Shinigami_1890 x_Hikari_x Last year I was the only bass clarinet, and next year I'll probably be alone again. I was adopted by the flutes, though. I don't know how I would feel if I were adopted by flutes... ::cringes:: (I'm a alto sax, so I'm never lonely!) Lol, the flutes were where all my friends were. This year, though...I'm crammed in the middle of the two most annoying boys in the entire world...I would rather be with the flutes.

Pro: Like you said, awesome for getting all the attention and all...but Con: If you mess up, everyone knows it was you.
I play the violin, and we were performing for at a game, and I was the only violin playing, so I had the whole melody all for myself. I am so happy I didn't mess it up, but I am sure you will rock.

I'm gonna be the only Contrabass Clarinet in the music department next year.
Upside: nobody to compete with. At all. And I'm being taken straight to the top band.
Downside: It's no fun if you can't compete, and I love competition. Also, I hate attention, and the only reason I'm on it is because it's a crucial part.
Funny side: I'll be in the highest band, playing an important part, on an instrument I've only ever seen before.
The director has a lot of faith in me.

I'm .. a Saggitarian.. sweatdrop I'm not lonely though. There's seven other drummers! No pit this year, thank god. No offense to the pit people, but I don't like people in the band who don't march. They piss meh off.

i feel sympathy for you and yet i envy you...heheh...i feel sympathy since it puts so much stress on you...but i envy you cuz it means you dont have to worry bout lazy persons not doing their share of the work...but it also means you could get heard if you make mistakes...but if you're the only one not making a mistake in the group and everyone else is....then, they all suck....damn lazy people who take band for no apparent reason....they agrivate me.

I'm an oboe player and I've always been the only one in my section. The good news, everyone will know you. People will look at you and call you "Flute" and you'll know they're talking to you. You'll also always play the first part which is usually the funnest part. The bad news: everyone will hear your mistakes. The first part is also usually the hardest part so you'll make more mistakes. It could go either way though...

The only flute? Wow. That's something I've only DREAMED about. Seriously. XD I'm the only tenor in the lower band right now, at least while we're working on concert stuff. For pep band one of the clarinets plays tenor, too. I've NEVER been the only one in my section, because I play flute as well... it's kind of awesome. ^^ In the upper band there's two of us tenors, so....

I am and always have been the only tuba player in my band. Well, there was a baritone friend of mine who was supposed to switch to tuba because then there would be two baritones and two tubas, but the other two baritones quit so we're both alone in sections. My band also only has one trombone currently, so we're kind of like a low brass trio so we're not really alone, but I don't have anyone on the same part as me.
