[Tiff permission to describe her reaction okayed!]
"Get them, Yasoinaba!" Mattus blurted out. The Headmaster's thumbs furiously pressed a complex series of buttons on his Playstation 2 controller. On the screen, a white-haired schoolboy protagonist dashed in-between rows of enemies, carving his way through their ranks with his two-handed blade. Fire and arrows flew all over the screen. Yasoinaba guarded with his blade and deflected these powers, taking minimal damage, and then rushed forward to cleave apart the last monster. Right before his blade cleaved the beast in half, he stepped on a trap trigger; a stone pillar fell from the ceiling and crushed him.
A tragic tune played, accompanying the words GAME OVER on the screen.
"Damn it all!" Mattus tossed his controller to the floor, allowing it to clatter quite loudly in front of his television. He furrowed his brow and reached for the bottle of half-finished Harp beer standing on a coaster atop his desk; he lifted it to his mouth and drained the bottle dry in a single effort. When he finished it, Mattus tossed the bottle in a random direction, not caring where it went. He heard someone in the room stifle a scream, then heard the shattering of glass.
Turning towards the front end of his desk, he now saw Tiffany Savior standing on one foot, her back arched. Just past her were the glass shards of the bottle he had just thrown. Mattus looked at her blankly for a few moments.
"What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be in class, kid?" he said with a sarcastic edge. A moment later, though, he slapped his palm against the table and then pointed at Tiff.
"Wait, you're here for that job interview, aren't you? Why didn't you just say something when you came in the room?' Mattus said. He then added, "I mean... sorry about the bottle. Go ahead and sit. While you're at it, remind me what position you're interning for again."

"I can't believe this guy is the headmaster..." Tiffany grumbled under her breath as she tried to regain her footing from the sudden "Bear Bottle Attack of Doom".
Tiff carefully bushed herself off as she cautiously stepped over the broken glass that had scattered all around the floor. She then took a seat on the comfy chair as she placed her giant black designer purse onto her lap. Tiff flipped a strand of her blonde hair away from her eye as she proceeded to remind Mattus why she was here in the first place.
"I was hoping I could intern as an aid of sorts. Kind of like helping out with school projects, dances, events...you know, just basic stuff. Maybe even a job as a part time secretary...or I could even be a tutor. I could help those struggling with their wind or water manipulations."
Tiff just nodded her head, as if she was agreeing to herself. She seemed a bit out of it, a bit nervous. She sounded as if she didn't know what position she really wanted for herself. Not to make it obvious, Tiff just smiled hoping the uneasiness would fade away soon. Suddenly Tiff had just remembered that she had brought something that might help her with the interview. Tiffany quickly opened her purse and pulled out a beige folder. The folder looked pristine and well kept, showing no signs of damage or unsightly wrinkles. She then placed the folder on top of his desk and lightly nudged it towards him.
"This is my portfolio. I don't know if you remember me, but I used to be a student at Ria High...Actually I just graduated last year. I did really well in school and I helped out in a lot of the clubs and events. Also, I don't know if this is useful, but I'm currently a model."
Tiffany spit out every word vomit she could think of. She kept a calm presence however as not to seem desperate for the job. She eyed Mattus with a longing stare. Everything around the office seemed null and void. If this little escapade didn't work, then she would need to proceed to plan B a.k.a Skanky Tiff.
He seems like the perverted type...Seeing half the women who work here, it wouldn't be a surprise.

Headmaster Mattus looked at Tiffany's face the entire time, hardly even blinking as she spoke. When Tiff finished speaking and handed him her portfolio, Mattus took it and held it in front of himself with one hand, finally shifting his piercing blue gaze from her to the words on the page. Scanning with his eyes, Mattus lazily flipped over to the next page in no time at all. He repeated this process of skimming and leafing until he came to the white space at the end of the last page. At this point, he plopped the papers onto his desk and propped one arm on his armrest. As Matt did so, he stifled a laugh.
"A model... well you don't look bad for one. Still, I have seen better," he commented, loud enough for her to hear. "But back to why you're here. You qualify for a tutoring position. You also qualify for being a secretary and an event planner. It's obvious that you are an ambitious woman." He paused. Mattus could hear the hammering of her heart from where he sat.
"It's also obvious that you're nervous; in fact, you're completely nerve wracked," Mattus said. He allowed his lips to form a slight smile. "By the way, this entire job interview was a set-up. I knew you were coming and pretended I wasn't paying attention. Your statement about my abilities is something you should have either kept to yourself or been said as a direct challenge; mumbling to yourself shows me that you're not brave enough to question people you disagree with. More than that, you aren't even sure what position you want. You should have just picked one and put all your eggs in that basket by proving that you are qualified for that position."
Mattus leaned back in his chair and used his arms as a pillow for the back of his head.
"So, Miss Savior. I'm afraid you passed on all accounts except confidence. I'm a man who believes in making instant decisions with no second-guessing. I expect all my tutors and event planners to be the same way."
He returned his arms to his armrests and reached under his desk. There his finger pressed on a small red knob. The next moment, his office door slowly swung open on its own.
"Thanks for your interest, but it looks like you just aren't sure enough about yourself. Come back when you're ready. The door is that way."

