For this occassion of boarding only would she indulge them in clothed feet, flimsy slippers that would dare cover the novelty of her slave anklets as the cloak floated across the Vane. A bright orange velvet it was, covering her from head to thigh as the ruffles of skirts peered out the rest of the way. This woman was hurried. For the irony of her flamboyancy her pace begged discretion and single-mindedness: The ship. The arc of the port, chaste virgin in the eyes of hope....and she would be its rider, and it her confidant. She carried a single bag with her as she glided alongside of The Seraphim, with her free hand rubbing the regal invitation between her fingers. "Mage and Entertainer" was its claim, and mage and entertainer she would have to prove to be. Although with her dressy flairs it was quite evident that she wished to think of herself as something special and peculiar too, unlike the other roles of the ship. Among the crowd she noticed crates and barrels being loaded and paused from her haste to see a catching sight on the ground before her. She did not know why she was drawn to this apple, it was as red and plain as any other- but creepingly she knelt and extended her hand to the fruit only to be met by a very sudden surprise. It was not real, and to her imaginary touch the orb withered a dreary black and disappeared in the light of a sprout blue flame. A portent! Removing the hood of her cloak in disbelief, the fair face tried to discern if a misdirection of light had deceived her. No, she smiled. No. This was no mistake, nor an image to be forgotten. Rising from the ground her abysmal eyes looked upward at the hull and halted, wondering what this could mean for the voyage. It did not matter for now, she supposed- for she simply had to board this vessel. Noting a nearby crate of apples she smirked and traced her finger playfully along its side as if that would soothe the omen for at least a small time. Then it was back to business and she turned to the plank, beginning to ascend from the land to the happy future the journey across the sea promised.

Peregre.

She stopped short behind the couple just ahead of her, waiting her turn as nonchalantly as possible. Being stuck at impasse between the ship and land, just above the sea, yet made her slightly uncomfortable. But as the wind began to brush against the strands of burnt brown she had revealed with her visage, Siduri felt slightly eased. She was almost there, and fine to wait.

"Rhiannon Deleste. My father appointed me to accompany the voyage as Patroness. Mere politics, really." she said dryly. "Oh, and you shouldn't have to worry about any lechery happening on board The Seraphim." She smiled, genuinely at that. If there is... there will be hell to pay. I'm not here to babysit.

Her attention shifted to a lone woman who had come up behind. She was very beautiful, and Rhi thought so jealously. Not that she would ever voice such thoughts. She studied the woman calculatingly, suspicious of her appearance. She looked like a gypsy, and she didn't trust that. Why would they let someone like her on board such a ship? She frowned, and tried to focus back on the couple before her, though her eyes flickered back and forth.

((Yuck. I'm tired, so it's shortish.))

"Good to hear!" Rosette said. Either she didn't catch Rhiannon tone, or she'd just ignored it. "Look forward to working with all of you! I can't wait to get a look around this ship!"

"Rhiannon?" Chrono added. "I heard that name mentioned somewhere of a Goddess by the same name once."

The hand that grasped her invitation also wrapped her robe tighter around her person after feeling a slight chill against her skin.
Don't panic now, you're almost there.... Her mental assurance didn't seem to cut it though as the few in front of her continued their idle chit-chat. Her feet even fidgeted a bit in a dancing way. But before long Siduri could feel occassional glances in her direction from at least one of the commentators, to which her own eyes had to shift to see. Truly focusing now, the lady choked back a snicker. An older woman of imperial mien, with hair as long as her own and dressed to the nines in battle-ready armor. Even the axes at her sides seemed to scream their distrust to Siduri, as she could imagine of what she must certainly be thinking of her. Only a gypsy would wear such extravagant colors as she did...only a gypsy would wear a fourth of her weight in jewelry. But no gypsy known in the greater parts of Rishvell was as white as she, the lightest colored Romany to be found was at least a mulatto. Siduri didn't doubt that she blared suspicion in such manner, as it was hard to just be a gypsy alone. Yet it was imperative that she remained unphased, coy to the fact they might even watch her for awhile. Her invitation was foolproof, for at least as long as it mattered, and with that sound assumption the dark irises turned away to gaze peacefully at the sea.

