He scowled a bit at the small female, hackles still bristling at the thought of being disturbed while moving out...Haku could follow and bring them back. Not that he didn't respect Haku, but he wanted to make his own pack...own lands and keep his own family safe. Without the aid of the old male. He huffed a bit, and nodded. Nile, eh? Well, this mute female was as good as one of those furs Meal Ticket carried in that...'bag' of his. "You get in the way, I rip your throat out." His tone was harsh, obviously threatened slightly by the thought of Haku coming to find his daughter, and his former pack mates. Gaara himself was strong, but the scar on his chest was an ever apparent reminder of Hige--that older male. And, how clumsy he was, as well..a shudder ran through him. He gave a whuff and kept moving.
She'd whimper a bit at Gaara's tone, but would nod to Lexi's comments slightly. Looking up to the humans, she'd remember Bran--Meal Ticket. Heh. Her tail wagged a bit in recognition, and moved over to them...lowering her head and tail as she passed Lexi, of course, coming up between the two humans. She'd raise up a bit, planting a paw on both Bran and Hinto's backs--upper for Hinto, lower for Bran, and sniffed at the hand on Hinto's shoulder curiously. Maw parted in a silent whuff of her own.

Lexi lifts her own head and tail in response, the Alpha's pose, pleased at Niles defrence in some instinctual part of her core. Nile, unless something went wrong, apparently intended to be part of their new pack. Although Nile isn't the strongest wolf, it gives Lexi a certain degree more confidence that they can succeede. No...that they WILL succede. She has no intention of letting Haku drag them back by the ear. Thats not how things are going to play out. Not if she has her say.
Bran gives a slight 'oof' shifting his weight to support that of the adolecent wolf now propped against him. "Well..." He chuckles, lifting the hand to let her examine it. "It's safe to say she remembers me..." He fumbles with his other hand to try and extract a little bit of jerky from his coat. It will soon be too warm for the wool and leather coat, but in the cool spring air it's still comfortable. "Hey there, beautiful." He says softly, using even, soft tones to try and make sure things stay calm.

Hinto listened quietly, Hakan's tone was all too easy to reconize from the others. Angry and frusterated growls coming from him towards the new female - or so he could tell. He never growled like that to his mate wolf. Why the male was so angry he couldn't guess, but then again Hakan didn't sound like the kind of wolf that got along with others much. He had been dangerous to Bran when he had been hurt, and Bran had only been helpful to the wolf. It was understandable that he'd be most unfriendly with others that he didn't know or like much. The boy did hope that the wolf would be nice to her eventually like he did him, though Bran still told him to be always careful.
A wolf soon came close to them, the young female by the voiceless wuff. He slowly reached a hand out, carefully meeting with the female's shoulder and stroking it gently. Smiling a bit he let his eyes part just slightly, "I think she likes you, Bran."

"Well either that..." Bran offers an broken peice of jerky to the mute wolf. "Or she knows I've got Jerky. I can sort of easily see her being affectionate about that..." Perhaps a little cynical, but a few jerky bribes have never hurt too much with the wolf pack. "There's a funny thought, what do you suppose they call us?" He chuckles, and tosses out a few more pieces of jerky to Lexi and Gaara, better not to offend the rank structure, they're wolves, not dogs, and intelegent ones at that, possibly likely to remember a unintended snub.
Lexi sniffs at one of the peices of jerky before eating it thoughtfuly, remembering the bits of dry meat from the winter. Strange and interesting, to keep meat that way. Something like when the pack burried an deer carcass in case of poor hunting. "Two leggers are smarter than most give them credit for aren't they?" She says thoughtfuly. "Maybe we'll be able to figure out some means to communicate with them if we work at it." Speech of course is out of the question. Two leggers don't speak, they just make funny noises, like the one the big one's making now, which seems to indicate that he thinks somthing is amusing, but it's hard to say what.

Hinto chuckled at the thought of wolves naming people. What would they call him? Probibly little something, hopefully not "Blue"... that would just be a bit more dull. Seeing as the name came from his disability it wasn't one that he thought too highly of. He hoped if they named him it was something more noble, perhaps he was hoping a bit much. Only being five he wished for things that weren't even physically possible and believed whole-heartedly that it would happen. He wished to understand the wolves, turn into one perhaps. What fun it would be to run with them. He pondered a bit, resting his stick in the nook of his arm as he rubbed at his chin, "I'll think of a good name for her. Not like Blue, like something about how she's strong. I bet she'd like that. Both she-wolves would."

