{1} The Discussion.
"What?!"
Kiyo winced sharply at the high pitched exclamation of her lover, her overyly large, sensitive ears plastering themselves to the sides of her her head. She could imagine every spine down her love's back bristling just from the tone of Tyga's voice.
Clearing her throat, she repeated herself, slightly cowed by the furious stare burning through her back like a lazer. "I said...I said...I want to have a baby." By the time she reached the last word, her voice had trailed off into a whisper, her hastily scrounged courage dwindling even swifter that it had been gathered.
Tyga sighed and rested her forehead against her hand, her face the picture of exasperation. "Since when?" she queried, letting the novel in her other hand close and lie on the pockmarked kitchen table.
"Since about a week ago...I was walking downtown, and there was this clinic, and there were these brochures, and there was all this information, and you know I've always wanted to be a mommy, and you'd be a wonderful mommy too, and-"
The squeal of a chair being pushed back from the table cut off Kiyo's frenzied babbling, shortly followed by a pair of firm, strong arms being wrapped around her midsection. Kiyo let the dishes in her hands fall back into the warm, soapy water filling the sink and leaned back into the soothing embrace. She dried her hands on the apron around her waist and reached up to hold one of the small delicate hands holding her. Kiyo breathed deeply, savoring the honeysuckle, soil, paint, and green-growing-things scent so particular to only one person in the whole world.
"Aren't the lill'uns enough? Do you really want to have more to take care of?" Tyga was, of course, speaking of Kiyo's four younger siblings, all already put to bed seeing as it was half-past eleven. The two "parents" had taken the kids in, Kiyo vehemently protesting any splitting of the family.
"Oh, you know I love them to pieces, and I think of them more as my children than brothers and sisters, but it's just not the same as having my own baby. Suki is getting older, Ty-ty, she's getting more independent. She already doesn't need me as much! And..." Kiyo turned around to face Tyga, a blush settling in her cheeks. "...I want us to have a child, together."
Tyga felt a flush creep into her own cheeks as well. She quickly hid her embarassed glow by pulling her partner into a tighter hug. "Aw, Ki...I don't know what to say."
"Then say yes."
"Ki..." Tyga warned softly.
"Please, just promise me you'll think about it, 'kay?"
"Mmm..." Tyga murmured into Kiyo's shoulder. "What say we head on up to bed? The dishes will keep till morning."
Kiyo chuckled at the implications in her lovers tone. "Head on up to bed, but will there be any sleeping I wonder," she teased, letting Tyga tug her towards the door. As she flicked off the lightswitch, she considered warning her love about the appointment she had already scheduled. Nah... she thought just before turning her mind to more intimate joys, shared only with her spined companion.
