If Donner hadn't already done it, he would have surely been wetting himself then. His death was inevitable, he knew. Yet he still reduced himself to screaming in terror, going positively mad from it's prescence.

He was reduced to nothing, his mind broken, and gone. All he could do was babble about the psychotic angel, and curl his arms over his head in fright.

He waited, and babbled.

And he waited.

And he waited.

Slowly he realized that he wasn't dead, and he couldn't help but allow a fit of hysterical, manic laughter to escape him, and he scrambled around in the dirt, clawing at it like a mad creature, trying to scramble back to the forest. But he wasn't safe there, either. She was everywhere, watching him... Watching him.

He let out a scream as he scrambled into a tree, and he reeled away violently, scrambling onto two feet before falling again. He laughed manicly in the dirt, before curling himself into a fetal position. A wide, manic, terrified grin was forever plastered upon his features.

There was a sullen quiet, interrupted only by the soft, faraway sounds of singing, almost impossible for the human ear to hear. The two Archangels stared each other down, each waiting for the other to make their move before their battle began. A vibrant electricity hummed through the air between them.

Suddenly a shrill scream caught both of their attentions, and they looked down to see Donner getting away. The two exchanged looks, before each dove for the curled up boy. Michael was easily the stronger flier of the two, and he scooped Donner up in his arms, carrying him off. Jada stopped in mid-flight, letting out a howl of anger.

"I will find you, Michael!" She screamed after him as he flew off. "Wherever you may take him, I will find him, and I will find you!"

It was true, and he knew it. Still, if he could find this boy safely home, and find some way to make Jada understand.. it was the only hope he could cling to.

He sped off into the mountains, taking a moment to ask for divine guidance before being led to the Dragonfly household with Donner in his arms. It was the first place she would look, but hopefully by then he would be ready.

Donner let out another ear-piercing shreek as Michael swept him up, and for several moments he thought that he was in the clutches of doom once again. However, when he found that he was still alive he relaxed- if only slightly. He babbled incoherently for several long moments, before frightened hysteric laughter burst from his lips again; then he fell limp in the angel's arms.

Dragonfly sat unawares on her balcony, gazing sullenly out towards the Durem Reclemation center. Her lips were pursed as she watched the strance weather circle in the sky, and she couldn't help but let a slow breath escape her.

Worry was set deep in her bones. Only once before had she ever seen weather like this, and it had been just as foreboding. This time, however, she felt much more closely connected to the crisis at hand.

Michael winced when the boy yelled. It looked as though the boy had gone mad; and it was no surprise. This was why the angels kept to themselves, and did not deal with the mortal world as much as possible. Jada was an exception, being born on the mortal realm and taken care of by mortals. Most angels knew that exposure to one as exalted would soon drive any mortal mad.

Of course, this boy was mad for more than just exposure.

Michael saw the balcony, and a woman sitting upon it. He would seem an odd sight, he was sure; he silently prayed that the woman wasn't a devout, for the sight of an angel descending upon them usually meant it was their time. As he continued to descend, his armor slowly faded in place of his more familiar, and less frightful looking, robes.

He touched upon the ledge of the balcony after hovering just above it, the ball of one foot set upon it's surface in a precarious balance. When his wings slowed to a halt, he took the further step off the balcony, and remained where he was so as not to alarm her.

"Please, if you know this boy, tell me." He murmured, his voice maddening in itself with it's ethereal tone.

Her eyes widened as she watched the descent of the golden form, and her jaw hung slightly agape, visibly awed by the other's prescence. However, as the other came closer, she took a step back from her railing, her body going stiff as she watched the other with calculating eyes. All of her suspicion was enflamed when she saw the other carrying the reindeer tahnee in his arms, and she gasped in shock.

"What on earth-" she whispered, before falling deathly silent as the other finally landed upon the railing, far too close for the half-demon's comfort.

She felt an unnatural coldness rise in her, and her slender ears drooped slightly, flattening subtly closer to her head. She tilted her head a little, gazing at him with her good eye, trying not to betray the awe she held for the other.

Quickly though, she felt she could trust the other, and all her suspicions melted away as the other spoke. Her eyes drooped slightly as she absorbed the sound, her ears twitching pleasurably from the tone; yet she felt a strange panic rise within her from it.

"It's Donner," she whispered, her eyes sliding shut, before she opened them once more and gazed at the other with her cool, unfrightened yellow eye.

"Please- tell me what's happened..." she whispered, taking a step closer to the other.

From this close he was able to distinguish her heritage, and his deeply grained loathing for demons kept him from coming to her with the boy the moment he said his name. Instead, he set the boy on a lawn chair nearby, and returned to the ledge.

"Donner has committed crimes against nature which are being judged. Fortunately, at the moment I am not the one to judge him; however, she who is has deemed his life the price, and he is no longer safe. I would ask that you keep him hidden as well as you can, until the matter has been settled. I fear more of my kind are on the way soon, and if no, he will be in grave danger."

