The deer tumbled and River moved out of the way in time for it to go crushing down. She ran round and sank her teeth into the underside of the deer. Ripping at the flesh and letting her maw become stained by the warm blood.
She didn't see that Ren had got trapped but as the deer stopped moving she looked up from the hole she had created in the animals stomach. Her face was covered in blood, the colour suited her in truth but it stank and made her hungry.
"You sure did Ren, lets eat." River then lowered her head to rip at the dead animal some more, she needed food.

She wasted no time into tearing into the meat, the lush, warm flesh a joy to her stomach as she gobbled down the food. It was as if she hadn't eaten for months, eating with a ravenous ferocity which would be terrifying to set eyes upon.
Her maw and nose was covered in blood and her usually emotionless eyes were wild with blood frenzy.
But as with all things the emotions began to pass and soon the food was beginning to weigh heavily in her belly.
With a great sigh the wolfess pulled back away from the kill and reclined slowly. Her belly was rounded now from her gorging but there was a look of pure contentment on her face - eyes closed and lips pulled up into the slightest of smiles.

River finished after Ren, the taste of the meat was so nice that she ate alot more then she needed to, after all she didn't know when she would next eat so why not make the most of this meal?
When she did finish she licked at her maw trying to clean some of the blood on it. She found it irritating when blood dried on her fur, if never seemed to come off again.
She laid down next to the carcass and looked at Ren waiting to be told what was going to happen next. She didn't know much and would like to hear more about what she was helping Ren achieve.

She took the time to lick at the sides of her mouth and nose, ridding her face of any traces of blood before res-settling herself upon the ground.
When she was comfortable she exhaled slowly and twitched her ears forwards, glancing at the brown furred femme who was relaxing close beside her.
From here on out I must rely on my senses and tracking skills. She finally spoke, eyes closed and body relaxed. I know the scents of the ones I search as well as my own, so there will be no worry about me missing or mistaking it. She was completely confident in her abilities.
River, I must warn you that the wolves I search for have close ties with myself. A frown appeared on her face now, This is not information I wish to give lightly but I feel I have no choice. If you are not prepared for this you may not be able to aid me as you wish when it comes to it.
She paused, the words ominous and it was clear she was hesitating on whether or not she should be saying this.

River had placed her head on her paws as she was laying down, it was more comfortable.
Her ears pricked up as Ren started speaking and she listened intently.
"I will help you Ren no matter what, I have told you that already, you have my loyalty." She didn't move her head as she spoke which she found quite regretable as it wasn't easy to speak while laying ones head on their paws.
"You can tell me, I am ready for what ever it is." She raised her head as she spoke this time, not making the same mistake twice! She wasn't expecting it to be good and by the way Ren was talking they were either family or old pack members.

River was just about to find out how right she was, and with a deep sigh she turned her head away to glance out across the trees. It was here that she would re-call her life story and tell River of things she had told no one else before. Why she was doing it was obvious.
She needed to tell River to prepare her.
And she needed someone to tell because she had held in the pain so long. For too long had she held the burden alone and now here beneath the morning sun was the moment she had been expecting and dreading.
My tale is not a happy one, though I am sure not all wolves are blessed with joyful lives. She blinked slowly, ears flattening slightly as she re-called the grief.
I was an only pup, it was just me and my mother. We walked the world as lones, travellers who would do as we pleased and go as we pleased. We were proud, we were strong and we were positive that no one would ever get the better of us. She sniffed, but of course that wasn't true.
Eyes closed again as she pictured her mother, a wolfess of stunning and glowing beauty. One day we accidently waltzed into packlands and were approached by the alpha pair. Well to put it lightly they weren't happy. They attacked - though maybe we provoked it - and together we killed the female. The male left however was enraged and killed my mother. I deserted her and fled, surviving only by sheer luck. I lived alone for years before I found my mate.
She smield softly at the mention of him. His name I will not utter for it is mine alone to remember and I will leave this world with his name on my dying breath. But it was love at first sight for us and we quickly formed a pack. We took in two other wolves and made them our betas and it was shortly after this my pups were born. Here her face darkened and she grew more serious. Four of them in all, two boys and two girls. She let her head droop and pressed her nose between her paws. It was when the pups were walking about that it happened...my mate...was killed. She faltered but continued on despite it. He was slain by hunter's wanting to use his pelt to keep him warm. His beautiful pelt! They cut him down in his prime and tore my heart from my body. I went to find him and saw his skinless form lying bloodied upon the ground.
She gritted her teeth to let the sadness pass and then continued again, Then when I return I find my pack has turned on me. The Beta's try to kill me, my pups turn on me or abandon me altogether. It is those wolves that I search for now. My own children. The betas can rot in hell...but Iwill not let my evil spawn roam this world any longer. They are traitor's to their own mother and defile their father's name.
She was on her feet then, face filled with rage. I will revel in their deaths. Her teeth clipped together and locked, but I warn you now River, tell anyone of this and you shall become the hunted too. It is my story to tell, not yours.

Truth be told River was expecting worse and had in a way wished that it was worse, she now felt saddened. The female in front of her had everything taken away from her... and her own children... her own.
"I won't tell Ren, I assure you of that." She paused, her eyes looking at the ground to keep her own tears at bay, her heart was crying for Ren and River couldn't show what she was feeling to Ren in case she insulted her.
Once she pulled herself together she looked up and smiled. "I am with you till the end Ren. Your children are harsh to turn against their own mother who brought them up and birthed them, its unfair, its wrong. I won't leave you before your deeds are done." She looked serious as she finished what she was saying. From what she had heard, River believed that Ren had a right to do what she wished, she had however forgotten that there are more then one side to every story.

Something happened this day, something which Ren did not expect and as she stared into River's own eyes she knew somehow everything would work out.
For in her soul she believed her children were evil, her memories were broken and distorted so that she remembered only what she wanted to. She could see their little faces staring back at her, the taunting looks from her betas. They had put her to shame and she would make them pay.
When my deed is done I can lay down to rest. She replied quietly, I will return to the place of my mate's death and part ways with this world. You can see I am old River and I am tired of this life. I want nothing more than to die and join my mate in the stars. She sounded weary now and with a small sigh she up-turned her eyes once more to the sky, wishing it was night again.
But until I have brought justice on those who have wronged me I cannot rest my tired body. I run on only my need for vengeance and nothing else.
Then with that she turned her head to the north and gazed out across the trees. We will rest until our stomachs are eased and then head due north. Instinct tells me that is the way to go.

River nodded and listened.
"I understand." She then rested her head back on her paws as she rested. This is seemed to be turning into something that River didn't expect but yet she was fine with it. She would rest untill Ren said otherwise.

Ren shifted and lowered herself onto the ground once more, rolling onto her side to lay on the grass. It brushed gently against her body and lulled her into sleep. It might not have been a good idea to sleep by a kill that could attract other wolves but at that time she didn't seem to care.
The sounds of the birds overhead went unheard as she dipped into asound sleep.
And for the first time ever Sirena was not haunted by nightmares or visions of her deceased love. Instead she dreamed she had wings as white and beautiful as that of a dove, and with them she flew through the clouds.
She was light and she was free.
And her destination? The stars.
