"Rivera! Lookee!"

"What is it, Ves?" Vesper was jumping up and down again, holding up a poster. "Hmm?" Rivera looked at the paper in the Draclite's hand. "You are invited to a ball... at the haunted mansion... off campus. Bring your friends, bring your date, bring... what's this?"

"It says draclite!" Vesper chirped, "I drew it in with the humanly language called English!"

"Your D is backwards, kiddo." Rivera sighed. "I'm definitely going. Kira already asked me... why do you think I have this dress out?" She pointed to a pure white, strapless gown. Lace cascaded down the skirts, sparkling with crystals and seed pearl drops. The skirts went to the top of her toes and was made to trail out behind. It was made of silk, but made durable and spelled against stains or soiling. "Have you seen my headband?"

"The white one with the crystals?" Vesper held it up. The head band had lace along the edges too.

"Yeah, that's it... now the necklace--" She caught herself in the mirror, looking at the choker at her throat... Kira's aura... why did she never take that thing off?

"That doesn't explain why I don't ever take it off." She replied, "It doesn't feel right... if I were to go without it." Rivera touched her hand to the crystal drops under the silver buckle. With this, she wore the lavish robes of a goddess... but without, she was naked before the world. Taking her dress to her walk-in closet, she undressed and slipped it on, feeling the silky texture of the pure white cloth against her skin. She was sure to also take a sheer white poncho with her when she emerged. No need for anyone to look at the scars. But something was still... oh, right.

"Vesper, you mind helping me with the back?" She asked the Draclite, who instantly nodded. She felt the child's hands tighten the white ribbons that laced up her back and struggle to tie the knot.

"I dont' know how to tie knots... um..." She looked at Kira. The little draclite was blatantly lying. She wanted to give Kira a chance to do something.

"Uh... thank you..." Rivera blushed. If there was one thing she was when she came back from the realm of the gods... it was human. She was certainly much more human than she was after a 2k-year nap and full cybernetic transplants. Her eyes shifted to a pale pink in embarassment. "You... you don't look too bad yourself..." She didn't know why she trailed off shyly at the end. She just did. It was as if it were instinct. The Draclite nodded. Great... first step was to make Rivera dependent on Kira instead of herself. Even if she does have her memories back, they were still mostly locked up. She can't immediately access them without a powerful prompt of some sort... usually a physical action.

Rivera blushed even more. Why the hell am I so embarrassed? She thought as she shyly placed her hand in Kira's. The silky sashes flaring out from the back of her dress made her appear as a pure, white butterfly. The sleeves that went with the dress were not attached to the main dress. They were more or less tied on with the lace up ribbons on the sides, secured at the middle of her upper arm. The lace decked surface and the flowing white ridges matched the elegance of her sashes. Rivera stepped into her shoes, a pair of graceful white strapped sandals. She didn't like highheeled shoes very much, so she settled for a two inch heel instead of the usual four or five inches a girl might like to wear. They weren't even pointy stilleto style heels, they had a base surface area of at least one square inch.

"um... yes, let's go..." Rivera whispered, feeling her heart pound. Vesper stifled a giggle and snapped her fingers. Her tunic and shorts vanished, to be replaced with black and gold midriff halter top with a matching mini-skirt, all tiger striped. She had a cat eared headband as well, and there was a bell dangling from her spiked, black leather choker. Vesper was a dragon-kitty for halloween.

Autumn was really in full bloom and about to die with the falling leaves. The orange layer on the ground made a nice impression on flames scattered all about beneath their extinguished torches. The gray-blue sky was busy, full of the passing planes or the endless rows of migrating birds. It was a wonder that no one's installed an aerial traffic control for the birds as well as the planes. November was the entrance into winter...

Rivera woke up to the first rays of dawn through her window. She blinked sleepily like a cat and gave a small, silent yawn before she turned over and closed her eyes again, snuggling closer to the man beside her. Usually, she'd get up quickly and go train, but with Kira next to her, she turned into the lazy-bones every other happens to be. Vesper was in her miniature form, as small as an electric pencil sharpener and sleeping on a miniature bed Rivera had specially made for her. Her tail swished back and forth as she slept, silently swinging below the edge of her pink and gold heart-design comforter.

"It's too early to be good morning..." Rivera mumbled as she rested her head against Kira's collarbone, enjoying his warm presence. Lying there against him was definitely a reward for her hard work yesterday, cramming for a Essential Charms exam that she finally realized wasn't until another maybe week or two. She didn't understand any of the stuff on portals or about how to make the three different basic portals from scratch. Kira seemed to naturally have all the info on it, being a person who was forever using shadow portals, so she asked him for help. He wasn't a bad teacher at all, actually. But when she went back to check her notebook for lecture notes and saw the [test rescheduled to the week after thanksgiving] scribble in the margin, she just closed her notebook and fell asleep still sitting up at the table, putting an end to the crazy cramfest at eleven o'clock. Vesper was long asleep before then, having crashed at ten till nine.

Current mission status for Kira had been written down on the whiteboard at the foot of her bed. Days left: 15. Current relationship: teddy bear. Whatever THAT was supposed to mean.

"Do you have any lectures today?" Rivera asked without opening her eyes. "Without that test, I have the day off..." She rested her forhead against his chest for a moment before she sat up slowly and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. At that instant, Vesper jumped out of bed with a loud "GOOD MORNING SUNSHINE! Get up lazybones, breakfast in ten!" The draclite seemingly zipped in and out of the bathroom, changing seemingly instantaneously. Rivera smiled apologetically at Kira. Vesper was her alarm clock.

"Heh, I don't know why you take so much interest in me." Rivera scoffed and grinned at him. "I'm not all that interesting." She cracked her spine and went to take a shower, setting out the customary plate of cookies on the table for Kira. This time, they were black and white chocolate chip cookies. Blood, milk, juice and wine are all the available beverages in the refridgerator. All of them are open access to Kira.

When she was done, she was dressed in a sleeveless black shirt with a turtleneck and a built in black leather belt collar around the outside. She wore her black skort on the bottom. It was like a tennis skirt, but with shorts, slightly laced hems and small slits up the sides. She was carrying a black leather coat over her shoulder and Kairyu in her free hand. "You can go if you want. Since we're both free... do you mind if we go out somewhere?"
