I don't think there is a Wu Shu place even near me I know we don't have one here or the towns around us I have only seen two Kung Fu places around my Wing Chun school and one other place that I am not sure is even runing any more.

oh? where do u live? i know theres quite a number of wushu schools around the west coast, but im not sure about the middle region of the country

I live in Garden City Kansas to my knowledge there is no school around here close to me wichita from what I see on the net may have one and it looks like Kansas City but there is no way I can do that I wish there was one here. I want to learn Chin Na, Gouquan dog style maybe and probably Shuai Jiao and I would love to learn to use the Dao, Pu Dao, spear maybe Kuan Dao. I want to learn more grappling techniques to add to my Wing Chun maybe learn more Nanquan systems I am more of a punching grappling type of guy so southern styles with less kicks would be great for me.

ic, the grappling guy? yea, nanquan would be good since you mainly use the upper body with lots of punches, swings, and low stances. Guoquan is a very unique and kool looking style of wushu. The contemporary forms are just so lively and definintly brings out the spirit of the dog lol.

This is a contemporary form, its just fun to watch lol......

Cool videos.

I want to mix My Wing Chun with things like Jujutsu, Chin Na and other arts that deal with standing grappling and ground fighting to creat something new and more for me. I am a big guy I weight 230lbs and I like to get ahold of people in fights I just never had any real grappling training. I love wolves and unfortionatly there is no animal style like wolf style but I found that there is a dog style so I would love to learn it and mix that in with what I already know. I have been doing Wing Chun for around 5 years and am getting real close to becoming an instructor in my class.

My idea is to use my Wing Chun to get in close and apply joint locks to damage joints and break bones in an attackers arms than use throws or other take down techniques to get them on the ground so I can stomp them or go to the ground if I feel I need to. If I know more grappling I will be able to fight on the ground if I need to and if I learn more joint locks I can take some one out with out hurting them if thats what I feel is best. I want to creat something more for me I can't kick very high so I didn't much like TKD and Wing Chun just felt right because of my size and strength I think a grappling style should be the next step in my training.

I like combat styles I am not much in to sport fighting. The ultimate fighting style in my mind is a rounded art that can not only destroy an attacker but his weapons to I want to mix what I know with joint attacks and bone breaking techniques so I can move in quickly and attack the arms and legs giving them nothing to fight with. Any training I have with joint locks will also give me the option to take someone without any real injury which is one thing I have truble with. I know how to hurt people but I don't know how to use aresting moves and things like that so realy my only option is to do harm.

Nah, I'd only been there for a week at the time I filmed those performances. However I have been volunteered to perform 5-Stance and Long-Fist at their end of year performance.

I get nervous geting up in front of people I skiped every demonstration we have done in the past I just don't like it. The things we do don't look that cool though no jumps, flips, splits , cartweels nothing real fancy about Wing Chun.

I can tear a guys bladder with a palm strike not something you can show to a croud though. I thought about working on my forms more and going to some of the Karate competitions and show my stuff but I just have a hard time standing in front of people I don't know.

ya, i can tell you are the kind of person who is more interested in the application and the combative side of wushu rather than the demonstration side, thats still kool.

I demonstrate for my school regularly, so its not much big of a deal nemore......though sumtimes i get too nervous and end up doing sumthing totally different lol...we demonstrate to spread chinese culture and the martial art, so yep biggrin

Sorry for late reply, but the history with Jet Li and our group is on sfwushu.net/wushu.html
It says " In 1989, Zhou Jing Ping and Jet Li left the Beijing Wushu Team and came to teach the San Francisco Wushu Team.".

Jet Li is not planning to do action movies any more crying I wonder if he plans to start doing more with Wu Shu or if he is thinking of trying to get into other types of movies.
