Compassion shone in Shane's eyes and his nature won out over manners. Reaching his arm out he placed an arm around her far shoulder and brought her closer for a hug. It didn't even register with him that he'd done it until it was over. No time to take it back now... "Would frighten anyone lass," he commented leaning his head on top of hers, "there's real fear in dreams like that, so tis no wonder you're still shook up about it."
Rubbing her back, he kept his gript. "Can't say as to why you've got it, but I can tell you, that I'm here to listen to you girly. So, if you're in need of an ear, feel free to use mine. It hears nearly as well as my mouth speaks."

Moira froze in something very close to pure shock when she felt his arm wrap around her and pull her into a hug. Numbly, her arms wrapped around him to return it. She tensed in the hug for a few seconds, before relaxing a little. She'd seen his eyes before the physical action, and it almost made her heart thump harder.
Almost.
She smiled a little, and let her head rest against his chest, listening to him talk quietly. He was reassuring her, and it felt nice to be reassured by someone. She nodded a little silently, sniffing a little. "Thank you, Shane." She muttered, glancing up at him after a few minutes. She was hesitant about pulling away from the hug. Damned if he wasn't comfortable.

There was shock there, oh yes, but also a sense of comfort and acceptance. It made Shane glad that the girl hadn't jerked back offended. That would've been... not so good. It pleased him entirely when she hugged him back, twas like having a piece of home back almost, which made him a little more homesick than he was before. Still, he held her and resisted the urge to pet her hair.
"Tis what I'm here for Moira." He replied calmly, content with just being there. A nagging in the back of his mind kept telling him that he was holding on a wee too long, but he couldn't think of a good reason to let go. Could offer her my room... no monsters under the bed there...
...You're a dog Shane... a down right shameful dog...
"Guess the neither of us will be sleeping much tonight then."

She snorted a little, and shook her head. "I'm surprised anyone can sleep." She mumbled softly, her head pillowed against his chest silently. She was staring at a tree off to the side, for lack of anything else to watch, and smirked a little.
This was nice. Really nice.
Was she the only one feeling that it shouldn't be happening like this? They were here for LOTUS, and... Very clearly, more.
No more thinking.
Moira shrugged a little, and looked up. "You can call me Moi if y'want." She muttered sheepishly. She was used to being called Moi. Moira sounded insanely formal.

"Moi?" He murmured more to himself than to her, "I like it, tis cute. Can't rightly shorten my name really." He mused. It was hard to not say about how she fit... just fit right there... Tis proof Shane, you've not had yourself a girl for... well let's not go into that... He smiled at the thought.
"So," not changing their position at all, "why'd you join Lotus Moi?"

Moira relaxed a little more against him when he'd used her nickname instead of the full one, and she grinned a little at his question, shrugging innocently. "For the adventure." She smirked at him a little, and then relaxed. "And... Well. I just wanted to be able to help stop Janus."
She remembered her interview with Wraith and grinned a little. "What about you?" She glanced up. "Why'd you join Lotus?" She asked with a curious smile. She still couldn't quite get over how nice it felt to be settled in against Shane, but she didn't question it. She did inwardly thank whatever God was listening for keeping him from moving her out of his arms, though.

"Ah adventure is it?" Grinning he looked down at her, there was still much to find out about this new lass, so much he didn't know. "You've a good heart in you to want to stop Janus, tis a grand goal to be sure."
Frowning a little, he thought of how best to word his answer, "I didn't have much of a life waiting for me anywhere else. Twas the best place for me at the time so I signed on and the decided to have me. I'm not the sort that would be driven for adventure, I like it just as well as any other, but only if it finds me I guess." It was the truth, through and through, and it was a complete answer. So it would have to do. "Don't think Wraith liked me very much though, I'm actually surprised I was accepted on."

Moira listened to his answer, and frowned curiously. Mysterious man, Shane seemed to be sometimes. Of course, she doubted she was an open book herself, but it was refreshing to have a mystery lied out before her. She smiled up at him, amused at his last comment about Wraith, and shrugged.
"I didn't really get a feeling for Wraith liking me or not at the interview." She admitted sheepishly. "At first, I don't think he was overtly confident with me, but... In the end, I got here, right?" She grinned a little, and closed her eyes, amusement in her smile.

"All you had to do was hypnoize him with those clever hands of yours and that deck." Shane joked, but somberly finished, "Aye, we both got here in the end, so it would seem there's something worth keeping in the both of us."
Looking up at the stars again, he began to notice all the differences... you couldn't see this pattern from Ireland, and where was that constellation, and why did that look upside down? It never really hit him how much the night sky differed from place to place.
"I'm glad you got here," he said casually, "You're a good lass."

