serenablack tsshark serenablack tsshark serenablack One view is that piercing is allowed becuase it is mentioned often in the Torah. In Breisheit (Genesis), when Eliezer meets Rebecca at the well, he puts a ring on her nose. In Shemot (Exodus), Aaron instructs the men to remove the earrings from their wives in order to construct the golden calf. Male ear piercing was also mentioned, many men showed what job they had by the type of earrings they wore. However, piercing is also forbidden in the Torah. In Vayikra (Leviticus) it is specifically prohibited and associated with idolatry and/or mourning practices. Rambam (Maimonides) views this as saying that the origin of peircing is not Jewish and therefore is forbidden. One must also consider that our bodies are created betzelem Elokiem - in the image of Hashem. As on loan and not our own t do whatever we want to. You can also look at issues of tzniut (modesty). Nowadays many piercings are in innapropriate places, so showing themto someone would be a violation of the laws concerning modesty. The Conservative movement views piercings as okay, as long as it is voluntary and does not believe that people with piercings should be denied burial in a Jewish cemetary. Wow, that was nice. I like people that have answers like that. Are you learning in " Midrasha " or something like that? And you even mantioned the Rambam! Not at the moment, but I go to a Jewish school and had a class on stuff like this a few years ago, plus my mom is a rabbi-in-training. Your mom? so you mean "Rabanit", no? I'm so used to people asking me what that means I usually stick with rabbi in training - or as she likes to say, rabbit sweatdrop because of the in training part... yeah. OMG i love that ^.^ that is sooo adorable I wanna be a rabbit, I WANNA BE A RAINBOW RABBIT with a cute little bow on my head. 4laugh 4laugh 4laugh not dissing your mom at all she has my total respect, i just love that little name, i would have never thought of such a thing! oh oh and go your mom you learn that torah and such.. you can pwn me in knowledge you both can :enod: woot ^.^

Yea exactly so the piercings that are in the torah are clearly not forbidden, so there for you can not be denied or frowned upon. But I will admit that there are some piercings which are not exactly allowed 3nodding right...totally. I personally have two piercings in my eyebrow and labret and i wore a stud to my shul and they did not give me a hard time. however, piercings of the vaginal or penile region are STRICTLY forbidden

My thoghts are that as long as it dose not indanger your health or abelty to have kids that it sould be to you the person. I see nothing wrong with ears or noises but most others can have a high likely hood to get infections or worse.

Oh, I talked to a guy (Jewish, of course) who said as long as the piercings are taken out when you're buried, then it's fine. This is slightly sensitive, I had a Jewish friend who recently passed away, and he had piercings...

Baruch Dayan ha-emet. I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. May his loved ones be comforted among all the mourners for Tziyon.
