"That's not true!" Amleth insisted, shaking her head. "I want to be friends with you! I don't care if you can see stuff... I like you anyway." she finished this statement with a firm nod, as though that was that.
As Ivie asked her question, Amleth went quiet and looked down at her paws. She had tried to forget that day...
"No," she said softly, shaking her head. He's scared her and threatened her and left her shaking, but he hadn't hurt her like her hurt her friend... "No, he hurt Duhushi." She said, looking as though it pained her to say so. She still felt like it was somehow her fault.. Duhu had gotten smacked around by the god for demanding that Tanaka let her go, after all.

Ivie's heart sank. She wished that the world was not full of monster lions, ones that hurt and killed. She was a gentle soul, truly and she hated to see and witness so much suffering.
"Who is Duhushi? A friend?"
She sniffed, "I hope...I hope he didn't get too hurted..."

Amleth looked very sorry for her new friend. It must be hard, having not only your own memories, but the memories of others to deal with. She looked thoughtful, though, as Ivie asked who Duhushi was.
"..I can show you," she said slowly, looking into Ivie's eyes and smiling reassuringly. "Okay? Here..." She closed her eyes and concentrated. In her mind, the memories of that day that she and Duhushi had gone to the waterhole and caught fish surfaced. And the one of them together under the gnarled tree, watching the stars. And chasing mice in the graveyard. Happy memories, ones that showed how much the two lions cared for each other. She frowned in the effort of holding them in the front of her mind, and then reached out to touch Ivie with a gentle paw.

Ivie tried to flinch away but something told her that this time it would be okay.
And unlike the first time her mind was filled with colour and a lion who was so amazingly bright. His pelt was of a deep purple like that of the flowers that grew around here.
He was very pretty.
He moved closer and Amleth's own form came into the picture. Even at this young age Ivie could see there was something different about them. They were affectionate just like her parents were.
Then the image faded and Ivie gave a small purr. "I see him, I see pretty Duhushi! Are you twos in love?" It was asked with innocence.

Amleth beamed, happy that her idea had worked. See, there! It wasn't all bad, being able to see memories! She withdrew her paw and purred back.
"Good, see, he -" she stopped mid-sentence, coughing and looking caught off-guard. "Are we WHAT?" she choked out finally, staring at Ivie and looking rather embarassed. "We're.. what. I.. no, we're.. he's my best friend!" she said finally, looking at her paws. In love.. what a silly concept.

She chuckled. "Best friends? But you act like mummy and daddy!" She bounced on her paws, golden-tufted tail waving wildy from side to side. "I think one day you'll be a mummy too and Duhushi will be a daddy and you'll have little cubs together!"
She bounced.
"Do we all end up with our best friends?"

Amleth couldn't really debate that point, she had never met Ivie's parents... nor had she ever really witnesses a functional relationship, to be honest. She knew Tanaka and Kiuma were mates, but they were SCARY. And she knew that Duhu's parents were distant, and Ny's...well, that was an entirely different story.
She made a face, sticking her tongue out at the bouncing cub. "Naah, will not!" At Ivie's question though, she tilted her head. Why would the cub think that?
"No, of course not. My friend Ny, her daddy..." She frowned and paused. "He really hurt her mommy. And he's a bad lion." she said, frowning with dislike for Nyekundu. "Why, though? Are your parents best friends?" she asked with a smile.

She beamed, wishing her powers could allow her to see the future. She wanted to know whether she was right or not and was rather eager to know.
She was beginning to enjoy Amleth's company more than anyone elses. She had shown her a lovely memory! She hadn't run away in fear. Perhaps Amleth was even better than Fedha...almost. She had an admiration for that juvenile who had given her hope.
"But....but mummy and daddy are supposed to get along, not hurt each other." The thought saddened her. She nodded, "yep...my parents seem to get along well. I wish it could be like that for everyone..."
Then she remembered. "Oh no! I have to go. Mummy will be so worried! I hope we can meet again soon, kay?" But so concerned about her mother and dinner time she dashed off without waiting for an answer.
