“I-I’m not sure exactly how it works,” stammered Branwan, “I-I mean, I haven’t studied it in school or anything and…” her voice trailed off hopelessly.
Her heart melted when he started crying and, after a moment’s hesitation, she wrapped her arms around him comfortingly, “it’s okay,” she murmured softly, almost to quiet to hear, no, she thought, it most certainly is not okay, he is trapped on an island and will never see his family again. But sometimes it is a good thing to hear.

Feeling like his heart was hit with a sledgehammer, Erik hugged her as hard and long as he could, letting it all out, because he knew from previous experience that holding it in would only make things worse. Even though he knew that things wouldn't be alright, he still found the sentiment comforting.
Once he got all calmed down a few minutes, he asked her, "What kind of sick, twisted mind...would do something like this."

Branwan released Erik from her grasp, “Moreau,” she said, an amazing amount of venom injected into those two syllables.
“He’s an utter scumbag, I mean, he is doing this to more then sixty people, it’s horrible,” her face contorted in fury and a wave of murderous thoughts flowed through her, he had no right to do this to this boy!

"Moreau..." It suddenly hit him, he was the one who picked him up at the helipad, he was the one who gave him the injection, he was the one responsible for all this. Something inside Erik's mind snapped, his sorrow quickly burst into anger and burning hatred. Quickly standing up, his hands tightened into fists, making popping sounds. Breathing heavily and angrily, he suddenly remembered that he wasn't alone in the room, there was a young lady right next to him, looking at her, her uncomfortable expression made him realize that he had to calm down. Taking a deep breath, he sat back down, "Sorry 'bout that."
"Sooo...", he started, "...you said there were 60 people here, anyone interesting?" At that moment he was really trying to change the subject.

Branwan smiled softly, “it’s alright,” she said, “everyone feels like that at one time or another”
“Oh,” she said, “I’ve met a few of them. Lets see… there’s Edward… he’s nice but a bit of a tease, aaaand there’s Justin, he’s cool, likes to fish… he was only catching boots when I met him… and there’s, um,” she clicked her tongue in thought, “Allison, she’s in to gymnastics, aaand, that’s about it.”

"They sound very nice.", Erik said. "Hmmm...fishing," he thought, "I wonder if they got anything good in those rivers."
Noticing Branwan's small ((feathered?)) tail he asked her,"So...what are you turning into?"

“I wouldn’t know,” said Branwan shrugging, “Justin was only catching boots when I saw.”
She fallowed his eyes to her tail ((not feathered)) “I don’t know, I’m something that eats raw meat,” she shuddered at the memory, “and doesn’t weigh very much.” She looked at her features, “and has less fingers, claws, a long toe, and a tail,” she sighted, “it’s pretty perplexing.”

"I have no idea.", he chuckled. "I have a couple books back at my duplex, I'll take a look later and let you know if I find anything." All sorts of possibile creatures ran through his mind, but then a an important thought hit him, "I wonder what I'm gonna turn into."
After a few minutes of thought, he asked Branwan, "so how'd a girl like you end up in a hellhole like this?".

“I don’t know, you could be turning into anything,” said Branwan, thinking, “an’ the only way to find out at this point is to wait, unless you want to call the ‘Good Doctor’” She said those last two words with a sneer.
She furrowed her brows at his language but said nothing, “They said it was a gymnastics tournament, hah,” she gave an angry, mirthless, bark of laughter, “whadda bout you?”

"Eh, I think I will call that b*****d, the waiting and wondering would drive me nuts if this place doesn't."
"Well I left Chicago on a student ambassador trip to New Zealand, landed in Florida, and these guys picked me up, saying that they would take me to my next flight, so I got on the helicopter. I've been on a couple trips before, so I didn't think of it.".

“I da’know,” she said hesitantly, “sometimes it’s best not to know, I mean, what if ya’ turn into a, uh, Madagascar Hissing Cockroach?” It was the first icky thing that came to her mind; her step-dad had had one before he had become her step-dad.
“Student ambassador,” Branwan raised her eye brows, “What’s that? They didn’t ‘ave those at our school.”

The disturbing image of those insects made him a little uneasy, "Good point, but I'll take my chances."
"Well it's not something you sign up for at school, you have to join on the internet and then you get a packet. It's really fun, you get to travel all over the world. For instance, I've been to Brazil, Mongolia, Cameroon, really exotic places."

“heh, yeah, that would be cool, except for the shots,” Branwan rubbed her arm reflectively, “the real shots I mean, my step-dad had ta get, like, twen’y when he went to Ecuador,” she shuddered at the thought. "anyway, no chance I'll be doing that any time soon."

"Yeah, but you'd get used to them." Looking at Branwan's injection mark, he glanced at his own.
"So Branwan, where'd you live before all of this?".

“I don’t think I could,” Branwan said softly looking at the floor, “I’m afraid of needles.” Her stomach momentarily froze at the thought.
“Oh, I lived in Brookline, that’s just outside a’ Boston,” She gazed reflectively at nothing, “an’ you?”