Tiffany's ears perked in a manner that caused her much distress when those utter words escaped Mattus' mouth.
....He's seen better has he...I bet he doesn't know that these amazing pair of twins are actually real compared to those other jelly engorged knock offs that he clarifies as "better".
Tiffany was always known as the "hot" girl of Ria High, and many people showered her with envious compliments. Despite the wealthy amount of praise, Tiffany never reflected on the thought and just smiled back with a simple "Thank You." She never prided herself in her looks, nor did she brag to others. So why did Tiffany feel insulted? Her eyes pierced Mattus with a scorching glare. Perhaps she was always used to being number 1 when it came to the looks department, and the sudden drop to number 2 or even number 3 took Tiff by surprise. Tiff lightly coughed and turned her head away from Mattus pretending that she didn't hear the obviously "untrue" statement.
Mattus then went on a change of pace as he started to declare how Tiff seemed qualified to be in every position that she applied for. Her uneasy attitude quickly shifted with relief and joy. She smiled to herself as she nodded her head towards Mattus accepting the praise of her qualifications. However the praise was short lived as Mattus went down a darker path that would cause Tiff to shrink in a dark crevice.
"You seem nervous; in fact, you're completely nerve wracked," Mattus said. He allowed his lips to form a slight smile. "I've got a surprise for you. This entire job interview was a set-up.
Tiff blinked in sudden confusion. The whole event seemed so surreal now. She could see the light of hope before her, only to be suddenly overshadowed by the head honcho himself...Mattus. Tiffany's thoughts were scattered. Nothing in her mind made sense. She felt a sense of both disappointment and hatred as this whole thing was a set up. She clutched her purse in frustration, digging her fingernails into the leather exterior. She felt her eyes water, but thanks to her water manipulation, she managed to pull it back. Seeing her cry was the last thing she wanted the headmaster to see. A sudden screeching sound then filled Tiffany's ears. She quickly turned her head to see that the doors had suddenly opened. Realizing that he wanted her out, Tiffany depressingly lowered her head and started to get up from her seat. She took several steps towards the massive doors, but soon stopped dead in her tracks. "I have seen better." Those words popped in her mind again. Anger started to boil up inside of her. It got to the point where she couldn't leave it in, it had to be let out.
She then quickly turned her head facing Mattus, giving him a nasty look. She then flipped her hair in a diva-ish way and started to take a step forward towards Mattus.
"How dare you!!! Do you know who I am!!? No one, and I mean NO ONE, rejects this!!!" Tiff said in a frustrated tone, moving her hands in a way as if she was examining herself.
With full charge, Tiff then stomped her way towards Mattus' desk and slammed her hands against the top of it, leaning in towards Mattus so she could shout at his face.
"You can say that my confidence level is that of a nerdy school boy trying to ask the hottest girl at his school to the dance, but you do not second guess this figure!!"
Tiff then placed her hands on her breast as she started to squish and rub them together.
"Do you see these??!! Unlike those fake loaded cannons you see on those plastic wannabes, these spicy meatballs are real!! know what Mr. Mattus, I've heard alot about you, like how you are a womanizing freak who gets his two cents from plowing anything that has a v****a. I realize now that your taste in women is completely absurd!! Hurry up and touch these babies so you know what your missing out on!"
The shy wall flower that had just walked into the office a few minutes ago now transformed into a crazy b***h. Before Mattus could do anything however, Tiffany swiftly slapped him across the face, covering her boobs in the process.
"You filthy old man!! You were actually thinking of touching them weren't you!! I should sue you for sexual harassment!!"

Matt's head turned with Tiff's palm. His cheek stung with redness. For a few moments, Mattus said nothing, using the time to rub his cheek.
"I'm not old," he said at last.
"I'm NOT old," Matt repeated, standing. His lean body stiffened as he stepped up to Tiff, his face less than a foot away from hers. Matt poked her right above her breasts with his index finger.
"Let's get something straight. First, I'm NOT OLD. Do you see any gray hair on this head? Plus, I am way too attractive to be called that anyways," Mattus said, his tone grave. He continued:
"Second. I should have you charged for assault. That would put your fledgling career to an early grave, just like that. Did you think of that before you hit me?
"Third." Matt removed his finger from Tiff's chest and turned toward his desk. He opened a drawer and pulled out some papers, then shut the drawer again. When he turned around again, he was smiling.
"You're hired. Looks like you've got some guts after all."
Mattus held out the papers with one hand and kept his other hand pocketed. "All you have to do is fill out the paperwork and you can have whatever role you want. Oh, and I was lying about how you look. You're one of the best prospective models out there. I was just testing you again... Oh yeah, I'm also not a womanizer. I made up that rumor so that the obsessive fan girls would get scared and leave me alone. Freaking high school girls."

Tiff just glared at Mattus as he was snapping back at her. She just squinted with disgust as he tried to protect his image. All she could think of was snapping his finger in two and squishing his puny head in with a hammer. His words meant nothing to Tiff. She was so caught up in the moment that she didn't care what he said to her at this point. Suddenly Mattus backed away, returning behind his desk. Without any hesitation he pulled out a piece of paper. His once stern face was now seamless and bright.
"You're hired. Looks like you've got some guts after all."
