It was early evening byt the time that they arrived home. The sun had set and the moon had managed to fight its way through the clouds. Mecca let them into the house and started to light the lamps in the kitchen.
Scimitar bounded off into the kitchen as he was let off his leash.
He started to sniff around searching for something apatising to chew on.
Giving up he charged back to Covet and started to bark as he could smell the meat she was carrying.

"Hush hound, or I will not give you anything to eat," she said sternly, struggling not to smile at him. Meepo began to chortle from his perch on her shoulder and she ignored them both as she went to set their groceries down.
"Hmm... and to think, you always preferred quiet a quiet life," she smirked at Mecca as she deposited Meepo down to the floor and straightened to start unwrapping the fresh meat.

"I didn't ask for a noisy puppy or an irritating furball." He smirked leaning against the counter. He watched her for a moment and started to tease Scimitar with his foot. "Though I suppose it makes life much more interesting." He smirked and moved his fot back as Scim sneezed again sending a miniture ball of fire to the floor where it died s soon as it hit the stone.

Covet made light work of preparing the meat for Scim and set it down in a corner, well out of the way, and then made up a mixture of vegetables for Meepo. When she was finished with the animals, she walked up to Mecca and slipped her arms around him as she leaned into him with a small smirk.
"Or an irritating singer," she smirked, looking down as she slipped one of his hands into hers. "Though I suppose it does make life more interesting," she agreed, lifting her eyes to his and his hand to her lips.

Mecca looked down at her and smirked.
"You do not sing around me, and I think irritating is the wrong work."
As her lips touched his hand he pulled her closer and smirked again.
"Occasionaly difficult." He said with a low laugh. "Though I would rather argue with you than waste my life sitting alone reading stuffy books. Sadists have feelings too you know!"

"I don't know about that," she smirked, her lips brushing his skin. "I think you're just a glutton for punishment," she teased, digging her nails into his crimson flesh and biting one of his fingers hard. She liked it when he laughed. It was a rare and quite beautiful sound even if it lacked merriment. She always found it to be pleasing to her ears.
"I think I'm going to go to bed early this evening. Care to join me?" she asked with a loaded smirk as she started to pull away from him.
