Uzushi's eyes widened, for never before had he been physically wounded. His neck burned and automatically he tried to jerk away, only finding that the flesh tore further.
His high-pitched yelp still rattled in his skull but now he remained still, cowered down, tail between his legs and large ears flattened back.
Oh, my love... Kalpana's own voice was strained as if she too was hurt by the wound. I'm so sorry I could not protect you. So very sorry.
Only one thing was certain, when Twawa released her grip he would be off like the wind.

Once she was content she let go.
"Let that teach you a lesson, dont mess with me." She snarled and growled more as she turned to lay down and lick at her maw to get it clean.

The moment she released him he was off, moving as fast as he could until the pain became too much. Satisfied he was far enough away he stood, legs trembling as he turned to stare at the bloodied mess on his fuzzy neck, blood had begun to trickle down one foreleg and the wound was open to the elements from where fur had been torn away.
He whimpered non-stop, lowering himself and shuffling forwards to hide, too upset and distraught to start cleaning the wound.
I'm sorry dear one.
"It's okay Kalpana...you ddi try to warn me."
Rest now.
"Okay..."
I love you Uzushi... She whispered as he fell asleep, feeling her own consciousness being swept into darkness where she could share in his dreams and still the nightmares.
