Bran's voice grew insistent as Trio approached the Medium, looking to her and jabbering loudly before his eyes went back to the Medium. Trio murmured softly to hush him, but couldn't quite seem to manage it.

"Actually," the demon offered, "I thought I'd ask a few obvious questions, perform the Aristocrats, then immolate myself in a ritual ceremony while skyclad. This necklace found me just a little while ago, and Trio mentioned it seemed to be the same kind of necklace that Bran came from, and that I should come speak to you. Would you be willing to explain what I should expect and prepare for?"

"You realize you could have asked her and saved me the trouble of having to deal with your useless waste of space and talked to the blonde, right?" she asked, obviously not amused by the sarcasm offered.

"Personally, I firmly believe in getting information as close to the horse's... mouth... as possible," Trio said, a faint glint in her eyes, though it wasn't entirely clear if it was challenge or amusement. Certainly, the blonde seemed distracted by the child now determined to throw himself out of her arms... literally!

The a**' mouth, in this case, Abishai shot to Trio on a tight mental band, though his expression merely smoothed into a serene smile. "And besides, had I just spoken to Trio about it, I wouldn't have had the chance to indulge in your lovely company."

"I see. Well, your beliefs are wrong, but whatever suits your fancy..." her eyes narrowed in on Abishai, "It's a boy. He is Faith. He fell. He's sucking your life force. He'll crack. You get a baby. With wings. Like that."
Evidently, the woman had noticed Bran because her finger was pointing at the child who was being a little brat, "Though they should be called brats. Not babies."

Trio's poleaxed look at the telepathic comment was quickly replaced by indignant irritation. "Excuse me?" she demanded, while Bran reached out to catch that finger. His fingers closed around it, gripping with the surprising strength of most infants, and immediately, the jabbering faded into a happy coo.

Reverie tucked himself closer to his father, rolling an angry gaze at the Medium. He'd apparently picked up on Trio's indignation. Abishai, however, merely eyed the woman, one brow raised. "By your lack of explanation, I have to assume you know nothing about why these babies -- " Not brats. " -- come to us or why they fell, or what we can do to help them beyond taking care of their usual needs."

"Of course I do," she smiled, though that smile was more creepy than how she looked otherwise, "Perhaps I just don't feel like wasting my breath when I've already explained it to more than enough people. Ask them."
Pissier mood than usual, Medi was.
"And you heard me, blondie."

"One, the name is TRIO," came the woman's immediate response, the words as bristlingly furious as Bran's laughter was cheerful. "And two, if this is your job, to ensure that the children are safe and sound, then you can damned well do it."
Bran noticed the tone, turning to peer at Trio curiously for a moment before gumming a couple unintelligible words at Medi and tugging on her finger.

Abishai stepped forward just a bit, until his shoulder was just slightly in front of Trio's. "How do you know the information I get from someone else is accurate? What if it's inaccurate, and the resulting misinformation leads to the baby dying? The fault would rest on you, not that person, because you can't be bothered to do your job."

She snorted, "Just don't take the necklace off and don't let it know what it is. They fell because they made a mistake. They screwed up. This is their second chance."
Her eyes narrowed as she noticed the baby clinging to her finger, "Hope cracked, I see."
God, I hate children. she thought, glaring at the brightly colored Iridae. Why did she have to cater to them?

She may hate children, but Bran certainly seemed to like her. He shifted in Trio's arms, trying to throw himself toward Medi. Trio opened her mouth to say something, then snapped it shut as she held onto him, not letting him fall. Instead, she contented herself with glaring balefully.

"Wonder what your mistake was," Abishai mused towards the Medium, then turned and reached an arm out to guide Trio out of the building. "Probably something to do with injecting acid into your veins."
