 Roleplay: Jayoku Pales
Using: MSN Messenger
Where: Pales' House
Edited/Colored by: Pales
Additional Notes: Might note the presence of a girl named Xai. She was from a shop that closed/haitused and came back but with a different rule/set up as far as the RP goes. Let's just assume this Xai is a NPC of sorts that popped up on this one time occassion (and maybe more later) n_n;. ---
Jayoku placed the phone done and back onto the reciever as she then turned and clenched a hand in a fist ina determined happiness. "Yoosh." she said as she then took a brush to her hai rand smiled quickly into the mirror. "Chera!!!" She called.
Chera looked up from the coloring book she was doodling in. A gaint red crayon in her hands she was trying to color in a an image of an apple, but was failing miserably.
Pales hung up his phone at about the same time, "Xai, come help me clean." Toki was still hopping about upon the desk, near it's hatching place. Xai was watching Toki with amusement before Pales called upon her to help. Which she obediantly did. Pales took over watching Toki by allowing her a ride on his shoulder whilst he carefully picked up. He didn't want guests to see a messy home.
Chera flew down to the first floor and found her mother there. "Yes mama?" she asked as she floated over towards her mothers shoulder. Jayoku looked up at her little one and smiled. "You are going to meet a good friend o mine today. I heard he recently got a wethkin of his own." She continued as she slid her sock onto her foot. Chera bobbed up and down and smiled. "I better get ready!" she cried out and then rushed over to a trunk that held a bunch of doll clothes for her to wear.
Pales quietly swept the floors. Toki made noises none stop as if unable to believe it was it's own voice that was issuing out of it. Pales just chuckled a bit, happy that he didn't have to be so nervous anymore around the egg. "Chyuuu...Yyuuu..Yooo..." Toki murbled.
Chera picked a cute little blue dress to wear, she thought it complemented her pruple skin tone nicely. Taking a small doll comb she brushed her hair and then zoomed over to her mother. "I am ready mama!" she said hugging Jay's ear. Jay nodded and then picked up her keys. "Let us be off then." she said with a smile.
With their collective efforts, Xai and Pales had the place clean. Pales was in the kitchen in a white chef's apron and Toki still on his shoulder, he was careful not to drop her onto the counter where he was cutting up some things as well as mixing a few juices and teas. Xai laid out a pitcher of water on the dining room table. Everything was set neatly, which is how Pales enjoyed his enviroment.
It didn't take long for Jayoku to pull the car out of the driveway little Chera sitting on the dash board so that she could see out the window. This was her first time in the car. Jay esitmated it would probably only take a couple minutes to get to Pales house by car. Pumping a cd into the stereo loud music blasted from the speakers. Jay turned it down with a wince.
Pales set out snacks as well as a tiny place for the two small ones to enjoy a snack. He had a nice talk to Jayoku about after hatch-care for the most part. He had almost forgotten that she too had owned a Wethkin, though her's was further along in development. Pales looked at Toki from the corner of his eye, Toki was getting the hang of floating as well, "We all done then, Xai? Toki?" Xai simply nodded where Toki let out a rather exuberant, "T'yuu!" sound which sort of started him as he wasn't aware the small creature could get so loud.
Jayoku pulled up in front of the driveway and Chera managed to remove herself fromt eh window as the jolt formt he stop had managed to send her flying into teh glass. She rubbed her face it stung a bit. Jay lokoed at her little one sheepishly. "Gomen." she said before opening hte car door. Chera was quick to follow her mother out of the car and hovered on her shoulder while she walked up to the front door. Using a free hand Jay rang the door bell and waited.
"Oh! That's them. Xai, you know the drill. Your best behavior." Xai nodded, "I always am, I thought." She blinked a bit. Pales just chuckled and nodded, "Of course." He then went to answer the door. Wearing a big grin. Toki still on his shoulder, seeming to have no troubles with the free ride at all. Toki blinked, wow, how'd those people get on the other side of the big woody thing? Toki wasn't exactly sure what doors were just yet or their purpose.
Jayoku was staring at the plant by the side of the house when the door finally opened. She smiled and gave her friend a hug. "its been too long Pales-chan." she said and chera had had floated off her mothers shoulder while she let her hug Pales. Then it was her turn. Chera gavea little squeal and then rushed at Pales face clamping onto his cheek with her little hands. She kissed his skin, leaving a cold kiss there before she removed herself. "hii." she said giving the peace sign. Jay had introduced her little child to anime it seemed
Pales hugged Jayoku back and laughed at the child's kiss. Toki seemed confused at this exchange, "Chyuu?" Pales blinked amazed the puff had clung on so well, "Oh yes. Toki, this is my friend and her little one." He pointed at Jayoku while leading them in, "She is Jayoku." Toki blinked and murbled, "Ohhkuu.." Pales chuckled and nodded and pointed at the little sprite that kissed his cheek, "And that is Chera." He said so she understood, "'Errrrahhh." The puff murbled again. Pales nodded encouragingly, he then looked at Jayoku and Chera, "My little one is named Toki." he chuckled. "Seemed fitting.."
Jayoku made a sound that sounded like squeeee as she came a bit clsoer to look at Toki. "my god she is adorable." jayoku chimed as she smiled at little Toki.
Chera floated to Toki and giggeled. "Mama she is cute!" she said as she came closer to the little puff.
Toki took the attention in stride, even seeming to puff up some. Pales just chuckled, "Toki is a major blessing to my home. Come. Xai and I have worked hard to make this place neat. I even made us some snacks." Toki was busy staring at the small child that was approaching, "'Eeerrahh?"
"can i play with Toki?" Chera asked as she floated around Pales head keeping an eye on the little puff. Jayoku smiled and nodded her head. "Thank you for having us over." she said with a laugh. "i always forget how beautiful you house is."
Pales nodded to Chera, "Of course. I am afraid I do not have many toys yet. Where would you two like to play?" Toki was obviously peering at the desk. Used to that place most of all. Pales looked to Chera questioningly having caught Toki's stare easily enough. "Desk okay?" Toki blinked, is that what they called that big flat thing that stuck up from the floor? "Dezzzzkeh.." Toki murbled.
Pales smiled at Jayoku and kind of blushed, "I am happy you like my house. I work hard to keep it nice." He nodded as he replied to Jayoku.
Chera nodded her head and then floated towards the desk. "Sounds good to me!" she said as she waved little Toki over to herself.
Jayoku nodded her head and looked about. "where is Xai anyway?" she asked as she moved over to a couch tosit down on.
He glanced at Toki, "You can do it. Give it a try." He encouraged the puff. The puff looked doubtful, "Chyuu." Toki pouted, "Come now." Pales chided slightly, "You can too do it. Look at Chera. She isn't afraid." That seemed to put some fire in her soul as she first inched forward then floated off, discovering she was still in the air. With that she happily glided over to Chera.
Pales nodded content that Toki is in good hands. He turned to Jay, "She is in the kitchen, want the food brought out here instead, or not hungry enough? Thirsty at all?" Pales was always a good host.
Jayoku laughed and then looked up at him. "A drink would be great. I am thirsty."
Chera let the little puff float towards her before she moved over and petted her on thehead. "yourso soft!" she commented as she stroked the little puffs head. she couldn't remember being this soft. But of course Chera's touch was cool like a freeze breeze of morning air.
Toki blinked and shivered involuntarily, but didn't complain, she was more curious, "Chyuuu?"
"What'll you like? I'll let Xai come out to entertain you while I ready everything." Pales smiled graciously. He had forgotten he still wore his apron.
"Surprise me!" Jayooku giggeled as she made herself comfertable.
Chera smiled and then poked the little bobble above Toki's head. "your so cute. but hey do you want to see something i can do?" she asked her voice excited as she remember the new puff probably couldn't use much of her powers yet.
"Chyuu!" Toki replied, which was as good as a yes.
Pales bowed and nodded, "Always one for an adventure I see." He chuckled and wandered off to the kitchen. Soon Xai wandered out, still somewhat shy around Jayoku and company in general, "Hello, Miss Jayoku. Father'll be a few moments." She said softly as she went to go sit in a cushioned chair, all proper like.
Jayoku looked at the little girl creature, this was probably the first time she had met Xai, she certainly was a cute little thing. "hello Xai." she said ina quiet voice os not to startle her.
