Well, this will be interesting. Mum announced just a few week ago that she was going to be pregnant again. Splendid. I just found a maternity clinic to my liking and decided to have a child as well. I can't believe Mum wants another kid.

In any case, she isn't finding out about my child for awhile. I chose a phoenix soul and pearl essence. My child will be beautiful; I just know it. I told Kayce and Nieva, and both were very excited for me. Kayce said she would make something for the baby, and while I am a little suspicious that it might be a weapon, I feel rather touched by that. She may be very unemotional at times, but she does have a good heart. I think I'll try to teach her to sew. She would like that.

Anyway, I'm going to go in for my first appointment sometime soon. I can't wait. I'm going to be a mother!

Now I am excited. Mum and Dad came back from their appointment very happy and babbling about how excellent the doctors are and how painless it all was. Mum was happy with it, and that is saying something. She hates procedures and check-ups. It must be because she is a doctor herself and knows exactly what to expect. But she seemed very happy, so that is a good sign.

I have yet to go in for my appointment, but I am preparing. Mum and Dad allowed Nieva and me to re-do the basement. It is going to become its own mini apartment. We will share a kitchen and full bathroom, but there will be three bedrooms plus a large family room that will double as a play area. We worked out the design already, and we started on moving things around. It is hard work, but we have had a lot of progress. The walls are starting to go up, and as soon as those are finished, we are painting. We decided on hardwood floors since those are easy to clean, and we found a simple inexpensive style that we liked.

I find it odd that Nieva and I get along now. Before, we were rivals, but in the last few months, we have become sisters in truth. I trust her with everything. She is excited about being an aunt, as much as I am excited about being a mother. She and I have already started discussing colors for the baby's room.

It probably must be mentioned that Mum and Dad still don't know about the baby. They think we're just doing the extra bedroom as an extra room to have in case we need it later. They don't know that we'll actually need it sooner than they think. I find that quite amusing.

[RP with Raj and Rian- At the Nutrition Store]

((For time's sake, I'm not going to quote over every post but copy-paste it all as a chunk. For those who are confused, Raj and Rian are Black Lily's while Karael is mine.))

It smelled funny in there. Not a clean, simple smell like Rian had been hoping for, but an odd mix of citrus and marijuana. The demon scowled, pulling the hat on his head down a bit further. "It's not bad, and it'll make you feel good!" Pssh. He was sure the old woman behind the counter (with an odd, ceramic owl.. bear.. toad? thing on her head felt pretty good smelling this stuff all day..) He paused, trudging after his giddy lover. ", where do we start? I think a lot of this stuff is for people who have big health problems.." Raj immediately started scanning the nearest shelf, while Rian looked around him.

Well, no one would recognize him, hopefully. His brother would just die laughing if he saw him either with Raj or with that odd hat with cat ears on him. "What's this?" Raj held up a small tube, Rian not sparing a glance.

"An atomic bomb." Raj squeaked and dropped it, earning a snicker from Rian.

"Folic acid, vitamin B12, iron..." Karael muttered beneath her breath as she pushed open the door to the health and nutrition store, her gaze focused on the piece of paper in her hands. These were the basic minerals and things she needed, she knew. What else she needed was beyond her. The idiot doctor at the general hospital had never dealt with her kind before and had just spewed a load of useless BS. Humph. Even she knew these basic necessities!

Poking through the aisles of the rather odd-smelling store, she blinked curiously at a squeak coming from somewhere off to her left. She peeked her head around the shelf, looking about for the squeaker.

Raj prodded the tube with his toe, still looking fairly nervous. "Oh my God. You're such an idiot." Rian grumbled, glancing around. "Should go ask someone up front.."

"But then we'll have to endure odd looks -"

"Which you love."

"And have to make up excuses about the whole pregnant thing!" Raj glared at him for cutting him off. "And I don't love them. I love odd comments." he huffed, looking around. "We can try all of them.."

"I'm not immortal, something in here could kill me. AND the kid." Raj huffed, muttering something under his breath and looking around again. A small, sheepish smile spread across his face at the sight of a female peering at them.

"His fault."

Karael, eyeing the two males (at least she thought they were males) with some wariness, gave Raj a look of mild disbelief. "I see."

The green Ancient stepped from behind the shelf and drew herself up to her full five fet of height, her shopping list clutched in one hand. "What are you looking for anyway?"

"Stuff so he won't be bitchy until the baby's born." Raj said, a blank look in his eyes. Rian snorted, nodding a bit.

"Hate to say it.. Stuff to ease pregnancy stuff. I.. think.." he cleared his throat, looking awkward while pulling down his shirt a bit. He hated being caught like this.. "Have any idea? 'cause this kid doesn't have a clue." Rian sent a pointed look towards his lover. Raj sneered, sticking out his tongue.

"Ummm.... I'm sorry, but I don't know about any 'anti-bitchy' stuff. I do know some vitamins to assist the baby's and your health and development. They work for humans, and they should work for me," Karael said thoughtfully, waving the list about lightly.

Then she eyed two, glancing back and forth. "How in Gaia does a man become pregnant?"she asked, having never heard of that being possible.

Raj and Rian both replied automatically, "Magic." Rian coughed a bit, adding, "And a bit of persuasion. It wasn't my choice really, but I can't say no to him.." Raj beamed, clasping his hands together.

"It was this great clinic thing, and the people there were so sweet! The guy totally understood and the other one even made sure Rian didn't freak out!"

A maternity clinic that used magic? That sounded oddly familiar. "The Soul Maternity Clinic, right? I have an appointment there soon," Karael said with a mild sigh. "So... magic? I never would have it possible..." she mused, shrugging her shoulders.

Raj grinned, head bobbing up and down in a nod. "Oh, you'll love it. It's simple and clean and.. they're really polite there. Understanding and all.." he smiled to himself, spacing out.

"Sure is possible." Rian sighed, looking around. "So, are you going to help us out, or are we ending this little conversation?"

Karael nodded. "That sounds like what my mum said when she came back, so I'm not too worried. If Mum and Dad like it, I know I will. The two of them are unbelievably picky," she said, pulling a wry face. Parents.

She gave the other male a rather peeved look. "Being rude isn't necessary, and yes, I'll help you. Though most of these cater toward womens' needs, not mens'," she said, and with that, she did a prompt about-face and headed in the direction of the vitamins and supplements, beckoning over her shoulder with one three-fingered hand. "They're over here."

