I'd also like to point out that spending some time at a daycare facility at a young age, actually helps children. It teaches them basic social skills, helps them open up and stops the need for being around their primary caregiver.
While constant daycare should not be a perminent solution, as it can detatch the caregiver from the child, it does help a lot.
This is just some basic psycology anyone can learn by picking up a textbook. Any lifer who says any different needs to argue with every psycologist in the world.

one downside to daycare centers is they can be a cesspit for snot-filled, sneeze-filled colds. But it's not like the little monsters don't get sick often without the help of daycares. And still, on the upside, their little immune systems get developed stronger.

MipsyKitten Hey now. Did you guys forget that once you give birth, infinate family members rush to your aid to care for your screaming sprog? They drop everything in their lives, because obviously your parents want another child to care for. Forget their just got through (or are still) raising you. The more the merrier right?! biggrin Pah. Free childcare is for the lazy whores, remember? stare

Sooo, they want women to give up the ability to make money and be productive and social to make babies. And then they can oppress the girl babies.

Bull ******** sexist classist s**t.
My mother worked her a** off for me. And you know what? She had to rely on daycare until I was seven. It wasn't free because there weren't any. But she worked about six days a week and well over 12 hours a day very often. She had to so that she could make sure that I could stay in a daycare and that I could have a good home to live in, good food in my belly, and good clothes on my back. Yeah, real ******** lazy.
Now, I hated daycare. I have a 'sensitive nervous system,' which means that I am easily stressed by loud noises, strong smells, bright lights, and other such stimulii. So for me, daycare was a living hell. Screaming kids, stuff going on all the time, I had stomach aches all the time and I was extremely stressed out. But even I can understand how much better it would have been than the alternative - that my mother stay with my father and be unhappy every single day of her life. That my father be unhappy because my mother was so unhappy. That I be unhappy because I would be viewed as a "burden" who prevented my mother from having the career she wanted, thereby making my entire family unhappy.
To call a woman lazy because she tries to hold a career AND care for her family (doing what amounts to two, or more, full time jobs) is idiotic. And it leads me to wonder if the same would be said for a single father. Is this not just sexism? Is this not just a criticism of women who aren't perfect little "angels of the hearth" and stay at home to make babies? Isn't this just another attempt by "well-meaning Christians" to prevent women from having wants and needs of their own that go beyond their potential husband's?

I wonder if this woman has ever met a single mother. She had the freaking baby! She didn't have an abortion and this is what happens more often than not....the baby lives and needs to be watched or else it'll die. YOu want us to have the kid you better provide a way for us to support it as well cause most of us can't flipping do it by ourselves. Has she ever worked at a daycare? No? I have and I saw those mothers work their asses off trying to make a better life for their kid. They needed that service so that they could help their child and themselves by working. They're always tired, they aren't lazy and they deserve a lot of respect to keep going the way they do. So until you know what you're talking about lady please don't write your ignorant and bullheaded opinions for the world to see. Do you really want them to know how flipping stupid you are?
