Airaka

Xtol opened his mouth, and leaned foreward, as she waved her finger about, ready to catch it in his mouth, but Kierla picked him up. He glanced over his shoulder at Airaka, who was now right behind him, giving her a dark look, before she pulled him to his feet, and grabbed his hand. Tugging his hand free, he realised what was going on, the adults were interrupting their fun. It was most likly Airaka's fault. It was always her fault.

Airaka had barely any time to react before the metal wand slammed against her forehead, right above her eye where the boy had been aiming. She fell down on the floor, a surprised look in her eyes. Xtol stood before her, defiently, then turned to face Kierla, holding up his wand. As he went to swing his wand down, he felt a sudden tiredness striking him, as Airaka's hand curled around the tip of his tail. Xtol's bottom plopped on the ground before he could bring the wand down on Kierla's knee, and he opened his mouth in a yawn.

As she placed her hand on the side of her forehead, where a black gash was, Airaka moved back to her feet. Taking her hand from her forehead, she bowed first to the shop keeper, them to Kierla.
"I apologize for our defience." she said in her soft voice.
Digging through her pocket, she dug some spare coins out, and handed them to the shop keeper as Kierla had done.

Airaka pulled Xtol back to his feet, the boy know willing to hold her hand and follow her outside. She held the door open for Kierla, waiting for the woman to follow, with an emotionless look in her eyes.

Kierla's hand flew up to her mouth before she could stop herself, and she found herself thinking like she had with Raja and Jeanus: Thank the gods Aricia's not a boy. She was bad enough as it was, a prissy princess. "Aricia, come on."

This time, the girl didn't scream when they headed toward the door. Hey, if she had to leave the prettyful dresses to be able to play with Xtol...well, she could always force Kierla to come back here later. That purple gown was really quite pretty. "Teehee!" she cried, oblivious to Airaka's wound.

Airaka grinned at Kierla, and shrugged her shoulders. She released Xtol from her grasp, though the boy just kind of rocked back and forth, before yawning again.
"So... Where should we go? A park, maybe?"
She glanced over her shoulder, the way she had come, remembering a park like area she had seen from before.

Xtol rose the wand to his eyes, rubbing the dragon that had hit Airaka's forehead. His wand was getting dirty. Maybe he'd give it a bath. He pushed the bottom of the wand down on the ground, rubbing the dragon's heads and the spherical gem between the two.

It kind of seemed as if the two had already forgotten of the little tragedy from a second before.

Kierla was very frankly surprised at the casual air between the mother and son, after what had just conspired. He had hit her! On the head! And it was bleeding!

She had to admire the woman for her control of emotion. Kierla felt like an amateur compared to her.

"We could just walk along," she said. "Which way are you heading?"

With a wild yowl, Aricia flung herself down, her hands aiming for Xtol's wings. Maybe he could carry her! That'd be fun!

Xtol jerked forward. Girl on his back! Girl on his back! He waddled ahead, waving his wings slightly in an attempt to keep balance. Nope. He couldn't carry her. Xtol fell on to his stomach, his arms, wings, and tail flooping uselessly around him. He wiggled underneath his new companion, glaring ahead of him.
"Off." he commanded.

Airaka pointed down the way she had come.
"Well.. My home is down that way. But I wasn't really going anywhere specifically."
As Aricia landed on Xtol, she watched for a moment, before Xtol spoke, and she walked forward, taking Aricia from Xtol's back, and setting the girl on her feet. She turned back to Kierla, and bowed her head.
"Sorry."

Xtol curled himself around, then poked Aricia on her head, surprisingly gently. He struggled to his feet, and grinned when he gained balance. Taking a step back, he wondered if his friend could walk. He held out his wand, for her to grab, just incase.

"Daaaaw," Aricia whined. "Pweesee?" She wriggled a little more on his back, making herself comfortable. "Fun, fun!"

And it was fun. At least to her, anyways. And if it was fun for her, it was fun for him.

But she pouted when she was placed onto the ground. "Up," she demanded, grabbing hold of Xtol's wand in an attempt to stop him. This was getting her dress dusty.

Kierla smiled as she watched the children. "Do they really grow up 'that fast', or is that just something overeccentric parents say?" she wondered aloud, apparently not listening to anything Airaka was saying.

"They grow up quicker." Airaka replied.
She, unlike Kierla before, didn't notice this was a tought spoken to the open. Walking in front of the two children, and standing opposite of Kierla, she watched the two kids, hoping that neither of them started anything again. She noted some people glancing at the children, though she out-right ignored their looks.

Xtol was pulled to a stop and stared down at the girl. He narrowed his golden eyes slightly at her, but not so much that he looked angry, jsut enough so that he looked in command.
"Up," he mimicked, but in his own tone.
He took a step forward, readjusting his hands on the wand, then yanked it back, attempting to jerk Aricia to her feet.

