I'm not surprised by anything that people do to other people anymore. And yes the numbers of what happens is great. Like with my birth father. He came from an bad home. His father beat him and his brothers and sisters. (and there are a lot of them) Because they didn't do something, and he took a lot of the beating. So to him the older child should take all the blame. Hence growing up even if my blood brother was the cause of something. e.g. One time he stole my gameboy and tried to sell it back to me. I was in the wrong because of the fact, I had gotten upset over it. I was punish for getting upset. My brother however got to keep my gameboy and didn't get in trouble for anything.
My mother didn't do crap about it either. I can go further in this example as well. My brother once took a knife to me, my uncle didn't want a boy to seem weak at all, claimed that at first I had the knife and I was taken it at my brother who he threw a phonebook at him. Hence making the boy look stronger then girl. (after all girls aren't strong and aren't smart in his mind) However years later, he finally told my parents the truth. It was I who had hit my brother with the phonebook to remove the knife from him.
People who are raised to believe this is right don't tend to understand that's its wrong. My birth dad has worked hard on trying to change his way but even though he's not as bad as his father was to him. Its still pretty bad... and we don't know the fully story or background in everything to be sure.
