Morkth sent oua call t to all the dragons, Fort needs your help! Threadfall at Fort!

Kasira and Berylaith were at Benden, enjoying a day at the lake, when the call went out...

Threadfall at Fort! Beryl bugled suddenly, startling her rider, which in turn scared the two flits, which launched off Kasira's shoulder and began wildly wheeling about in the air.

Kasira turned toward her dragon, noticing similar reactions of several others around the lake. "I suppose all the commotion means they need our help?"

Correct... Beryl replied with a nod of her head.

"All right...let's go grab our gear and get over there, then," Kasira said. She left the two flits to fend for themselves, knowing they'd return to her room eventually...or else tag along. They did that, sometimes, though why she didn't know. Thread was bad enough for dragons.

Once they had gotten ready, Berylaith launched into the air about Benden and almost immediately went between, appearing high enough above the battle that they wouldn't be in the way. See if you can figure out where we're needed most, Kasira said, leaning over to look down at the chaos below, ignoring the cold wind buffeting them.

((tag, anyone ^^))

Rivath dove and flamed, searing a patch above of a green (random NPC). As Kara feed Rivath more stone the wind buffeted a massive clump in their direction from behind. At her ear little Cyll sounded the alarm and flew at the large clump, but it was to close for Rivath to get at.

G’dor never was one to linger about when the time called for his attention. The moment the alarm went up he pulled on his riding gear and rushed out to the balcony where Tarnith waited anxiously for him. Thread was in the air above fort and his service to the wyer was due. The people were scurrying from the streets and returning to their homes quickly. Of course- he had been forewarned before the wyer had gone on alert. The moment thread began to fall his felines began yowling like the world was coming to an end. Will had bounded over to Tarnith along side Kyte and sat himself down. He wasn’t going to be left behind. Fortunately, he had practiced strapping the little feline to the dragon so often that now it hardly took any time at all. Will was secured to his spot, Kyte clung to G’dor’s shoulder, and G’dor fastened himself to Tarnith. His heart pounded harder than before as he pulled the riding goggles over his eyes, his first thread fall… so soon after learning how to go between. He had every right to be nervous- and he felt he had rights to be more nervous than the other riders as well. He was a bronze rider and based on his performance he would be judged.

Tarnith lifted from the balcony and soared down to pick up the sacs of firestone, back winging onto a new balcony and ducking himself to receive the parcels. G’dor tightly secured the four sacs to the dragon’s neck just above where Will was strapped. Considering the excitement the feline seemed rather calm about the entire situation, looking up quietly. Once the sacs were in place other dragons had began to come and G’dor lifted off, raising to where they were being called to. The jump between to arrive in his assigned location was no picnic, it only stirred G’dor to the fact that he’d be doing it very often and if he didn’t keep his wit about him, he’d pay dearly. Tarnith assured him that it wouldn’t happen, and continued assuring him as they got into their wing position. Being the bronze rider of the wing he was stationed at the front. He had been assigned to wing two, further in fron the could see K’elt and his bronze in the first wing. There was no time to congratulated his friend. Will hissed upwards at a patch of thread but the rider behind him had seared it just in time. Clumps began showering towards them from right behind the first, urged on faster by the wind.

Tarnith ducked the next one- allowing the dragon behind him to deal with it. He turned his head, taking in a mouth full of fire stone and chewing it. Will hissed just to their upper left and almost instantly the dragon’s head turned and spewed the flame from his mouth, searing the thread into nothing but harmless ash. Tarnith powered upwards to meet the horde of clumps coming towards his wing. They were coming fast and G’dor wasn’t sure if the other would have much of a chance if they didn’t follow his lead. Tarnith took a deep breath then exhaled in a tongue of flames, consuming a good majority of the thread before them. Of course, some escaped the flames and surged towards him. Tarnith ducked between, arriving above the cluster and just in front of a new one. Will screamed a warning and Tarnith belched just in time to clear the air of thread for them.

G’dor held firmly to the straps with one hand as he fed another load of firestone to Tarnith. They were doing well for their first fight but that gave no reason to be over confidant. It had only started and he very well might not come out of this fall without a scar here or there- he hoped nothing beyond that.

As the wind increased, Weith began having a little trouble. As she dove, flaming another patch of Thread, a sudden gust nearly knocked the pair into another nearby tangle. Somehow, they made it between in time.

That was close!! Swallowing at the thought of their near miss, Ryala urged Weith toward another patch, oblivious of the fact that there was another falling right overhead......

((*pats Thalion on the head* Know the feeling. *still feels warm and sappy at the two weyrs and loves her threadfall* Did you know thread drowns after three seconds immersion? ))

With another bursting crack of thunder the skies opened up and began to pour. With a squack of indignity Kilra flitted back to K'elt and Garanth, making sure to put the two in the direction of the wind and rain. She crooned at the blue and then took off again, covering the bronze's left side. Slowly the rate of thread falling decreased to the occasionall life clump. Others, soggy and dead, dropped on past. The danger wasn't over yet despite the bittersweet help from the storm.

PROMPT: With Zardoz and Kilra's help, most of the smaller threads around K'elt were charred. But the two flits couldn't help when a large writhing clump of thread fell from the upper left, drifting further down at every moment. At the same time it's twin dropped down on the other side of the bronze.

PROMPT: Kasira noticed a small green having trouble keeping straight in the gusting winds. To the left and above her was a clump of thread, while below everyone seemed to be pushed up by a sudden gust of wind.

