Draycore Xairip Draycore wow... just... wow... cult anyone? or is that the sunday law im smelling... Eh, I don't think it's a cult. I just think it's the Saved Christian thing (I am a Saved Christian, by the way) taken the wrong way. o3o; Okay... so it starts with a woman telling the kids that they can make a difference... then theres a woman in there 'preaching' about how other religions are wrong by sending their kids to places other than christian camp... and theres some clips about how the children are 'saved' and born again, when it looks like they werent even born for the first time too long ago... and how they believe that they're (or we're, broad term, take it how you like) a key generation in Jesus' second coming... then theres talk about giving up your life for Jesus... and then there's talk about being trained to be in 'Gods' army... then theres children who seem to be entranced, almost brainwashed with the concept, as they make chants, and close their eyes, and make these peculiar motions... one of the chants being about righteous justice... and then they point out that theres a new church just like it every 2 days in America, and procede to point out that 'if the evangelicals vote, they determine the election' and that they can take over the government as we know it... then they procede to talk about how this is 'just the tip of the iceberg' and then theres more chanting and entrancing and a woman screaming 'this is war'... and to finish it off nicely, they end with "are you a part of it or not?"... You're right... this is worse than a cult... this is like the Nazi's or the muslim extremists... None of that has anything to do with a cult. Those are all legitimate creeds of a saved Christian, albeit taken a tad too literally. It isn't anything like Nazi's. That's a bit offensive that you put them in the same category, actually. And I doubt that they're going to go around blowing themselves up. Also, it isn't brain washing. EDIT: Oh, and believing in this stuff (while not taking it exactly the way that they are) does not make you a fanatic. That's an insult to people who legitamtely believe this stuff, and yet don't turn into these kind of people. The kind of people in the video are fanatics. But not other people, like myself, who believe in this stuff, and yet not act in the manner they do.

Se habla Engles? If we go by those definitions, most religions would be called cults, which would probably offend a lot of people. o3o; When I think of a cult, and I think when most people think of a cult, it's something that has nothing to do with any 'normal' religion. Like (and these probably aren't the BEST examples) the cult in Bubble Boy, or the cult in that one episode of Family Guy. I may be wrong, though. *shrug*

Yes, I've probably offended quite a few people with that statement. They'll live. Close. All Religions are Cults. Wether someone is offended by this fact or not is beside teh point, because a Rose by any other name, is still a Rose. Put pretty little words or anything else, but I prefer to face the truth in its full glory, without the euphemisms. And wether people are going to get mad at you for stating it is inconsequential. They made teh decision to react negatively to a statement, regardless of truth or not, and as such, it's their own fault for not controling their own temper, not yours.

I guess I just usually put 'cult' in the 'not good' category of things. See, for me, religion isn't a bad thing. *shrug* And I know, but I tend to tick off a lot of people when I speak my mind, so I'm trying to tone it down. ^^; I'm actually surprised that I didn't get my head bitten off in this thread. xD;

Superior Jazz But I have a question for anyone who cares to answer it... what is the distinction between a religion and a cult? I'm sure the line is somewhere around fifty thousand rounds of ammunition... I would imagine most OCcultists as far more imaginative than that. Give me a Ten-penny nail-gun, an $80 air compressor, and about $300 worth of Nails, and I can keep you off my Lawn for 3 hours.

They're teh poison Punch drinking baby sacrificing weirdos. and teh Nail Gun is "Borrowed" from a presonal favorite comedian, and his skit about Gun laws.

Se Ga Takai SaintChaos not being able to say merry christmas to customers? what kind of CRAP IS THAT?!! Well then, how would you feel if from now on, you never heard "Merry Christmas", but instead, "Enjoy the Pagan Festivities" or "Happy Hanukah"? Minor thing as it is, or as you may see it, there are other religions out there, and have every right to be respected. And unless we require the clerks to inform the Customer of every holiday which happens to take place in December(including Winter-een-Mas, I insist), I think "Happy Holidays" will do just fine. @Superior Jazz: I don't know if it was just my computer or a codec or a bad mux in the sound coding, but I had to put my audio system full blast just to hear teh people, and couldn't understand half of what they said. So apparently there were things you heard that I didn't, but it seemed just like any other Evangelical camp full of some of the same fruity far-too open minded attendants. oh as if i care if people say happy "such and such" to me. i honestly do not give a crap. why shoudl it matter? and that goes back to what i was saying. if an emoployee wants to say "happy such and such" to someone i dont see why people have to complain about that. at least the employee is nice enought o even GREET the customer, regardless of the words they use to give a friendly hello. whether its Allo or Konnichiwa, saying merry christmas it so different. it pisses me off to NO END

@Eponine: you can do a search on imdb.com for it...but it is still REALLY quiet.
as to the "cult" thing...there is a difference between definition and connotation.
out culture avoids the word 'cult' because it has negative connotations..everyone thinks of a big group of "wierdos".
yet notice the word culture itself....cultture.
yeah. Conotation of the word is bad...the definition isn't necessarily so.