Tiffany blinked in confusion a few times. Again, her mind was scattered in all directions. Could this be real? Could this be another trap? Her body fell limp, relaxed, her purse strap that was around her shoulder slung off to the side. In the end it didn't matter, if Tiff passed the interview, then she was excited. Her clueless expression soon turned into a cheery and smiling face. She started to jump up and down with glee. By the way she was acting it was as if she had won the lottery or something.
"OMG, thank you thank you thank you!!!!"
Like a giddy Japanese school girl Tiffany rushed up to Mattus and gave him a huge hug. Tiff was notorious for having "bear" hugs and by the way she was acting, this hug would be more like a "elephant" hug. While giving him the hug, she started to jump up and down again. Mattus' head was lodged in between her bouncing melons. She started screaming again with excitement, it seemed like nothing could make this day go wrong. Unfortunately, Tiff being the klutz that she is, accidentally landed on her foot the wrong way. This caused her to loose her balance, making her fall backwards. However Tiffany's death grip didn't let go of Mattus, and just like anything that is glued onto something, started to fall with her. Tiffany landed full force on her back with Mattus landing right on top of her, his head still in her breast. At this point, Tiff had no idea what had just happened, and was oblivious to the fact that Mattus was on top of her.
"Wha-? How did I end up on the floor?"

Rayan peered down the hallway that led to Headmaster Mattus' office. The hallway, a gentle sky blue color, was perfectly empty, and thus reverberated with the sounds of students walking to their classes, the scratching of chalk on chalkboards in nearby classrooms, and the authoritative voices of the teachers lecturing on mathematics, elemental manipulation, weapon maintenance, and spirit contracting.
That is, until these calm, distant noises drowned in the furious bellow coming from a woman in Mattus' office. Rayan thought he felt the floor and walls vibrate from the noise, while his hair prickled from what he overheard. The woman was very angry, though her voice sounded familiar to him now. Couldn't Mattus shut the door if he was going to argue with somebody?
"...but you do not second guess this figure!"
Rayan blinked thrice, staring down the corridor.
But of course. Who else would be here for an interview? he thought; the lady was Tiffany Savior, the graduate he had conversed with out in the courtyard a mere ten minutes ago. Given what she was saying, the interview must have turned sour...
"You filthy old man!! You were actually thinking of touching them weren't you!! I should sue you for sexual harassment!!"
The loud slap that followed triggered an innate sense within Rayan; he sprinted towards the administrative office, turned the corner to enter, brushed past Jessica--who was red in the face and shouting, "Mattus-sama, what's going on in there? Is... is everything all right?!"--and Kristen (who was silent but stern-looking and moving briskly towards Mattus' private office), and stopped to turn around towards the girls once he stood in the doorway, blocking their view.
"Who exactly are you, and what are you doing here?" Kristen demanded, adding, "Headmaster Mattus needs us, and you are in the way. Kindly move aside." Her eyes glared at Rayan, and she folded her arms to look even more cross. Rayan stood in silence for a moment, glanced over to Jessica's distraught face, and then looked back at Kristen.
"I'm Rayan Stiger. I used to teach here," he replied. "The Headmaster and I have business to attend to."
Jessica began to jump up in down in excitement and irritation. "But there is something going on in there, we have to make sure Mattus isn't harmed! We were only away from our desks for a minute to file some paperwork...Some of those things that Tiff is saying are horrible! I think she may have even hit him!"
Jessica paused, panting for breath, and then appeared to be taken aback; she must have noticed Rayan's shredded jacket and blood-stained pants, his shabby, untamed hair and his holed boots. Gears turning in his mind, Rayan grasped for a response; he pondered how to explain away his disgruntled appearance and the questionable racket coming from within the Headmaster's office quarters. As he opened his mouth to speak, a squeal came from behind him.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!"
The ground then shook again with a great crashing sound; Jessica and Kristen immediately moved towards the door to peer over Rayan's shoulders, but Rayan thought on his feet and slipped inside the office and pressed the button on the wall, causing the doors to close on the secretaries.
"No worries," he said through the door, "Miss Savior is merely applying for a job as an acting tutor, she's simply getting carried away with demonstrating her acting prowess. There's nothing to be concerned about." Ignoring the secretaries' frantic protesting, Rayan exhaled a long breath and closed his eyes, trying to dissipate the stress. When he opened his eyes, he found Miss Tiffany Savior flattened against the floor by his lifelong friend Mattus, whose head was wedged between Tiff's extravagant pair of feminine charms.
Rayan stood there, frozen, not daring to breathe.
"Ggrrrmmfff," Mattus mumbled.
"Ah..." Rayan began to say, but he immediately paused. Surely there was a sane explanation for this that would become clear in time...
"So... dizzy. Gawd, I'm such a klutz..." Tiff said, looking to her left and then her right. Apparently, however, she did not notice the weight of the Headmaster that kept her pinned to the wooden floor.
"MMMPTH!" Mattus said, his garbled speech more emphatic than before.