"I knew they were popular.." Raj said to himself, grabbing his lover's arm and starting to follow her. "He's always rude - ignore him. He's a sweet guy, really, just.." he huffed, smacking the demon on the head. "Be nice." Rian continued his grumbling.

Raj stood on his toes to look at what isle the odd looking female was in. Scrambling after her, Rian following slowly, he glanced over the rows. ".. Wow. A lot of stuff."

"They are because they're good. I heard a couple of kids were born too, and that makes me feel much more confident," Karael said, turning around to eye the rude one. He reminded her of her father. Aiodhan was quite the rude little brat at times too, though 'little' seemed an inappropriate way to term him. He was huge.

She had to smile at the comment. "Yes, it is a lot of stuff, but pregnancy requires a special diet and extra vitamins and minerals. Not extra of all of them, though," she said, consulting her list.

"Ugh." Rian made a face, wandering over, slipping his arms around Raj's waist and peering at the items in question. "I'm not taking all that." he made a face. Raj shrugged, raising an eyebrow.

"You will if you want your kid to be healthy. And if you don't want to be so sick.." Raj said quietly, reaching behind him to hit the demon on the head. "Thanks for this, by the way."

Karael grinned broadly, showing each and every single one of her sharp teeth. "You don't have to take all of it. Just what your diet doesn't cover. You need iron, protein, calcium, folic acid... and lots of folic acid if you have a history of neurological problems in your family... the omega acids, and some silica. My sister is studying nutrition, and my mum is a doctor. They know about all of this and are helping me," she said, quite amused by the male's reaction. "And if your diet is sufficient, you'll probably only need a boost of iron and folic acid, just to prevent neurological problems and anemia."

She smiled at the friendly one. "You're welcome."

"Urgh." Rian shook his head, scoffing quietly. "That's too much." he mumbled. "I'm not taking all of that! Flic acid.. Psssh.. It's a lot of bull -"

"You are taking it all, or I'm going to stuff it down your throat when you're asleep and you'll choke and die and it's all because you didn't want to be healthy!" Raj took a deep breath, fairly flushed after his little rant. "And remember that.. Folic.. Omega.. Calcium.. Acid.. Stuff.."

Karael sighed. Men. They just did not have the capacity to understand pregnancy to its fullest. "Folic acid is not a lot of bull. Defiencies in folic acid can cause the brain and spinal cord to not develop properly."

She grinned ferally at the sensible one's minor rant. Yes, he at least was trying. That was progress, at least. "The better your diet is, the less you have to take as supplements. Besides, they have good prenatal supplements that help. One tablet a day as an extra boost. That's what I'm going to take. My diet is fairly well-balanced, but I'm not taking the chance," she said, taking a few steps further down the aisle to eye the selection of prenatal supplements. Not the one with excess Vitamin A; she didn't want that one...

Rian let out a quiet sight, following the woman.. thing. All right, all right.. He'd do this for Raj. "What if you mostly survive on protein?" he asked quietly. "Or.. uh, meat. With a bit of grain. Going to have to take more or less?"

Raj patted the other male's back, smiling to himself. "Aah.. This is good. You're talking again. Don't worry, it won't be that bad.."

Spying a promising-looking bottle of supplement, Karael picked it up and turned it around to read the back of the label, her tail swishing lightly behind her. It seemed to have everything in- wait, did they just ask her a question? They did. "Meat with some grain? I don't think that will cut it. That takes care of protein and iron, but you need the folic acid and calcium too."

She did spare a smile for the other one. "If you're okay with the idea, why aren't you going to be the pregnant one?"

Raj let out a dreamy sigh, seemingly spacing off. "Because he didn't want to see me in any sort of pain." he cooed, beaming. Rian scoffed, not saying anything, glancing over to the bottle.

"No, he'd just be too wimpy to handle anything.. He has a breakdown everytime he pukes." Rian said under his breath. Raj let out a cry, smacking his lover's arm.

Had Karael possessed pupils, the eyeroll she performed would have been more meaningful. Since she didn't, the gesture seemed somewhat pointless, but the message was still the same. Ugh.... passionate love. "Noble sentiment, but if you hold his hand while he goes into labor-- that is, if he does go into labor instead of having a C-section-- you're still going to be in pain," she pointed out rather practically.

She did manage to keep an otherwise straight face, though. A breakdown every time he vomited? Honestly, even squeamish Erin wasn't that bad, and that little toddler had the emotional stability of ... well... a toddler.

Rian muttered something inaudible (it could have been 'not going to do the labor thing' or 'not going to chew the gator ring' or something else..) and shook his head. "I'll hopefully be able to do the c-section. Anything else will be too painful.." The demon shuddered at the thought.

Raj cleared his throat, glancing around. "D'you recommend anything here?"

"Males. No tolerance for pain," Karael said with a wry expression. "A C-section makes more sense to me. Especially since I'm not sure how natural labor would work in a male." She shrugged. Ah well. Good thing she didn't have to worry about it herself.

She waggled the bottle in her hand. "I'm going to take this one. This has extras of everything: folic acid, calcium, protein, iron. If you're getting enough iron and protein, you might not need this. Do you eat any vegetables?" she asked the more-grumpy one. Then it finally dawned on her that she didn't know their names. Whoops. "Oh, I'm Karael Layden, by the way."

Rian let out a slow sigh, leaning back. "Nope, don't really. They're disgusting." he huffed. "And I have a pretty damn good idea about how labor would happen, but I don't want to go through that mess." he glanced over his shoulder at Raj, who was now picking up random bottles and scanning them as if he knew what he was doing.

"Rian Sato. He's Raj." the demon said after a moment. "Suppose we should have done the introductions first.."

"Ohhh, then you will have to take a more enriched supplement. Vegetables provide a lot of the necessary vitamins and things," Kari said, mentally reviewing her own diet with a hefty sigh. This meant more spinach for her, and she hated spinach.

"Nice to meet you both, Rian, Raj," she said, nodding politely. "As long as they got done, I don't think it matters. Did you already choose the soul and essence for your child?"

Raj glanced up, nodding happily. "Something for both of us. Faerie soul and demon horn, right?" the human glanced to Rian, who nodded a bit. "Ahh, 's going to be so cuuuute!"

"Gah. More enriched with what?" Rian muttered, deciding to ignore Raj's 'cute' commment.

Karael's mouth twitched into a brief smile at Raj's comment. He was entertaining this one. "Faerie soul and demon horn? That will be an interesting mix." She eyed Rian. "I guess you wanted the 'demon horn' part."

