See, it's a bit of a love story and a tale of self-discovery. It's different from Green Day's other cd's in that aspect. The fact that they themselves admit it's different from their other ones proves that Green Day is still Green Day. I don't get why some people think that Green Day's selling out with A.I. because they haven't.

they arent selling-out because of the content of the album, in fact it would be more of a sell out to carry on producing the same music because you know it will sell, its more to do with the way they have started becoming 'involved' with mainstram media.

Yeah, it's the same guy. We all got that one. wink I think that it's the complexity of the album that people don't get and that's why they don't like it. Which is crap in my eyes. It's still Green day, so what's the big deal?

i think thats more to do with the poorer quality is many of the songs compared to previous albums.

It's not poor quality; it's a different level of stamina. It's still their music.

i didnt say poor quality, i said poorer quality compared to previous albums, if you listen to dookie or nimrod for a few days and then try listening to AI, you'll see what i mean, it doesnt even have half the same buzz and energy that their other albums do.

I'm not arguing that...I just like the album. It's still a good album. I don't see anyone else with enough balls to flip off the ******** president.

are you serious? there's hundreds of people doing that and to be honest, green day arent exactly political philosophers, they dont really say anything profound, so its no wonder that people are accusing them of bandwagoning.

Well it's the originality that counts. And I only see System of a Down as mainstream as Green Day on the whole political subject.

At least they're saying something that people actually hear.
It's like, I know of a ton of bands that hate bush and are awesomely political but they're indie bands.
I mean, there's nothing wrong with that but they can't change more than a few people like that, Green Day is being heard by thousands.
My friend was telling me of this one band, they said some crazy s**t.
Not about bush but about our "Rights" and our "Freedom"

Thank you! People just don't get it! I mean, in order to make a statement, of any kind, you have to be yourself, be loud, and not give a s**t about what other people think. That combination is hard when you've got thousands of people watching you. Green Day's pulled it off. mrgreen

but they arent really saying anything of substance, half of the poeple who hear it wont understand it and take it the wrong way which can damage a cause rather than help it.

That's your opinion. I still say it takes a lot to do what they did. I don't care what anyone thinks in that aspect. cool

I think that a lot of older fans loved thier older style and expected it on the new CD. When it wasn't what they were looking forward to, it was deemed to be a sellout album rather than a change in style. However, I could be completely off.

No, you might be right. And if you are, I think that it's sad so many Green Day fans would be so closed-minded to change, considering the fact that Green Day's all about being anything but closed-minded.

It's not so much that they were close-minded, it's just that once you get into a band's style, you like it to stay that way. Since this CD was closer to the kind of stuff you hear on the radio today, people just decided that they must be selling out as opposed to trying something new.

If that wasn't coherent, I apologize. I just woke up a few minutes ago.

On the song Holiday, when they say "This is our lives on holiday" does that mean that we're acting like we're on vacation and we don't really care what happens to the world or something?

When they say "This is our lives on holiday" it's being used as a part of the rock opera and the adventures of the Jesus of Suburbia. When the JoS says that, he's referring to him running away from home (which he did in the final segment of "Jesus of Suburbia" with "Tales Of Another Broken Home"). It's about him feeling good out in the city with the Underbelly (which is his posse of friends) and it's like and escape for him. So it's him he's referring to with the whole "on holiday" thing. They tell you better at greendayauthority.com, okay?