Rayan pondered a moment how to rectify the uncomfortable situation without making things worse. Tiff would regain her senses soon, and might begin hitting Mattus again for his... unique position relative to hers. An idea struck him; Rayan pulled his cerulean scarf from his neck and coursed a fraction of his energy through it. Immediately, the scarf, glowing with a weak, lime green aura, wrapped around Mattus's torso like a whip. Rayan pulled, and Mattus's head emerged from its prison with a rubbery popping sound. Rayan then brought the scarf tail back to himself and struck again, this time wrapping it around Tiff's arm. Tugging on it, Rayan pulled Tiff to her feet and moved forward to catch her by the shoulders, as she stumbled and nearly fell again. Mattus staggered backwards until he found his desk with his back; he lifted himself on top of it and braced himself with his hands. Miss Savior appeared to be returning to herself.
"Miss Savior, are you all right? That sounded like a pretty harsh fall that you took," Rayan asked her. As Tiff seemed to have regained most of her bearings, Rayan removed his hands from her shoulders and wrapped his scarf back around his neck, then pocketed his hands.
"Dude... what happened?" Mattus said, pressing a hand to his forehead.
Rayan blinked at him in disbelief.
"I would have thought you would tell me that...I hope that was all an accident."
Mattus smirked, and quickly fixed his hair with a flick of his finger. "Maybe she just wanted to thank me for hiring her. I told her she got the job she wanted and the next moment she's on the floor."
"Headmaster Mattus... you were on the floor too, sir..." Rayan corrected. "On top of her, actually..."
"Being Headmaster has its perks, Rayan," Mattus replied. "So, what are you doing here, anyways? And good Lord, you look like you switched from dumpster diving to woodchipper diving."
"Ah, that..." Rayan glanced at the floor, then at the wall, and then looked back at Mattus again. Before he could open his mouth again, he heard Jessica's and Kristen's irate voices through the office doors.
"Mattus-sama, what's going on in there?" Jessica asked. "Are you all right? What was that noise?"
"Headmaster Mattus, that man who got into your office brushed past us," Kristen added, her voice barely below a shout. "Shall we call security? Where is Miss Savior? If she attacked you, then she should be detained..."
Rayan sighed. He had already forgotten about the secretaries; he should have realized that their legendary devotion to Mattus and sometimes stern enforcement of procedure and moral scruples meant that Rayan, Mattus and Tiff still had hot water to climb out of.

"POP!" The almost comedic sound echoed throughout the headmaster's office. Luckily with the help of Rayan, Mattus was able to release himself from Tiffany's grasping chest. Once Rayan managed to fully pry Mattus from Tiffany's abyss, he quickly wrapped his mystical scarf around Tiffany's arm, pulling her up with full force. The rendition was almost like somebody pulling up a cemented statue that had just been knocked over. The sudden force was a bit unexpected, leaving Tiff off guard, causing her fall back. Thankfully Rayan was right behind her and was able to catch Tiff from falling back. Regaining her composure Tiffany quickly straightened out her skirt and brushed back her hair that had violently whipped in front of her face.
"Miss Savior, are you all right? That sounded like a pretty harsh fall that you took," Rayan asked in a concerned tone. Tiffany playfully stuck out her tongue as she turned around to face Rayan.
"Oh, I'm fine thank you. Once you've fallen as much as I have I guess you get used to it." Tiffany then sighed a bit as she placed both of her hands on her hips. "To be honest, I was hoping this klutzy phase would have subsided once I graduated from high school. I guess gravity wins all the time." Her boobs slightly jiggled at her last comment, almost as if they were mocking her for her cursed slip ups.
Tiff took several steps forward, allowing Rayan and Mattus to appropriately converse with one another. Tiff just stood there quietly listening to their conversation, but she couldn't help but notice it was mostly about the incident that had recently took place.
"ugh hum!" A fake cough escaped Tiffany's breath as she tried to get the boys attention. "I just gave him a friendly hug. Apparently I went a little overboard and we lost our balance." Tiff then twirled her attention to Rayan. "And yes, Mattus gave me a part time job here at Ria. I'll be helping those in the drama department if you must know."
Tiffany was hoping that would put a rest to the embarrassing escapade that happened earlier. Unfortunately her hopes were dashed as Kristen and Jessica barged through the room, frantically demanding what had happened. Tiffany had almost forgotten Kristen's and Jessica's undying love for Mattus. She remembered one day when she hung out with Jessica. All she talked about was "Mattus that" and "Mattus this," it actually caused Tiff to make up a fake doctor's appointment so she could get away from her.
"Where is Miss Savior? If she attacked you, then she should be detained..."
As soon as Tiff heard those words she almost fell back in disbelief. These girls would probably sell their own mother's soul in order to protect Mattus. Shaking her head out of the shock, Tiff took a stern step forward as she pointed her finger at the grueling Kristen.
"Hey now wait a minute, that's not fair! Besides..." Tiff strutted her way towards Mattus, crossing her arms around her chest in a subtle manner.
"If I were to be detained, then you would also need to detain Mattus for sexual harassment."
"Sexual harassment? Mattus would never violate a lady in such a demeaning manner." Kristen stood her ground.
"Really? Well if you had barged in here a few minutes earlier then you would have witnessed Mattus flat on top of me, his face nuzzled in-between my bosom. Even if you don't believe me, we have a witness of this atrocious crime." Tiffany glanced over at Rayan. She knew this wasn't making the situation any better, but her demon side got the better of her. Kristen and Jessica started to sweat a little a bit, feeling a bit discouraged by Tiffany's mind games. Tiffany then pounced over next to Kristen, her arm leaning against her shoulder as she playfully glanced at her nails.