Chera clapped her hands together in excitement. She then did a fancy tirwl, she had seen some girls on tv do this kinda of thing , she thought it was neat. PLacing her hands together she then concentrated and then blew a little kiss in Toki's direction, from the palm of her hands little cyrstals gather adn then grew into a gain snow flake, probably around the same size as Toki.
Xai nodded, "Greetings, you are Jayoku, right?" She smiled somewhat unsure of what to say just yet. She was getting used to meeting new people though, otherwise she'd just sit there like a statue.
The snow flake then dropped onto the table top and melted on the spot. Chera smiled and giggeled. Moving over she pet Toki and then floated away for a bit. "Do you want to play a game?" she inquired.
Jayoku smiled softly and then shifted i her seat. "You are very pretty." she complimented Xai, it was true the little child was adorable.
Toki chirped, which was as good as a yes, as the puff bounced a bit. Toki seemed to favor the ground.
"Th..Thank you." She blushed, but she wore a smile as well. She took compliments fairly well. At that point Pales appeared with the drinks. A glass of water for Xai, small dollhouse sized cups of juice for the puff and child that he set with them carefully.
A glass of some exotic berry juice for Jay and a cup of hot tea for himself. "Surprise?" Pales said as he offered Jay the glass.
Jay took th eglass with a laugh and nodded her head. "Why yes. yes i am." she took a sip and then licked her lips. "wow this is great. what is it?"
Chera took her cup and had a sip with a refreshing ahhh sound. she then turned to Toki. "Do you know how to play tag?"
Pales shrugged, "Some berry I found the other day. I made sure it wasn't poisonous or anything." He nodded, "It was at this weird vendor some blocks away." Xai sipped at her water contently.
Toki pretty much took to lapping up the juice from the cup that was given. Toki blinked and looked confused, "Taahhg? What is?" The puff asked.

 Roleplay: Chalda Jayoku Pales
Using: MSN Messenger
Where: Chalda's Tree
Edited/Colored by Chalda (Colored Text) + Pales (Edited for his own journal)
Jayoku tugged on Pales arm literally dragging him along through the forest at about a trotting speed. Chera was watching Toki to make sure the little puff didn't fall from the sky. "Now you have to be patient with her. . " she explained to Pales about the little girl whom she expected had issues with adults. "She has problems trusting adults, and considers us them. So just try and be...relaxed?" she said as she nodded her head and blew a piece of hair out of her eyes. "Mama!" Chera called from ahead of them. "Do you think her eggu hatched yet?" Jay shook her head. "No idea hun."
Pales sort of stumbled after blinking a bit, "Y...Yes ma'am. Will try my best." He was a little shocked when Jayoku appeared at his door step and pretty much told him they were going somewhere. He had Lieneke and Xai watched by a friend who he hoped wouldn't teach them anything bad. Toki just seemed unaware of what was going on other than being told to come along by Chera.
Chalda sat in her tree as usual just wasting time until her parents had gone to sleep. She was telling her egg a story about a prince and a princess that she had heard from her mom. The beautiful princess got locked away in a tower but the noble prince went to rescue her and they fell in love. She sighed as she thought about the story. No chance any noble prince would ever come to rescue her even when she grew up. She wasn't pretty or anything so it just wasn't going to happen.
Jay stopped suddenly and then looked to Pales. "You got all that?" She asked placed her hands on her hips and waited for Pales to respond. They were really close now, she knew it by the fact she could see pink blossoms spotting the ground here and there. Chera had swooped and picked up some blossoms and let them drift over Toki's head as she giggled.
Pales blinked staring at Jay a little wide eyed but nodded, "Got it. Promise. I won't do anything to upset her? Try not to anyhow? You know I don't meaningly make anyone upset?" Pales was getting nervous about just how to act, though he was trying not to show that. He took a deep breath and wore his best smile. Toki chyuued and let out a giggling sound of her own as the petals drifted about "Preeteee..." Toki chirped.
"Preeteee..." Chalda heard as she sat in her tree dreaming of the prince she was sure would never come. Intrigued by the noise she peeked out of her tree trying to find out where it came from. Didn't sound like your average bird.
Jayoku nodded her head and smiled. Placing a hand on Pales shoulder and squeezed it in a comforting way. "Just be yourself. I know you won't do anything to upset her on purpose." she said with a wave of her finger. She then winked and moved towards the tree. "Hello!" she called out as she waved towards the tree. Chera zoomed ahead and squeaked her own hello as well.
Well not one to be left alone, Toki tried to zoom along but it ended up being more of a putter. Staying just behind Chera by a good few inches. Pales nodded, keeping his smile, "Right." He stayed slightly behind Jayoku and just waited to be introduced. Should he treat her as an adult or treat her as a child...Probably more of an adult or would that be misread?
Seeing Chera fly towards her Chalda got read to surprise her. As she got close Chalda pounced. "Boo!" She yelled as she jumped out from behind the tree and showered Chera with petals. But to her surprise there was another little creature behind Chera. It looked less human though and more of a puff. What was it?
Chera let out a diminutive screech as she was covered in petals, as she was able to see again shook the petals out of her hair. "Heeeey!" she said as she tossed the very last petal to the ground. Jay smiled and waved to Chalda. "Hello again."
At first Toki almost ran away after Chalada pounced out, all wide eyed with fear. Though when the puff turned and saw Pales Toki kind of relaxed and seemed to become brave and turned to float toward Chalada and Chera, "Chyuusa?"
Jay looked to her watch and cried out in shock. "Drat! I forgot something in the car! I'll be right back!" she said as she turned and hurriedly rushed back through the forest. Chera seeing her mother fleeing the scene zoomed after her as well.
Chalda watched Jayoku run off and looked and the man she was left with. He was very attractive but now that she was alone with him she was pretty uncomfortable. She looked at the puff flying around him. "Is it yours?" She asked shyly.
Pales kind of nodded as he approached a bit though not too close so as to make her uncomfortable, "Hai. My name is Pales, and uhh..The puff is Toki." He kept his friendly smile and tried to stay relaxed. He was being himself, right?
"Hi I'm Chalda." She said a bit nicer. "Toki is very cute! What kind of wethkin is it?"
He nodded cautiously, "Nice to meet you Chalada. Toki is a Falling Petals wethkin?"
"Really?" She looked excited. "Did you find Toki in a tree like this one?" She gestured towards the large cherry tree.
He took a good look at the tree and then nodded, "Hai. I was listening to an old coot lecture me? Then I looked up and saw something sparkle and shine...Well?It attracted me and I had to see what it was...I uhh?Like sparkly and shiny things." He said with a small chuckle. Toki chirped, "Spahhklee.."
"Eek that's cute!" She poked her finger towards Toki. "Then I think that my Wethkin might be a Falling Petals too. I saw her egg glowing at night and it was all the way up at the very top of the tree. Would you like to see it? I found a little bag the other bag with some very sparkly dust in it and when I put it on the egg it started to sparkle even more. The bag disappeared though. I don't know what happened to it.
He seemed more relaxed and nodded, "I'd love to see it." He replied. He was expecting her to kick his shin or something.
Chalda ducked into the tree and gently picked up her egg in the flower petal nest she had created for it. After sweeping up some of the spilled sparkles she took it back out and showed it to the man.
He looked at it and smiled, "That is how Toki looked before Toki hatched." Pales commented. Toki peered at it too, "Chyuu?" Pales nodded a bit at Toki, "Yep. Only you were more of a pink color." Toki blinked "Peeenk..." She murbled.
"Wow really? So this will hatch into one like that?" She looked up at him with wide eyes. There was something really special about him. He was older of course but she was sure he wasn't too old for her... Her eyes began to sparkle as she stared up at him.
He seemed almost oblivious to the way she looked at him, that or he was totally innocent of that sort of thing, "Yep. I'm sure your little one'll be pretty too." He said cheerfully.
"I certainly hope so" She responded never taking her eyes off his face. And then as if pulled back into reality she stepped back. "I wanted to ask Jayoku but she ran off so fast. I don't need anything special to care for it do I? Special food? Something to help it hatch? I mean before Jayoku showed up I had no idea even what this was. Now I have to care of it and I have no idea how to do a good job. Maybe I should just give it to you now so that I don't mess up it's life." Her eyes started to fill with tears.
