With a grin, the cubling couldn't help but peer up at the sky once more, at a little passing, rare cloud as it ran across before he decided that it would be good to follow his newest friend. She would definitally be a great companion possibly in the future, when he was bigger and stronger - and his legs weren't so stubby.
Only then - though. With a soft you're welcome, he hadn't realized that in passing the cloud, it had been more than a moment after she had answered him with a thank you. Catching his timing, he lept in the air in a heartbeat, and flapped his wings, doing a momentum push-spin in the air and flew into the thicket.
It was like the music had stopped.
Flying through the trees for a moment, his mismatched eyes flew around the thick of it, attempting to recapture the view of the little blue cub he had come to recognize as Ekevu, his brow furrowing ever so slightly more when she did not come up.
Landing on a soft, worn out patch of grass, his tail flared out slowly behind him, as he did a turn once before.
"Ekevu?" he called out, unsure why there was so much silence.

She had been heading through the jungle, following the path she knew to home in silence, when that very aspect of the trip disturbed her. Wheeling around in a panic, ears on alert for any signs of her friend, desperately hoping to hear from her friend. Smile fading, she sat like this for some time, unable to pick up a trace of his voice, or scent. Not a single, solitary aspect of him remained.. except her memories.
"J..Jamala?" She cried softly at first, waiting a moment to hear if he responded.
"JAMALA!!" Forcing a great deal of air into the cry, Ekevu waited for a response from the other for some time. A great and sudden pain overtook the cub's body, as she truly realized that he way gone, and just as she had been earlier, she was alone.
And for the first time in her life, stricken over the loss of her first friend, Ekevu broke down and cried.