"Is that so?" Kierla mumbled distractedly, hard at thought. The passerbyers she was not ignoring; she simply didn't notice them. There were two subjects she studied obsessively: Death, and what-it-was-to-be-a-mother. The latter, currently, was the easiest to pursue.

"Up! Up! UP!" Aricia's voice was rising, not just steadily but quite quickly as well. At the sudden movement of the wand she was clutching, she was suddenly dragged onto her stomach, covering the front of her dress with dirt. Aricia glared at Xtol with horror. HOW DARE HE!

Xtol paused. Aw crap... His idea failed. Aw well.. It was all her fault. He let go of the girl, getting down on his hands and knees. Crawling over to her, he grabbed her shoulders, pushing her back up. He leaned on her, just enough so that she wouldn't fall down though, so he could catch his breath. The boy still didn't have much energy left after Airaka had done that weird thing to her.

Xtol struggled to his feet, curling his tail around his leg, and opening out his wings, to help him keep balance. He held out his arms for Aricia to grab. The boy figured his new idea to get the girl to walk would work, unlike the last one. This one wasn't all up to her, now she had help. Not that she should have needed it.

Airaka nodded her head, though her attention seemed distracted by the children's goings ons. She pondered what they were doing, responding airily to Kierla with a,
"Yeah... Seems like it. Who turns from a 6 month old baby to a four year old toddler in three months?"
PostPosted: Sun Sep 17, 2006 10:24 pm

"Is that so?" Kierla repeated in an almost identically scatterbrained way. It was clear she was not paying attention to anything in the world around her.

Then she seemed to snap out of it. "True, you are correct." Her voice had reverted back to its normal flat tones. She cast an eye over the toddler and the infant, smiling a little.

Normally, Aricia would have not forgiven the horrible crime, but seeing as Xtol was helping her back up, she decided to let it go. With wobbly legs, she took one step and immediately fell down again, hands suddenly gripping the supporting arms.

Xtol curled his hands around Aricia's arms, going opposite of her, and flapped his wings, helping the pair of them regain balance. As he took a half step back, so the two of them were back in favourable positions, he gave her a reasurring grin. He wasn't very good at walking himself, so this was a little tricky. Taking his tail from her leg, he curled it around a point were both of their arms met to better keep hold of each other. He waited for her to feel ready to take another step.

Airaka noticed Kierla slipping into her old self, and almost flinched. She nodded her head, almost too enthusiastically, in agreement. The red-head wondered if silence would fill the air between them again, so she decided to stop it before it started.
"Does she know how to walk?" she questioned.
PostPosted: Sun Sep 17, 2006 10:46 pm

"No, she doesn't. I've mostly carried her around all day." Kierla shifted balance nervously; did that make her a bad mother? "I was planning to teach her once she was a toddler," she self-conciously added, as if trying to show that she wasn't a complete loss.

Cautiously, her dimpled knees ready to topple, she took another step. Then another. Aricia gave a little gurgle of joy. She wasn't falling! She was moving! She was walking!

Make a note of that, please. There'd better be some sort of reward for this.

With a shout of glee, Aricia jumped in the air - or at least tried to. Her legs simply weren't built for that quite yet, and with a loud thump, she fell on her behind in the dust.

"Xtol taught himself... Or.. I think he just learned it when he became a toddler... I don't remember."
If anyone was to feel like the bad mother, it would be Airaka. She had barely helped Xtol with learning how to sit, crawl, walk, or talk. Every so often she's pop in with simple tips, but that was about it.

How to ruin it. Xtol snorted as the girl landed on her rump. They had been doing so well. With her support, he had actually been able to walk with straight steps. Though, with his help, she had taken her first steps. He tapped her on the head with her hand,
"Good." he complimented, in a lighter tone.
Even if she had messed up in the end, she had walked instead of falling.

Aricia wound her hands around the boy's arms again, straining to get back up. It was easier than before, she realized with faint surprise.

With the determination of a storm trying to rip up a house (and with the result here being just as disastrous), she began to walk again.

First sentence, first time-out, and now first steps.

It was amazing what could happen in a week.

"That's...good..." Kierla said slowly, back to that contemplation-of-motherhood mode again.

...Good...? Airaka chuckled, qhile attempting to keep silent so to not offend Kierla. She was quite the different woman, Airaka noted. Movingcloser to the children, she half kneeled down incase some ill befell the children.

Xtol faltered a bit as Aricia snatched his arms again, though by flapping his wings, he was able to walk backwards with her. Walking backwards was twice as hard as walking forward, he hoped she knew this. As he passed Airaka he shot her what looked to be, as well as a toddler could manage it, an all knowing look, before looking back at Aricia with a very fox-like grin.