"Why the sudden silence? Don't tell me you're jealous? Have I already gotten more action with Mattus compared to the some odd years that you have been working with him?" Tiffany's voice was seductive yet cold. This comment seemed to pinch a nerve with the girls as they grew more defensive. Without any hesitation, Jessica pushed Rayan off to the side so she could get a better view of Tiffany. A fit of rage consumed her that equaled the actions of a four year old throwing a tantrum.
"NO WAY!! MATTUS DOESN'T LIKE BIG FAKE BOOBY LADIES LIKE YOU!!" Kristen quickly joined in backing up her sister. "We should have you arrested for improper seduction and spilling lies about Mattus." Although the accusations seemed a bit extreme to put Tiff in jail, these girls would have said anything in order to get Tiffany out of their sight. Jessica then turned her attention towards Rayan. She wasn't able to expel all her rage on just Tiffany. "AND YOU!!" Jessica forcefully thrusted her finger onto Rayan's chest. "What exactly was your place in all this?" Jessica then let out a big gasp as she took a step back in disbelief. She had just conjured up something in her mind that could describe Rayan's role in this pile of mess. "You were probably gonna video tape them, weren't you? You were gonna black mail Mr. Mattus with this indecent sex tap because you probably demanded a higher wage when you were a teacher here but Mattus denied your request. You then left Ria and wandered in who knows where thinking of a nasty plot to get back at Mattus. You are truly despicable" Overhearing this, Kristen grew disgusted with Rayan and started to join her sister in her crazy accusations. The girls were so loud you couldn't understand a single word they were saying. Seeing this, Tiffany sighed a bit, feeling like it was a good time to end this crazy rampage. She quickly raised her hand in the air and snapped her fingers together yelling "Cut!" The unexpected occurrence managed to attract Kristen's and Jessica's attention as they suddenly stopped yelling at Rayan and blinked over in confusion at Tiffany.
"Well now, I guess that's a wrap. Good job everyone, you guys were amazing, especially you Kristen and Jessica."
Still confused Kristen softened her shoulders a bit and scratched her head. "W-What do you mean?"
"Sorry for not telling you guys, but this was part of my initiation of getting a job here at Ria. You see Mattus suggested that I do a little improv to show off my acting abilities. The argument you heard was only acting, but you know Mattus, quite a hard person to please. I decided to go all out and I thought slapping him would take him by surprise. Maybe that was bad judgment on my part, but I really didn't mean to hurt him." Tiffany lightly bowed towards Jessica and Kristen hoping they would fall for her trap and forgive her.
"Oh...How about Mattus being squished between your boobs then?" Jessica chimed in.
"Oh, I guess he liked my acting so much that he gave me the job right here and now. I got a little excited and hugged him with gratitude. Unfortunately we both lost our balance and fell backwards. That's where Rayan came in. He was only helping us back on our feet." Tiffany then took several steps forward handling the situation with quick wit. "And the argument that we had was part of the plan too. He wanted to see if I could bring out emotion within other people without them knowing it was all an act in the first place."
Jessica's rage immediately subsided as she let go of Rayan from her death grip. Her expression soon changed to a perky tone that you would expect rainbows to burst through the room any moment now. "OOOH! It all makes sense now! Wow Miss Savior, you're quite talented, you totally had us fooled!" "Yes, quite talented indeed." Kristen cleared her throat, feeling a bit embarrassed that she let her emotions get the better of her. "Well then, I guess everything is ok then. Sorry to disturb you, and welcome to the team Miss Savior!" Jessica politely bowed towards Tiffany as she started to leave the room with her sister. It was amazing how quiet the room got once they left. Tiffany just smirked as she turned her head to face Mattus.
"You can thank me later." She winked feeling a bit triumphant.

[Some slight recap/describing things in-between Tiff's post and mine, then back to the present.]
Rayan averted his eyes when Tiffany made the gravity comment; certainly, it was not the woman's fault that her features were so exaggeratedly animated, but he still found it difficult to keep his eyes respectfully away, despite that Rayan had no desire to oogle at her chest. As such, he flinched--slightly--as he turned to look at Mattus, who was sitting on his desk, wondering what had happened. They engaged in conversation until Tiff's cough interrupted.
"I just gave him a friendly hug. Apparently I went a little overboard and we lost our balance," Tiff explained. She turned to face Rayan again and added, "Mattus gave me a part time job here at Ria. I'll be helping those in the drama department if you must know."
Rayan nodded. Her story made the most sense; the discrepancies between her explanation and Mattus' only meant that Mattus was teasing his longtime friend, as he often did. Well, that was only to be expected.
He opened his mouth to tell Tiffany that he accepted her side of the story, but was quickly overrun by the twin secretaries. As they shouted at Tiff, Rayan felt the need to disappear gradually grow inside his stomach. Then things got much worse.
"...If you had barged in here a few minutes earlier then you would have witnessed Mattus flat on top of me, his face nuzzled in-between my bosom. Even if you don't believe me, we have a witness of this atrocious crime."