He sniffed at the jerky momentarily, before eating it down..of course. It was good, but as Lexi was thinking, a weird way to keep meat. He snorted a bit at Bran in his 'thanks', and smirked...he wasn't the most trusting, but these two humans had grown on him. They were part of the pack, and they would remain so..He whuffed a bit at his mate, "Yeah, I lived with them when I was a pup...The only problem is that they make all that annoying sound..." Rolling his eyes a bit, he chuckled and shoved her a bit with his shoulder. "They grownin` on you, Lexi?" He taunted, and laughed a bit. He was trying to be light hearted--but he was still tense.
She'd nab the piece of jerky, and eat it of girl...a winded, and silent, 'whuff' of thanks escaping her. She dropped onto all fours and walked between the two lazily--despite the lack of spaced between the two humans, she squeezed herself in there. Maybe she just liked humans automatically? Bran had been the first one she had ever seen as a pup..and he left a good impression on her. She knew not of the enemy humans..and her parents would most likely not want her to be this close, but...this was her call now.

Lexi considers this softly, watching Nile press herself between the two humans. She can easily see a strange sort of bond forming there. "I think they could be...in a strange way, although they make such funny noises. That stick thrower is so strange too...but I saw him bring a deer to the cabin once with one of his funny sticks sticking out of it, while you were healing.
Bran smiles, surprised but pleased at Nile. Wolves are a social creature, and at least some part of him knows that touch plays a deep role in their social interactions. "I think she would like that. I'm sure they have a good name for you too." He ruffles Hinto's hair gently as they walk.

Hinto laughed softly as the little she-wolf nuzzled inbetween him and Bran. She seemed so happy, so friendly it was strange compared to how wolves first acted when they met him. "I think she likes us already, Bran." He laughed again, reaching out with his free hand to gently stroke along her head and neck, finding her ear after a good deal of petting and gently scratching just behind its nook. "Friendly little girl... Bran, let's call her Lakota. It means "Friend". I think it's a good name for her." He chuckled again as Bran ruffled up his hair, reaching his hands up to pat the black locks back down. He returned his hands to their former posts, one on the top of his seeing stick and the other on the shoulder of the little she-wolf.
He closed his eyes again, his brow wrinkling a bit as it always did when it seemed he was listening really hard or thinking seriously on something. The other she-wolf needed a name. "The other wolf girl can be.... Taima." He paused for a moment, putting a hand up to his chin, trying to think of a way to describe it. "It means the great noise from the sky, the sound that the storm makes when it flapps its wings..." he didn't know the word for it in Bran's language, so he tried to mock the sound for him.

..What a strange sound that boy just made. He cast a wary glance back at the child next to Bran..and Nile tucking herself between the two humans like a pet dog. He wrinkled his nose...he could say nothing against it, since he had been that as a pup...a pet, an animal used as a comfort toy. He snorted a bit, and shook his head at his mate's comment. "Meal Ticket--he hunts deer like we do. But..he saves the fur for himself...I guess those two leggers cant grow their own fur...so they use other animals' to keep them warm."
Shrugging slightly to himself, he eyed Lexi questioningly..."Aw. Did you get a soft spot for them, pup?" He mocked, nudging her a bit as he nuzzled under her jaw a bit...submitting, but at the same time somehow showing dominance to her...being close to her neck and all. Yes, he was strange...but she had probably gotten used to that by now.
Nile looked up at the two curiously, before canting her head and pressing closer to the boy's hand that was at her ear. She leaned more heavily towards the boy, but not enough to knock him over...just enough to show that she enjoyed the attention. A silent breath that would have probably been a 'whuff' escaped her...and she gave a grin to herself...nothing the humans would see as a grin, but a grin all in all. She enjoyed this make-shift pack...it was quiet and yet...so protective and safe. That's what she wanted to feel...safe and secure.

