ME&F when the most horrible thing occured. It seems that Moorg has been keeping some interesting experiments in private rooms. The door to the room opened, and from within a fear like that I had never known effected us all. Aureli screamed as I have not heard since the terrible incident over halloween.

At some point the containment that held whatever it was that was causing the fear back was shattered. I'm worried that my baby may have been effected by it. She looked so pale for a while there that I thought she came down with the flu, but then all those bonded to fandangles looked like that. That was when she started screaming again as if in pain. I hate feeling helpless. I'm taking her to the doctor today to see if she's alright.

The only good thing to come of this was a liquid light that seems to keep her happy. Atratus was worried about it at first, but the light stopped her crying. She's calling it Blub.

((RP with Britain over AIM))

The house was surprisingly dark. It was never so dark, so early- usually Brit was up for an hour or so more yet, putting the last kids to bed and setting the house to rights. Instead, most all of the lights were out...and the house was almost disturbingly quiet.

Steele walked cautiously through the dark house. She didn't plan on coming home early, but the other run that was planed was put off by a sudden security influx in the place. The house didn't feel right at all, too many lights out, and no sound of a late night movie playing. Pulling a dagger just in case she needed it, Steele ascended the steps to the bedroom that she shared with Brit.

Making just enough noise to not get knifed, a slender figure slipped out of Cypris' room and closed the door. Golden eyes flashed in what little light illuminated the hallway- the person was too tall to be Brit. Calm, the figure flipped on the hall switch- it was Vitree, the mouse-girl-boy who had taken charge of all of the Tahnees in the house.

"Good, you're home," He said softly, tucking one heavy curl behind his ear. "We were starting to get a little worried."

"What the hell is going on here." Steele said with sincere concern as she put the dagger back into her boot. "Is everything alright? The house is never this dark this early in the night."

"That's what we wanted to talk to you about," the mouse said softly, as Felrias poked his head out of Cypris' room to make sure everything was alright before ducking back inside. "Britain sat down with the children for a movie about three hours ago...fell right asleep, and can't be woken. I may not be a doctor, but I know exhaustion when I see it."

"Where is she now? The idiot should know better than to try and do everything." Steele had to keep calm, a panic would just not do at a time like this. "Have you sent for a healer? I know a doctor may not be able to help, but a healer might. I should have never left the house. I knew something was wrong."

Vitree grabbed Steele by the arms, fully aware it wasn't the wisest idea, and shook her gently. "Steele! You must calm down. She is asleep on the sofa- we thought it best to let her sleep. No doctor or healer can help her, now- she is simply exhausted, and has too much on her hands. She will wear herself to the bone if something doesn't change soon."

Steele glared at Vitree but nodded in agreement. He was right, there wasn't anything Steele could do but let her sleep. "Vitree, gather all of the Tahnee and meet me in my study. We are assigning permanent babysitters. I won't have this happen to her again. She shouldn't have to worry anymore if everyone is alright." Steele knew Brit wouldn't like the lack of say in this decision, but that didn't really bother Steele that much either.

A faint smile touched the boy's lips, and he nodded slightly. "Moat are already in the house- we were going to suggest the same, if you did not. Give me five minutes." He opened the door behind him to give what sounded like an order even in a whisper to Felrias, then disappeared down the hall. The children slowly flooded in the direction of the study, waiting expectantly for her attention.

Steele pulled out a sheet of parchment from one of her drawers and a bottle of ink. Dipping her pen she quickly wrote out all the names of their children. "Alright, as you all know Brit has been trying to do it all so to speak. Therefore I'm assigning each of you to a child or pair of children to be their permanent sitter when Brit or I am unavailable. And if Brit complains then send her to me."

"Aureli and Keita must each have their own," Felrias spoke up, shaking his head. "They sleep too erratically. No one of us can keep up with both." There were a few cynically amused faces in the back- mainly vampire-types- but most nodded in agreement. "We've already chosen a few pairings...But I myself am beginning to get out of my depth with Cypris."

"Very well, I'll keep that in mind. Acorn & Maddick, I'm assigning the two of you Aureli and Keita. You two seem the most obvious choice for the two of them. Cyrithi you get Frei, I'm sure you can keep him happy. The thule will have Fore and Montreal as their guides. You two should be able to handle them." Steele quickly wrote the names down and scanned the room over again. "Wrath I'm putting you in charge of Liotti and Eggu, that should prove easy enough for you. It's low enough maintenance that I'm sure you can handle it."

"I'd prefer that Felrias and Jordain were left free to give general lessons to all of the children," Vitree interjected, and shrugged. "I'm usually busy keeping track of everyone, but if necessary I can take someone too."

"Don't be so quick to martyr yourself, Vitree," a low, amused voice rang from the back of the room. Verrato raised his dark eyes to look them over, arching one delicate eyebrow. "I shall take Lilka, and Tellesin has volunteered to take Cypris. Let it not be said that we are...unwilling to do our part."

Half the room blinked at the dark Tahnee and his paler shadow for a moment, then Vitree turned his surprised self back to Steele. "Okay, I think that handles THAT part of the list...most of the others aren't suited to handling kids. I'll take Ransom- his empathy isn't usually a problem around me."

"Alright then, I think that handles that! Thank you all for your assistance." Steele quickly filled in the blanks with the names of the volunteers and made a second copy. "If one of you for some reason cannot care for your charge please make arrangements with one of the Tahnee not already enlisted. Here Vitree, please post this in the Tahnee house so that everyone knows what to do. I'll post my copy near the children's quarters. Get some rest everyone, your jobs start as soon as your charge is awake."

Heads nodded all around, and the room slowly emptied. After a brief word with Verrato, Vitree returned to Steele with quiet steps. "Verrato is moving Britain to your room- he's so quiet, she'll never wake. There is...one other thing, though."

"What else Vitree?" she asked her voice sounding tired.

A gentle hand touched her shoulder, and he sighed. "Steele, you're never home. It was one thing, from what I can see, when she was working...but the night-children are seeing more of you than she is. I plan to suggest that she go back to work- she was happy there- but right now, what she really needs is you."

"Believe me I know that. I'll be home for the next few nights either way.... Go to bed Vitree. I'll think I'll go do the same."

"Alright," he said softly, rubbing at his eyes. His voice carried some heavy doubts...but he was willing to give her the chance. "All of the children are in bed- you don't have to worry about them tonight."