"You'll need a supplement with the folic acid, silica, and calcium at the least," she added, picking up one bottle after another. "This one might work."

Rian smirked lightly, nodding after a moment. "That'd be probably as close as I could get to getting a child from my own blood or something, anyway." he said quietly, absentmindedly patting his stomach. "Damn. 's a lot of stuff.." he said quietly, peering over to the bottles. "Which one, again?"

Raj glanced over, letting out a quiet sigh. "Quit whining already." he mumbled. "Thanks for all this help."

Karael didn't bring up that she had never seen faerie and demon cross in a positive manner. That would certainly be a different child. "It is a lot of stuff, but it's necessary. Just be glad you don't have to go through labor," she said, plucking up one of the bottles and hand it to him, her own bottle of supplements held in her other three-fingered hand.

She grinned and nodded at Raj. "No problem. Glad I could be of some assistance."

Rian grabbed the bottle, letting out a quiet sigh. "Well.. This'll have to do." He didn't want to talk about the possibility of going into labor - that was just. Urgh. "Raj. 's pay and go. I'm hungry and I'm worn out and.. I want to take this damn hat off." he grumbled, raising his hand in a wave and starting to trot away from Karael.

Raj scoffed, rolling his eyes and standing up straight, looking to the woman. "Hum, I guess we have to go.. Don't want him to throw a fit. Maybe we can meet again?" he smiled brightly, glancing over his shoulder. "When he's in a better mood.."

Karael waved a hand at the retreating demon. How impatient he was! "No, that would be bad. Him throwing a fit, I mean," she said, raising an eyebrow to watch him go. She nodded. "Yes, I'd like to meet you another time. If you need help with other things, Mum and I can help you out. Just... ummm... don't tell my mum you saw me here." She fidgeted. "She doesn't know I'm pregnant."

Raj winked and nodded, laughing under his breath. "'s all right, I'll stay quiet about it. I'll keep that in mind - that you'll help. Well, good luck with everything! Hope stuff turns out well!" He sounded a bit rushed, mostly because he could hear Rian snapping to the woman at the counter to hurry.

"Ack, Rian, don't -" Raj waved to Karael, scrambling after Rian, who had just tossed money onto the counter, snatched up the bottle and stormed out of the store.

Karael managed a wave before the two disappeared before heading toward the counter to pay for her own bottle. What a strange pair those two were... ah well. As long as they didn't tell Mum...

Clinic Visit

Amyla Edana
Karael peeked her head into the lobby door. To the left... the coast was clear. Right... yes, it was clear. Squaring her shoulders and smoothing out her dress (which was considerably more modest than her normal attire), she padded in carefully, trying not to mar the floor with her claws. It was clean and welcoming, and, thankfully, her parents did not have an appointment today. Well, that was a relief. No worries about getting caught.

She strolled over to the receptionist's desk, idly flicking a hand back and forth. Cringing a bit when she accidentally knocked over a stack of brochures, she exercised her gift to put them right again. There, that was better. No harm done!

Nurse Faithful
A male with long black hair blinks up at her from the computer at the desk, momentarily surprise replaced with a soft smile. "Hello Miss. How can I help you?"

Amyla Edana

Karael managed a polite smile, trying not to bare her fangs all too much. "Hello. My name is Karael Layden, and I believe I have an appointment." She pulled a slip of paper from her pocket and read it. Yes... yes, she had it right. For once.

Nurse Faithful

Kana types away on the keyboard, smiling up at her as the computer file popped up. "You do." he closes the program down and picks up another file off the desk, standing up. "If you'll follow me Miss Karael." he nods and walks around the desk, heading down the hallway to the left.

Amyla Edana
"Thanks. And it's just Karael. 'Miss' makes me feel really old," Karael said, grinning quite widely now. 'Miss' was for her mother. Well... no, that really should be more like 'Ms.' But Karael was definitely not old enough to be called 'ma'am.' She followed him down the hallway, glancing about just to make sure her parents weren't in the vicinity. Call her paranoid, but she did not want to get busted now.

Nurse Faithful

"Very well then Karael." Kana chuckles and stands beside an open doorway, "Go ahead and hop up onto the bed."

Amyla Edana
Karael nodded and padded toward the bed, managing to keep her claws from clacking on the floor. "Okay. Thank you!" she said, managing to get herself onto the bed without injuring herself or damaging anything. Legs dangling over the side, she resisted the temptation to swing them back and forth. No, no reason to be childish. Not now.

Nurse Faithful
Kana smiles, hair swaying behind him as he walked inside, shutting the door in his wake. "Alrighty then. I'm Doctor Kilikana, Kana for short." he holds his hand out to her, pushing his glasses up before doing so.

Amyla Edana
"A pleasure to meet you, Doctor," Karael said happily, extending one of her three-fingered hands to shake his. She did take care to not scratch him with her claws. That usually didn't go over well. "Are you the doctor in charge here?"

Nurse Faithful
"As with you Karael." he takes his hand back after a moment, setting the file down on the desk beside the bed. "That I am. I watch over just about everything that goes on in this clinic. Nothing gets done withought my permission." he chuckles softly.

Amyla Edana

Karael watched him set the file down. "It must be a big job, running this place. I know there are a lot of people who come here," she said, not mentioning that her parents were among those. Better to leave that detail for later, perhaps. "So... how exactly does it all work?"

Nurse Faithful

"It can be tiring sometimes. But all the employees I've hired so far I know very closely. They help out with just about everything, especially since I'm handicaped." he chuckles softly, "Well, it all depends on if you know if your pregnant or not firstly."

Amyla Edana

"That must make things a lot easier, knowing everyone," Karael commented, giving him a curious look. Handicapped? Part of her wanted to ask, but maybe she had better not press it. Ahhh, now it was down to business. "Well, I'm not. Or at least I don't think so," she said.

Nurse Faithful
"Well, we can find out two ways. Through a blood test or a quick and painless spell. I don't do the spell myself of course, Izzi or Licenziare will do that job." he smiles, the only scarrings on him showing were the two on his left cheek and the one showing over the top of his shirt on his chest/neck, the coloration a light blue against his white skin, an odd sight.

