Syeira found the energy in this labor to slowly look up - her eyes spotting the red blurb through her narrowed eyes. Slowly she opened them, expecting to see a grumpy Uumi, but instead she saw the gazelle he had managed to bring to them.
"Oh Uumi," she breathed out weakly, letting her head drop back down to the grass with shut eyes, "that must have taken so much out of you, I'm proud of you." It sounded a little like she was rewarding her own son - but she knew the effort it was for Uumi to hunt.
She took a deep breath, tail curled around her back leg as another wave came over her.
Taabu came lazing about, slowly taking a gentle stride towards his parents. He was here to tell them that Nyunya had come to stay in the lands - at least for a little while - when he saw them both outside his den. His mother, Gods bless her, was laying down and looked.. a bit odd.
"Mum, you ok?", he asked quietly as he neared, leaning over to nuzzle at the back of her neck. He knew, almost instantly, what was wrong however. He didn't need to see birth before he recognize it.

His eyes went wide and he dropped the prey right from his mouth, his stomach twisting into a knot. "You're not... not now.." He said weakly, his gaze moving toward Taabu as he came out. Could he... maybe go away then? Since Taabu was there?
"Sye?" He moved forward as well, head swinging frantically around. Where was anyone besides him to help!

It was a deep breath that finally found Sye's tortured lungs, her eyes reopening as she found the two most important males in her life nearing her side. She smiled first at Taabu, nodding slowly, "I'm as well as can be expected."
Though, she instantly turned to look back at Uumi, "Don't get any ideas. You have to be here, I need the both of you since my mother isn't around this time. One of you need to stand watch, and the other just needs to stay here - I don't want to do this alone." She sighed, shutting her eyes as the contractiosn came again, getting closer now, "I don't care which of you does what."
Taabu stood slowly, tail flickering as he glanced to his father with those brilliant red eyes - staring into the mirrors of themselves. "It might be better for me to watch and you to sit with mom. Unless you'd rather watch.." He stood, waiting for his dad to tell him something.
Even if he was almost grown, he still listened to his parents.

((Ok, for our lovely cub owners, here's the order the cubs will be born.
Red Girl (Adaonri) Tan Twin Girl (Kimaria) Tan Twin Boy (n0cturne) Black Girl (Green Eyes) Red Twin Boy (Leth) Red Twin Girl (Kasai)
Ok? You may post as soon as all the cubs are born, just to keep everyone from being confused.))

Dammit, why did Taabu have to suggest he watch? That was like... putting a lock on it. Uumi would have to sit by Sye's side now... If he saw one of those suckers being born he might just retch. He cringed just slightly and began to look a little sick. "Yes, that seems like a perfectly good sollution." He said, his voice a little faint as he turned away from his almost grown son, sitting himself near Sye's head. He didn't know what to do beyond that.

Taabu just snorted at his father's reaction - instantly knowing that he had done something to upset him. True, he probably didn't want to sit there and watch the babies be born - but wouldn't mother appreciate it a lot more if Uumi was the one there with her? Besides, if something was coming - it's not like his dad could have done anything.
So, with a nod, he slipped off a distance away - within range to hear if need be, and sat with his attention on his surroundings.
With a little sigh, Syeira uncurled herself - her head resting against the paws of her lover for pure support. It was only times like these that she ever figured she needed anyone at all - it was only times like these when she was scared of being alone.
With the passing minutes, strong contractions coursed through her tiring body, leaving the mother in pain and sleepiness. It was only a few more little moments before she had the first child out.

"Oh god," whispered our favorite cold lioness, cleaning the cub and pulling it's mewling self towards her tummy, "she's beautiful Uumi." Her eyes drifted up towards him, ignoring the next wave of contractions.
She would get no break in this.

He stared at Sye with wide eyes, not even realizing one was coming out, starting it's life. But when she said that his eyes jerked around her, landing on her stomach finally. On the little patch of crimson against her stomach. His expression seemed to soften very much. "Red." He whispered, looking back to Sye. He shifted a little and bent foward, sniffing slightly at it before he sat up again. "W-wonderul, Sye.." He said, awkwardly. What else was he supposed to do, say?

Syeira snorted at him, tail curled around her new little daughter. She didn't know how to take the stunned look on his face, but at least she could act normal in an attempt to console him. "Well what color were you expecting, Uumi? Purple?" She smiled, weakly, though another painful surge was swelling up over her.
Many long minutes of pushing and hard breathing, and a small pair of very alike little cubbins produced themselves - born within a matter of minutes of one another.

