"We're bettin' fo' tha'." Alec muttered low in response to her threats of a visit from the Doctor, personally. He didn't want to say much more in fear that'd she'd become frantic about their plan. Syring in hand, he looked to Tommy, then back to his hostage before gently tugging her in a direction to drift away from the duplex she'd emerged from. He didn't even want to entertain the idea that either Ambrose or Angelina were home. "This way."

He silently wondered how long it would take for a response from Moreau, having a strong feeling to 'get this over with'.

Tommy just smiles at Aubrey and her cliched threat. All the while his mind warred with itself at what he was doing. "We'll see, ma'am...we'll see."

As they began walking, Tommy calls out in his bellowing command voice he saves for calling out orders in parades and threatening a mad doctor with his lover's life.
"MOREAU! YOU HAVE FIFTEEN MINUTES TO GET DOWN HERE BY YOURSELF! AND I THINK WE ALL KNOW THE CONCEQUENCE IF YOU DON'T!"

"What's in here," she asked, keeping her voice steady, nonaccusing. "How can I believe its toxic enough to kill me before I hit the ground? I am a medical doctor, I know my chemistry."

She also knew what was realistic and what wasn't...and god help them if she caught them in a bluff.

Moreau was furious to say the least. He couldn't believe those brats would do something like this. It hadn't taken long for the man he had on the "Aubrey-cam" in his own personal lab to shout for him. They hadn't seen this comming, how could he have such incompetitent help.

They were all useless, each and every one of them. Moreau stared at the situation trying to think of a way to handle it. His brain racing over different senarios. He had to give them credit, this was smart, his normal methods of buzzing them down turned against him.

They seemed to be waiting for him right now though, he rushed to his cabnit and pulled their files as he continued to think. Pacing around he room angerly. He headed downstairs towards the jeep, radio in hand. He'd have to work out a solution on the way.

Alec unfortunately, as overly-trusting as it seemed, had little idea what exactly was in the syringe he was currently using as a weapon. He remembered that air in itself was harmful in a syringe, but it definetly wasn't light enough or clear enough to be air. Unable to give an answer, he remained silent.

It was always the wait that was worst of all.

Tommy grins wryly, "Why ma'am, If I tell you, then it wouldn't be a surprise. Besides, I'd be more worried about your crazy sonofabitch friend getting here in...oh...say about fourteen minutes now." He inspects his watch before looking around, "Come now, doctor! Time's a'wastin'!"

"What surprise," Aubrey said, puffing her chest a bit. "Either I find out when you fail or I never find out because I'm dead. But there's only a limited number, of any substances, somelike like you could get your hands on that would be lethal. And your refusing to answer does nothing but indicate that this but a ruse... and if there were case, I'd hate for you to think I was this complaicent."

An idea started forming in Moreau's mind. But was it possible... theoretically it should be, if he had a clear understanding of the technology. Moreau flipped open the cell phone-like radio. "Yes, I need the supervisor of the programing teams. And anyone who is on that team and off right now... I need them on duty... five minutes ago."

Moreau drove towards the location that Alec and Tommy were at right now. He only hoped it could be done, and also could be done in time.

Alec paid little attention to the bickering that was quietly going on between Aubrey and Tommy, more focusted on the scenery infront of him. He was expecting a jeep to pull up at any moment as many scenarios played in his mind of how this ordeal would end. To foresee a death was sinister enough without already having fearful doubts of one's own demise.

Despite his distraction, the teen still had a firm grip on the syringe partially submerged in Aubrey's neck. Having poor hearing, he was mostly unawares of the oncoming jeep until it came into view, uttering in a low tone. "'ere we go..."

Tommy chuckles at Aubrey's comment, though it is obviously there is no humor in it. (Whether from his hate for the island or for himself is debatable) However, his smirk persists, "I wouldn't be so rash to think this is a ruse, Dr. Lockheart. If you look at this through a behavioral science standpoint, ma'am, you'd have to take into account the animals we are becoming. A shark and a vampire bat. Mix those with the behavior of most criminals on death row...which, is what this place is...and you get...well, you do the math."

Tommy keeps his eyes on the road ahead of him. He stays close enough to Alec and Aubrey to help his shark accomplice in case anything goes awry, but far enough away to let Moreau know he is the one to talk to.

As Moreau drives up, Tommy traces the outline of the other object in his pocket: a shiv. Crude, yes...functional? You'd better believe it. .oO(Holy hell...) Blood pounds at Tommy's ears as his heartrate begins to rise and butterflies begin to raise havoc in his stomach.

"I know both of you, at least used to be, sane, decent individuals, not crimials." She glanced back the best she could to Alec. "Good kids. And dont' get me started on your animals. Animals don't take people hostage."

Her rant was cut off, and perhaps very fortunately for her, as the Jeep came up. Despite everything that has happened, and the circumstances, Aubrey found herself nearly elated to lay eyes on Moreau for the first time in weeks. "Nick!" she cried out as he approached, throwing him a desperate, pleading look.

Moreau had taken care of what he'd wanted to on the way. Threatening to put them on the other side of the fence or worse. Even as he approached the group he was getting the final confirmation while he was still out of their hearing range "So it's taken care of... excellent. This had better work, for your sake as well."

Moreau shut down the jeep and stepped out. "You wanted to see me?" he said putting on a smug air of confidence. Of course... if this didn't work, that was all going to change.

Alec stared numbly at Moreau, the hand that held the syringe was nearly shaking. A quick jerk was made to Aubrey's stomach to tell her to quiet down for fear of attracting attention from Islanders that might just get in the way. The sound of his voice was painful enough, to see him face-to-face for the first time in a long time was almost surreal.

Aubrey's words had stung as was intended, he was sure, and he felt to need to comment just a little in a feeble attempt at justifying his actions. "A' joost w'neh go 'ome... Ye don' ge' tha'?... A' joost... w'neh go 'ome." He silenced himself when the Doctor spoke, grey eyes travelling to Tommy, the man in charge.

Zach wandered back from the field, hatless and flustered. He hardly looked where he was going until the distinctive sound of a car engine broke the silence. In every case, that was a bad sound, a very bad one. And tracing the sound to where it was coming from, there was no doubt that something bad was happening.

He moved slowly, quietly, though his tail wouldn't stop swishing across the ground and kicking up dirt. He ended up some good feet away from the spectacle. Two people who looked completely unfamiliar (islanders, by the look of them), and two who were sadly familiar from three months before. It was a damn good thing they were off by the low number duplexes - he could make a getaway to his own without being stopped. But there was something off about what was going on that seemed strangely off to him... and the grey pointy-faced guy was sticking a needle in Aubrey's neck.

He inched closer, curiousity overriding any other more sensible thoughts.

Infinite Improbability

The day was young and silent... well, mostly. Yawning loudly, she got up from her bed and went about her morning routine - which was just going to the bathroom, waking herself up, and checking on the constantly brighter splotches over her skin.

She sighed upon seeing that the areas were brighter still, standing out in a bright green against the rest of her dark green and black scales. But ah well, nothing she could do about it... wasn't like she was going to contact the staff or anything.

The reptile opened up her door and peeked out, squinting at the sudden change of light. As she stretched and flicked her tongue could have swore she heard someone scream.

Blinking her strange eyes, she went to get closer.