Amyla Edana
"Well, I haven't done anything to get myself pregnant... yet," Karael added, giving the scars on his face a curious glance. Those were interesting. Luckily enough, she hadn't picked up any scars yet. Not major ones, anyway. Just the usual little ones from childhood injuries. "I was actually hoping this place could be a bit of a help with that. I want very much to be a mother, but I've never met a man-- or I should say, a male of any compatible species-- whom I thought was capable of being a good father. An available male," she tagged on as an afterthought.

Nurse Faithful
Kana chuckles softly, brushing his hair out of his face again. "Well, we can handle that easily." he nods, "Our magicians will place a very simple life spell in your stomach, where the child will grow safely, and you can be on your way, a happy soon to be mother." he nods again, "We'll keep a close eye on you though, we've had some...interesting...mishaps with thier magic." he pauses then quickly adds, "Though nothing that we couldn't handle and both parent and children came out fine." he reasures her.

Amyla Edana

Karael was delighted. It all sounded so simple. "Interesting mishaps, huh? Well, I've got a big of magic in my blood, so maybe that'll prevent any minor crises," she chuckled. She was in too good a mood now to worry about mishaps. If her own mother had survived Caleb, Karael could survive this. Easily. "What sort of mishaps occurred? Just in case one happens, I want to be prepared," she added, though she wasn't truly afraid or worried about it.

Nurse Faithful
"Magic in your blood too huh?" He pushes his glasses up some, "Well, one mishap was because the father was a vampire, and the children ended up dying. But he brought his mate here quickly and we put the soul in place. The kids came back to life, but the mother went into a bit early labor." he nods, thinking for a moment. "The other mishap wasn't actually that dangerous, just that the mother's own magic source and Izzis' blended together, making the pregnancy go faster than usual, no morning sickness, and the occasional pains in her stomach." he nods. "But I believe thier magic only blended because of the promise Izzi had made, and because both of them are highly talented magicians."

Amyla Edana
"Well... vampires are the walking dead. I can see how vampire children would be dead, I suppose," Karael said thoughtfully. "And yes, I have some in my blood. I'm a hellhound, or a humanoid version of one, anyway." She flicked one of her clawed hands. "I don't think it'll hurt, or help, but I'll stay alert just in case." Though, she definitely wouldn't have minded an accelerated pregnancy. The kids dying in the womb would have been minorly panic-inducing though. Okay, perhaps majorly panic-inducing, but that was beyond the point.

Nurse Faithful

"Very true. Alright, before Izzi comes in to start the spell, I'll need to do a quick check up on you. Clinic mandatory all around the states." he nods and chuckles, picking a stethascope up.

Amyla Edana
Yay, check-up. Karael nodded, idly scratching behind one of her horns. "I was expecting that. Mum came home talking about her appointment before," she said before she realized. Ooops. Ah well. The secret was out.

Nurse Faithful
"Really?" he asks curiously, "Who's your mother?" he gently presses the end of the stethascope against her back, "Breathe in." he says calmly.

Amyla Edana

Yes, the fat just hit the fire. "Amyla Raikes. Her... um... mate is Aiodhan Layden. I just took his last name in the event they ever decide to get married, which they probably will," Karael replied in her standard practical manner. She then obediently took in a deep breath. Really, this wasn't so bad.

Nurse Faithful

"Ah, Amyla. I didn't get to be in charge of her. But I did read her file. Tis the job of being boss." he nods and chuckles softly, finishing with her breathing and starting the eyes/ears/throat inspection.

Amyla Edana
"Hope you never have to meet her. She's been getting crankier by the day," Karael said with a heavy sigh. "Oh, she's really very kind, and she's a wonderful mother. But she is getting bigger, and her level of grouchiness has increased along with it. My poor dad," she added, grinning just a bit as he examined her eyes. She had to wonder if her lack of pupils surprised him. Probably not. He likely saw a lot of weird and unusual beings here.

Nurse Faithful

Kana finishes up and smiles, "Well, I'll meet her one way or another eventually." he nods softly, "I'll go get Licen and have him do the spell, then you can come on out to the front. I do believe I hear a familiar squeel of delight." he laughs and shakes his head, heading out to find the hybri. Ol' grandpa may be a very masculine male, but he squeeled just like a girl when he was really happy.

Amyla Edana

Karael gave him a look of pity that was only partially a joke. "You poor man." She cocked her head to one side, picking up the sound of the squeal that he mentioned. Interesting. That sounded rather like her little sister. That was a man? Oh dear. She grinned and waited patiently.

Nurse Faithful
A knock sounded on the door a few moments later, and a bushy headed male peeks in. "Ah. Right room." the hybrid steps in, hair framing his purple horn and green eyes dancing happily. "I'm Licenziare, or Licen for short. I'll be taking care of the spell and you from now on."

Amyla Edana
Karael grinned at the hybrid, baring each and every one of her sharp teeth. "Hello, Licen. I'm Karael," she said, eyeing his purple horn. That was an interesting feature, though she did prefer her own brown ones. "Are there any side effects to this spell, besides the obvious results of it?" she asked.

Nurse Faithful
"Nope. None at all. Though there is on myself if i'm ill or tired. Which I am in fact neither." he smiles, tail twitching under the lab coat. "It'll take just a moment then you can go meet Thomas and Seres." he'd actually almost run into Kana in the hallway, so he knew just about what was going on.

Amyla Edana

Karael nodded, glad that she didn't have to worry about any unexpected effects. "Thomas and Seres? Are they parents or children... or more doctors?" she inquired, curling her own tail about one of her legs.

Nurse Faithful
"Thomas is a little kid right now, just learning to talk and Seres is the father. He's an odd fellow, just don't mention that to him." he smiles sheepishly. "He's actually from another part of the world, another demension I believe myself. But he's a ninja, and an extremely dangerous one. Though he's mellowed out since he bumped into Kana and is a father." he grins. "You'll love Thomas. Though if you have any items on you that you don't want dissapearing, watch them. The kid may be small, but he's smart and sneaky."

Amyla Edana
"Ahhhhh! Well, I like little kids, and I have a baby brother at home who's just learning to talk," Karael laughed, grinning widely. Yes, little kids were fun, with the exceptions of a few. "And I didn't bring anything with, so I'm not worried about him stealing it. Besides, whatever stuff he steals, I can get back,"she added, concentrating enough to lift up the bed she was seated on a few inches and then set it back down. "I'm telekinetic. And I highly doubt Seres can bother me. I have a sister who knows how to fight and a father who's half-dragon. Honestly, I don't think there is much that can bother me."

