"Yea...afterwards my parents kept trying to get me to go back in since they went to the ocean a lot...they are marine biologists." He said, sadly.

"Im not sure if climbing the mountain is such a good idea for me. I have fatal asthma--I'll get out of breath too easily." He said, he didnt like asthma. It always kept him from doing things that sounded fun--and made him sound like a geek.

“I want be a marine biologist when I grow up.” Said Branwan reflectively as she walked. She thought about this for a moment and the added, “When I get out of here,” she paused again, “If I get out of here.”

“That’s okay,” said Branwan kindly, “My dad had asthma, it was getting better when I saw him last, it can’t do that can it?” Her heart felt heavy at the mention of her father and for a moment she feared she would cry.

“Maybe we’ll, just walk,” she managed to force out.

"I wanted to study the plantlife in Hawaii--thats where I lived before here." He said, remembering the place he had called home for a few years.

"Well, it depends on how bad your asthma is. I remember when I was about 8 or 9 I went to the doctor because I had been getting really sick lately. Turns out I had asthma--fatal to top it off with. They predicted I only had about 20 years left. Which now, would be about 8 or 9." He told her, sadly.

"A walk sounds nice..." He said, a small smile forming on his face. He hadnt really talked about his asthma in a long time, and he wanted....no needed to take his mind off of it. For the past 11 years he's been living his shortened life happily, always looking on the bright side of things.

“I had a friend who went to Hawaii, is it nice?” She paused, “what are the plants like? The only one I know are palm trees.” She wrinkled her nose happily and smiled.

Her smile fell right off her face when she heard of his impending death, “oh,” was all she said.

Noticing his need to get off the subject she was only too happy to oblige, “so,” she said looking for something to talk about, “do you play any games?”

"Its very nice there, and the plants are beautiful. All different colors, shapes." He smiled happily thinking about them.

"Games? What do you mean by 'games'?" He asked, confused.

“Well, I don’t know, I guess ‘what do you do for fun’ sounds too clichéd,” she smiled in quiet amusement, “But... what do you do for fun?”

She closed her eyes and tilted her head up toward the sky as she walked, letting the sun warm her face.

"For fun...I usually take walks at night, listen to music, I am usually always with my friends, figuring out Sudoku, reading. How about you? What do you do for 'fun'?" He smiled, he hadnt remembered the last time he had such a good time with someone...especially since he came to the island.

Branwan grinned, “I’m no good at Sudoku, all those numbers, it drives me crazy,” she shook her head happily.

“I do gymnastics, Play on the computer, read,” she paused, thinking, the only sound was her feet hitting the earth, “Draw n’ pant n’ stuff, hang out with my friends or my teem I guess, talk, oh yeah,” she looked over to Edward with a smile, “I clime mountains.” She laughed, to show that there were no hard feelings that she wasn’t climbing this one.

She liked Edward, he was nice and her treated her like an equal, and not like a little kid.

"I like it...it gets you to think and is a good way to cure boredom." He said, smiling.

"Wow, gymnastics? Heh, I could never do that, Im no where even near flexible enough though I did have a friend that liked it. She was obsessed for that matter. But, I do love to read, whats your favorite book?" He asked, interested in what types of literature she was interested.

"And, sorry about not climbing the mountain...asthma can be a pain in the a** sometimes..."

“Yeah, I can stick my foot behind my head, not that that will help me much in life,” Branwan smiled, “anyway, I don’t know if I can still do it now.” By ‘now’ she meant ‘after her transformation.’

“Well, my favorite book…” she looked off into the distance, thinking, “It used to be the never ending story, but now… I’d have to say, Night watch? The Hogfather? Mort? Thud? Some Terry Pratchett book, there are too many to pick one,” she smiled, her eyes looking off into memory, “what books do you like?”

“And don’t worry about the mountain, by the time I leave here I probably will have climbed it five times.” She smiled jokingly.

"Wow, you're really flexible." He said, amazed that anyone could do that.

"Hmmm...dont think I've read any of those..but my favorite book is To Kill A Mocking Bird. Heh, probably sounds strange to you, but that was always my favorite one." He said.

"Alright! Heh, I wish I could join you because it sounds like a lot of fun." He smiled.

was, Was that flexible, I don’t think I am any more, I can possibly get that flexible again,” a small frown crossed her face.

“To Kill A Mocking Bird, I haven’t read it, is it good?” she looked up at him questioningly, “we watched the movie in school but I don’t know if it does the book justice, most don’t. My friends all thought it was boring, they said, ‘it’s black and white, and just a lot of people talking and stuff’ huh, not enough exploding space ships for them! I thought it was pretty good,” she shrugged as if to say ‘you can’t change people easy.’

“Oh no! You are not, I don’t want you to have a asthma attack, I am so not equipped to deal with that!’ She grinned to show she was joking.

Ed's smile faded a bit, not knowing what else to say on the subject.

"It's very good---and much better than the movie. Though, I do like black and white movies and they were pretty similar, the book is better." He said, thinking that he'd have to see if that was one of the books he brought with him. "I think I brought it with me, if you'd like to borrow it sometime."

"Haha, I was kidding!" He said, a grin plastered on his face.

“I’d love to borrow it, I’m almost out of books,” Branwan said happily, “perhaps I could lend you a Pratchett book, they’re very good, you might like them.”

Her gaze moved to the sun which now hung low and red in the sky, “what kind of music do you like?” she asked curiously, making conversation.

"Alright! I'd be happy to lend it to you once I finish re-reading it." He said, "Hmm..okay...it sounds interesting."

"I like alternative music. You?"