Rayan squeezed his eyes shut. Why was she admitting to what had happened, even after he had so carefully blocked the incident from the twins' view? And now she expected him to explain everything after making things difficult. Rayan opened his eyes and returned Tiff's glance; without saying anything, he implored her, Please stop egging these women to maul me alive.
Of course, it was no use. More words were exchanged, and then Rayan felt himself receive a violent shove from the furious Jessica. Tiffany had the secretaries in a complete furor; now Rayan wished he could plug his ears in addition to disappearing.
"AND YOU!! What exactly was your place in all this?"
Rayan felt a finger stab into his chest. A moment later, Jessica gasped, covered her mouth with her hands and stepped back. When she removed her hands a second later, her mouth was working in full steam again. Rayan could only stand there, blinking, as he listened to the myriad of charges fired at him; none of the accusations made any sense.
This is absurd! Rayan thought, beginning to feel a tinge of rage surge into him. He clenched his gloved hands but defended himself only in his mind. I just got here... I wouldn't blackmail my best friend, you fool. I was never a teacher for the wages! "Cut!" The unexpected occurrence managed to attract Kristen's and Jessica's attention as they suddenly stopped yelling at Rayan and blinked over in confusion at Tiffany. Rayan too found himself blinking confusedly at the young woman, who somehow managed to explain away the entire situation. What was more, the secretaries actually bought it. Jessica released him, and he staggered back into the wall with a soft thud. After the secretaries apologized, welcomed Miss Savior to the staff, and left the office, Rayan cloaked his face with his hand.
It was all just too much nonsense for his first day back at Ria High. And he still had yet to discuss with the headmaster his reason for being there.
"You can thank me later," Tiffany said, looking at Mattus. Rayan heard the sound of a golf clap come from Mattus' side of the office. The headmaster sat there, smirking, as if this had all been his idea. Well, actually, it probably was, knowing him...
"Well played, Tiffany. I can tell you're going to perform well here," Mattus said. "What did you think of her acting, Rayan?"
Rayan shook his head as he returned his hands to his side. "Words fail me, sir."
Mattus pointed at Rayan and laughed. His eyes looked like they were beginning to tear up.
"Ha, ha... I bet you've never felt more awkward, Ray. Okay, that's not true... you're always awkward. You've got a point, though." Mattus wiped his eyes dry and then clapped his hands together. "All right, you've got yourself your first raise. You'll get the opening pay rate, plus 10% for getting those annoying secretaries of mine off my back."

Tiff just giggled at the praise she received from Mattus and Rayan. She couldn't help but feel a bit proud of her work as an actress. Well, maybe not so much of an actress. After all it was her wit that got them out of that insane situation. Regardless, Tiff held her head up high as she leaned against one of the bookshelves in Mattus' office. She glanced over at Mattus who seemed to have enjoyed their little escaped and started to tear up from this almost comedic drama. Tiffany couldn't help but laugh at herself as well. Who would have thought a confrontation like this would have happened, especially in such a strange manner.
"Haha, oh please, I wasn't that great. When it comes to Mattus, Jessica and Kristen lose all their senses. It was quite easy to manipulate them from there."
It wasn't until she heard Mattus say that she got a raise that really got her attention. Her eyes spun with money signs as she leapt up in excitement.
"W-Wha? No way?! Haha, wow you're quite generous Mr. Mattus. I promise to put this extra money to good use. Extra money for school!" Tiffany then tilted her head to the side a bit and started to whisper to herself so Mattus or Rayan would hear what she would say next. "...or a nice shopping spree would be nice..."
Aside from the money raises and job offers, there was still one thing that needed to be figured out. What exactly was Rayan doing here? With her recent job offer and the intervention between Jessica and Kristen she had almost forgotten that she had recently spoke to Rayan outside in the courtyard. She knew he had been gone for a while and had an encounter with (or at least had some info on) Ky, but why come back to Ria High all of a sudden? Surely he had a home to go to first. Perhaps he had already gone and just wanted to stop by at Ria High to say hi to Mattus. She didn't really know the relationship between Rayan and Mattus, but from observing their short conversations with one another it was clear that they were good long friends, perhaps even before Rayan was hired as an instructor here. Despite these pondering questions, it wasn't much of Tiffany's concern. She decided to wait it out and see what Rayan's business with Mattus was.

Mattus continued smiling as Tiffany reacted with excitement to his promise of a raise. Oh, the secretaries might question his sudden decision later, but Mattus had always run Ria High with an iron fist, doing whatever he pleased without anyone daring to argue with him...except that his reign was a lot more relaxed and there was always plenty of arguing. The important detail was that he always did what pleased him, and Mattus knew that there were often uses for benefiting certain skilled employees beyond the standard rate; the young and talented Tiffany Savior would definitely prove to be worth the investment.
"So, Rayan, tell me what you're doing here, standing in my office with those disgusting shredded clothes on," Mattus said suddenly. Rayan, surprised, tried to remember what it was he had endured all the chaos for.
Tiffany's and Mattus' eyes met his; Rayan found himself glancing back and forth between the two as he mustered the words to voice his request.
"Well..." Rayan began slowly, pocketing his hands as he spoke, "it's rather important. Should Miss Savior be here while we discuss this?"
