Sweet, I love Miyasaki too. But you suck for not liking disney. Disney is childhood. WHERE IS YOUR CHILDHOOD -flails arms- YOU KNOW. TWO YEARS AGO YOU WERE 18. IT SEEMS LIKE JUST YESTERDAY.

IT SEEMS LIKE JUST YESTERDAY. my child hood is back when I was a child. Disney is ok for like 1-8 years old, then people need to be moving their kids on to some other G rated movies that have some better, more original story lines and characters. Seriously, Disney promotes this simpleton view of the world that everything is in black and white, good guys are always pure and bad guys are always completely that, choose a side, and good guys always win, there is always a definite and happy ending and all the bad guys are defeated and the guy gets the girl. It promotes this us vs them mentality, the same mentality that makes people unable to see both sides of a conflict, even when we're not the one of the sides in it. It's always, one of them is bad, one is good, choose a side....hippies. When you keep you kids on that bullshit storyline (and it is that same exact storyline every time with them) up until their like 14? ******** that, why don't you just blender their brains yourself? I actually at one time could lay out a plot overview that fit pretty much like 90% of all Disney movies....from memory. That's why I like Miyasaki so much, most of his movies are a break from that repetitive, thought killing slush that disney pumps out just to keep the money rolling in. Almost nowhere will you find a completely evil and completely good character when he writes a story about such conversations. You can choose who you see as a villain, but at the same time you are shown how they are not as well as how the are. His stories cover some hard subjects when they are not targeted at the under 10 audience, and they always make you think and they never give a definite ending. My basic comparison to Disney versus Miyasaki is this: Miyasaki = Manga version of Nausicaa of the valley of the wind Disney = film version of the same.

My basic comparison to Disney versus Miyasaki is this: Miyasaki = Manga version of Nausicaa of the valley of the wind Disney = film version of the same. DISNEY IS HAPPY. WERE YOU NOT HAPPY? I KNOW THAT YOU WERE. ONCE. BECAUSE YOU QUOTED ATLANTIS OR SOMETHING. I NEVER WATCHED THE MOVIE. I ONLY LIKE DONALD DUCK. DONALD DUCK. EPIC. -FLAILS ARMS- You have a point though. I assume you are referring to the recent garbage that Disney vomits out. Yes, I agree it is trash, but some things can't be discarded. When I make 400 babies, I'm going to have them watch The Lion King 800 times, twice for each baby. (Btw, nobody watches disney till they're 14, lulz.) After they've grown out of Disney, I'm going to ******** force feed them Ghibili, because Miyasaki's s**t is ******** pwnage, kill all ******** naysayers. Best Ghibili ever, Princess Mononoke, I watched it when I was 12 and I cried. My mom and dad didn't get the movie, though it was aimed for adults. Runner up, My Neighbor Toroto. Cat Bus = Ingenious. I have not watched Chronicles of Earthsea, bt it was done buy Goro, so it should be good. Oh yeah, now that we're talking about Ghibili, I've been meaning to ask you this question for, like, 3 years: Was the Ohmu clan based on the woodlice-like creatures (of the same name) from Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind?

yes, yes it is.
Although I do believe they pronounce it Ooh-m, or something like that.
Mine is pronounced more like it is spelled, Oh-moo.
Also, yes, Mononoke is the best anime movie I have ever seen (most mind bending goes to the Eva movie).
It's in my top 5 for all time.

Best anime movies I've ever seen, ever, ever.
Princess Mononoke Akira Ghost in Shell Steam Boy Those kenshin movies. Way better than the series.
Spirited Away/Sen to Chihiro doesn't go on my top 5, but it definitely inspired me way more the any of the ones above.
Lols, I'm going to stop cluttering the intro thread >>
