"Would you like to hear a teaching story? I have one for you," and without waiting the usually shot answers that esacped her lips were oblitereated, "Long ago before Africa changed there was a wild dog, she was afraid of everyone and everything. One day a very sweet male wild dog came to her, and with his slippery tongue spun lies and fooled the young female. He raped her, and stole away her only child. The moral of this story is no to trust others, and to believe that even if there is good in the world it will not happen to you," another choked bark escaped her.

In truth the tale had happened to her, she was raped and her son. Kijicho would from that point on never be the same. She feared men and feared creatures larger than herself, it was scary living in a world where monsters lurked in the shadows.

Shaha's looked at her, his gaze filled with pity that he couldn't help.
"I'm sorry, Kiji. I can wish that life is all good and that shouldn't happen, but it does. I try to help others where I can, but unfortunately I cannot change the past. And words fall heavy upon the ground whence they came from a mouth unknown of the hardships suffered upon by others. All I can say is that my heart aches for you and the transgresions that were done against you. I am truly, very sorry..." he said, his deep voice soft and yet it carried an almost lyrical echo.

"It is alright, I should not have spoken so angrily," a slow smile swept across her maw. She was not sad, sadness was a thing of the past, but anger that she could not find the love of another was all that consumed her. "Things happen for a reason, and unfortunatly those things ahve happened to me," a little bit of pride filled her voice she had lived through something like that, she survived.

"Want to know a secret?"

Shaha smiled a little, too, though his heart still ached for her. His heart was going to be the death of him, if it continued to ache as it did for every sad story he heard. He nodded at her comments and tilted his head at her question.
"A secret? I do enjoy a good secret every now and again."

"I'm afraid to love again," she blushed and it was easily visible through her cream colored fur. Her eyes twinkled at the thought. "It's a secret, so please do not tell, do you think it is stupid?"

She hoped he didn't think she was stupid, he seemed nice and it had been a long time since she had talked to another, especially one of the male species.

Shaha's smile grew warmer and he tilted his head slightly to one side.
"It's alright to be afraid of something once you've been hurt. But you should remember that there's always a silver lining to the clouds in your life," he replied, his tone understanding and counciling.
"You just have to look out for it and embrace it when you find it. I have no doubt that you'll find love and I promise you I'll keep your secret till my dying day."

"I.. I know the world will get better, but as one ages.." a sigh rippled from within her. She wished there was a creature that truely understood her want not for another male, but a female. "The grass is always greener on the other side as they say..? Or is that the wrong one..hmm..." She could never remember her witty comments.

Shaha nodded and raised a paw to his temple.
"Aye, but only greener in our minds. It is mortal nature to want that which we do not have. Sometimes, I long for a home and an end to this wandering, for someplace where I could settle down and be content, but no matter how beautiful a place is, I always wonder what's just beyond that next hill? Will it be as beautiful as this or better?" he explained, letting the paw fall. He lifted his shoulders in a half-hearted shrug and tilted his head slightly.
"Sometimes, I wonder what it would be like to have a family. But I think about it and find that I don't want to press my wanderings onto another nor my children were I to have any. Someday, I might change my mind. Pehaps not."

"I am sure then that you must find another wandering spirit, someone that likes the idea of growing old while wandering. There are many out there with that sort of mentality, I think you just are not looking at the right girls," she was not all togetherh sur eif this was a true statement, but there wasn't anything better for her to say, "Ka like the wind," she whispered under her breath.

"I think that it is time for me to make my leave, I know that we have just met but you opened my eyes to something. I've grown far too bitter and untrusting, I'll most likely need to start looking for someone with my own feelings."

Her paws itched to start moving again, but she did not want to seem rude and rush their conversation, besides he was a lovely lion.

Shaha nodded and stood.
"You're very right, Kiji. Maybe someday, I'll find someone like that," he agreed and looked to to horizon. What would come from the future he knew not, but he would embrace it with an open mind and full heart. He nodded again and returned his look to her.
"I think I should be going as well. Perhaps we will meet again," he said and smiled. "Perchance by then both of us will have found what we were looking for, eh?"

"Perhaps, hopefully," her words were hollow and she stood and started off into teh direction she was willing heading. There was no need to prolong a good by, but then again there was no need to rush one. "Good luck, my new friend!"

"And to you, my friend!" Shaha called back as he turned and took off in a strong lope in the direction his paws, and his heart, took him.