The child of a demon? It figured. The only reason Michael had saved the life of the boy was to unsully the hands of the innocent angel now being used as a puppet of the power hungry. However, Michael's salvation was only temporary, and Donner was damned regardless. His judgement would come at his natural death, however. It was neither his duty nor Jada's to take the boy's life by force.

He stood upon the ledge, searching the skies. His strong demeanor held an aura of importance even as he did so. "Take him." He muttered under his breath to the woman, though his eyes remaines on the skies. He would defend this place, or fall trying.

Dragonfly continued to stare at the angel, before pursing her lips softly, and making her way over to Donner. She reached out and gently pulled the other into her arms, running her fingers through his bangs, and sighing heavily.

"You've really gotten yourself into s**t this time Don," she mumbled under her breath, feeling faintly disgusted by the reindeer's past acts.

However, she had committed her own crimes in the past.

She nodded absently to Michael's words, lifting Donner with inhuman strength that she hardly ever believed herself to possess, and began to carry the unconcious tahnee inside.

"I will hide him to the best of my extent," she whispered, "I... I am sorry for the trouble he has caused you. I sense that your losses may be far greater than his ever will be,"

In more familiar arms, Donner felt more secure. He burbled a little in his slumber, his hands clinging to what fabric of Dragonfly's shirt they could reach. His grasp went limp once more; however, and he drifted deeper into his unconciousness.

Dragonfly's words hit upon a truth she could not have possibly known, and Michael's eyes dropped from the heavens for a moment as he contemplated his 'losses'. After a heavy silence, a soft 'Thank you', left his lips. He would not have expected someone such as her to say such a thing, especially when her own son that suffered at that moment in her arms. Demon or not, for her to have enough clarity to see past the urges of motherhood truly meant something.

His eyes quickly lifted to the skies once more, and he stood there, still as a statue. The wind ruffled the thick locks of his hair, and tugged at the corners of his robe every so often; but the cold, bitter air didn't seem to bother him.

Here he would wait, and here he would pray. He prayed that God could still hear him, and that he had not forsaken him as the angels had declared. It would only be with God's mercy and grace alone that he had any hope of winning the battle to come.

Dragonfly smiled faintly in reply, before taking Donner quickly inside. Now a new problem was presented.

Where on earth did she hide Donner...?

"Many people will suffer needlessly for this," she growled, cursing Donner silently, before relenting, and giving the other's hand a faint squeeze.

"I only wish I had adopted you sooner. Maybe if you would have known a kinder hand things would not be as they are now," she whispered, "Now where on earth do I put you?"

Dragonfly bit her lip, harder than she would have liked; she was trying desparately to think of a solution. Where does one hide from God?

Hell.

But surely- she was only a half-demon. She'd never even attempted such a ludicrous idea. No, no that was surely out of the question. That would be subjecting Donner to a fate worse than death far earlier than he deserved.

"THINK DAMNIT!" her mind screamed at her, and she knit her eyebrows togethor, before letting out a shaky breath.

She'd have to hide him here. In the basement.

Vincent's basement.

Oh, he wouldn't be happy if he ever found out. But then what other choice did she have? And besides, it would be foolish to just come crashing through the floors of her home just for some wretch's soul. Right? They wouldn't seriously consider risking the lives of the other's in the home just to get at Donner, ...right?

She wasn't sure, but it was the only option she had.

Marcus hadn't made his way home for a long time after he and Jada had parted. He wasn't sure why- but he was frightened for her. Or maybe he was frightened exactly just for her, but he was scared, none the less.

It was almost like a part of her was gone. He'd never heard her voice so... So cold before. He shuddered to think of it, and he couldn't help but think that it was all his fault... If only he was stronger. If he hadn't gotten sick..

But that was silly. Everyone got sick. It couldn't have been his fault. It was that deranged sex-addicted reindeer's fault. Donner was ruining his life, slowly but surely.

He wasn't sure how much time had passed since leaving the orphanage, and the long trek home, but when he got there he couldn't help but feel a prickle of foreboding rise within him.

He cast it away though, shoving his hands into the pockets of his jeans, and rounding his home to the overgrown back yard. He'd always found solitude amongst the yellow grass and overgrown vines and foliage. Perhaps there he could calm his restless spirit, if only for a short while.

The poor Tahnee had no idea of what events were to come.

Though his eyes were on the heavens as he prayed and watched over the household, he was not foolish enough to keep an occasional glance to the paths below. Though it was rare to see an angel choose to walk, he knew that Jada was unlike any other angel. She was clever, just clever enough to think he wouldn't notice her if she walked up to the front door and knocked politely.

Therefore, as he caught sight of someone heading up towards the house, he stiffened. It wasn't her, nor was it any angel, but who it was surprised him. His eyes widened and he pushed off the ledge, his great golden tinged wings spread out, leaving a vast shadow on the ground below.

Only moments later he landed, taking a few steps toward the boy from the moment his feet touched the ground.

"You?" He whispered, incredulously. "You live here as well?"

Marcus was surprised, to say the least, when Michael descended upon him. His eyes widened a little, and he took a cautious step back, ever on his guard. Marcus had always been like that though.

He eyed the other suspiciously, mirroring Dragonfly's actions, carefully choosing his reply.