He shook his head, "No no. Keep it. You won't mess it up. Just keep the egg in a cool-warm place?Which outside it's been spring weather so your egg should be fine? When it hatches it eats pretty much normally?Mine prefers sugary things...They all seem to have their own preference."
"Oh" She said softly as she tried to stop her tears. "Well ok then. So yours will change into one like Jayoku's when it gets older? Is that how it works?"
"I think so." He nodded a bit, and smiled at her. "No worries, right? I am sure you'll be a wonderful guardian and teach it well." He was attempting to instill her with confidence.
"I hope so. My mom was really great but she isn't around anymore. I hope I can be a mom just like her to this little one." She said with a bit more of a smile on her face. She couldn't help but smile when he looked at her and smiled too. She pinched at bit of the sparkles that had collected around the base of her egg and sprinkled them over Toki.
Toki shimmered a bit and gave a giggle, "Chyuu. Spahkleee!" Pales gave a chuckle, "Very pretty." He grinned boyishly. "See? It doesn't take a whole lot to keep a little one happy."
Chalda made a small sigh as she saw him laugh and grin. Maybe this was her prince charming; he had come to rescue her from her terrible life! Finally her fairy tale was about to come true. She just stood and stared up at him. Despite the fact that she hadn't known him for very long any friend of Jayoku's must be a nice person. Suddenly a stray thought crossed her mind that made her insides twist a little. What if he and Jayoku were together? She was closer to his age and much prettier then her so obviously that would be what was going on. "Umm... you and Jayoku aren't... umm... well... umm... are you?" She said nervously.
He sort of blinked at. "Aren't what?" He pondered a moment. Toki blinked a bit. "Yo...You mean dating? N...No...We are just friends." he went deep red at that.
"Good!" She blurted out quickly and then turned red at her forwardness. "I mean Oh..." She looked back up at him again. He was so wonderful and he wasn't with Jayoku! This was probably the best day of her life... She continued to stare and almost dropped her egg while she did.
He was still blushing and he looked toward her egg, "Careful Chalada." He said nodding his head to the egg.
"Oops! How could I be so careless?" She ducked back into her tree and set the little egg safely on the shelf. "So tell me everything about Toki." She said staring up at him again. His voice was so musical. Every word was a symphony to her ears.
Toki perched upon his head and peered down at Chalada. Pales chuckled a bit, "Well what I learned about Toki so far is that Toki likes pretty things and loves to learn new things...Toki loves to explore and is very curious." He felt the puff perch upon his head and he didn't seem to mind, "Toki is kind of afraid of spiders and most other bugs though."
"Really? That's great. I'm a bit afraid of bugs too. What was it like when you found Toki? Or when Toki hatched?"
He thought about it, "When I found Toki it was like...I felt this love for the egg when I laid eyes on it...Like when a father sees his baby for the first time..."
Wow, she thought, He's sensitive to! She sighed "Please continue..."
"It was kinda like love at first sight...I have two adopted daughters back home too? Xai and Lieneke." He smiled when mentioning his children, "They both love Toki and help me with the care."
"Really? You have daughters?" Well this was something she didn't expect to here. At least they weren't really his children though. Just adopted. "Tell me more about them?" She questioned.
"Well Xai is a shy girl. Blue hair, aquatic-fin looking ears? She is very self conscious about them...Lieneke is very bright and outgoing. Cheerful all the time. Always finds joy and happiness in little things, I guess you could say she's vibrant."
"They sound really nice. How old are they?"
Pales thought a moment, "Xai is about 6 or 7 by the looks of it and Lee is about 8 or 9. They age different than humans do." He explained before he got questioned about the age. "They are both beautiful girls. Very smart too...Xai is learning how to read."
"Oh..." She said in a slightly mystified way. "Differently then humans? They aren't human?"
He shook his head, "Xai is a Xi-wang, came from a different world all together. Lee is a joy incarnate...Kuatalmot. He shrugged a bit, "I love them no matter what though."
A slightly stunned look formed on her face. "I didn't even know there were other worlds. I didn't even know there really was magic until I found this little Wethkin egg." Her head was spinning from this new information. "Didn't Jayoku say she forgot something in the car?" She blurted out "She's been gone and awful long time..."
He shrugged, "I am sure she'll be back soon." He nodded a bit.
"Yeah you are probably right." She started to dig her toe into the ground and tried to think of something else to ask.
Toki quietly bounced a bit on his head. Pales looked thoughtful, "What do you do for fun?"
Chalda thought quietly for a moment. "Well usually I just play here in my tree. Some times for a few days. There isn't really much else to do here."
There was a crashing sound and a few swear words that could be heard as Jayoku stumbled her way back towards the Cherry tree. She was holding a picnic basket in her arms and Chera was sitting on top of the basket holding on for dear life.
"Hi Jayoku!" Chalda fidgeted and looked a bit uncomfortable.
Jay waved with one hand as she scurried back over lugging the giant basket in her hands. "I forgot about the snacks." she said with a laugh and Chera clapped her hands together. "Cookies! Lots of cookies!" she exclaimed gleefully.
Pales blinked, though Toki seemed excited, "Cooookees!" Pales chuckled a bit, "Need help Jayoku?" He offered after her.
"That's ok Pales! I don't mind doing it!" Chalda snatched the basket away.
"No no. I am fine." she said with smile though the basket was taken from her Chera tipped over and fell out of the basket. "Eep!" she squeaked as she floated up quickly to avoid being crushed by feet. "Haha well then I have a helper." Jay said as she moved to sit beside Pales. "Why don't you serve the snacks?" she inquired Chalda.
"Sure!" Chalda was eager to please and prove how adult she was. She opened up the basket and tried to serve everything as eloquently as she could.
Pales smiles a bit and glanced at Jayoku, by proxy Toki looked at Jayoku as well, "She's a very nice hostess." He commented.
Chera took a cookie that was sitting on the top and hurried over to Toki. Perhaps the little wethkin would like cookies like she did. "Here." she said as she broke off a piece of chocolate chip cookie and offered it to Toki. "Try some it is really good." Jayoku shook her head. "You certainly have a sweet tooth. . ." she said with an almost exasperated sigh. "Well Chalda why don't you hand out the cupcakes while I serve the hot chocolate?"
"Alright!" Chalda jumped up and managed to knock over the thermos of hot chocolate as she did. "Oh my!! I'm so sorry!!" She ran into the tree and got a towel to clean things up. "I can't believe I did that. I've ruined the whole thing!" She babbled as her eyes began to fill with tears again.
Jayoku went to help Chalda and patted her on the back. "Accidents happen. It isn't the end of the world. Good things I packed some juice to drink as well." she said with a smile and went to fetch the juice.
Chalda sobbed quietly as she mopped up as much of the hot chocolate as she could. "I'm sorry Jayoku!" She said and looked at her again. "Would you like me to leave you too alone?"
Jayoku stopped pouring the juice and looked at Chalda strangely. "Why would we want to be alone? I brought Pales here to meet you silly." She said with a soft giggle as she watched Chera munch on her cookie like a little piggly.
"Oh right." Chalda said quietly as she stood and took the towel over to the base of the tree. She had once again proved how young and foolish she was. At this rate she would never get Pales to notice that she was really a woman. She decided to get her egg out again to show off her motherly skills. She walked back to the blanket and tried to entice Toki over to her with another bit of cookie.
Pales blinked and watched the commotion for some reason his mind was momentarily elsewhere. No matter. Toki chirped and ate part of the cookie Chera gave and then peered at the other being enticingly offered. Not one to turn a cookie down after the first taste Toki floated over, "Chryuu?"
Chalda smiled "Do you know 'please'?"
Toki blinked faintly, "Puhh-leese?"
"Aww! Alright little one!" Chalda handed over the piece of cookie. "So cute!"
Chera was munching on a cookie and watched Toki with a careful eye. She turned her head when she heard her mother speak. "Chere hun could you cool the juice down for me? it got too warm." Chera felt proud as she floated over to the glass and clapped her hands together and closed her eyes. There was a splat and Jay found snow balls had landed in the lemonade. She giggled softly. "Okay then who wants a lemonade slushie?"
