Well the whole thing is that if you want to increase your abilities you can do little exercises. But if you're supposed to know something you'll really get it and it'll be to where you can't ignore it. But yes it's a really big nagging feeling inside you.

Believe me, I know how that goes. I wish there was a better word for it than nagging, though...

It's more like a pull towards something. I remember when I was younger I would have that feeling about something and I would ignore it and later it'd happen and I'd be kicking myself in the butt (not literally of course) so from after so many times I started just listening to that feeling. For some reason I always have this nagging feeling about John Kennedy's death and I'm practically obsessed with it and have been researching it for several years. Whenever I have freetime that is what I'm working on and I'm even thinking of changing my major next term to law so I can get the real killers.
oddly cool.

Yes I enjoy it and it is very weird. I don't understand it but I can't ignore it. From how you've talked in this thread you know what I mean. But what is weird is it's only him I'm drawn to like this and not the others (as in RFK and JFK Jr). neutral

Now that's even weirder. =)

As I get this gift of mine more developed, though, it seems to have leaned more towards being a mouthpiece of sorts. Your gift is more like a knowledge of certain things.

=) I personally think that it would be neat if something actually came of this JFK nagging of yours. =)

Hmm I never thought of that. I seem to just get information more then see vision's. I've only had a few handful of vision's and most of that is with my personal life. Sometimes I'll just out of the blue "know" something. Know what I mean? Like for example when John Karr said he killed JonBonet Ramsey I just knew he didn't and he was covering for someone else (I believe the mother did it and learn towards her). But yes I am more about information then talking considering only in the past several years have I become unshy (still am sometimes). But the whole JFK nagging thing is really strange and the thing is even though I'm obsessed with it it doesn't get boring or annoying or anything. But perhaps next term I can try to get my major changed. I was going to this term but something kept holding me back and I know it wasn't just me being nervous. And yes it would be neat if I could be the one to solve the case. blaugh Then perhaps the nagging feeling will be gone. I have no idea the source of it but it doesn't feel like it's from within me.

I definetly know how that goes. It's quite annoying.

But clearly you have the gift of prophecy. It's meant to be used in the community of Christ. If you solved the JFK case, that would be awesome. But it would mean nothing if you didn't take that ability and use it in the Kingdom of Christ.

Encourage others in the faith. Speak truth where others are afraid to. Prophecy is a gift that not many people have. And not many people are as confident in it as you are, myself included. It's a wonderful gift. I'm sure you're using it in your church. But if not, don't deprive them of your gift and then deprive God of it in the process.

=)

I'd like it known that psychic abilities =/= prophecy.

You train to develop prophecy different from psychic abilities.

They "feel" very similar, it seems, but they are in two different realms: one appears to be a part of you (psychic) while the other is God-inspired (prophecy).

As a person with prophetic gifts's faith matures, and becomes more in-tune with what God says, this person is given more by God. You can't "practice" your prophecy. Look at the prophets of the Bible: They basically lived out ordinary lives, close to the Lord - but, when the time came that God needed a message carried out, God spoke through them. You know. Prophecy.

One that comes to mind immediately is Ezekiel - he was given instructions by God to prophecy about the fall of Jerusalem. He didn't predict it - he was told by God.

At any rate, I believe that psychics can be Christians, as long as they serve God as their One and Only. They probably have more of an inclination to be prophets, but being psychic does not necessarily mean you will have that prophetic gifting. You see, prophecy isn't just "telling the future" - it's sort of speaking on behalf of God. It may involve foretelling the future, but it's not just that.

(psst. keep that in mind, sissy-poo. wink )

There can be Christian Psychics.....weren't there prophets in the Bible? I don't know about the whole tarot card thing...but there can be Christian psychics. If God shows someone something...or gives them a gift like that, then they should use it for God.

Hmm. Kinda surprised more people didn't go on the psychic stuff is bad tangent.
Actually, I'm really surprised.
Are people simply holding their tongues? Do they not care? Or do people agree with the viewpoint that it's ok?
Me? I'm not sure what my opinion is. I belive that prophecy = am good, of course. But I try to stay away from pychic stuff, as its a subject too close to me for me to form an unbiased opinion on it.
Anybody have New Testament thougts for/against?

Well, it's pretty hard to say something is a sin when it doesn't exist. I mean, I tried in my first post, but no one responded, so I didn't bother posting again.

Okay, let's pretend for a moment that it does, or could. If it *did* exist, would it be wrong?

Yes. It's idolatry. To seek empowerment through means not of God is a sin.