She took a deep breath, cleaning the pair and pulling them likewise to her, her body alrady beginning to lose its strength - though she knew she was far from over. "They look more like me, and that little boy.." she whispered, "is almost the spitting image of Taabu."
Her eyes were shining, full of love and joy, something she had not experienced since she was much younger - since Taabu was born, and though Uumi may not be so eager to be a father again, Syeira could feel her motherly instincts overwhelming her mind already.
And there were still more to go.

Ah, now that was more like it.. wait, two more? He had the sudden urge just to ask if that was all, or would there be more? "Well I was expecting more your color... like Taabu." He scoffed slightly, eyes flicking over the two. Twins. His heart gave a slight pang. Could he even consider himself a twin any longer? No, not at all.

Syeira took a deep breath, a smile (as much of a smile as you might dare to call it) stretched across her maw. "Well, there's two that look like Taabu and I now." She shut her eyes, feeling the little ones squirming against her stomach, eager for the milk her body had already produced. "I like the red, myself," she murmured, feeling her body beginning to convulse again.
Here came another.
It was a little harder now, now that her body was tired and weak, now that she had to use more energy on a weaker mass of muscles - but none the less, next came a beautiful little girl.

She smiled, weakly cleaning her fourth child of this litter, pulling her to the warmth of her sibilngs. She knew what Uumi was thinking, and her head slowly shook, "I think.. there are still a couple more, love."
She didn't mind - she had three new beautiful daughters, and a darling little son.

Uumi's face was looking more and more stricken. So many cubs! And a little girl, darker than even Ari! Darker than Denahi, for that matter. But a flash of bright red with her! "More?" He said, faintly.

Syeira just ignored him, more concentrating on the births she hoped would be last. Yes, she loved these new children - but too many could be a problem for this little disfunctional family.
It was a long while that she worked, her body weak and ready to give, but at last she pushed out another set of twins - much brighter than the first, sporting their father's likeness all over them - but with her mask.

She took a deep breath, cleaning off that final set, tears brimming in her beautifully blue eyes. She pulled them close to her, eyes weak with exhaustion, "more red."
She watched them all, squirming and fighting to feed, her body weak and tired - but her mind not letting her sleep, not with new younglings to look out for, "they're beautiful. All of them." And she, honestly, didn't care a lick what Uumi thought.
"I think.. that's all."

The warmth was gone, replaced by a shock of cold air as it curled into the tiny cub's lungs for the first time. He shivered, head heavy and eyes blind as he raised his short maw to mewl pathetically. The only thoughts that flickered through his small brain were warmth and food. Warmth came in an instantly familiar scent and a rough tongue along his back; food as he was moved gently against a giant wall of soft fur. His black nose burrowed into the fur, jaws opening to suckle zealously.
The warm white liquid spilled down his throat, dribbling somewhat out of his mouth. While it had been a hard process for his mother, the cub was exhausted from his seemingly endless and confusing journey down the birth canal. Mouth still attached loosely to his mother's warm belly, he mewled softly, settling into a drowsy slumber.

Uumi caught his breath at the last of the cubs. Red twins. His heart gave another pang, of guilt and hurt. Kiuma. He'd never be Kiuma's twin again... but their hearts had been pulled into different directions. He slowly laid himself down, curled careful so he would not crush any of the cubs, but also curled next to Sye. Six. He thought he just might die.
He leaned himself foward and slowly began to groom Sye's face in an overwhelming feeling of care and affection. "You did ... wonderful... they are.. beautiful." He whispered softly, hesitating now and then. Large family. He'd never wanted a large family... but he guessed it sort of came with the whole staying with Sye thing.
"Taabu." He called out slightly, crimson gaze flicking around.

During the entire birthing business there hadn't been an entire load of interesting things on her mind. However, the moment Jini dropped into the a world that was surprisingly and uncomfortably cold compared to the warmth and squishiness of her mother's womb, the cub let out a lone cry. She was desperate to reach any source of heat nearby warmth and scrambled, blindly towards the wonderful, warm fur that belonged to her mother, knocking her newborn brothers and sisters out of the way as she went. Whether it was intentional or not is uncertain for there were only two very simple things on Pepo's mind.
Food and shelter.
Soft mews of complaint at being thrust into such a nasty, cool place spewed from jaw and the cub was only silenced once she'd finally reached her mother's belly.