Marcus did remember his first encounter with the other, though the details were skewed, at best. He'd never had the greatest of memory at the best of times.

"What about me?" he replied gruffly, crossing his hands over his chest, his eyes narrowed at the other, "What's it to you where I live?"

Marcus was ever giving lip, but it never got him in nearly as much trouble as it seemed to get Donner into. Besides, Marcus was a better person than Donner was, deep down.
PostPosted: Sat Jan 07, 2006 2:02 am

Michael had no time nor patience to deal with troublesome teenagers and their rebellious ways. "You are the one Jada chose over her position. You are then the one dear to her heart, am I correct? Marcus, wasn't it?"

It all fit together perfectly. Whatever crimes Donner had committed, it had been against Marcus. This was why Jada was so quick to fall into the hands of the Archangels plans.

"You are aware of some transgression that one named Donner has done against you, are you not? I shall warn you now, when next you see Jada you must be cautious. She is not as she was, but it is not her fault. There are those who would see her used for their own devices, and she has been manipulated to believe that she now holds the power of vengeance. She has claimed the life of Donner.." At this he paused, feeling a sense of pity for having to explain all of this to him this way.

"And she will come for him here, once more. I stand ready to defend his house against her, but I have yet to be blessed with a true answer to the larger problem. Jada must be made to realize that she is not meant to be an angel of vengeance. Her soul must never be tainted by death, she is too pure for such a thing. If she succeeds in her goals, the lives of both Donner and myself will have fallen to her hands, and will torture her existence for all time. Marcus, if you know of any way I can stop this.. I plead to you now. Tell me how I may stop her."

Although Michael was well aware of just how dangerous Jada was now, for anyone else the conversation would sound so wrong; to speak of the girl as a threat, and such a large one.. almost villainous in nature.

As soon as the other mentioned Jada, Marcus dropped the 'bad a**' demeanor, and regarded the other with a more considerate eye. He let out a long, slow breath as the other said his name, and he nodded his head as answer.

He bit his lip though as the other continued, and opened his mouth once to interject, but decided against it and let the other finished. His brow knitted with worry as Michael spoke of what Jada intended to do, and he couldn't help but slump against the dead tree next to him.

"Jada..." he whispered, his features contorted into a distraught grimace.

He ran his fingers through his hair, letting out a heavy sigh, before opening his crimson eyes to gaze forlornly at the other.

"It shouldn't be like this," he whispered, "Donner... He's ruined everything, hasn't he? Jada... I love her so.. so deeply, I..."

He buried his face in his hands, trying to keep himself from tears.

Quickly though, he managed to get himself back under control, and he lifted his head to gaze stoicly at the other. His face was hard set, and determination burned in his eyes.

"I don't- I don't know very well how to stop her- but I want to talk to her, when she gets here. I must..." Marcus's words rang with determination, but was Marcus just being a fool?
PostPosted: Sat Jan 07, 2006 7:37 pm

So it was love. Perhaps the boy in front of him was the answer. Sadly, Michael didn't see things working out as perfectly as he could hope.

"I agree." Michael boomed out, his own determination evident. "I fear it shall not be long now. Rise to the top of this building, I will await you at it's pinnacle, and there we will wait for her. I must repeat my warning, for you mustn't be caught unaware; Jada will not be the same woman you know. Please, do not judge her by what you see. I hold firm to the belief that her heart is still innocent and true to its rightful nature."

With that, he turned on his heel, and the great wings flung him upwards with all their force. He perched on the ledge of the roof but a moment later, and turned to stand vigilant there, the picture of the guardian angel he had now become.

Him. A Guardian Angel. It was almost amusing, if he had the strength to laugh about it.

In the distance he heard the howling screech of a bird, and followed its sound, narrowing his eyes as he glared out into the distance. Was it a bird at all? Only time would tell.

Marcus nodded his compliance, and without another word he ducked into the mansion of a home. He said nothing as he strode up the stairs, though he passed Dragonfly there. She seemed somewhat panic, and she almost made to stop him, but the look on Marcus's face changed her mind. She shook her head a little, heading back down the stairs, and deep into the dungeon-like basement.

Marcus climbed as high as he could into the home, before he swung open a window, and went through the difficulty of scrambling up onto the roof. This was no easy feat, and he almost sent himself to his death once or twice. Obviously this house hadn't been built for being able to climb up. However, in the end he did manage to pull himself up onto the strong roof.

He gazed over the large slanted surface, and let out a heavy breath. All of the hair on the back of his neck stood up at the screaching cry, and he felt that time was of the essence now.

He kept Michael's words at the surface of his mind at all time. Jada wasn't the same right then, and he would have to be careful. But... Marcus knew that deep down, she was still Jada, wasn't she..? He prayed that this was so.

Finally, he caught sight of the other's spectacular wings, and he carefully made his way over.

"That was no easy climb," he mumbled as he neared, offering a soft grin, before his features became grim again.

It felt like Marcus's only way to deal with the tense moments of waiting was to make a joke, and thus he had, but even he didn't want to laugh, or smile again past the pathetic one he had offered.