Rhiannon was growing impatient with the talk. She had never been one to carry on long, unimportant conversations - a trait she had also seemed to take from her father, unfortunately. Besides, the strange young woman was proving to be more of interest. She frowned at Chrono's statement, and replied in a strained tone, almost like a mother telling something to her child that she knows they won't understand.

"Yes, I'm sure you have. I think I heard stories about her, that she was the Goddess of night, death, and fertility. She also rode a horse that no one could catch." Rhi ended, shifting on her feet. I like the sound of reigning over death and night... and the fact that she was accused of devouring her own child. A saint, really. she thought to herself with concealed sarcasm. They were only foolish myths, and no such goddess existed.

"Now, if you please, it seems we have a line forming because of this wonderful chat." She tried to smile, and held her arm out as if inviting on board the boat. She did not wait for them to move on before turning to focus on the... 'gypsy'. Though an odd gypsy she was. Usually there were a few here and there in Port Vane, dancing or singing in the streets. This one was an expection, however, because she was so incredibly pale in comparision. My, my, my. I wonder what father was thinking?

Reaching out, Rhi took the invitation in the girl's hands without asking first. She scanned it, and humphed lightly.

"Mage and entertainer, are you, Lady Siduri?" she questioned, eyeing the flamboyant dress and ample jewelery. She bit her tongue, willing herself to swallow any vicious comments - she'd have to work on that. "Welcome to the grand Seraphim. We will soon be setting sail, so I would ask that you follow Veridus to a room and then return to the deck."

Veridus had been waiting with infinite patience. He was used to working with Rhiannon and her bossy way of treating those beneath her, though she did tend to give a tip or two. With this in mind, he was gracious and quiet.

"Please," he said, motioning to the hatch that lay wide open in the center of the deck. "Follow me, all of you. We find you bunks, yes?"

"Sure thing! I'm ready to see what kind of place we'll been in for the next few months!" Rosette said. She was practically shaking with excitement. It was doubtful that even a punch to the face could change her mood now.

"Er... My apoligies, Lady Rhiannon." Chrono said as he moved aside.

"Chrono, you don't have to apoligize for her being so stuck up." Rosette corrected as they Veridus.

"Well, I did think it'd be best to not gain ill favor with anyone before we even set sail."

With the snatch of her note came her snap to attention, her head turning sharp enough so as her earrings resonated with a little jingle. The warrioress was obviously well-accustomed to speaking through the mask of good will, but her 'humph' did not slip by. Siduri smirked lightly to that. The daggers of stinging words were lodged in the other woman's throat and she could not release them in such mixture of new company. Better appreciate this as much as she could, then, while she had the luxury. Seeing how the impatience to rush the gypsy off was in the regal woman's tone, Siduri was about to pass her wordlessly by and follow the man as instructed. But thinking better of it, for the sake of the appearances that seemed favored, she gave a short reply.

"Thank you."

Then passing the plank, she finally boarded. The deck was beneath her feet and it felt as if almost all ties to Rishvell were cut from her. It was a wonderful feeling. Quietly, she lined up behind Veridus and awaited for him to lead the way.

Veridus gave a toothy grin and turned toward the hatch. There were a few people climbing out of it, but it would clear when he got there. Expecting them to follow, he strode on and started down the vertical wooden ladder with a jolly whistle on his lips.

"Come, come! A life on the ocean wave, a-home on the rolling deep, where the scattered waters rave and the winds their revels keep!" He broke out into a low and gusty song as he trooped down the hallway and stopped in front of one of the many doors. Pushing it open, he waved them inside.

"I be hopin' you won't be uncomforted to be in a room all together? There'll be four bunks in this here room. One of the nicer ones, I reckon!" he beamed. The room was indeed nice, for sailor's quarters. Two set of bunks beds lined either wall, clean and smooth wood that appeared to be new, as most of the ship did. The beds were decked out with mattresses and quilts, prepared for the cold sea travel. Drawers under the bottom bunks, a large chest in the one corner, and a small desk in the other provided some room for storage. All in all, it would be squishy, but not too trying. They were, after all, mages and a navigator. Wonderful.

"Ha! This is better than what I'm used to!" Rosette beamed looking around. "Oh! I want a top one!"

She was like a kiddy child with a new toy as she threw her bag onto the top bynk and climbed up.

"Hmm, soft!" She said, spreading out across the matress. "Wow, you guys know how to treat a girl!"

"Rosette, we should get to unpacking. We are supposed to meet the rest of the crew later."

