Doctor_Strange
A very good thing to keep in mind especially if you practice a martial art: in a real fighting situation do not expect things to work out the same way as they did when you practiced them! and do not stop to think how to apply a paticular technique if the move does not come quickly and naturally do not use it! 2 seconds are all it takes to be seriously injured

Quote:
Allow your opponent to walk away with dignity. If that fails, allow them to initiate their own means of defeat.

Jimesu_Evil
The most useful tip for ANY martial artist. When faced with a real fight... RUN!

that might work for some people, but for stocky out of shape guys like me that can be a problem. its not that i have somthing to prove but turning your back on an opponent is somthing i try to avoid. so its even better for me to avoid situations where i know there will be a fight, showing off and telling people what i can do.

ounce of prevention=pound of cure.

I dunno if this is wisdom for fighting but when you get angry it means you feel out of countrol of your enviroment or things aren't going the way you want it to do. So remember that when your opponent starts getting mad which will also mean they'll probably become reckless with there punches and kicks and etc.

No, do it at the beginning, and continue with it through the fight, without losing your own concentration and focus of course. ^_^

i can understand not losing your concentraition. but does POing your opponent really work? i would think it would just make him more agressive.

more aggresive but he'll be reckless and I was really just saying that for people to know

ok, i guess that works, maybe ill try that somtime.

this isnt so much a word of wisdom as it is my own personal matto, but i think its good.
Born in the flesh
steel courses through my viens
it rips the flesh from my bone
renewing me to my core
for the flesh does not matter
it is just a vessel for my soul
and through all the pain that life has put onto me
by force of will i am stronger than you.

what it means to me is that the pains that you have in life should only make you stronger, and that the body is only a tool of the mind.

My Shihan says something similar to this all the time:
"Karate comes from here," -points to his heart- "and here," -points to his head- "This is a small part of it." -holds up fists.-

You are 50% of what you are in training, during real life encounters. So if you do not give yourself to training and do not train diligintly, then you will have no chance in an encounter, it does not matter how much skill is developed if you cannot last at least 3 mintutes without gasping for air, then baby revauleate what you need to do.