Toki nabbed the piece gently and was pretty much nibbling on it much like a squirrel or hamster, "Cooohhkeeeees!" Pales gave a chuckle, "It seems I have a cookie lover on my hands." Toki blinked, "Luuuffferrr..." Pales nodded to Jayoku, "Slushie is fine." He gave a small laugh, "It seems quite ideal really."
"Yeah Jayoku. Slushie is just perfect for me too! So if Chera can do that can Toki do anything special or magical?" She directed the question at both of them.
Chera was slurping up some lemon ice on the corner of her mother's cup and she looked up. Wiping off her mouth she smiled. "Sure! I am not sure but I know that other weather wethkin have powers!" Jay shushed her little child as she wanted Pales to answer.
He blinked and shrugged a bit, "Toki is a couple of days old, and hasn't done anything just yet that I know of. Though that doesn't make Toki any less special." Toki blinked, "Pow...erz?"
"Ahh ok. I was just curious. I wonder if my little egg is going to do anything special. Of course she is special all by herself." Chalda looked at Toki and imagined her little one looking like that.
Chera puffed up a big and crossed her arms over he chest. "Well Chera wasn't able to do very much at first, but she learned slowly about her powers." she said with a bit of a laugh remembering the flooded bathroom a couple months before. "I am sure that your wethkin will have special powers too."
Pales nodded, "I am sure Toki'll do something wonderful..." Toki sort of bobbed in the air as if about to fall. Toki quickly floated onto Chalada's shoulder as Chalada was closer. "Phewww..." Toki chirped softly.
"Aww you are so cute little one!" Chalda rubbed the top of her head and gave her another chip of cookie. "How old is she now?"
Toki ate upon the chip once offered and sort of chirped at random, Pales took a moment, "2-3 days about. I called Jayoku as soon as it happened."
Jay nodded her head remembering the day. "She is adorable. So light and fluffy. She reminds me of Chera when she was a puff. Of course Chera wasn't warm as these two are." she said with a bit of a laugh. Chera squinted her face and stuck out her tongue. "I can't help it...' she retorted and then landed on Jay's head and snuggled into her hair.
Chalda let out a small laugh seeing Chera react that way. "You're a cuttie too Chera. I can't wait until I can really talk to my Mai and have her as a friend. I look forward to having some company."
Jay nodded her head and reached a hand up to stroke the side of Chera's cool face. She felt little arms wrap around her finger in a hug. She could only smile more. "How long have you had the egg?"
"It's been 8 days now. I never know if I should expect it to hatch or not because I don't know how long they are supposed to stay in there."
He shrugs, "It varies for a lot of the eggs." He nodded slightly.
Jay giggled some as her fingers started to feel chilled. "You just have to be careful with taking care of them. I can't take Chera out in the sun took long or she over heats." Chera nodded her head, her purple hair bouncing along the sides of her face. "I don't like the sun very much."
"Alright Jayoku. I will remember that. Thank you!" Chalda hugged her egg gently. "I'm glad you guys came to day. It's been pretty lonely here without anyone to talk to."
Pales smiled a bit, "It was an honor to meet you." Toki blinked a bit and tried to mimic her guardian, "On-ur to meeeet you."
Jay smiled and nodded her head, "well I did give you my card. You are more than welcome to call anytime if you ware lonely." She took a sip of her slushies and then offered more to her little child. Chera sucked on some ice thankful. It was already getting too warm for her.
Chalda smiled. "I know but then I would have to use the phone at home and that's kind of hard to do..."
"I also have my address there if you ever wanted to come visit." With a yawn Jayoku covered her mouth, Chera slid into the glass blissfully snuggling against the cold. Jayoku was startled to find her wethkin there. "You ok?" Chera looked up and nodded her head.
Toki got up to float over and peer at Chera, "Ohh..Kay 'Erra..?" Pales blinked over at Chera, but glanced at Chalda, "If you want my address you may also come over at any time."
"Thank you guys but I probably wouldn't have any way to get there. I really do appreciate it though." Chalda turned her head away from them a bit to hide her embarrassment.
He smiled a bit, "None sense. I always love company. You can ask Jayoku." He said cheerfully, glancing concernedly at Chera.
Jay laughed and nodded her head. "Well if you have no way to get here then we will just have to come visit you more often." she said with a nod as she tickled Chera's hair with the tip of her finger.
"That sounds great! I hope my little egg hatches soon so that Chera and Toki can meet my little puff." She reached over and dropped a flower petal on Chera's head.
Taking the petal she then suck on the edge of it while Jay's glass seemed to be freezing solid slowly. Jay put the glass down because it was too cold for her to hold anymore. "We would definitely like to meet him or her." she said with a nod.
He nods, "That would definitely be lots of fun to come back." He smiled happily. Toki chirped a bit, "Com back?" Pales nodded at Toki, "Come back." Toki let out a happy chirp, "Toki liiiiks 'alda."
Chalda let out an "Aww!" And scooped up Toki and snuggled her to her face. "And Chalda like Toki very very much."
Jayoku yawned, lately it seemed trying to find a job was wearing her out. "Dear lord I need a nap." she said as she tried to suppress a yawn again.
Pales chuckled softly, "Any luck yet, Jayoku?" Toki nuzzled against Chalda at the hug, "'Alada Frieeeeend... 'Era..Frieeend... Everyone frieennnd." Pales smiled a bit hearing Toki.
"You really are adorable Toki. And if you like Jayoku you could take a nap in the tree. I've got a bed in there that is pretty comfy." Chalda was glad that she finally had something to offer.
Jay waved a hand at Chalda. "If I go to sleep now I won't be sleeping tonight." she said with a bit of a laugh and then she shook her head at Pales. "I may get a web designing job. But I am waiting for them to confirm first." She said with a bit of a sigh. Chera took a piece of slush and then sucked on it.
Pales nodded, "Good luck with that then Jayoku." Toki chirped, "Guud Lucks."
Jayoku laughed. "Yah well I certainly hope it works out. I will get to work from home if it does." she tilted her head as she watched Chera take a piece of slush and seem to be aiming towards Chalda. Putting a hand in front of her Chera made a sound like pfft and then settled back down in the glass.
Chalda giggled. "Well I wouldn't mind. It's getting pretty hot out here. Wanna hit me with a snowball little one?"
Chera seemed to light up and looked to her mother for confirmation that she was indeed allowed to do this. Jay shrugged. "She gave you permission." She said with a sigh. Chera clapped her hands together gleefully and then floated out of her half frozen slush cup. Moving closer to Chalda she then focused and a medium sized snow ball seemed to appear above Chalda's head. it then plopped down.
Chalda laughed out loud as the slush dripped down her hair and down the back of her neck. She scooped up one of the larger chucks and flicked it back at Chera. "Take that little imp!"
Chera meeped and dodged she then created another snow ball. A bit bigger than before. Plop. The sound was wet and caused jay to shiver. Chera laughed as she blew a kiss as the young girl.
"You really are a little scamp aren't you?" Chalda exclaimed as the second snowball dropped on her. "Ooo that is cold on the spine!"
Toki floated and perched on Pales' shoulder. Pales sort of watched with a small blink, but remained quiet.
Chalda scooped up a large chunk of slush and flipped it towards Pales. She made sure to avoid Toki. She didn't want to hurt her after all.
He got pelted on the forehead. He gave a small dazed blink, then looked at Toki, "She got me?" He mock-whimpered. "It's too late for me?save...yourself..." Toki's eyes got wide, "Chya?!" Pales chuckled and wiped it off, flicking some toward Chalda and Jay, "No worries Toki. I am fine."
Jayoku stuck out her tongue as the slush hit her. "Dear me, now look what you've done Chera. You've made a slush fight!" Jayoku took a scoopful of slushed snow and threw a handful at Pales and Chalda. Chera was having a blast creating one snow ball after another.
Chalda dug into the forming slush pile and dished it out to both of her friends laughing out loud.
Pales got hit twice once by Chalda and once by Jayoku. "Eep. I am out numbered."
Toki chirped and seemed to giggle. Toki seemed to feel quite safe.
Jayoku raised an arm up as a shield feeling the slush soak into his clothing it chilled her skin. Sitting back she watched as Chera had stopped making snow balls and seemed to be focusing really hard. A sudden plummet of snow that you only ever see happen in cartoons happened. Sitting now covered in about two inches of snow Jayoku sat stunned.