Quote: Indigo = Rune Brown = Gaara He laid casually and calmly along the boulder facing a large lake, his paws draiped easily over the side of the smoothe grey surface and his hind legs tilted to one side as his long tail rested just behind them. His vibrent aqua eyes watched as the sun danced on the glass-still water of the lake. Now and then a breeze would stirr up, making the dance far more interesting. He was a fair creature, a pelt the color of the skies just before the rain with large blue patterns winding, looping, and embracing nearly every inch of him. Two large white "wings" spread from his chest down his flank while smaller ones graced his hind legs. Soon elder, he prayed quietly, I will find a master that deserves my loyalty.
They had yet to reach the grounds that they would call 'home'...but with two humans and a mute, he had to be on the lookout, of course. His own pelt consisted of earthen coloration...ebone strings rushing about his paws and over his face, framing his eyes and maw. Canting his head slightly in the direction he scented another wolf, he frowned...a pup. How strange for one to be out on their own. Without saying a word, he would motion for Lexi and the others to keep going...stepping in the direction he scented the other male...he wasn't looking to pick a fight, moreso to figure out what was going on.
Rune took a long deep breath, his black lips pulling back into a smile. Ah yes, another wolf was coming. An adult by the scent of it, confident, proud, powerful. Perhaps they would be worth his time. His former pack had been a weak one. A father who valued the opinions of other packs moving into their territory and a mother who tolerated it. Trespassing left them weak, vaunerable. Other packs might bring in friends just as easily as enemys. He had listened to the elder's teachings, the old shaman of the pack before he had passed away. The code of the wolf, the true way they were to live. He promised to find a pack worthy of such ideals once the old wolf had passed on. "Are you leading them to me at least, elder?" He turned his head to the side, watching over a shoulder.
What the hell was he talking about. He held his head high, tail matching the stance..showing dominance, of course, but this pup..wasn't part of the pack. He heard murmurs from him as he got closer, and he frowned slightly...before ceasing his steps a few yards away. "Oi, pup," he called, and would straighten his body a bit, "What're you doing so far out on your own? These lands are not safe," he, of course, was speaking of Haku's pack...if this pup seemed 'evil' in any way, it'd be torn to bits in moments.
He smiled softly, a pleasent enough expression. His eyes moved over this wolf slowly. A giant wolf... he'd heard stories of wolf gods that grew to sizes beyond any wolf. Perhaps this one was a decendant of them. Rolling to a sit he lifted his head, "Aye." He spoke softly, his voice was a gentle one, but a bit distant, "I've my reasons as I'm sure you do. Tell me, of what pack are you from?"
Frowning, he would flick his tail in slight annoyance, before stepping forward a few more feet...then stopped as the pup rolled to a sit. He wasn't afraid of this pup--but he may be of his companions...whom he didn't scent, nor see...which probably meant he was alone. "I dont believe that's any of your business, pup." Was his reply, a cant of the head given...a wicked smirk running over deep ebone lips.."Unless you make it your business..Then you deal with me.." He was cocky, yes, and his mind raged for an unknown reason...that spark of insanity of his childhood having returned not too long ago.
The pup chuckled a bit and shook his head, "Violence. Not always the best way to solve things. No I'm not a fool... I'm not here to challange you." He glanced up a bit, "Though I must wonder why a pup poses a challange to you. I am alone if that is any comfort, I've abandoned my pack for another that I find worthy."
Arching a brow, he shifted to leap up onto a nearby boulder, closer to the pup. Stepping forward, he would plant his large paws a mere foot or so from Rune...staring down at him. "No challenge, the lack of one is what bothers me." He sneered, before frowning a bit more once again.."Why desert a pack at such a young age? Surely you're just in a fit and will go back." He knew how it was to go from pack to pack--it worked at mind and body..not always in a good way.
"They were unfit to be called a pack." He narrowed his eyes a bit, "My father welcomed others into our lands unchecked. Wicked wolves with burning eyes, grinning maws. The elder foresaw their ruin- an old blind shaman who knew the old ways. I was his pupil though I'm none of the shaman kind, he taught me what he knew and told me to leave the pack at the hour of his death and find a pack worth his teachings... and my loyalty." He turned his head to the side a bit, considering.
.. Small thing, that he was. He would seat himself down on his rear, continuing to stare down at the male with a scowl...was he taunting him, or merely explaining his presence here? He couldn't tell. Voices rushed through his head, and he would shake his head slightly to clear his thoughts..."It isn't safe here for a pup," he insister, and looked towards the water quietly...before wrinkling his nose a bit.
"Nor was it with my pack. The elder foresaw their fate." He turned his head to face the water as well. "It's so peaceful isn't it? The light on the water I mean. It's hard to think anything cruel could exist in the world when places like this are so...silent. Peaceful and beautiful. I'd bet my pelt that isn't not nearly as welcoming come sundown."
"You'd win that bet.." He murmured and would smirk a bit...wondering to himself why he was speaking to this pup on an equal level as his mate, at this point. "You say you're searching for a pack?" Maybe he should offer...or not..their pack was growing, and he wasn't sure if this pup would be good in it or not. But he seemed smart...it could make up for the mute.
"Yes... the elder's final request was for me to seek out a pack that deserved me. Those were his words wheather they're valad or not I suppose time will tell." He continued to watch the water, praying in the back of his mind that the elder was still keeping watch over him.
The corner of his mouth twitched a bit, "We have yet to create a 'pack'...at least, in my mind. My mate..a mute and two humans. A growing pack..strong so far." His tone was bland, not bragging..nothing to brag about, besides his mate, of course, who he could most likely make any male wolf drool over...