Mattus waved him off. "Please, Rayan, it can't possibly be important enough to boot her out of here. She can stay."
"That wasn't what I meant," Rayan said, shaking his head. "I just wanted to let you decide if this should stay private. I've no objections to her being here."
"Relax. Just spill it already, Ray."
"In that case..."
Rayan paused. He had waited quite some time in order to speak to his old friend on this matter, and Rayan wanted to phrase things as carefully as possible.
"As you know, I was once a swordsmanship teacher here," Rayan began. "I taught for three years. At the end of that time, I came to your office and told you that I felt my teaching skills were inadequate. You rebuked me for my negative thinking, but allowed me to resign all the same.
"Since that time, I have spent over a year engaging in mercenary work and fighting intense battles... hence, the damage to my clothing. I have been so focused on increasing my fighting potential that I'd forgotten all about those simple comforts. But as time progressed, I realized that I still wanted to be a part of Ria High; this school that you built, my friend, has shaped me into what I currently am.
"Months ago, I learned of an appropriate use for my newly sharpened abilities. I heard of a group of guardians that presides over the academy, acting both as protectors and administrators who consult the headmaster. They embody the ideals I've been longing for: loyalty to one's friends, dedication to the building of today's youth into tomorrow's future, and the willingness to sacrifice to defend the only home I've really had. These pillars hold the roof over Ria High and defend it from outside aggression. I have come here today to join that society."
Silence followed Rayan's brief speech. Mattus looked intently back at his friend, thought for a moment, and then snickered.
"You wanna join the Obelisks, then, is that it?"
Rayan swallowed forcefully. "Yes."
"Well then," Mattus responded, "you seem determined enough to at least give me a good go during the trials. You've gotten stronger since I saw you last?"
"What you saw in me during my battle with Violet in your training dome is but a shadow of what I have become."
"Is that so."
More silence ensued. Rayan's gaze did not part from his friend's until Mattus stood up.
"Fine. You can take the Pillar Trials. But there's something that has to be taken care of first."
Rayan's heart soared within him. Becoming an Obelisk and serving as a school guardian had been his dream for almost a year.
"What's that, headmaster?"
Mattus pointed his index finger dynamically at Rayan again. "You look like hell! Get yourself a haircut and a new outfit and come back, then we'll talk."
Why is everybody so hung up over how I look? Rayan thought. I mean, my clothes are shot full of holes, but at least I'm clean...
"You there," Mattus said to Tiffany, "your first assignment is to get this dork to look snappy. Take him to the mall or order something online, I don't care, but make him look not sucky. I have important headmaster things to do, so hurry up and get moving. We can talk through any questions you have about your employee rights and benefits another time."
Before either Rayan or Tiffany could speak, Mattus pushed them slowly out of his office, then pressed the button to shut the doors behind them. The abruptness of Mattus' change in plans left Rayan standing next to Tiff in confusion and silence.
"That... went differently than I had envisioned," he said.

Tiffany glanced over to Mattus then to Rayan. Business with them had finally taken off. Once Rayan had mentioned his business with Mattus was quite important, Tiffany felt the obligation to leave the two at peace.
"Oh it's ok Mattus, I can lea-"
Before she could even finish her sentence she was cut off by Mattus himself, suggesting that her presence wouldn't be an issue. Tiffany just lightly nodded her head and faded in the background. Even though she had no significant say in the matter, she was still quite intrigued of what Rayan wanted from Mattus. She listened intently of what Rayan was proposing. Declaring his mercenary work and engaging in many battles. This little story actually caught Tiff's attention as Rayan must have traveled the world far and wide if he were to be a traveling mercenary. There could be so many things he could tell her. It wasn't until the mention of the Obelisks that really grasped her focus. Everyone in Ria High knew about the Obelisks, however debate of whether the Obelisks were real or just a legend always seemed to cause split ends with the students.
The Obelisks...elite warriors that protected Ria High from many dangers that loomed over it. Only the best of the best could join the Obelisks.
Tiffany then looked over to Rayan who seemed to be a bit nervous of his request. Apparently there would be some sort of trial in order to join. Whatever was in this trial it must be rough and pain staking if it meant a spot in the Obelisks. Suddenly Tiff broke free from her thought as Mattus pointed out his ragged clothes. It was then that he demanded Tiff to go with Rayan to pick out some new clothes for him. Confused, Tiff wobbled back to the foreground and brought herself back in the conversation.
"Wait, wha--?!"
Before another word could be spoken, Mattus shoved both Rayan and Tiffany out of his office and before anything could be done or said, his doors closed behind him. Tiffany blinked a few times in confusion as she just stared at the door in front of her. Truly Mattus is strange guy. Sighing in disbelief Tiff just turned around and took one step ahead of Rayan.
"Well I guess we have no other choice."
Tiff lightly nodded towards Rayan and started walking forward, hoping he would follow after her. Her purse clung loosely around her shoulders as it bounced abruptly against her side. She didn't really know what to think of this matter.