Chalda laughed again as the deluge hit. Slowly she stood and began to ring out her hair while she shook her head at Chera. "You certainly are enjoying yourself aren't you hun!" She snatched up the little puff and tossed her into the whole in the snow that had been left by her body. "Have a taste of your own medicine!"
Pales blinked a bit. Toki hid under Pales' jacket where it was loosest. "Uhh... Wow..."
Chera got back up stiffly, she of course wasn't fazed by the snow, it was her element. But floated up and then landed in a clear area and made a snow angel. Jayoku giggled.
Chalda giggled as well. She used her fingers to try to make a matching one and then made a nice happy face for it.
Pales dusted off some of the snow from his head and smirked, "That was certainly powerful..." Toki peeked out from the coat. "Chyuu?"
Jay nodded her head. "Yah...she never was able to pull off that much snow at once before." She shook her head to get rid of the snow that had piled on her hair and then watched as Chalda and Chera made snow angels together.
Chalda poked Chera in the tummy. "Looks like you are getting more powerful aren't you hun. Either that or it's just practice right?" She shivered a little. She was soaking wet and the breeze was cooler that way. She lay down in the sun a bit away from the snow where she tried to dry out a bit.
Jay got up to join her. While Chera seemed quite comfortable with where she was playing in the snow.
He just sat still and offered his hand to Toki, who happily hopped on it, "Chyu?" Pales smirked a bit, "It's snow. It's very cold."
Chalda sat up and smiled. "Come sit in the sun little one! It's much warmer over here." Chalda lay back down on her back and basked in the warm sun.
Jayoku yawned again. The sun always made her feel dozy. Chera was making a snow many in the snow. Rolling little balls around until they are about as big as herself.
Toki cautiously floated out and blinked, "Snooo..." She murmured. She was somewhat fascinated with it. Pales chuckled, "Careful little one..." [To be continued...]

 Roleplay: Pales Aurora Fiara
Using: AIM Messanger.
Where: A park somewheres.
Edited/Colored By: Pales + Aurora Fiara He sat upon a bench sort of sprawled out, as if he had been pushed, but it was simply how he felt comfortable. Something small, fluffy, and quite pink was bouncing and occasionally floating along his leg. Every now and again Pales gave an amused laugh and he'd speak to it. It seemed the puff understood as it would give off happy, "Chyuu!" sounds.
Aurora, at the moment, was strolling through the park from the other side towards Pales' bench. Around her neck rested a simple, hand-made pouch and from it there emitted a rather bright light, as though whatever inside was glowing like the sun. Every once in awhile a small, lightly tanned hand would reach up to touch the pouch, almost to make sure that whatever was inside was safe, and comfortable. Finally, she stopped to settled down between the roots of a particularly large tree, fingertips reach in to pull out the glowing object and she cradled the object between her two hands, quietly whispering to it in tones no one else could hear.
Bouncing along Toki suddenly stopped and shivered glancing around curiously.
"Hmm? What's wrong?" Pales blinked a little sitting up a bit, first time he saw that reaction.
"Ch-yyyuuuu!" Suddenly the small puff zipped away from Pales causing him to give a startled and dismayed cry. It wasn't look before Aurora was pretty much hearing a small voice going, "Chyu?" near where she sat. As well as seeing a tall man scrambling toward her.
Auri glanced up quietly at all the commotion, her head tilting to one side curiously at the little pink puff that now floated near her. Those light grey eyes of hers lifted towards the tall, rather lanky man scrambling towards her and she blinked lightly in confusion as once more her eyes returned to the puff.
"Er, hello there little one. Where did you come from?" For some reason, her egg seemed to glow a bit brighter, as though reacting to the nearby puff, though it went unnoticed by Aurora.
"Chyuu! Pretties?" Toki murbled only perching on Auri's shoulder peering toward Pales. "Dah..dee com..s..see! Shiny!" The puff murbled, though it was doubtful the man heard the tiny voice.
When Pales was but a few feet he collapsed to his knees panting a bit, "Toki..D..Don't run off on me like that.."
Once more Aurora blinked before she quickly deposited the little egg back within it's pouch and stood to move towards Pales, lightly kneeling beside him. Her eyes were kind, and a bit worried.. strange in these times for strangers to show kindness to others. Though as she moved, she tried not to jostle the little puff resting firmly on her shoulder.
"Sir, are you alright...?" Perhaps it was from her care for birds that she was so kind to humans, or maybe instinctively she felt the need to be protective because of his nature. Though that, of course, is unknown to her consciously. The little pouch around her neck still continued to emit a warm, gentle glow, almost like the feeling of the sun upon your face on a warm day.
He took a deep breath and gulped it down, "Y..yeah. Was just worried...My little one ran off toward you..She could have gotten..h..hurt.." He calmed down some staring at the ground for a few moments. "I..am sorry. She isn't bothering you, is she?"
Once more she tilted her head to one side, in a very bird-like way which sometimes bothered her, and sometimes enthralled her how easily she could pick up the habits of a bird after shifting into one. Another rather odd thing about her was her hair at the moment seemed to be dyed after the color of a blue-jay, with blues, whites and blacks all mixed in together. A warm smile then came to her face as she lightly shook her head, turning it ever so slightly to look at the puff on her shoulder.
"No, she's not bothering me at all, Toki is it? What's brought you and your father over to me, little one?" She lightly reaches out a fingertip to try to touch the puff, not quite making the connection between the puff and her egg just yet.
Toki stared at the pouch for a long moment, "Shi...nee ..Pretties." She spoke brokenly.
Pales chuckled lightly, "Good, I am glad of that." He relaxed slightly though still watched the woman carefully as well as Toki, "I'm Pales D'Arcy by the way.." He introduced himself. It was only polite.
Lightly she furrowed her brow at Toki's response, obviously a bit confused by it. Why was the little thing staring at her breasts? Her thoughts were broken then, by Pales' introduction and she smiled, a soft hand reaching out towards him.
"Aurora Fiara, it's a pleasure to meet you, Pales D'Arcy." She grinned a little bit, before turning back to try to puzzle out the confusion with the little pink puff thing. Her grey eyes moved down to her chest, where the little pouch was glowing warmly. "Oh! That's what you're looking at, isn't it?" Lightly she removed the gum-drop sized egg once more, holding it out to Toki as it rested in her palm. "This is Cira. Or at least.. it will be if it will actually hatch like I suspect it to."
Pales nodded at the introduction and just watched for a moment then blinked at the egg produced, "That a Wethkin egg?" He almost stuttered.
Toki trilled happily, "Shi-nee, pretee...Sees?" Toki said to Pales.
Pales chuckled a bit but still looked a slight bit shocked, "I err..Toki is a larva puff Wethkin, that is why I asked.." He chuckled again and shook his head, "Funny meeting another guardian here." He gave a small smile looking at Aurora's face for a long moment.
Those pale grey eyes moved once more to Pales and she too appeared surprised by his question. "You.. know of the Wethkins? That's what the note called her, a sunshine Wethkin.." She tilts her head to Toki, watching her curiously. "A larva puff.. how interesting. I found Cira in the woods when I was fl.. er.. walking through at night. She was just there.. glowing, and I decided to take her home. I then found a note attached to my door about how to keep her healthy as an egg, and saying she would hatch eventually."
She certainly was a strange one, this girl, but Pale's face or mood didn't fluctuate he just nodded, "I found Toki while being lectured to death." Is all he said and gave a soft chuckle, "I got a note when I got home as well. It was really quite queer actually. Almost made me move address." He was normally shy around people but it seemed different around this person though he wasn't sure why, "Must have been meant for you." He added with a nod.
"Ment..foh.. yuu!" Toki chimed after.
Aurora giggled lightly as Toki chimes in with Pales, her grey eyes dancing with amusement. "I guess it must have been, though like you I was a little shocked to see it. It made me feel as though I was being... watched, or some such, y'know?" She laughed lightly at the concept, shaking her head. Though it had worried her immensely, not many knew everything about her, and she preferred to keep it that way.
