"Probably," Stephan agreed, still planning to sleep near the door for the first few days. True, he would have preferred to sleep in a nice warm bed with her, but he couldn't be sure he'd be as alert. Not only because he tended to sleep deeper with a woman, but also because her bedroom was further back in the apartment. Maybe he should install a deadbolt and an alarm, that might comfort her in the long run. "What about an alarm system, like the ones that contact the police when they're set off?" He suggested, "We could go look for one this week, and maybe a stronger lock." And of course, she'd need to start actually locking the door for it to help any. He was thinking in defensive mode now. "I can move in whenever you want, nothing's really keeping me staying in my apartment. You said he wouldn't be back around for a few days? He probably won't notice then, I'll leave my car parked out in front of this building for a while." It was true, it was better if a man broke in expecting just a woman, he might not have a weapon, but if he was expecting a man there to protect her... It could be bad. Hopefully his soul could wait a little while longer to come home.

"I like the alarm system idea," Remi concurred. "Considering the last time I came home to my locked apartment and found him inside half naked. I still haven't figured out how he got in."
Chloe couldn't even break her lock, which is why she was completely baffled when she found Thorn inside her apartment. She thought the apartment had been locked when she left, hence the reason it was locked on her return, but now she wasn't sure. Ever since Hadrian had warned her about Thorn's tendencies to just show up uninvited to apartments, she'd been pretty good about keeping things locked up.
"Yeah, Marc said they'd be gone for five to seven days, and it's been nearly four," she explained. "Since they're in Vegas I'm sure they'll probably stay for the whole week, but I can't be sure. I'm watching Haki while he's gone. Think you can stand two toddlers in one apartment?"
She said the last part playfully, knowing he knew Gavin was a bundle of excitement on his own. Throw Haki into the mix and...well, it'd been a long week for Remi for more reasons than just the whole Thorn issue.

"Ouch, two toddlers. I better move in tonight while there's still anything left of you," he laughed, giving her a kiss on the forehead. She was cheering up a bit, so he was less worried and much more calm. At least, his mind wasn't on the subject of beating the hell out of Thorn. Not unless he had to at least. It wouldn't be good for any of them if he was put in jail for assault. "I'm sure I'll be able to handle it fine."

Remi smiled, feeling much better than she had all week. She should have done this sooner, as it probably would have saved her a lot from a lot of worry and anxiety. At least from now on she could enter her own home without cautiously checking to see if any unwanted guests were inside first.
"Thank you." She wasn't sure what else to say. This had been the most help she'd gotten since this whole thing started. Marc was oblivious. Hadrian was in hiding. Chloe would probably laugh if she told her. Still, though she didn't have words she had something else he'd probably like just as much. She leaned up on her tiptoes to kiss him as a sign of gratitude. That was something else she missed too, having not seen him in a while.

When she got up on her tiptoes, he caught her in a hug, holding her up at his level. "Mmm, how about that hot chocolate now?" He asked, tacking another kiss onto the end of the question. Now he wouldn't break anything, and he was wanting something sweet. He was hungry too, but that could wait. Unless he ordered a pizza or something.

"Sounds good to me," Remi smiled when they broke the second kiss, her feet dangling above the floor. It was times like these that she considered being somewhat short both a curse and a blessing. On one hand, she had to do things like standing on the tips of her feet. On the other, she got hugs like this to make up for the height difference.
Hot chocolate was sounding really good right about now. Now that she'd been able to be truly calmed down for the first time in two weeks, sweet things sounded good. Of course, there was still a bit of anxiety in the back of her mind over what would happen when Thorn returned, but she didn't have to worry about that right now. Right now there was hot chocolate to be made.

"And maybe later I could order something?" He added, setting her back down on the ground. He wasn't really in the mood to go out, but he figured she might get hungry while she was still here. The hot chocolate was where he had left it, and now that he could concentrate it didn't take long for him to mix in the now boiled water and locate the marshmallows. It was too bad he didn't have any whipped cream. Making a mental note to get some next time, he stirred up both mugs, offering one to her, "Careful, the mugs are kind of hot."