"Aww! Just five more minutes! Pwease!"

Veridus smiled and shook his head kindly. Such young hearts on this ship! He didn't think she'd be quite so happy and giddy after a couple weeks confined on board. Younger people always seemed to have the harder time adjusting to ship life.

"Nah, little miss, the bell will'a be ringin' soon, I reckon. Soon's it does, yous all come on up, right? We'll be in a rush to be gettin' a'sail!" he chuckled and walked back down the hallway, his job was done.

Even as he did, he heard the first peal of six, ringing out over the harbor. The activity suddenly increased. Crew and passengers bursted from the doors all along the wide stretching hallway and made their way for the hatch. Veridus hurried his pace, so he wouldn't get in the way. The second ring faded away. These six bells would signify that it was 7:00 am, and it was more than time to get going.

Rhiannon heard the bells with something like relief and anxiety. So, it had begun. The gangplank was pulled in, and an impossible amount of crew set to the work of actually moving the ship. Now, where was that captain? She got herself moving and walked up the steps and stood at the railing infront of the wheel. She looked down and out over the vast expanse of white deck, the shouts and movement creating a booming of noise. The wind increased, and she supposed it was acting in response to the magic in the sails. They were spelled to attract the wind, so the ship would not be becalmed for lack of propulsion. That would ensure a faster voyage. Still, they would have to stop in a few ports along the way, for fresh water and supplies.

Many people filled out of the hatch and collected in the space near below her, letting the crew work around them.

Her eyes started to flutter around the ship as she followed her party to the hatch, taking careful measures to pick up her ruffles while still grasping her bag as she descended down the ladder behind the merry old sailor. Obdiently she followed to the door, and stepped inside the room when ushered inside. Now she held the maple handles of her purse with both hands and bit her lip while looking about. It was a nice room. Probably the best room she was ever invited to stay in. The blonde woman even, who may have been but a few years younger than she, was like a child in ecstacy as she so enthusiastically claimed a bed for her own. Her partner remained practical, meanwhile. Yet, just as she was about to turn to Veridus to inquire about the possibility of privacy, he was gone. So it looked like this would in fact be her home for the next few months afterall....

Hearing the bells, Zeiser turned away from his handiwork and headed for the best view of the ship, up by the wheel. When he arrived, he found the Patroness already at the helm and surveying the works. Zeiser stepped up to the railing and looked over them all. "So, this is my crew." He sighed contently and looked to Rhiannon. "Quite diligent in their work," he commented. "I don't expect there will be very many conflicts."

He turned his gaze away again and looked down at them all. Zeiser was confident that these would be hard-working and loyal men, so long as he took the right steps. His hand moved to the hilt of his rapier with that thought. He didn't take kindly to mutiny or arguing crewmen. Not at all. Zeiser was one for making examples of both good and bad workers.

"Hello, Miss." Chrono said, gretting Siduri with a small smile. "It seems we'll all be getting to know each other a bit over the next few months, yes?"

The young lad bowed to her, displacing the proper manners that seemed to come naturally. It'd be a flat out lie to even think Rosette had taught him manners. Speaking of Rosette, the blonde girl with avidly rummaging through her bag for something, tossing random bits of clothing and books off her bed and to the floor.

"I can't find it!"

Rhiannon only glanced at the Captain as he came up beside her, looking out as she was over the marvelous ship. The sails had been hoisted up, opened to catch the wind. A man, one of the senior officers of some sort, had taken the wheel and perpared to move the ship out of the harbor.

"Yes, this crew is the best there is. My father chose them all, based on their sailing history and skills. Only the best sail The Seraphim." she mused, suddenly proud to be a part of such a grand venture.

She met the Captain's eyes as he looked at her, and she gave a twing of a smile. "Conflict will be taken care of, Captain Zeiser. Regardless, you are a very fortunate man to earn such a title on this ship." She looked away again, watching the crowd grow on the deck. The ship began to turn, and someone was sounding a trumpet to bless their departure.

"Are you prepared to address the crew, Captain? All those onboard have been called to assemble, as you see. I think it would do them some good to hear you talk of the voyage... once we're out of the harbor atleast."

((Heh, I didn't ask beforehand if you wanted to give a speech, Trimley... you don't have to, but if you do, just talk about where they're going and their mission and all that... =p))