He nodded, "I know how that is." He smiled a bit and rubbed his hands against his pants and shook his head. "Toki is a very happy little puff. She also makes me use a lot of my energy to keep up with her." He laughed slightly, "She is also very curious. I think she partially got that from me somehow." He smirked a bit, "Shiny and glittery is a common love we both share I guess."
"Shi-nees." She chirped happily.
She let out a very warm, heartfelt laugh at that, her smile practically causing her face to light up with happiness. "So I see! She's a very beautiful little thing though, isn't she? I hope Cira is like that, beautiful. I wouldn't want her to go through life being told she's ugly, and worthless." She stopped there, the smile fading from her face for a moment before she shook her head. "Well, I'm sure she won't. She'll be just gorgeous I'm sure." She turned to look at Pales, smiling rather gently now. "So, what brings you to the park, Mr. D'Arcy?"
He shrugged, "Toki likes the weather currently, so I take her out as often as I can while my other daughters are off at school and such. Just her and me. I try to take time out for all my children. Adopted or no." He chuckled softly and gave a small shrug, "It's hard being a single parent I guess.." He gave a small smile.
She nodded her head lightly at that, contemplating a little bit as she glanced down at her egg. "Yes, I suppose it is, isn't it? I'm sure I'll have my hands full when my little Cira hatches." She smiled a little bit, before she chuckled gently. "Well, if you ever need someone to babysit, just let me know. I don't have a whole lot to do these days. Not many friends here and all." She smiled warmly, lightly slipping the egg back in her pouch to keep it warm. But, she also left the top open to allow the sunlight to get inside it.
He chuckled lightly, "I'll be your friend." He said cheerfully while running a free hand through his hair, "I mean I don't see why not. We seem to get along quite well." He continued on though he was blushing slightly he didn't want to make it seem that he was coming on to her.
Her eyes once more twinkled with amusement as she noticed he was blushing slightly, and she began to tease him ever so slightly. Her eyes became wide as a doe's eyes, and her hand went to her heart. "Oh.. that is so -sweet- of you! Why, I don't think I've ever met a man as sweet and caring as you are!" She was, of course, teasing. Obvious by the way she then giggled and winked at him lightly.
He went a bit redder and chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck, "Ah yah? Eh-heh." He took it all good naturedly enough smiling all the while. His jade green eyes seeming to be quite mirthful at the act she put on. "You're funny." He replied his smile turning into a faint grin, the blush had begun to fade a bit.
Toki had begun to float off of Aurora's should a bit and floating about between them.
"Well, I'm glad someone seems to think so." She grinned at him lightly, rather enjoying the attention she was getting. Her eyes wandered over to the puff and she smiled lightly. "I think someone seems to be getting bored with all this grown-up talk, eh?"
He moved up and cupped his hands and Toki landed upon them, "Hard not to for her I guess." He said with a smile, "I used to pretend to be an airplane while my ... mother had company over." His smile faltered faintly and he shrugged, "Ah to be young and innocent again, ne?" he smiled.
Aurora nodded her head lightly, her fingertips lightly caressing the egg through the pouch. "Indeed. To be so oblivious to everything.. I sort of miss it in a way I suppose. Ignorance truely is bliss."
He gave a small nod, "Though it is always good to know what one knows now. Right?" He smiled a little and petted Toki with a finger tip lightly. She seemed to enjoy the attention no matter what it's form. With a soft smile she nodded her head once more, those grey eyes of her turning a soft blue-ish color with her amusement. Was it the light? Or something more? They wandered up then, to the sky as she watched the birds twitter and fly above them. "They're beautiful, don't you think?" She gestured lightly to a blue-jay preening himself on a branch.
His head tilted up and he stared for a moment, there was no change in his face not a smile or anything, "Yeah...Birds are nice." He said faintly, "I like owls..." He looked away and nodded a bit, "I used to bird-watch but ..." He shrugs, "I guess I lost my taste for it.." He continued to pet Toki.
Lightly she blinked, her eyes moving back down to her face as she tilted her head, an expression of confusion present on her face. "Are you alright? I.. didn't say something that bothered you, did I?" She seemed.. shy all of a sudden, afraid to hurt her chances at finally having a friend here in Gaia.
He smiled lightly at her and shook his head, "Er..No. I just had bad experiences where birds are involved I guess." He bit on his lower lip, yea, real bad experiences. He looked down at Toki who peered up at him with concern, "I'm okay, really." He said to both of them.
She grimaced lightly then as she allowed her eyes to drop slightly. Bad experiences with birds? What would he do if he found out about what she.. was? Was she really something other then human now? All these thoughts ran quickly through her head, and she became so lost in them that she never responded to him. She just stared at the egg within its pouch, glowing a warm, bright light that now comforted her.
He shifted his shoulders a bit looking thoughtful, how to word this without seeming like he was hiding something, "I don't hate birds." He amended, "I just uhh.." He didn't wish to expose himself. Sure he wasn't just any type, he was a specific one. A were-creature he supposed, "I guess..I just can't look at them the same..."
Immediately she was brought out of her inner world of thoughts and back to reality as she glanced up at him. "You can't.. look at them the same? Why not?" A hand lifted up to lightly tuck back a strand of hair behind her ear. It must be odd, to see her ear, a mixture of blues, blacks and whites, much like that Blue-jay up there. In fact, it was patterned exactly like the blue-jay's feathers. How odd.
He lightly placed Toki upon his knee where she perched happily. He looked at Aurora and blinked a bit, he seemed to have finally noticed her hair, "Well uhh...Umm..Hey!" Change of subject, that was a good thing, "How'd you get that?" He pointed at her person, toward what he had noticed. It was hard not to notice several things about her, it was hard for him to ignore her now that he noticed her though he wasn't sure why.
Lightly Aurora tilted her head to look down at her hair, and suddenly she blushed a little bit, lightly nibbling on her lip. After what he had just said, she knew for a fact she couldn't tell him the truth, he'd probably turn tail and run the other way as fast as he could. "Oh, this? I like to dye my hair like this, after the color of a bird's feathers. It's.. a lot of fun for me." She smiled at him, though this time it wasn't one of her warm and bright ones, it was.. very fake, though she tried to hide that fact as best as she could. She never was very good at lying.
"Mmm. Neat, you do a good job then..." He leaned back a bit, supporting himself with his hands, he couldn't help but feel that they were dancing around eachother in an endless circle. There were things he wouldn't give up and there were things she wouldn't tell either. His eyes stared over to the side for a moment and went somewhat quiet, he seemed to debate, "Ever notice, how two people meet...They seem very open but yet they still wear masks?"
Very carefully her eyes moved to his, and a small rather sheepish smile came to her face at his words. "Yeah. Sort of like.. dancing back and forth. Can I trust him? Can he trust me? Should I leave now and pretend this never happened? It's all a game, I suppose. A game we play each time we come across someone new. Here in Gaia, it seems to be even more that way.. everyone has so many secrets to keep, so many reasons to hide and remain in the shadows."
He nodded slowly, "Kind of, and every once in a while there are two dancers...That know their moves so well they pretty much do it in time perfectly though they aren't sure why." He peered at her almost curiously for a moment. He wasn't sure what made him come to this particular subject other than his curiosity.
She nodded as well, lightly turning so she was laying down in the grass and staring up at the sky, her arms moving to rest beneath her head. "Perhaps.. because they have similar pasts, or experiences. Something about them is the same, something that causes them to dance the way they do." Her eyes turned lightly to watch him curiously, the sun reflecting off the gray and causing it to switch between blues, grays and silvers all at the same time. Not because of her mood, but just the way the light hit them.
He nodded slowly, "Perhaps. Though, say one of the dancers are tired and wants to trust someone, how can he know he trusts his partner? Is it a feeling they give or is it just fate?" He sounded thoughtful, like he was on the brink of a truth. There were a few others that knew about him, but knew to keep their traps shut.
For a moment she just watched him, as though somewhere in her head she was trying to figure him out. She wanted to tell him, but she was afraid to.. afraid of his reaction. "Perhaps.. because both dancers are tired and wish to stop and rest.. Maybe each one could make an agreement, if you stop I stop.. and in that way find trust within each other. I think.. both dancers hold a great secret, that each would like to keep that way.. or must keep that way.. and in that can trust the other to keep their secret from others?"