Moi smiled a little and nodded. It was sweet, sort of, what he'd said. She glanced up at the sky, at the stars for a minute or two, before closing her eyes again. She shifted a little, and realized with a slightly agitated grumble that she was wearing a tanktop, and it was very clearly getting colder out.
She looked at him after a minute, and grinned a little. "I'm glad to have met you, Shane. You're a real friend." Moi said after a few minutes, grinning up at him.

"Ah, you're kind with your words." Feeling goose bumps on her arms, he felt some of his own appear in return. "And you're going to freeze out here, I just realized." Mentally cursing himself, he drew away from her slowly. "I'll be right back love. Don't go no where."
Racing back toward the building, he sprinted down the hallway and crashed into his rooms. Drawing the blanket off his bed, he took it and ran back toward the garden. It was a bit silly actually, but he wanted to spend more time talking with her.
Arriving back in the clearing, a little out of breath, he presented her with the comforter. "And here's the cure to keep a body warm, aside from a strong pull of whiskey that is. But I'm not thinking that's what this night needs."

She blinked when she felt him get up, and laughed a little. She watched him sprint off to go to his room, and she sat up, hugging herself comfortably. When he returned with the comforter, her eyes gleamed.
"Aw." She took the comforter from him so he could sit, and then, after steeling herself with the thought that if he was comfortable enough to hold her before, he would be now, she situated herself back in his arms, and wrapped the comforter around both of them.
Significantly warmer, she looked up. "Thank you." Moi smiled at him. "Now." Her eyes gleamed. "You said you were full of tales. Care to indulge?" She asked with an innocent if not impish look in her eyes.

Raising an eyebrow as she settled in against him, he let his arms come around her again and felt the blanket fall upon them both. It was... nice to have someone want to be with him, and it lifted his spirits after missing home so much.
"You're welcome lass." He replied with a smile and looked up toward the stars. "Aye, and so I did, are there any type of tales you're fond of? I've a great many to choose from, so I'd like to tell you something you'd like to hear."

She smiled a little when she felt his arms wrap around her, and closed her eyes a little, relaxing against him. She blinked curiously when asked what sort of tales, and smirked a little, looking up at him.
"Childhood tales?" She asked innocently, eyes gleaming. "I'll share mine if you share yours." She offered in a sort of sing-song voice.

Shane smirked at her tease and shifted a little settling into the blanket comfortably. "Alright then," he began. There were few things in his life that brought him great joy, telling tales, writing music, and cooking, happened to be them. "A tale from me childhood?"
Pondering which tale to tell, he settled on one he thought would amuse her. "When I was a young lad about 7 or so, I was out in our fields playing with my brother and sister. Let's see here... Aidan would've been 8 and Breena would've been 6. Anyhow, as all good kids from County Clare could, we were climbing trees. Now, Aidan liked to think he was the king of the tree and climb higher than was safe. A bit of a fool was our Aidan. Breena's back on the ground this day, screaming at him to come down before he breaks his neck, but myself, being as much a fool as my brother, had pegged this the day that I would climb higher than he.
"He's already a fair ways up when I start to reach the danger zone. There's Aidan, clinging to a flimsy branch hollaring at me to go back down that I was too heavy and what not. And of course I'm thinking he only wants the tree to himself, so I keep going. Didn't take long for the tree to start leaning to one way." Shane demonstrated such with his hands. "Now he's screaming, and I swear to god I think he was crying, and I'm freaking out wondering what to do, and Breena's on the ground yelling about how she'd tell ma on us. Which WAS a large threat back then. When suddenly, there was a thick cracking noise, and it didn't take a genius to say Aidan and I were in for a fall." Shane paused for dramatic effect. "Imagine yourself in my shoes, if I held on any longer that entire part of the branch would fall right on me. So I did the only logical thing, I jumped off the cursed thing. Never have I hit the ground so hard as I did that day, but I can't say the day wen any better for Aidan, with the loss of my weight, the tree snapped back a bit and it sent him flying. I'd wager he was in the air a good 5 seconds before he hit the ground. Turned out he broke his left arm in two places and cracked two ribs. The boy-o's skull is thick as anything though, so his turnip of a brain was left intact. I got grounded for a month after that, but never again did Aidan rule the trees."
Shane sighed, a grin on his face. It'd been a while since he'd told that particular tale. "Well? Have I bored you yet?"