PROMPT: The brown soon found himself in the center of what used to be a wedge. Thread was falling through this wing and the wing below them was scrambling to cover it. Three clumps fell in front of him although two were suddenly pushed together to form one large mass of Thread.

Appearing from nowhere - or possibly between - the tiny gold zips around in the lee of several of the smaller dragons, having already seen and heard the new arrangement of the wings. Seeing a single Thread coming towards the blue (NPC) she was utilizing, she screeched and let out a steady flame, burning the thing to cinders.

Zipping from lee to lee, she hovers around the blue she's apparently adopted, flaming loose Threads that threaten her and him.

Xaith relayed the message from Morkth for her to drop down to the lower tiers of the fighting pattern. She gratefully consented and Xaith did a neat vertical drop between Tarnith and Garanth back winging just above the lower wing. Here the gust of wind were strong but not as likely to blast her around the sky. The clouds were thickening and bunching together to form angry thunderheads. Gail would welcome the rain, but not the driving torrents and wind that would surely come along with it. Xaith turned her head for more fire stone and Gail deftly tossed it in. Her face was sore from wind burn and her eyes stung and watered; this threadfall seemed it would never end. The larger dragons were catching the brunt of the fall and Xaith did her best to dart around catching stray pieces and clumps. Riders had come from Benden to aid and help fill the vacant spots of injured riders. Gail was surprised to see all the flits that had come to help. Some were even flaming! She saw a queen flame and wondered if firestone sterilized them as it did the dragon queens.
Xaith abruptly dived for a denser clump and Gail noticed that many of the heavy dragons were having problems maneuvering properly in the upper ranks, damn and blast, this fall was probably one of the more hellacious ones in the past.
The clouds suddenly blasted forth a gust of freezing air sending the thread into a spin and the pressure shoved everyone higher. Xaith was spun into an odd angle and fought to right herself, Gail saw thread everywhere and urged her bonded faster, they seemed to be surrounded by large clumps. The fighting straps bit into her sweaty palms as she gripped them even tighter; this was not good.

Seeing the apparently surrounded dragon, Mel darts over and flames single threads out of clumps, barely making a dent. Exasperated, she flies over to another dragon and chirps in the rider's face, trying to draw his attention to the green in peril.

R'ign and Kerth were diving for a fairly large clump when a small golden thing suddenly hovered before the bluerider's face. She gasped in surprise and Kerth stopped his dive, wanting to fly as far away from the flit as possible.

Love, try and understand what she's saying. R'ign told her bonded, wondering what a gold flit was doing in the middle of Threadfall.

She's much easier to understand than that green thing of Glith's bonded. She says that a green is in trouble, Kerth added. R'ign glanced about, then pointed towards Xaith and Gail. There!

The blue flew that way, dodging clumps along the way. There was no time to flame them all if he were to get to the green in time to help. He released a large burst of flame upon arriving, aiming for the clumps overhead.

((I assume these are the same thing.... XD I hope. Gonna reply like they are...))

Seeing Weith and Ryala having trouble, Berylaith and Kasira dove toward them, the slightly larger green not having as much trouble with the gusting winds. They came in toward the clump of thread from above and to the right, swooping over the other dragon and rider. Beryl spat out a burst of flame that got most of the clump and also called out a warning to Weith.

Thread, above you and to the left!

Kasira sent Beryl into a tight loop, ready to come around and help the other two some more if they needed it.

The weather changed and Kara prayed for rain to drown the thread in the skys so that they would have no more inguries and lost life.

(that's me, right?) sweatdrop

K'makin noticed that Nakoreth had descended into a cluster of dragons who flew about chaotically. The demoralized group of riders seemed to be focusing on survival, and they were missing several large clumps of thread. Wishing again for a flamethrower, he urged Nakoreth toward several clumps that were falling just ahead. The sky opened, and the rain fell faster than the lazy thread... but didn't seem to be drowning the clumps.

We can't get all three clumps, they're not close enough together, he told the brown as they swooped forward. Try to get the others to fall in behind us to get them, they're going to hurt themselves if someone doesn't take charge. The brown agreed and prepared a flame.

Just as Nakoreth opened his mouth to char the nearest clump, wind shifted the other two together into a larger mass of thread. Flying Threadfall in a storm like this was dangerous... hopefully the rain would fall more thickly, to drown the clumps...

Good idea. Nakoreth relayed Rivath's message to K'makin, who agreed, and the brown began to dive after the falling clump.

K'elt looked up, letting the cold rain wash across his face. It felt good, and cooled the burning in his arm somewhat. It also meant that the fall would soon be over...it had certainly cost enough already.

*Garanth! Left, wingover, right NOW!*

The massive bronze abruptly pulled up and to the left, belching forth a blast of fire that engulfed the first bundle of thread. Continuing the motion he dipped his right wing and rolled completely over, bringing his head into a direct line with the second clump - which dissappeared in a scorching blast of flame. The sudden and violent move sent the two flits end over end in the cold rain. Zardoz let out an irate chirp and dissappeared. *Mine, where did he go?* Back to the weyr, he was a bit upset at the sudden tossing to the winds I just gave him...wait, Xaith is beset! K'elt glanced about, and saw the valiant green, seemingly surrounded by thread clumps, with Kerth and R'ign arrowing in to help...but would it be enough? He fixed the image in his mind. *GO!* Garanth jumped between, emerging to the left an below Gail and Xaith. He prepared to breath on a clump close to her left. Xiath! Go between now!!! It may be too close to get it all and I don't want to sear you!