He nodded again carefully. Toki had long fallen asleep, having tired herself out from the earlier actions, "Yeah, maybe." He said softly, "Aurora, I...I want to be very honest with you about everything." He said suddenly, "But, I am afraid to..." He said a little softer, "I feel like...I can trust you." He peered at her for a moment, "And I would like you to feel the same about me.."
Very gently she sat up, careful not to jar her egg too much as she lifted a hand to lightly brush through her hair. "I.. there's something about you, that makes me feel we're very alike but I can't figure out what it is. Trust me, I'm afraid as well.. There's things about me I've never told anyone but.. I want to. I don't understand why I want to tell you specifically but.. perhaps it's just a connection? Like.. maybe our souls are good friends or something. I don't know.."
He shrugged a bit then nodded, "That might be it." He smiled a bit ruefully, "It's weird, cause I never met anyone quite like you before, I guess." He gave a small chuckle and looked up into the tree again, "I...Have been called many things in my time, one of which was a monster. I was only called that once...That was the only other time I was exposed, the first time.."
Lightly she frowned, a bit confused as she watched him. "A monster? How could anyone possibly call you a monster? So far.. well.. really you're the first person I've met and talked to, but you seem like a really nice person to me.."
He smiled a bit, it almost seemed bitter, "I am a shifter, I guess more of a were-creature except I don't do any of that zany moon stuff. I am in control of myself, and I hate myself...My...Mentor says I shouldn't. He says I should be proud of myself and my heritage..." He looked at her, "But what does a monster have to be proud of?"
"You're only a monster because you believe you are. Just because you can shift into something.. that doesn't make you a monster. That's.. just the outside. It's like the difference between being beautiful and thinking you're ugly. It's all about perception. Where it really counts, is your heart.. in your heart, do you think you're a monster?" She bit down on her lip lightly, wondering just what kind of shifter he might be. And, fleetingly if she was in any danger, though she quickly pushed that thought away, disgusted with herself for even thinking it.
He looked down at Toki and seemed to think for a moment. He then gently picked her up in his hands and offered her to the girl, "I don't like doing this, but this is better shown..It hurts so I think I should hand her off to you before I throw her off somewhere." Toki murbled sleepily.
Her brows furrowed at that, her hands gently taking the little Wethkin puff, fingertips moving to instinctively caress her to keep her calm and help her sleep. "..Are.. are you sure you want to do this?"
He glanced around a bit, the park was empty except for them, "Yeah, it's good here. I...Feel like I need to show you this. Compelled you know, so you can understand..I could just tell you but..That wouldn't be the same.."
Lightly she noded her head, a little bit nervous about just what he's going to show her. She continued to stroke Toki's head, but remained quiet as she just watched and waited.
Pales stood and took off his coat and boots, then he took a few steps back and started to concentrate. His skin began to turn back and his body elongated and became rather denser muscled than before. His clothes bore tightly against his form until there was a faint ripping against arms of the shirt and the pants tore. He was obviously gritting so as not to cry out, sweat beading upon his forehead, it hurt a lot. After a few moments feathers began to appear and he was forming a beak..
Her eyes widened lightly as she watched him, and she had to force herself not to stand up and take a few steps away. It wasn't until the feathers started to form, and then the beak that her eyes widened for a different reason. He.. he was a bird shifter. Like her except.. more painful it seemed. Part of her wanted to comfort him during that pain, but the other part wasn't so sure that it was safe. She'd always heard the stories about were-wolves not being able to control themselves when they shifted, she wasn't sure if the same applied to were.. was that a crow? Or a raven? She couldn't tell just yet.
After a few more moments the change was complete. It was a crow it seemed. His beak made a small clipping sound as if trying to get used to it, he swayed slightly as he stood getting used to the new height. He stared at her with his still green eyes, they still held kindness in them and a sense of 'human' thought. He cawed softly spreading out his "wings" which used to be his arms.
She stood, slowly then and took a few steps towards him. Lightly, her fingertips reached out towards his neck, and if allowed her fingers would lightly touch the feathers there, as in a comforting gesture. To herself, she wondered if.. her ability to speak with birds would apply to were-birds. It was worth a shot, eh? "You can understand me.. right?" To any others listening, it would sound as though she were chirping at him. He gave a faint nod and blinked cocking his head, a faintly bird-like nature taking over his action. He had bent his form slightly to her, allowing her to touch. It took a lot of trust for him to do that and that much was visible the way his body hesitated for but a moment when she reached for him. Lightly she smiled at him as she took a step away and played Toki on the ground, making sure where she placed her was in a pile of leaves, soft and comforting. She reached beneath her shirt and lightly she produced the hawk feather she always kept with her and tied it to her bra using a bit of string she kept there as well. For a moment she closed her eyes as he had, concentrating, and unlike his transformation, hers was quick and painless. Immediately she was transformed into the species of hawk that the feather belonged too, though this time actually scaled down to actual size. She fluffed her wings a little bit, experimentally, before she looked up at him to see his reaction.
He cawed softly at her he seemed to think about it for a moment and suddenly began to shrink down, again this transformation seemed rather painful and he losses a few feathers in the process. Though since he was half way there it didn't take much until he was a full crow. An abnormally large crow, but a crow none-the-less.
It was too bad Aurora didn't have a crow feather, otherwise she would have been able to change into that. But, for some reason the crows she had come across had been extremely unwilling to accept her help for anything. She hopped towards him and tilted her head to one side to be able to get a better look at him, it always took her awhile to get used to the way a bird's sight worked after she first changed. And she seemed to get a little disoriented at first, but quickly recovered as she became used to it once more.
He spread out his wings a bit. He seemed amused more than anything. Deep down he was glad Toki was asleep or else she'd be afraid for sure. His clothes, embarrassingly enough laid strewn about behind him. His clothes unfortunately didn't change with the form.
Aurora was lucky in that respect then, her clothes did change with her form, and even the little egg that had been around her neck was still there. The cord of the pouch had shrunk, so it wouldn't drag on the ground, but it was still there around her neck, and the little egg still rested warmly inside it. With an amused look, her eyes almost giggling she took off for a moment and flew around him, loving the feel of the air beneath her wings before she settled back down on the ground. And then, playfully, she grabbed his pants and started trying to drag them away, as though she was going to hide them somewhere.
He let out a small caw sound and started to hop toward her to grab at what was left of his poor shreaded pants. Surely it'd be more of a skirt by the time it was all said and done. He flapped his wings a time or two, almost lifting up off of the ground.
She skrees at him lightly, almost chuckling as she releases his pants, and go instead for his shredded shirt. How was he going to get out of here, anyway? With shredded clothes that would barely cover anything. She could take him back to her house but.. she didn't really have any male-ish clothes there.
He hopped after again, he was just thankful he still had boots and jacket, those would sustain him, even if he would look like a perve that got off on exposing himself to young women, but he was a fast walker. Stopped and stared at her as if daring her to go for the shirt.
She paused for a moment, watching him for a split second before she hopped fast for the shirt, scooping the material into her beak and then attempted to take off into the sky with it, her wings flapping hard. No wonder she had such strong arms.
He pretty much hopped and dove for the shirt, using his wings as a mechanism to do so, but it was too late. He laid there for a moment before staying on the ground glancing at the puff for a moment then peering up at the other bird. Hmmph. Jacket. Still had the jacket..
With a triumphant, but muffled screech she flew in low, trying to maneuver with the shirt until suddenly the wind changed and caused it to get caught up in her wings. She fought with it, to try to regain her altitude, but it was a hopeless endeavor and she tumbled to the ground. At least she was flying low, so she wasn't hurt, but.. she was still tangled. She let out a skree of frustration, squirming and flapping her wings to try to get out of it.
He let out a light caw and quickly hopped over to her to try and help her out, careful not to pinch any meaty part of her. Pulling and tugging he tried to untangle her, if that doesn't work she may have to see him naked, mentally he blushed at that, he should avoid that at all costs he decided and continue to work through it as a crow. They'd get her out in a year about, yeah that's about right, maybe by then Toki'll be a child and be able to use her fingers to help.
She continued to squirm and flap, her beak picking at the shirt until with a frustrated skree she hopped away from him and closed her eyes, transforming back into her usual, human-y self. Which, of course, caused the shirt to rip apart due to the size difference. Suddenly, her eyes went wide as saucers and she glanced down at the pouch around her neck. "Oh god. The egg's gone!" It must have tumbled out when she hit the ground.. hopefully it wasn't cracked. Quickly her eyes scanned the immediate area, looking for anything small and glowing.