"Sure," Remi brightened up at the prospect of food. She'd been too nervous before coming to eat with Haki and Gavin, but now that worry had passed she realized how hungry she actually was. "Pizza, take-out Chinese, I can do anything really."
Whipped cream or no, when the hot chocolate was ready she gratefully--yet carefully--took her own mug. She cautiously took a small sip, and even though anymore than a few drops would have burned her tongue, it felt nice to have something warm run through her system.
"So now that my drama over the past few weeks seems to be somewhat resolved," she started, feeling good enough to at least speak comfortably about her situation. "How've you been?"

He took a big sip of his own, it hurt but he needed the sugar, and shrugged, "Not much really, my sister Angie said she's transfering down here soon, some school about an hour from here. And I found this really nice lake about an hour and a half away, been looking into cabins. Always need the chance a nice quick vacation, right? Maybe spend weekends fishing." He leaned back against the counter, being careful not to bash his head on the counters. In the back of his mind he made another note, bring the counters up higher. And the hanging light.

Remi perked up again. Well things just seemed to be falling into place quite nicely now.
"Is she going to visit? I'd really like to meet her," Remi said with interest. Considering how much time she spent with Stephan, she was curious about the rest of his family. Unfortunately her own was quite a few hours away.
"Lake cabins are great," she took another sip. "I stayed in one once when I was younger, but my mom didn't like being out in the middle of no where so we didn't go back."
Something about the foliage and the dirt. Stupid reasons, in Remi's mind. At that age it was normal for her to come back covered in grime, so she'd loved it then. Heck, she still liked the outdoors even now.

"Probably, she doesn't like spending her time off on campus, something about running into her professors," He laughed, then thought of something, "Maybe we could all go down to the cabin sometime? Once I get the one I like and get all the papers and everything signed at least. She's loves jet skiing, so she wouldn't be whining or anything."

"I've yet to try jetskiing, but that still sounds like fun," she smiled. The most she'd done on her one cabin trip was fishing with her dad, but that had even been cut short when her mom had slipped off a log and into the water, demanding that they took her back to the cabin immediately. Remi had been wet too, but it was out of her own volition.
Part of her wished that she had money to spend on something like a cabin. She'd vaguely wondered about investing in a car, seeing as Gavin seemed to enjoy getting out of the apartment, but--if she did the math right--it'd take her at least two years before she could save up anything close to the amount she'd need. This made her wonder exactly how much money Stephan had in that trust fund he'd mentioned during their first meeting, but it'd be rude to ask so she kept quiet on that issue.

"You should, it's pretty fun once you get the hang of it. And learning if you've got a sense of humor," he laughed, remembering how he'd learned with his father doing circles around him. "I'd probably need a big car to haul luggage, lake stuff, people, maybe an SUV," he mused, not really liking the idea of a gas guzzler. At this rate he was going to end up with three cars, one of which he didn't particularly need if he got his convertible like he wanted.

Remi was intrigued, wondering exactly how he thought the learning process could be funny. She could sense there was a story behind that one.
"Luggage probably won't take up too much space. I could probably fit everything I needed for a week in a duffle bag," she said, trying to figure out how you would fit everything without an SUV. It always drove her mom and her friends nuts that she could only fill half a suitcase whenever she went anywhere. It wasn't that she didn't have clothes, but rather that she didn't need fifty different outfits for a weekend trip. "The other stuff, I dunno. Maybe you could borrow a friend's car?"
She obviously didn't have one, but maybe he knew someone nearby that did. Or better, someone at the compound would willingly give one up for a few days.
"But you've made me curious now. How did you learn to jetski?"

"Don't really have many friends around here. But the jetski thing. Basically my dad took me about thirty miles down the river we used to live on, escorted me for a mile or so, going circles around me and making snarky comments, and then he took off and left me there," he laughed, shrugging his shoulders. He took another sip of his hot chocolate, now much cooler, "Took me about nine hours to get home, but I learned." Cracking a smile he added, "I wouldn't teach you that way though, kind of harsh."
