By equipting the Therapy Ring. The Soul Eater has the opposite effect of gaurding, which recovers 1/10 of your health, so by equiping the Therapy Ring, which causes the character it is equiped to to gain 1/10 of their life per turn, the effects are cancelled out.

Plus it is really help you when you guard, since you are not attacking the weapon will not inflict damage and you will recover twice as much health.