"That Mattus is quite odd. To be honest I never quite envisioned him like that." Making small talk Tiff just smiled at Rayan continuing on with her conversation. "You know, I kind of know how you feel." Tiff turned her head in the direction she was walking, lowering her head a bit, almost as if she was trying to remember something. "Joining the Obelisks. All you really want to do is help Ria to be a part of it again. In a way, it's just like me. I came back here because I felt like I needed to contribute back." Tiffany clutched the strap on her purse tighter as she started to remember. "I don't have a home to go back to. Both my parents are deceased and the village that I grew up in has been turned into a desolate wasteland. I was luckily taken in at the Galaxy Federation Academy, but they felt I needed to go to a real school, especially one that could train my special abilities. I guess Ria High has always been a place I could call home. All the friends, all the memories here...and besides..." Tiffany's voice lowered with a melancholy feel. She was so wrapped up in thought, her emotions got the better of her. "Maybe if I stay here...then maybe he would come back and I can finally confess my..."
Before she could finish her sentence Tiffany quickly regained her composure and knocked herself out of her mild daydream. Tiffany just looked over to Rayan and gave him a cheesy smile.
"Oh, well it's not that important. Anyways we should hurry on up to the mall so we can get you some new clothes. Trust me, getting something new and clean will make you feel refreshed and new."
Tiffany then playfully patted Rayan's head and flicked his nose with her index finger. "Think of it as a new chapter at Ria High." Tiffany gave one last smile towards Rayan as she opened the doors to the outside world.

Rayan walked a pace behind Tiffany as they left the administrative offices and headed towards the southern school entrance. Her statement about Mattus intrigued Rayan, who had known Mattus most of his life; thinking back to the uproar they had just gone through back at his office, he thought that Mattus' impulsive decision-making antics must strike people like Tiffany, who were not particularly familiar with him, as bizarre. "Granted, Mattus definitely has his quirks. I would guess that not many people know what to expect when meeting him for the first time," Rayan said. Out of curiosity, he added, "how did you envision him? Some stuffy, upstanding gentleman wearing a Fedora?" Rayan could not help but chuckle at the mental image he had given himself of the faux-Mattus. As the duo moved through the hallways, past the quiet murmurs slipping through the sometimes cracked-open classroom doorways, Tiffany continued to engage Rayan in conversation... deep conversation, in fact. Rayan held his tongue as he pondered her perspective on his motivation for joining the Obelisks. She was right, to a degree: Rayan could not rid himself of his love for his alma mater. He had graduated from the school and attended college, only to return as a teacher with a passion for teaching the next generation his knowledge of swordplay. Having failed at that, Rayan had left discouraged with himself, but here he had returned, seeking to contribute in a more suitable method. There was, however, another motivation. It was true that he yearned to return to the one place where action and education intertwined, where things always happened, to protect the generation he felt himself ill-suited to teach himself. Rayan felt that nothing would make him more proud of his own achievements than to stand at the gates of the school and stare down foes who wished to take control of or obliterate the most famous mercenary academy in the land, as during the Majin attacks several years prior. Heat burned in Rayan's chest as he remembered the day he decided that he would join the Obelisks; the memories of blood and savagery returned to him. A hated enemy still walked this earth; a red-eyed warrior with the strength and the heart of a demon and a blood lust larger than Centropolis city itself. This man, known to Rayan only as Gai, slayer of his friend Xavier, had defeated Rayan also in combat... tossing the teacher aside with a weaker form of his own technique with ease. The villain wandered freely still, and the cry for justice hammered in Rayan's temples every time he thought of his unavenged comrade. This was his second reason for seeking the power of the Obelisks: Rayan had sworn to his friend's soul that he would do his utmost to avenge him. Hot breath escaped audibly from Rayan's nostrils. He reminded himself to remain calm; he did not need to stew over his friend's murder around Miss Savior, especially when he was finally within reach of joining the Obelisks and hunting Gai down himself. He calmed himself by listening to the young woman's words, but found himself short of breath again upon hearing her story. Out of respect for her loss and a desire to not pry at old wounds, Rayan did not comment when she mentioned her parents' death and the destruction of her village. He realized that this beautiful, clumsy blonde had gone through many hardships already, at such a young age... and yet, she thought often of helping others and giving back to the school that had given her refuge. Rayan told himself that, should he gain her trust, he would tell her someday how highly he thought of her bravery and selflessness. "Maybe if I stay here...then maybe he would come back and I can finally confess my..." Rayan had barely caught Tiffany's whisper. Thinking back to when they had first officially met a mere hour ago in the courtyard, Rayan wondered... the fury she had expressed before might possibly be a cover for strong affections towards the person she claimed to detest. Perhaps, if he met with Ky again, he would deliver a different message than the one Tiffany had given him... "Oh, well it's not that important. Anyways we should hurry on up to the mall so we can get you some new clothes. Trust me, getting something new and clean will make you feel refreshed and new." Rayan flinched as the young woman flicked his nose. He covered it with his hand briefly and looked at her, then sighed and returned his hands to his ripped jacket pockets. "Think of it as a new chapter at Ria High," Tiffany told him, and opened the massive glass doors to the radiant sunshine and luscious grass outside. Oh, well. She's helping me, so I can't really complain if she decides to tease me a bit... Rayan grumbled. After a moment, he snickered at himself and smiled. Perhaps being teased wasn't so bad... they were only headed for the mall, after all, and he might learn to have fun while they were there. {Story continues at Forest Lake Mall}
