I don't know. I think they left around the time I started to get into nascar or something so I wouldnt know about that.
Dale Earnahrdt Sr. had picked him to succeed him in the #3 when Dale retired. Of course the 2001 Daytona 500 changed that plan, and Kevin Harvick went into that car. Jeff came over to the 31 in 2005, which, had Dale survived, would have meant that 2004 would have been the Intimidator's last year. Jeff Burton would be driving the black #3 right now, and I imagine that Kevin Harvick would be in the 31.
But yeah, Jeff Burton left Rousch to replace Dale Earnhardt Sr. in a deal that was probably inked before Dale was killed. Jeff just waited for his contract with Rousch to expire.