Nurse Faithful
Licen was honestly impressed with her ability. Sure he could do that too, but she didn't have much magic in her so to him she was special...in a good way that is. "Well, sounds like an interesting family. I'll go ahead and get this spell done with." he smiles and nods, eyes fading to a golden color as he looks right at her stomach.

Amyla Edana

"You have no idea," Karael said fervently, in regards to her interesting family. It was hard to comprehend them all really. They never ceased to amaze her. She watched his eyes fade to gold, and she managed to keep from twitching. It was difficult, though. She didn't feel any different, really, but she supposed that the spell was doing its job.

Nurse Faithful

Finally his eyes turned to normal, a grin on his face. "Well, everything seems fine."

Amyla Edana

Karael was pleased. Done so quickly and painlessly? Excellent! Why did anyone ever want to do it the 'natural' way?! "That's good news!"

Nurse Faithful

Licen nods, "Sure is good news. The spell is in place and you're all set."

Amyla Edana

"Excellent. Now the only thing I have to figure out is how to break it to Mum and Dad," Karael said with a gleeful grin. That would, of course, be a very serious conversation, but she wasn't worried. She was in too good a mood to be worried. "Any other things I need to be aware of?"

Nurse Faithful
"Good luck with that. I was a tad scared to tell my parents when I came to be pregnant. But they were kind." he nods, eyes showing no emotion. "And there isn't anything you should be worried about. You're all set and ready for the begginings' of mother hood."

Amyla Edana

"Thanks. I think they will take it all right, provided I break the news at the right time," Karael said gratefully, sliding off the bed onto the floor. "Thank you very much!" she added again, a wide smile decorating her face.

Nurse Faithful
Licen nods and chuckles, "Your very welcome Karael." a look passes over his face for a moment, then he grins widely. "You're gonna love what you see out in the lobby." he giggles.

Amyla Edana

A male knew how to giggle? Perhaps she shouldn't ask. "Uh oh. I'll prepare for the worst," Karael said facetiously, mock-balling her three-fingered hands into fists. "I may be overwhelmed by the cuteness of a little kid."

Nurse Faithful

"You may just be." he giggles again and heads out of the room, turning down the hallway away from the lobby, leaving the door open.

Out in the lobby sounds of laughter is heard. One of them a very masculine voice and one that Kareal hadnt' heard yet.

Amyla Edana

Karael padded across the floor, idly clicking her claws on the floor as she went. She was prepared for the worst. She had four siblings, plus several more on the way from various adoption agencies and this maternity clinic. She knew little kids could be devilish little buggers.

At the sound of laughter, she tilted her horned head to one side and wandered out the open door and down the hallway, toward the sounds of the laughter.

Nurse Faithful

The source of the laughter was scurrying away from Kana, the little kid clinging to a blue cloth that had some metal on it. His rose colored tail streaming behind him and ears perked up.

A long red haired male clutches his sides as he laughs, a loose white shirt covering his torso and black jeans with combat boots finishing the outfit. Scars on his right forearm are showing clearly, two scars going down from under his left eye and down his chin to his throat, escaping to hide under his shirt.

Seakin was standing beside the red head, watching his son and the kid scurry about the lobby, eyes dancing with laughter as he grins widely.

Amyla Edana

Karael watched in bewilderment as the little kid was chased. Well, he certainly was a speedy little thing. Obviously, he had no desire to be caught. Interesting.

Keeping close to a wall in order to avoid being run over by the pursuer and the pursued, she edged away from the hallway and closer to the door, eyeing the laugher and the grinner. They seemed to be in no mood to help. What in Gaia was going on?!

Nurse Faithful

Finally, Kana partially pounces on the little kid, scooping him up into his arms. "Gotcha Tommy!" he chuckles and takes the headband away, placing a kiss on the kids head. "You should know better than now than to take daddies stuff." he taps Thomas on the nose, spotting Karael with a grin. "Ah! I take it the spell is in place?" he pauses and glances at the red head. "Breathe love, breathe." he chuckles.

The red head finally calmed down, wiping tears away from his eyes as he gathers himself up, still chuckling as he takes the headband from Kana, placing a kiss on both the doctors' and the kids head. "Thanks hun." he takes the smaller red head and tickles him a little, getting a squeel of laughter.

Amyla Edana

Tommy? An interestingly cute name for such a little bundle of mischief. She nodded at Kana. "Yep. All in place, and I'm going to be a mother. It's a combination of frightening and completely exhilirating," she said grinning.

She cocked her head to one side, watching the poor guy stop laughing to take the kid. So that was how the chase had started. Little thief. Good thing she did have nothing on her. She wouldn't have put it past the kid to slip something.

Nurse Faithful

"Congratulations then." Kana smiles. "Oh! This is Thomas." he ruffles the little kids hair, getting a squawk of protest. "And this is my mate, Seres." he smiles at the male that was holding Thomas. "You two, this is Karael, now one of the mothers we 're taking care of." he glances at Thomas. "That means you'll get to meet some more kids."

Thomas grins in delight, his tail twitching and one ear lifting up, his single purple and single green eye watching the humaniod hellhound curiously.

Amyla Edana
"Thanks!" Karael replied to Kana, grinning at the kid's protest. Poor thing. So abused. "Hello, Thomas and Seres! Nice to meet both of you." She had to smirk at the grin on Thomas' face. That look reminded her much of Caleb's expression. The two of them would get along. "You'd like my little brother, Thomas. I think you two would get along very nicely," she chuckled rather wickedly, her bright yellow eyes dancing with hidden glee. Of course, her parents wouldn't like that very much, but... ah well!

Nurse Faithful

Thomas tilts his head curiously, "Cayeb?" He thinks about it for a moment, nodding happily. "Oh-tay!"

Seres chuckles and shifts Thomas to his other hip, "Same here as well, Karael." he nods, voice holding a certian roughness to it, the old injuries seemed to have possibly harmed his voice box. The scars did run over his throat.

Amyla Edana
Karael grinned. "Yeaaah... 'Cayeb.' Just be careful he breathes fire."

She turned to Seres, inclining her head to him. "I take it you have your hands full with this little guy. Does he ever wear you out?"

Nurse Faithful

Kana and Seres glance at each other, then back to Karael, "All the time." they say in perfect unision, glancing back at each other and laughing.

Thomas blinks up at his 'mommy' and daddy, both ears perking upwards.