Rune's eyes widened a bit at the mention of humans. The elder had known of them and described them in many ways. He said that there were just as many kinds of humans as there were wolves, not all were cruel but on the same note not all were kind. The ones with the darker pelts were natives to the land, they respected the wolf and in the old days they lived side by side as brothers. Humans killed the wolf but the wolf killed the human, but in a way they worked together. They lived in the same land, followed the same prey by following one another. It was an odd bittersweet relationship like any in nature, those creatures were part of the land in those times. Recently, his elder had said, there was a new breed of human that brought magic that even killed the native humans. A magic that sent stones of fire into their enemy from a shining stick that roared like thunder. They rode large creatures, larger than deer even, with hooves and long manes. They had introduced more creatures to the land, smaller ridiclous wolves that would obey the humans, slaves to them rather than brothers with them. The thought made the wolf wonder. If the humans this one spoke of were one or the other. Was this wolf a brother or a slave? All in time, he'd not ask as it was a question that would rightfully offend.
A mute... a mute wolf. Sounded interesting. Deformities in life often were a hidden blessing. Though the old shaman of his pack was blind, he was infanantly wise and had a different way of seeing, a deeper more meaningful sight. He had lived to become frail and thin, grey muzzled but still magnifican in the pup's eyes. Perhaps the mute had a deeper voice than they could understand? A purpose in her disability.
His mate- so he did have a mate, he spoke of her with great pride. He'd heard of wolftress queens that ruled over the packs rather than the males. More clever and cunning than the males, according to the elder.
He took a long breath, looking back to the male, a bit of a pupish smile coming to his maw, "All things start out small... the greatest treen in the wood was once but a mere seed, at the mercy of the woodland creatures it now rules over them. A small pack, yes, but with the right roots it might just flourish."

Another figure had followed, yet at a very long distance behind. It was none other than Lerdien, the infamous female (or "witch wolf") that seemed to be thought of so often, espcially in the humans and most notcably in Bran. The quick-silver female strolled dily, taking her time as she followed her senses, relying on her mind, as well. At any point in time she could tell where any creature was, simply by their thoughts. Large frame walked as flag hung between her hackles, a non threatening sign of submission, a post that lera was not often seen in.
In the past, when Gaara was young, Lera had soothed his wounds and emotions and she always knew his ideals of creating a pack with lexi, the young fiery she-wolf. The seer meant no harm in these formations, but they had left so suddenly, and without notice. Curiosity had taken hold of her and she only moved forward with the expectation to greet and secure that bond between the wolves. Lera understood the concept of forming one's own pack, how much pride was invested in it, and she wasn't about to let Gaara lose that pride. She would not interfeer, but only wish them well.
But they had her daughter, Nile. Each one of her children had their own lives to like. Keara was God knows where, Fleance was in the neutral territory, and Nile was here, with Gaara. It was always bittersweet seeing a pup off into the world, and apparently the motherly bond Lera heald still hadn't dissapated.
Humans were hear as well, the amiable blind human and the older one, whom Lera thought of indifferently. She approached the small gathering slowly, her ears parted to either side in a non agressive stance. Kodak moment anyone? "Greetings," she exclaimed as her slow walking halted to a stop.
((Thal - I think it be cool if Lera got some rp time with hinto, to communicate with her seer powers, as he wishes to talk to a wolf, no? XP))

