This Is Your Life
Switchfoot

This one sprang to mind

yesterday is a wrinkle on your forehead
yesterday is a promise that you've broken
don't close your eyes, don't close your eyes
this is your life and today is all you've got now
yeah, and today is all you'll ever have
don't close your eyes
don't close your eyes

this is your life, are you who you want to be
this is your life, are you who you want to be
this is your life, is it everything you dreamed that it would be
when the world was younger and you had everything to lose

yesterday is a kid in the corner
yesterday is dead and over

this is your life, are you who you want to be
this is your life, are you who you want to be
this is your life, is it everything you dreamed that it would be
when the world was younger and you had everything to lose

don't close your eyes
don't close your eyes
don't close your eyes
don't close your eyes

this is your life are you who you want to be
this is your life are you who you want to be

this is your life, are you who you want to be
this is your life, are you who you want to be
this is your life, is it everything you dreamed it would be
when the world was younger and you had everything to lose

and you had everything to lose

ooo, and this one I couldn't get out of my head and helped me feel better ^_^

Phil Joel Lyrics

God Is Watching Over You Lyrics

He sees you down by the waterline
Knows what you're thinking all the time
He sees the rising of the waves
And when the tide starts rolling in
He lets you know it's gonna be okay

He sees you dancing in the moonlight
His arms around you hold you tight
And if those clouds should start to break
He'll be standing out in the rain with you
And though it's hard to believe
He believes in you

God is watching over you as always
You are loved whatever you go through
He's right beside you
God is watching over you as always
And if you think He'll ever leave you
You'd better think again

Painted in the sky a rainbow to remind you
Nothing that it broken cannot be made new
He knows when you feel so far away
He's gonna keep the nightlight on
He's waiting there, there to recieve you

CHORUS

Through fire, through wind, and through rain
Yesterday, today, and tomorrow the same
Nothing here could take this love
Nothing you could do would break this love
Climb a tree, gonna reach so high
Swing low, sweet chariot
It's time to fly

Oh Namek... you are so good to put those up, thank you. I love them both and will download so I can hear them as well. I think I like that group a lot!

Do you find lyrics expressing things sometimes when we are unable to find our own words? Or our own words are too may and some lyrics can compress and better define them?

Yes, I find both of those things to be true. Sometimes I can't find the words to express something and a song will say it, or there is a truth that we all basically know in the back of our minds, but when it is pointed out in song it is so comforting or a revelation. I just like how some of those songs just come to my mind just when I'm in need of those particular sentiments. I'll post some more if I think of some. 3nodding

Phooey! I answered this and if must have gone into Gaia Limbo!

I agree with all of that.. comfort, revelations... even the way words are strung together to command a more over-powering affect. Sometimes I have to lie down on the floor, look at the ceiling and process it for some time! Haha.

Ooooohhhhh you are so sweet to notice and miss me! Thank you for that.

I had a huge family reunion to attend to this week, company from all over, Sqarr visiting, grandfather turning 80 and all...

But the worst is over, the guests are gone, we rested a full day, and now, while he slumbers over there *points and smiles* I will catch up, wash the dishes, and see to the animals. I will ride later, too!

Yes, I have a few bruises, but still! Determined it is, I am! Hahahahaha.

My favorite words? It depends on the mood I am fit in at the situation. Or, it's most likely everything. 3nodding

I admit it freely. I love words. In any form. Poetry, lyrics, tales. Rants, righteous indignation, venting. Reminiscings (ohsure I will have to edit -that word...), confessions, secrets. Conversation... And the list goes on.

Do you have a favorite something of your own, or someone else's? Do you find lyrics expressing your very soul? Do you cry when you watch and listen? Me, too.

Let me see.

And I will give you this, first, tonight... having perused this Guild for several hours, and been enchanted, touched, and impressed. Beauty is wherever you are, and you are here, and I will settle with you for a time.

============================

Never is a promise
Fiona Apple

You’ll never see the courage I know
Its colors’ richness won’t appear within your view
I’ll never glow - the way that you glow
Your presence dominates the judgements made on you

But as the scenery grows, I see in different lights
The shades and shadows undulate in my perception
My feelings swell and stretch; I see from greater heights
I understand what I am still too proud to mention - to you

You’ll say you understand, but you don’t understand
You’ll say you’d never give up seeing eye to eye
But never is a promise, and you can’t afford to lie

You’ll never touch - these things that I hold
The skin of my emotions lies beneath my own
You’ll never feel the heat of this soul
My fever burns me deeper than I’ve ever shown - to you

You’ll say, don’t fear your dreams, it’s easier than it seems
You’ll say you’d never let me fall from hopes so high
But never is a promise and you can’t afford to lie

You’ll never live the life that I live
I’ll never live the life that wakes me in the night
You’ll never hear the message I give
You’ll say it looks as though I might give up this fight

But as the scenery grows, I see in different lights
The shades and shadows undulate in my perception
My feelings swell and stretch, I see from greater heights
I realize what I am now too smart to mention - to you

You’ll say you understand, you’ll never understand
I’ll say I’ll never wake up knowing how or why
I don’t know what to believe in, you don’t know who I am
You’ll say I need appeasing when I start to cry
But never is a promise and I’ll never need a lie

This is for you, VKM... post anything that hits you at any time you are in here again, depending on that mood. Anything at all. Song, poem, rant... I know its in there, Ive seen it.

Being the hopeless romantic that I am, I search songs for hidden meanings and have a large amount of words and expressions that I hold dear to me. None more so than this quote:

"We come to love not by finding the perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly" ~Sam Keen

I love it and believe in it so much that it's written down on a small piece of paper and carried close to my heart in a locket I wear almost daily. One day when I find someone I feel that way about, the words will be his, ours, something to share and take comfort in.

That song made me cry. For too long.

Yes Stell, I have read that before and it is so very true.

I find it often difficult to express myself adequately as well, and find lyrics of so many kinds and that they say things so very well, i often just use them to express my own thoughts and feelings. i send them to people, and I print them out, and I listen... depending on mood and circumstance, of course. We women... le sigh.