Amyla Edana
Karael assumed an expression of mock-sympathy. "How awful. It must be such a trial for the both of you," she said with as pathetic a voice as she could muster. She paused for a moment to think and then glanced around for something to move about. That would get the boy's attention. Definitely not furniture. She was powerful enough to lift it, but she didn't feel like risking injuring anyone.

Slipping her hand into her pocket, she came in contact with the paper she had written her appointment time on. A ha! She pulled her three-fingered hand from her pocket and held it out in front of her; then she propelled the paper into the air, swooping it in loops up above her hand.

Nurse Faithful
Thomas immediatly flicked his eyes at the paper, watching it silently. He may be cute and cuddly looking, but he could be one perfect stalking creature when need be.

Amyla Edana
Karael grinned, baring her fangs in a display of amusement. He was adorable, this little one. High-maintenance, most likely, but adorable. She made the paper float down closer to him, twirling in loop-the-loops just in front of him. This was simply too amusing.

Nurse Faithful

As soon as the paper got within snatchable distance, he nearly leaps out of his daddies arms' to grab at it.

Amyla Edana

Chuckling a bit as Thomas went to grab it, Karael almost instinctively took a step forward in case he overbalanced and fell. That would not have been a fun thing to watch. "I guess you like to hunt things." She glanced up at Seres. "Does he usually stalk things?"

Nurse Faithful

Seres shifts his hold on the kid, nodding. "He sure does." he chuckles softly, patting Thomas on the head, getting a little growl in reply for it as Thomas inspects the paper curiously. "I personally believe he gets the viciousness from my side of the genes."

Kana thwacks him upside the head. "Of course he does. And thanks to that we gotta deal with a vicious kid who, if he doesn't get his way, will in fact attack things." he chuckles and turns to Karael. "Seres here has some fresh scars on his legs from Tommy here finding his kunai and throwing them." he shakes his head, chuckling more, "He's one hellion, but we love him."

Amyla Edana

"I see. He seems like quite the vicious little monster," Karael said with full mock solemnity, watching Thomas look over the paper. "Attack things? Well, that's never a good sign. I think we should keep him away from my youngest sister, then. They would both inflict some serious damage on each other." Erin was irresistibly cute, though, as was Thomas. She had a feeling Thomas had more redeeming qualities than Erin, even though that opinion could possibly have been biased. "It's hard to not love them. Until they hit their teen years. Then they make you pull your hair out."

Nurse Faithful

Kana chuckles softly, "Or I know. I've been watching my nephews' grow." he shakes his head, "I'd have to say Aerandir, the eldest, and Elata, the second youngest; have the most attitudes. Its' a bit odd though, seeing as thier parents are a merman and an angel, you'd think they'd be sweet." he shrugs. "Then again, they do hold magic in thier veins, and neither of them are happy about what they're stuck with."

Seres shudders slightly, remembering running into Aerandir when the kid wasn't in the best of moods. He'd gotten the scars on his forearm from that encounter.

Thomas stops and looks up at Karael, holding the paper out at her, eyes holding a hint of child like seriousness. "Up." he commands cutely, tail twitching.

Amyla Edana
"You'd think they would be happy to have some magic. I'm happy with what I have. It's a gift, not a curse," Karael said thoughtfully, frowning a bit. How strange. "An angel with an attitude? Interesting."

She grinned at Thomas. "Up, huh? All right." She twitched a finger and sent it swirling back into the air over his head. "That better?"

Nurse Faithful
Thomas squeels with delight, tail twitching gleefully. Kana chuckles and shakes his head. "It is a gift; all of my nephews are very lucky with what they got, even though I do feel a little bad for Julian." he chuckles again, "Well, I don't want to keep you from whatever you may have planned. We'll let you head out." he nods, smiling, "Till next time Karael."

Amyla Edana

Karael gave one last flick of her hand to send the paper zooming back at Thomas. "I'm guessing Julian doesn't have any, huh? Well, not everybody is that lucky." She grinned and watched Thomas for a moment. "Oh, I don't have anything planned besides painting a room," she chuckled. "Which I had better get started on soon, or it may never get done. It was wonderful to meet you both," she added, giving Thomas a grin. Such a cute little kid.

Nurse Faithful

Thomas snatches the paper out of the air again, giggling gleefully. Kana smiles and shakes his head at Karael, "No, Julian doesn't have a drop of magic in him. That's why he took up a medical career like myself." he nods once. "Painting does take time, I learned that the hard way." he chuckles.

Amyla Edana

Karael chuckled. "Mum and Dad don't have a single bit either. I don't think they really care, so I'm just grateful for what I got," she said fervently, watching Thomas. "Painting takes forever. We have to finish painting the whole basement."

Nurse Faithful
"Well, have fun." Kana chuckles, using his free hand to brush his hair out of his face.

Well, I went and did it. I am officially pregnant. I am so excited that it almost frightens me. I'm going to be a mother!

I haven't felt any different. Not heavier, not clumsier, not more tired. Okay, I am eating a bit more, but my appetite always fluctuates. That is nothing unusual. I had steak, potatos, and broccoli for dinner this evening. Mmmmm... how I love steak. That must be the hound in me.

Truth be told, I am just a bit nervous. I hope my body is suited for this form of birth. I went to an exam after I grew so long ago, and they said all of the parts were there. Still, I just hope it all works out. I'm just too excited to worry that much. Maybe once I start showing I'll get more concerned.

Oh, I think I've decided on colors for the baby's room! Okay, I did decide, and Nieva and I painted it yesterday. We both wore masks just so we wouldn't inhale the fumes. It is dark red on all four walls, and about two thirds of the way up is a gold stripe, then a white stripe, then another gold stripe, and then it is red to the ceiling. It looks very nice! I'm surprised at how beautifully it turned out!

Anyway, I feel like a snack. I think I saw some apples upstairs in the kitchen...

Preparations

Standing in the doorway to her baby's room, Kari heaved a major sigh. She still hadn't told her parents what was going on. She had shown them the room and told them it would be for storage, at least temporarily. They thought temporarily meant 'for a good long while.' Not 'for a few months.' Actually, it would still have some storage stuff, but not a whole lot. It had to fit the baby things after all.

"All right. Crib in that box, changing table in that one. Linens in that one and.... miscellaneous baby things over here," Nieva was saying, pointing at the boxes. "Need some help unpacking stuff?"

Kari was about to say 'no' on the principle that she didn't want Nieva to get too involved in case Mum and Dad reacted with fury. This was her baby that she had decided to have alone. Nieva need not get blamed for being an accessory after the fact. But.... it was too late for that. "Yes, I'd like that. Thanks," she said gratefully to her older sister as she walked over to begin unpacking the crib.