Hinto turned a bit, listening to the wolves around him. He could feel the silent one, Lakota, beside him and Bran. She was making happy wolf sounds, panting and without the hint of a growl. He could feel her ears perked up and the slight movment in her body that a wagging tail would cause. Smiling he gently ran his hands down her back, he liked the feel of their fur, liked to feel them breating and always had fun trying to catch swishing tails, "She likes me, Bran." He laughed as she pushed into him a bit more, begging to have her ear scratched at more, "Okay, okay, calm down now, I can't stand against a big she-wolf like yourself, you'll knock me flat!" He laughed again, feeling his way back to her head to scratch at her ears. It was then that Hakan's voice wuffed slightly and his heavy footsteps rushed away until he could no longer make them out. A bit of a confused frown crossed his face, an expression that he took on mainly when in thought or when something was new and strange to him. "Hakan's leaving...?"
Then the sound of more paws, slower and much ligher. The walk sounded firmilar- proud like the chief wolves had. Her voice in the wuff was firmilar to him, it was the witch wolf that Bran wasn't fond of. She was nice to him, never spoke like Bran said she could. He didn't quite know what to make of her. "....Bran... the witch wolf's back. Is she mad?" He coudln't tell- as far as he knew these wolves could all be her children, she might think that they stole them or some other such nonsense.
Rune paused in his speaking, lifting his head as a new scent carried on the wind drifted to him. "...hmmm... more wolves. A pack- must be yours." He turned his head in thought, "I thought.... you said that you had only two females, I scent three... and the two humans you mentioned. My what an odd smell those thins have. Are they tame?"

Nile flicked her ears here and there, before feeling the boy scratch at them again. Though, she froze instantly--the scent of her mother. Slipping from between the two humans, she would turn slightly to stare back at her mom..she knew that Lera had the ability hear her soundless words..which was a gift to her, since she was normally unable to speak with anyone, of course, due to the lack of noises she could make. She wagged her tail slightly, Mother, she called in her mind...wondering if Lera could hear her or not. She had left suddenly, yes, but she wanted to follow them as quick as she could..a mute wolf was as good as dead if she wasn't with others...something could try to pick her off, and she couldn't call for help.
.. ..Three females? s**t. He growled lowly, and lifted his head a bit..he knew that scent. Looking down to the pup, he canted his head a bit...before wrinkling his nose.."You may come with us if you want, I dont advise you to stay out here alone...and my mate would most likely love to have you around." He didn't know if she was a sucker for pups or not--but oh well, "I..must tend to this." Pausing a second at the question, though, he frowned.."They are 'tame'...they dont try to kill us, and the larger one gets us food sometimes. The smaller one is a tag along," he would give a shrug, or as much of a shrug that he could give, and turned a bit to head back..
Now, to deal with Lera. He moved forward in a quick trot, head held high, as well as tail, but the look on his face...was not pleasent. Sure, he knew Lera enough to know that she would not harm them. But they had left without 'permission' and Haku may come along before they gained their barings.

Bran stiffens as the bushes part and Nile turns, his bow coming to his hands smoothly, the bow string creaking slightly as it's drawn to the limit. The compound bow, and this is the reason for his choise, is historicly one of the most powerful bows. Hard to string, hard to pull, but capable of punching a hole in armor in the right hands. His hands have been using such a weapon for a very long time. "She's not growling, her hackles are down..." He accnoledges to Hinto. "Stay close to me please..." His tense tone, and the almost tremor in his voice indicate that he still has no trust for this creature, and for good reason. He's never met a wolf that felt the need to attack something that was behaving in submission until he met Her
Lexi bristles in surprise, taken aback as the wind had not until just now let her know that they were being followed. The small, swift she wolf moves quickly in front of Hinto, Bran and Nile, shoulders squared defensively, head held high. "Greetings, Yourself. Alpha of my Teacher's Pack." She anounces, politely separating herself verbaly from Haku's pack. "I'm no seer but I think I guess your question. Nile followed us, we accept this. She knows that our pack is now separate from yours and wishes to follow us." She lets all unspoken warnings hang, the promise that since Nile has desided to follow them, she won't let part of her small pack be taken lightly.
