littlefiction kaze no sakura Sesshoumaru isn't a so-called "bad-boy". He is a person who can be as compassionate as his father, yet he tends to push it out of view by putting on a cold mask and pretending that he isn't a nice person. I would prefer having a nice person as opposed to a man who is cruel down to the very core of his heart. Sesshoumaru appeals to me as an anime male character because it is obvious that he is not like that at all. I agree that he is much kinder than he lets on, but I don't agree that he is "not like that at all", which is wonderful, since I love a good debate. We've seen him rip the head off a guy for simply being in his way. The way he treats Rin and Jaken is definitely proof that he's kinder than he wants people to think, but he can be pretty bad when the occassion calls for it--though he seems to be softening up quite a bit since he met Rin. Still, I have to agree, the fact that he's not the bad boy he pretends to be makes him an awesome character. Oh, but that doesn't fully answer the question. For anime/manga characters, I like both--bad boys and nice guys--but for real boys it's all nice guys. I agree with you both. He says he doesnt like or love anyone, but when you see how he is with Rin. you can see his actions seem to disagree with what he says

Sesshoumaru's personality? I like that he has elements of both. I love the glares and the smirks and the arogant one liners, the weapons and the blood and the claws and the cold hearted strategies, and I especially love the apparent inability to even understand motivations of compassion and affection--but I also adore seeing a cold hearted killer rush over to save the little human pup 4laugh

I love the mysterious, cold-hearted kind of boys because it gives us [girls] a chance at warming their hearts and falling in love. :3

For anime/manga characters, I like both--bad boys and nice guys--but for real boys it's all nice guys. You're right on the fact that Sesshoumaru ripped some random guy's head off because he didn't move out of the way fast enough, but that was way back in the day when he was pompous and selfish. Not to say that I think Sesshoumaru is a complete nice guy like Inuyasha. More like, he does what he thinks that he has to do. But I really can't see Sesshoumaru as a total softie. That's just so... uh... wrong! Thus, that's why Takahashi decided to add in that Meidou Zangetsuha arc to change him for the better. I think I like Sesshoumaru now much more than I did before. Sometimes there were parts where I wanted to slap him across the face. Yes, Rin and Jaken contributed a great deal to bring change to Sesshoumaru, but I think Kagura's death was the actual trigger that got him thinking, "Hmm... was the way I've been acting up until now really the right way?"

I love the bad boys but they still have to be somewhat mature so not SO bad/stupid to do things that will forever hurt there record =/ or life..... like dirnk themselfs to death or smoke 5 packs a day and stuff like that
As for Sesshomaru he's just himself. He fights people who are annoying and that in his way, just like people do irl, he's just more serious, strong, and annoyed easier.

I would want him to have both qualities, some self control but still a rebel in his own way. I like my men balanced. XD