It took them the better part of the afternoon. Nieva refused to let her physically lift anything, so Kari had to use her gift to haul the heavier things around. She was tired and hungry by the time it was all done, but she was pleased by how it looked.

The crib was set up beneath one of the windows (which were placed very high on the wall. This was a basement, after all!) on the wall to the straight ahead of the door, and the changing table was on the opposite wall, just a few feet from the door itself. The rest of the room was fairly basic. Two nice little dressers, some baby toys and things in a box, and a stack of boxes in the one corner for storage of a variety of things. In all, it looked... complete.

"Not bad!" Nieva said. "I am hungry, though. Should we whip up something to eat?"

Kari nodded a bit, though her thoughts were really elsewhere. How could she keep hiding this from Mum and Dad? They would find out, and then what? "Yeah, yeah, let's eat," she said, pushing that thought from her mind. She didn't want to consider it. It almost frightened her.

Oh, I'm in trouble. No way around it. I am in trouble.

I didn't gain much weight for awhile. I showed a little, but wearing baggier clothes covered it up. No one in the house really noticed, not with Mum being so close to her time and with Tanith arriving. Oh, did I forget to mention that I got a new adopted sibling? She is quite strange.

But back to business. I'm huge.

Well, all right, maybe I'm not huge, but it is bigger than I ever thought I would get! Anybody looking at me can most definitely tell that I'm pregnant, and the baggier shirts only hide so much. Nieva knows, and Kayce knows. I'm surprised that Mum and Dad haven't caught on yet, but I'm not complaining. I still haven't found a good way to tell them. How do I break the news?

"Hey, congrats on the new baby! Oh, and by the way, I'm due to deliver soon too. You'll be grandparents!"

I can imagine how well that would go over.

Argh, I hate these cravings! I eat a well-balanced diet, and my kid wants me to eat more chocolate! Why chocolate? Now I know how Mum felt with Caleb and how she feels with this baby. Poor Mum!

And while I'm at it, poor me!

My ankles are swelling up, and my breasts are very swollen. I think it's time to go sit down in a more comfortable chair.

Breaking the News

"Hey, Mum? You have a minute?" Kari inquired, swallowing nervously as her mother looked up from where she was taking food out for lunch preparation. She flicked a hand and opened a separate cupboard, setting plates on the table with a deft concentration of power that made Amyla raise one eyebrow.

"Not that I mind the help, but is there something wrong?" her mother asked cautiously as she set the bread and cheese on the counter beside the stove. "You've been a little off."

The young adult Ancient nodded meekly and edged past her mother to open up the cabinet for a pan. Grilled cheese required a cooking pan, after all. "Yes, I've been... well, I need to talk to you and Dad. There's something you should know," she finally said, glancing at Amyla out of the corner of her eye. This was going to be rather awkward.

Amyla blanched. "Oh no... you aren't seeing that idiot from the office tha-"

"No, no, no!" Kari said quickly with a definite scowl. Ewww... how could her mother think she was dating that vampiric a**?! "No, I'm not dating anyone. And I think that's kind of why you're going to flip."

Her mother froze in mid-stride. "I'm not going to like this, am I?"

"I don't know," Kari replied as she put the pan on the stove and fished a knife out of the drawer to begin buttering the bread slices. "It's kind of major, but... well, I can handle it."

The refrigerator door very slowly closed, and Amyla turned around to watch Kari with wide eyes. "What... exactly do you-"

"I'm pregnant."

Kari cringed as she saw Amyla's eyes widen even further, and she managed a weak smile as the older woman leaned back against the counter for support.

"What the-... but... how?!" Amyla finally managed to squeak out. This was entirely unexpected. "And... and when? When's the baby due?"

"Remember the SMC? I found it a day before you guys did, but I got my appointment later," Kari said quietly as she turned on the stove burner beneath the pan and put the buttered slices on to begin cooking. "I'm... due any day now," she added, using her free hand to pull her T-shirt a little tighter and show her mother her obviously-distended abdomen.

Amyla had to sit down at the kitchen table and watch dumbly as Kari prepared lunch for the family. She couldn't move, could barely speak, and couldn't come up with a conscious, clear thought. Kari was pregnant? But she was just...

An adult? a nagging little voice in the back of her brain pointed out.

The mother sighed. Yes, she was an adult, and she was fully capable of undertaking this effort on her own. She had done it so far, and she was fine. But Kari... a mother?! And she herself... a grandmother?! Oh dear. This was just overwhelming. "Well, I suppose you're old enough to handle being a mother," was all she could get out, too shocked to say much else.

"Yes. I'm working steadily, so I can support a child. Nieva works out of the house, and she wants to babysit as much as possible. Kayce is curious about it, and Tanith is at least halfway interested in spending time with me and the baby. I'll be fine," Kari said, and Amyla realized with a shock just how old her very first child had gotten. She was grown-up, really and truly an adult, and it both frightened and excited Amyla. It was probably more exciting than frightening, though.

"Hmmm... well, I think congratulations are in order too," she said, getting to her feet and walking to the stove to give Kari a one-armed hug. This was going to be very, very awkward, but... somehow, it seemed quite nice at the same time, so long as she didn't think about the 'grandmother' part. "I think you'll make a good, if somewhat stubborn, mother."

"Learned from the best, Mum," Kari said, grinning up at her parent with elation and a great deal of relief. Well, that wasn't so bad. She had taken it rather well, all things considered. Maybe the reality just hadn't sunk in yet. That was probably it. "I'm going to have to tell Dad, huh?"

"Uhhhh... yeah!" Amyla said emphatically, eyebrows nearly disappearing into her hairline. Yes, yes, they would have to tell Aiodhan at some point. Oh dear. That could get very awkward. He wouldn't understand the female 'maternal insticts' and 'will to be a mother' things. And he would likely completely have a fit. "Maybe you'd better let me bring it up to him?"

Kari nodded. "Yes! I think that's a good idea," she said very emphatically, not willing to be the one who broke the news to him. She had actually been more worried that her mother would be mad, though her mother just fumed quietly when mad. Her father exploded. "Maybe after lunch when he's feeling better?"

"Good plan. I'll handle the stove. You go round up the kids for lunch, and tell Kayce if she doesn't come out that I'm confiscating her new dagger too!" Amyla said, finishing up making the grilled cheese and setting them to cook.