He let out a rather loud caw and suddenly took off to the sky and began to circle the area, thinking it better this way. He just hoped she'd stay to watch over Toki while she snoozed away. He swore that puff could possibly sleep through 3 train wrecks and an earth quake as he flew swooping down near by to get a better look at the ground to make sure some grass wasn't covering it.
Auri watched as Pales suddenly took off, and she stood as if to go off and help him look for it until she caught a glimpse of Toki sleeping there on the ground. She couldn't leave her here alone, God knows what would happen to her. She settled back down on the ground and lightly took Toki into her lap, allowing her to rest there. Anxiously she waited for Pales, hoping he would find it.. she'd be so angry at herself if she lost that egg, or it cracked. She didn't want to be seen as a bad caretaker, and she was worried about it.
He came back after a few moments but kept searching, He then noticed that a part of the shirt was sort of glittering and glowing, it was possible to have missed this particular glow because it was dim and not the usual shine they were used to. He hopped over to the shirt and tore a hole into it with his beak instead of shaking the shirt about and risk breaking the egg. He took it very gently and glided over to Aurora and stood there all proud of himself for thinking so quickly.
Her eyes widened as she saw Pales rip through the shirt to the egg, and very carefully opened her hands to take it from him, checking all over it to make sure it wasn't cracked or bruised in anyway. "Oh Pales.. thank you. Thank you so much.."
He carefully dropped the egg into her offered hand and let her check it over. He looked at Toki where she laid and let out a soft crooning sound, a fatherly action if anything. He then looked over to his clothes and let out a soft sigh flapping his wings he hopped over to his jacket, grabbed it in his beak and began to drag it over.
She glanced up at him quietly, watching for a moment before she stood, placing Toki on her shoulder carefully and moved over to pick up the jacket and his boots. She was sure to deposit the egg back into the pouch again, though. "Alright, where do you want me to take them?"
He let her take the jacket, as he had not much choice in the matter, he peered behind the tree, and cocked his head toward it.
Lightly she nodded her head and moved behind the tree, placing the jacket and the boots down behind it. She moved away then, and settled down in the grass with her back to the tree, and with her eyes closed as well, just in case. "Let me know when you're done."
He cawed in thanks and hopped where she had placed the items and began to change. There was some cracking sounds and a soft groan as the process finished, "Damn it that hurts." He mutters softly and then the soft shuffle of clothes is heard as he puts on his jacket and buttons it up so as that none of him is exposed. He also slipped on his boots. Toki opened one eye and murbled questioningly before yawning big and just nestling down a bit with a small sigh.
She smiled lightly at Toki, lifting a finger to lightly caress her as she waited for Pales to say he was done. She was a bit worried though, about the pain it seemed to cause him, though at the same time she was touched that he had endured that to show her. It was.. confusing.
Once happy that it was all secure, "Alright. I am decent now." He laughed a bit and stepped forward a few times, "Sorry about that. Didn't want to umm.." He blushed and shrugged. "So yeah...Monster is what the first girl called me after I saved her from a rapist...I guess it is a little scary. I can sort of see why you weren't quite scared though still.."
Her eyes drifted open and she turned to look at him, offering up a warm smile. "I.. honestly I was at first, until I realized just what it was you were turning into. Besides, I reasoned with myself that you wouldn't have shifted into that, if you felt that you would lose control and harm me, right? So.. I wasn't scared at all after that." She stood then, lightly taking Toki off her shoulder to hand to him. "Thank you.. for trusting me."
He gently took Toki and smiled a bit, "I'd never hurt you. Never ever." He smiled a bit, "Thank you for trusting me too then.." He replied lightly petting Toki. It felt weird talking to her, probably because of his current state of dress. He shifted his shoulders a bit.
Her eyes traveled down to where she could see that he didn't have on any socks, and she giggled lightly, realizing he was naked beneath that outfit. She blushed suddenly, at that thought. "Perhaps.. you should head home and get some new clothes on..?"
He nodded slightly blushing a bit more because she was blushing, "Yeah. I guess so.." He bit a little on his lower lip. "I uhh.." He put Toki upon his shoulder and got out a piece of napkin and managed to find a pen in his pocket as well, he scribbled down his number and address, "There, if you want to come over and stuff.." He offered the slightly crumbled napkin to her.
She smiled gently, tearing off a piece of the napkin as she did the same in kind, offering him the torn piece with her address and number. "I'd love to, sometime. When you're.. not so indisposed. Just give me a call, I work sometimes at a bookstore, but more often then not I'll be home." She didn't mention the fact that the reason why she was home all the time was she didn't have any friends, didn't know anyone, even after three years of living on Gaia.
He took it and smiled a bit, and accepted the scrap. He thought for a moment, "Hey uhh...Got something to do tomorrow? Maybe we can hang out again?" It was about the closest to a date he'd ask anyone out on. "W..We can go out to dinner or something, just friends y'know?"
She laughed softly as she nodded her head. "I'd have to check my calendar.. Oh, who am I kidding. I'd love to, Pales." She blushed a little bit, her arms slipping around her stomach as she smiled a rather happy smile. "What time do you want me to show up? And where?"
He glanced around a bit, "Here is good. I can remember here, and whatever time is good for you." He let out a small sigh, that was easier than expected. He folded his hands behind his back after making sure the scrap was placed in a safe pocket.
She grinned then, lofting an eyebrow. "A picnic then! That sounds lovely. I'll bring a blanket and utensils and such, if you'll bring the food." Her heart got a little nervous at what was going on, but she was able to keep it under control. "And how about sometime in the evening. Eight o' clock? It's always beautiful under the stars this time of year, with little fire-flies buzzing around."
He blinked and chuckled lightly, "Sure. I'll uhh, leave Toki at home and have the girls watch over her..." He nodded faintly. That seemed appropriate enough. "Then it's all settled? You won't get mad if I am late will you?" He chuckled a bit more.
She giggled at him lightly, a bit of mischevious-ness in her eyes. Yes, she was extremely playfull, and a bit of a flirt. "Only if I get a kiss for every minute you're late." She grinned at him, just waiting to see his reaction.
He went extremely red in the face and let out what seemed to be a giggle. "Ah hehehe. W..We'll see about that." he wore a small grin trying to get the blush to fade out. By his ear he heard a giggle. Toki seemed to have awakened.
Auri glanced down at Toki and she laughed softly, shaking her head. "Well, I'll see you here at 8 tomorrow night, then." She waved to both of them before turning and heading in the direction of her home, figuring it was as good a time to leave as any.
"See you then." He agreed then turned to make his way home as well making sure his coat didn't decide to pop open, oh god that would be embarrassing. He sighed to himself, though before leaving he gathered his shredded remains of clothes and tucked them under his clothes, he muttered under his breath, "It looks like a wolverine had its way with me."
Toki simply giggled and murbled, "Wuul-ver-ene!"

Journal Entry of: Pales Made on: December 8th, 2005
Title: Sluggish little thing...
Toki seems to prefer napping a lot now. She also seems oddly irate and very touchy about stuff. It must be all of the gray dim weather outdoors. She obviously doesn't like winter at all. Go figure.
Have to get the place ready for a few more to move in now. I don't mind though. They are very special people in a way. Though I have to take time and explain to Toki as to why she should not bother one of them. I wouldn't put it past the child to harm Toki, but only if Toki decided to annoy the child past her patience level.
Albion seems far too amused by everything that is happening around here, and he keeps sneaking Toki little sugary treats. Enough of those and Toki is quite .. active despite the winter weather. Tried to get the old coot to stop that but he seems to refuse to listen to me.
Armel is trying to teach Toki how to read and write. Though I don't think any of it is sinking in, but whatever helps them bond. Toki just revels in the attention, and always comes back even if he manages to insult her or make her cry. I guess she figures that he doesn't mean it...
Better go cook dinner.

A little after Pales leaves his room Toki hops out of hiding and unto the bottom part of the journal page. She starts concentrating a little and then starts hopping about on the bottom-blank part of the page leaving trails of pink-ish pollen-esque residue:
