The old man looked from Flitch to Junketsu, to the floor. We walked over to the boy and bent down. when he came up again he was holding the bracelet. "Sorry 'bout that, just didn't expect that little thing to charge me down... your interested in this bracelet then? Tell me, what do you think it is boy, you look smart..."
Junketsu felt like melting into the floor, she didn't want to get them into any trouble, but it really wasn't her fault that old man came out of no where. Turning her head slightly she looked to him, though she remained in Flitch's arms, reluctant to yet leave, she whispered: "Maybe he's just cranky because he has a humpy back?"

Flitch supressed a giggle at Junketsu's comment, giving the girl a quiet hair-ruffle to reassure the girl that things were indeed all right. This guy didn't seem so bad after all, it seemed... or was he? With the first impressions being what they were, Flitch wasn't entirely sure he could trust the man.
Nonetheless he took the bracelet, the thin metal object gleaming dully in the light. Junketu's spit and his shirt corner polishing technique had done wonders to the bracelet's appearance, and a good portion of the tarnish seemed to have been rubbed off. Small ornamental designs could now be seen on the bracelet, but it would take a good thorough washing to fully show what they were.
Squinting at it, he turned the object around and around as he puzzled over it. "Hm. The metal looks to be some copper composite, but it's not brass. Bronze, maybe? It doesn't look like a terribly high quality material, but I can tell there's something... else to it. It's a piece that's far too valuable for your everyday oddities shop, that's for sure. So it's either got to have an interesting history behind it, or it's got some sort of enchantment on it. And I don't recognize it from any books, so I'm going with the enchantment bit..."

Junketsu responded to the reassurance from Flitch but gently moving out of his arms but staying close by and whispering. "This grandpa... I think he's a little off balanced don't you? He's a meanie cat and I don't like 'im."
She looked up at the man a look of disgust on her face, and then turned back to Flitch. "He smells like that box of pictures daddy found in the attic..."
The old man scowled at the little Sin girl, she had no manners did she? In his day he would just take her over his knee and give her a good spanking. Though now-a-days that's more frowned upon than it once was, so instead he responded with some verbal repremanding. "Quiet you little whelp. I'm going to teach you both about that braclet... if you can compose yourself. Now give it here boy!" He grabbed the braclet from Flitch's hand and looked it over, his glasses seemed to gloss over and he went into a nostalgic mode.
"Mhm, this is a really old piece. When we first opened shop, my late wife and I that is, a man, don't ask me who. I'm not sure, came in one day and handed over the box this thing was in and told us to care for it. He said something about finding it on one of his little trips in some other country... someplace in Europe, can't think of the name now. He had his own company, he was one of those people who dug up the earth looking for old artifact and whatever. Blah Blah, that guy went on for a while, to be honest I stopped listening to him, he was a dullard. He may have been insane, but he said there was some magic about it something... what he didn't say..."
The old man smiled slightly and handed it back to Flitch. "Maybe you want to try it on? Just to see what it does? Hm, go on now. do it huh?"
Under her breathe Junketsu muttered to Flitch: "he's creepy... and a oldy-poo. I bet he's just beind dumb. But still I wonder if it does anything funny...?"

As he listened to the story the old man was telling them, Flitch couldn't help but frown slightly as he kept one reassuring hand on Junketsu's shoulder. He said nothing to Junketsu in return, for fear of being overheard by the man, only instead giving her shoulder a gentle squeeze as if telling her it was all going to be okay. He wasn't going to let this half-crazed old man do anything to them.
When the old man tried to offer the bracelet back to Flitch, the boy couldn't help but give him a mildly puzzled frown. "...wait. You're telling me that it's magic, but you don't know WHAT type of magic, and so you want me to try it on FOR you? What if it's dangerous? Just going around and tossing on magic items you don't know about isn't very smart, anyways. If you wanna find out so bad, then how come you've never put it on?"

"Hm, yeah Flitchy is right! That thing could make him go dead! Nope, you can't put it on Flitchy, no. So sorry." Junketsu turned to Flitch her face very set, she was determined not to let anyone put it on, she was little but not stupid. Why she had seen Jackie Chan movies, enchanted stuff usually always is bad. "No Flitchy! Think of Jackie Chan, what would he say?"
"Why have I never put it on? Because I'm old, I don't have too much time left and I'm not going prematurely. If your afraid to put it on here then take it home, do more research on it or whatever. I don't care." The old man tossed it back into it's box and handed it to Flitch.
"There, it's yours. For free, no charge. No if you kids will excuse me, I have to go out back." With that than man disappeared behind a hanging in the wall, which obviously led to back store rooms and such.
"Well... he's gone. What should we do now? Keep looking? Or maybe try and learn about the braclet? I think he said you could keep it."

Catching the bracelet, Flitch gave it a dubious look before shoving it in a coat pocket before turning to Junkie. The man had quickly burnt out any further ambitions of exploration for Flitch, and he responded to the girl's question with a shrug.
"I dunno, this place is a bit too unfriendly," he sighed. "Wanna go meet up with Mr. PJ and see if you can come to my place soon? Anvi's fiancee is a mage, and so he can use magic to show what the bracelet is. And if it's a good spell, I'll give it to you for safekeeping, okay?"

"Oh yeah! We can go there now, I never saw your house before! Let's go make daddy let me play at your house and play with magic and... and lots more! Come on, I bet he's outside someplace there!" Junketsu's excitment carried her away as she grabbed Flitch's hand and ran towards the door. Magic... that's got to be some sort of exciting!
PJ was waiting outside the store, bags in hand. He had finished his shopping a while ago and so decided to wait here for them, in truth, he actually wanted to see Junketsu and ask her what else she wanted to do today, but he was far to intimidated by that dark store looming overhead. So instead he decided to sit on the curb and wait for the two kids to finish up. "Wonder how much longer they are going to take?"

As soon as the pair burst into the sunlight, Flitch's usual cheery mood couldn't help but return to him. His smile was just as fast to return to his face, and he greeted PJ with a grin and a wave.
"Hey Mr. PJ!" he called, waving at the man on the curb. "We're all done in the shop. And would you and Junketsu like to come to my house? We got a magic thing in the shop, and we wanna find out what kind of magic it has...."

Before her father could open his mouth in response Junketsu jumped into the conversation, as she normally spoke when giving an order her voice was soft but firm. "Um... daddy, were definatly going to Flitchy's home now. And your going to take us... I love you!" She ended her "request" (order) with a kind "I love you," she may be young but she knew that with men, or her father at least, a little bit of love always helped her get what she wanted.
"Flitchy, where you live?"
PJ was quite used to his daughter's "requests" by now, and he was quite ready to hear it as well, so unlike most adults who would be scandelised at this little girl's manners and her general uncouth-ness, PJ just smiled.
After all children will be children, and not for a long time either, why not let them have fun now. Plus PJ was fond of Flitch and his family, they were good people, and Junketsu obviously crushes on Flitch. "Yeah, fine. We can go if you want.

Flitch grinned, trying not to laugh a little at how Junketsu seemed to have her guardian completely cowed. My, she was a bold one? He supposed that's what the liked about her. She was a tough girl when she wanted to be.
"I don't live far from here," he explained. "It's just a few blocks, really. But I know Anvion would be glad to have you over. She hasn't been getting out much with our new brother."

"Oh, you have a new litttle brother? Well that must be neat? Being a big brother? Do you like him?" PJ never really knew how to talk to children, they were like a whole nother race to him, but he figured some polite conversation would hurt as he headed off in the direction he thought Flitch lived.
"Oh, you have you very own kiddie now? I want a baby but daddy wouldn't give me one. A well, will this brother get in the way with our magic? Or maybe we could try the bracelet on him?" Junketsu really did think her idea was genious, she still didn't seem to understand what could be dangerous about a magical bracelet which even it's owner didn't know what it did, so it was very fortunate she didn't have it on her, otherwise that would have been tragic.

"Being a big brother is okay," Filtch said with a shrug. "It's just a little crazy in the house now with seven kids. And Iya's... different. I like him well enough, but he can be a bit hard to handle at times. He's blind too, so don't get upset if he starts poking at you. Interrupting him usually sets him off..."
He kindly left out the fact that Iyachtu had claws. Sharp claws. He didn't much want to gett he other two nervous, though he reasoned they'd find out soon enough. After all, Anvion's arms were a bloody mess these days. And witht he fact that she often left the wounds easy to see...
Oh well. Hopefully Iya was to be in a better mood than he usually was today. Instead of worrying over the topic, Flitch just laughed quietly at Junketsu's idea and shook his head. "I don't think so, Junkie. He'll probably avoid the magic, but putting the bracelet on might not be good. Varlen can find it out fast enough, though. He's really good at magic."

[[Sorry for the wait.]]
"Wow... seven children, you must have a very busy life. Would your mother happen to be A Catholic Irish woman? My family was, and they had alot of kids too." PJ shuttered at the thought of having so many children, Junketsu alone was a handful, and when Flitch mentioned that his young brother was blind, well PJ thought Anvion a saint for taking care of so many children.
"So... how far are we from you house?"
"Hm, but if nobody puts it on we won't know what it does, and if we don't know what it does how can Mister Varl-whatever find it out?"

((Pfft. *I* apologize for making you wait.))
Catholic Irish? Flitch wasn't quite sure what that was, yet he shook his head regardess. "Nope," he replied. "None of us are her children by blood. None of us are even the same race. Well, the twins are, but they're really different, too, so they're the closest to having two of a kind..."
He paused, chewing lightly on his lower lip, then added solemnly "Anvion can't have kids by blood. She's infertile. But don't mention it, okay? It makes her sad when people mention it." His wide blue eyes looked imploringly at PJ and Junketsu, hoping that they would agree.
"But we're almost there, he added cheerfully once he was sure that the two would not mention the sensitive subject, pointing down the street they were currently on. "We're only two blocks away. See the house with the pretty red tree out front? That's where we live. And for the magic bracelet, Varlen can use HIS magic. His is really strong. When we went back to where he 'n' Anvion are from, we went to a big magic country called Thay, and he was really famous there. He was an archmage there," he finished happily. "And archmages know tons and tons of strong magic."

((Real life issues have been killing me sort of. Sorry, but I'm on more often now ;D))
"Oh obsolutlely, Junketsu and I both know better than to say anything that would cause Anvion any displease. Don't we Junketsu." This statement was not a question, rather it was an order of sort, Junketsu was a perfect young woman, she knew all the right times to say the worst things. She knew, her father it, she would watch it now.
"Yes daddy, I know." Junketsu sighed, her father could be difficult sometimes. She always thought this "fatherly" thing was just a phase, a passing caprice. She would be shocked to learn the truth, she would be stuck with this man for years.
"So if he's famous... does that mean you are too? does he teach you his magic? Did he make that tree red! OH THAT'S SO NEAT!" Junketsu smiled, a day that was suppose to just be spent shopping was turning into quite the adventure, she would need to take this all down in her journal, the most fascinating piece of literature the family owned, when she got home.