That made the Ancient snigger. "Sure!" Kari said before waddling out to go round up the family for lunch. One parent down, one to go. At least this was a start.

Now that it's apparent this baby is just not going to be born soon, I spent some time shopping for more baby clothes and picking out names. I like the name Markus for a boy and Evelia for a girl. I don't know about middle names, though. It'll come to me.

Kayce is very interested in the fact that the baby will be born soon. I've spent a lot of time with her and Tanith. Surprisingly, I didn't have to mediate as much as I thought I would. They did get angry when I beat them both at 'Monopoly', though. It comes with being older. And wiser.

I'm very tired. I really need to take a nap.

Don't Cry for Me... Evelia?

No sleep again... Kari lamented as she rolled onto her left side from her right, half-curling into a loose fetal position. She had been restless for several days, and it had made sleep very difficult. Her appetite was rather off, and she was just generally feeling like a slug. She didn't like it either, but she recognized it for what it was.

Her body was preparing for childbirth.

She hadn't been really sure how her body would react to this, but apparently it was doing just fine on its own. Uttering a massive yawn, Kari tried to settle down again into her pillow, ignoring the dull ache in her back and side.

Half an hour later, a cramping sensation ran across her belly. It only lasted for a minute, but it did grab her attention. Still, she passed it off as indigestion and tried to go back to sleep. Soon it became apparent, though, that the cramps were not going to go away. In fact, they were getting longer and more frequent.

Realizing she just was not going to be able to sleep at all, Kari irritably kicked back the covers and got to her feet. She sluggishly moved about, thoroughly irritated at the indigestion and her inability to get a good night's rest. What to do? She needed to pass the time somehow.

She finally decided a nice lukewarm bath would feel good, and indeed, it did. It didn't ease the cramps, but it did make her feel much less sluggish. It was so comfortable, in fact, that she stayed there until it went from lukewarm to cold. A glance at the digital clock on the sink said it had been an hour, and the Ancient rather reluctantly emptied the bathtub and moved to get up. She was only halfway up when one hard cramp seized hold of her, and she had to rather unceremoniously lower herself back into the now-empty tub until it passed.

Not indigestion! she thought as it finally passed, giving her stomach a gentle rub. Nope, she was finally in labor, and it was promising to be a long, long night.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Four hours later, Kari found herself back in a warm bath. Her water had broken an hour ago, and the contractions were now a regular every-five-minutes occurance. She was getting more tired and less cranky and really just wanted the whole ordeal done with.
Leaning her head back against the edge of the bathtub, the Ancient rubbed at her swollen and rippling belly, wishing the little child would just make up its mind and make its way out before she got too tired to push. Really, she was about ready to-
She exhaled massively as a contraction hit utterly out of rhythm, and she felt the most pecular wriggling sensation in the general area of where the baby should be emerging from. She leaned over and reached down only to find a little tail-- no, two little tails!-- wriggling about, just outside of her. She made a quick move to empty the bathtub. Just as the last of the water drained out, another massive contraction knocked her breathless, and the baby slid out, feet-first, right into her waiting hands.
It took her a second or two to get over the shock, but the baby-- a gorgeous little girl-- had no problems taking matters into her own hands. The girl wriggled once, coughed a bit, and then began to cry. Gathering her wits about her, Kari propped the girl up in her arms and stroked downwards on her nose to expel all of the fluid. She need not have worried. The girl was crying rather lustily and was showing no signs of easing.
Gingerly easing herself out of the tub, Kari managed to waddle over to the linen closet in the bathroom and yank herself out a towel. She had stashed a lot of older towels in there previously, in preparation, and they were now finally coming in handy. She wrapped her daughter-- such a beautiful phrase-- in a towel and held her close, still joined to her by the cord. It was a lovely opportunity to take a good look at the girl, though, who had finally stopped crying and was cuddled against her mother, now happily dry and warm.
She was green skinned and sported two tails, just like Kari, though the baby's were tipped in reddish fur (or was that little tiny flames? They didn't feel like flames). Her eyes were bright red, as was her hair and her little horn nubs. The surprising feature, though, was the pair of whitish wings sprouting from her shoulder blades. Interesting. Kari didn't have wings.
Settling the girl's body against her chest to warm her by skin-on-skin contact, Kari commenced wandering about the downstairs, wrapped up in her towel and carrying the similarly-wrapped baby. Baby.... she couldn't keep calling her baby. She needed a name.
An hour later, after the placenta was delivered, the cord was cut, and both of them were fully dressed, Kari was relaxing in the rocking chair, the girl nursing quietly and quiet contentedly. Still no name. She had considered so many names before, but none had really grabbed her. She fingered her daughter's pointed ears, reminded so much of her friend Evan. Evan.... hmmm... Evelia? she thought, then looked down at her daughter. "Evelia... Evelia... Circe, for the sorceress in Greek mythology," she murmured quietly. "Evelia Circe."
The girl-- no, her name was Evelia now-- didn't stop her nursing, but her tails did give a frantic wriggle, which Kari took to be a positive sign. Well, she liked it. Now she just had to introduce the little one to the family...
I am a mother now. It's both frightening and gratifying, and I love it. I get little sleep, I am very tired, and I still have much baby-weight to lose, but I am a mother. It's a wonderful occupation, I must confess.
Evelia is a beautiful little girl. She is curious and quite happy, liking to explore everything around her. Just now, she started giggling, and I looked over at her to see her playing with her toes whilst laying on her back. Silly child. I love just watching her and holding her. She is so very different from me, but I think that makes it all the better. I can't wait to show Evan. I know my childhood friend won't be overly thrilled, but Evie's cheerfulness is infectious. He can't stay mad at me for long with her cooing at him and trying to play with him... I think. He is a boy, after all, and boys are rather fickle. Not that Evie will care. She'll likely just try to play with him anyway.
I'm so tired! Evie needs feeding every few hours, not to mention it takes awhile to get her to sleep. The good news is that I'm still on maternity leave, so I don't have to worry about going into work anytime soon. I do sort of miss it, but I mail in my designs from home. And I received congratulations cards from several co-workers (including that strange vampire, whom I thought despised me and whom I despised), which makes me feel less solitary. Not that I've been alone at home. Kayce has been very curious about Evelia, and Nieva is constantly keeping Evie and I company.
But, I am tired. I need rest before I start getting cranky again. Nieva just announced that she is watching Evie while I nap, which is good. I could use a good hour or two of sleep.
