Well to be technical, the best group is one that consists of excellent final limit breaks. Cloud has Omnislash, Cid has Highwind, and Barret has Catastrophe, these are the 3 best, the two worst are Vincents Chaos and Cait Siths damn toy box. The reason a best party should be based with these characters is because limits breaks are a necessity to help take out tougher bosses.

I'd say Cid, Barret, and Cloud, purely because their Extreme Limits are multi-hit, and are excellent for single opponents

I rarely use limit breaks (I just get them because, well, it's an accomplishment to have every limit on every character ^_^). And 'Cait Sith's damn toy box (I assume you mean Slots)' can be the most helpful limit in the game, if you're good at it. If you can get 3 kitties, it does a sudden death attack that could even take out Emerald in one hit. I'd say Yuffie's is pretty bad, myself, since it only attacks each opponent one time for a maximum of 9999 damage per enemy, but eh, that's just me smile

it really depends on your preferance. If you like long range attacks, or quick characters, blah blah blah. And also how you level. I leveled Tifa and Yuffie way more tahn anyone else and they kicked a**.
but one of my friends used Vincent and RedXIII and kicked a** with them. There is no better characters.

I use Cloud, Vincent, and my favorite, Cait Sith(yes Cait Sith is my all time favorite person I love his limit breaks)

I always have Cloud, Barret, and Tifa. Sometimes I use Yuffie or Vincent in place of Barret though. I like using Tifa's slot limit XD Yuffie's mini-omnislash thing is really cool too.

I might not be the person to ask, but I think that the best team would depend on the circumstances. Also, how most people on dogging Kait Sith (forgive my horrible spelling with its name), it may depend on how much the gamer levels 'im up.
Personally, one my favs would have to be Vincent Valentine--I just heard his background story, and I felt sorry for the guy. I would certainly glomp him if the chance arose. Then again, I'd likely be the one to be instantly beheaded by Sepheroth for giving said villain a wedgy.

Cloud, Vincent, Yuffie. Cloud obviously, Vincent for his pure pwnage final weapon and transformations, Yuffie because she's a friggin' ninja.
Maybe not the greatest team, but their the coolest in my book.
