Quote: LaRocca he said the sites may be fine for high school students, but concern about younger students accessing them keeps them off-limits for everyone. So, what he's saying here is that he actually is anti-gay. He stabbed himself in the eye, here. By saying that he doesn't want the younger kids to see it, he's saying he's not okay with them knowing that it's okay. By allowing the anti-sites, he's also silenty saying that he waants them to believe that being homosexual is a bad thing. Now, I don't know how things have changed since I was a wee-young'un, but in my day, we were all very carefully monitored while on the computer. Usually, we were given a program to use that we couldn't exit out of or minimize or the like. Heck, I even took a HS test that did that (to prevent cheating, of course). Now, I don't know about you, but when I was a kid, all I wanted to do with a computer was play some games. I say that if you're old enough to want to search and read the internet, you're old enough to know what it means to be gay (because I'm sure that's a bit of what LaRocca meant by keeping it from the younger children, too). At my High School, THIS site was blocked. My district basically tried to block any site that wasn't school-related or was dangerous or porn. Basically, they only focused on the mainstream sites, such as Xanga or MySpace, but we all found ways around their blocking. Course, now I don't have to deal with blocks. YAY COLLEGE!

That's not very nice. Fortunately I can say that my School doesn't do anything like this. I wish the best to those who oppose this bias ^^

They block alot of things on my school's computers. The only thing that kind of made me appalled was that I go on wikipedia alot when I'm done with my assignments in my computer class & my favorite show like.. ever is Queer As Folk. & so I went on the Wiki page of it & was just reading & whatnot but then the next day I go on it & it was blocked. I was like "... wtf? Homophobic, much?" All my friends said that, too.
*tear* It's kind of depressing if you think about it.

During my last couple months in high school, I discovered that my school's server had such things blocked as well... I was using the computers to research for a project, and I realized that...
I brought it up to some of the teachers and to my ex girlfriend... The school was going through a lot of changes (including a new principal), though, so they ignored us... And now I'm out of the school... and the college I go to seemingly has no blocks, so there's nothing wrong in front of me. But I still have friends who go to the school, and they've said things have only gotten worse.... That makes me mad.

I was in our computer lab yesterday doing a French "travel" project for French class and found that Gay Travel France is blocked, yet wine-tasting isn't. -__-'

rubbermuleaccount I was in our computer lab yesterday doing a French "travel" project for French class and found that Gay Travel France is blocked, yet wine-tasting isn't. -__-' "YAY!! Let's support underage drinking!! It's better than homosexuality!!" Seriously, though... Drinking, in the wrong amount, can cause alcohol poisoning, especially in younger people... It naturally causes sluggish reflexes, dizzying vision, and the ability to make sound decisions, so there's danger there anyway... Especially since kids tend to make the stupidest decisions when it comes to alcohol, to go and get completely hammered, do stupid stuff, maybe get sick, and be hungover the next morning... Then, like my step-sister, use the throwing up to say you've got the flu and stay home from school... There's also the fact that the body chemistry of a young person is much different than an adult, and alcohol consumption MUST be done carefully... The point is, is homosexuality (without violent people who make judgements and mistreat people based on them) really dangerous? It's legal, it doesn't impair judgement, and there's no kind of poisoning or similar issue attached. Underage drinking is not legal, and not safe. Also, about the aforementioned idiots with their judgemental attitudes, the situations rising between them and homosexuals are people hurting people, not homosexuality... So... yeah. I've seen stuff like that before and thought of all this every time. It's ridiculous.
