"A madam?" Seth looked quite blank for a moment as he tried to ponder what that might mean. "Oh! um. You mean a lady of the evening, right? Wait, they have those on this island?" He didn't look overly thrilled at the idea of that.
"She had fuzzy ears? That's pretty damn weird. I don't think that's a quality most blokes go looking for in a female, even if she was a looker." Seth made a disgusted face and shook his head. "Yeuch."
"I'll make a note of that though. Thanks for the warning."

"I'm pretty sure you not gonna find a woman around here that's not covered fur or whatever," Sid said, sighing at the prospect. "So if you ever get really desperate, just keep in mind that chick's probably got 32 flavors of disease between her legs, fur or no."
He rested his arm on the back of the bench, looking thoughtful. "She's the only one that's struck me as all that odd, so far. Wish I could offer more, but I haven't been here all that long. But it's okay, I'm learning to cope... Preparing for the worst, more like."

Seth's teeth were gritted, and his expression had shifted to one of disgust as Sid mentioned all the diseases she might have.
"Yeuch... I'll definitely have to watch out for her now. I'm not fond of people like that at all. Thanks for the heads-up." He grinned at the other. "Not that I go around picking up females like that anyway, or at all really." He paused, frowning as he realized how that sounded, and quickly continued. "Not that I'm that way inclined, hell no! I just... don't know what to say to them at all. Ever."
"Heh, she sounds somewhat normal at least, though." He placed his palms down on the bench either side of him as if to support himself, then began to drum the benchtop with his fingertips. "But if you think that's odd, wait 'til you see the frog-guy. He was hanging around those hotel room thingys. Ah, if they're not hotel rooms, I don't know what to call 'em. They were kinda tall, and all stuck together an' I woke up in one of the rooms there earlier." He motioned with his hands to try and indicate their height. "But that frog guy... bloody hell. He was a decent bloke, honest, but really really nervous and jumpy. The labs are turning him into a giant frog, and he said he was only half done. There worse coming than that. That's pretty messed up right there."
"Preparing for the worst, ey?" Seth sighed at the older man, pondering just why he was accepting what was happening. "So you're consigning yourself to the crap that's going on here? That's an awful shame. Because you look smart. If you set your mind to it, I bet you could help think of something."

The last comment alone was enough to drag Sid back to the memory of all those of years of failure that came long before he ended up on the island. He closed his eyes, he counted to three... but no, it was still there, as much a burr in his thoughts as everything else.
Whose fault was it, really? He already knew the answers, always had, and while he refused to acknowledge it it irked him even more. It only took a few seconds of thing about it to push his annoyance into real anger. Sid levered himself up to stand with the cane. He did it a little too fast, made the mistake of putting his weight on his right leg, and the stab of pain was yet another reminder of... of all that.
"I told you," he said. "I'm not gonna get involved with that. Goddamn it, don't you get it? I'm too ******** old for any heroic escape s**t!"
There, he said it. Old. Sid hesitated before he started walking, but he didn't know what more he could say. Fume more? Apologize? Hit him? He glanced back at Seth, trying to decide, until at last he just shook his head and started walking off. Better to cut things short before he made things worse, even if he was technically running away.

Seth looked rather unhappy as Sid got to his feet and began to walk away.
"s**t, I offended him..." He began to mentally berate himself. "Nice going, you dummy."
"Hey wait, where are you going?" He called out. "Sorry for making you mad, dude. You don't have to get involved in my crazy s**t plans." But he remained seated, letting Sid go, mostly due to the fact he felt rather hopeless at that point and couldn't offer any words of assurance for him.
So, he just sat there on the bench with his laptop, and with his thoughts, alone. "Something's got to change here..."
He rose to his feet and headed back towards his duplex, desiring time alone, and time to ponder what to do with his current situation.
