I tend to read just about anything, but lately I've found that I enjoy reading historical fiction and biographies.
Although I will always love reading profiling books. Mom got me the Chronicle of Crime for Christmas. I'm feeling the love. 3nodding

Oiseau De Mort It's so hard to pick a favorite, I probably have a favorite book or two that falls under each genre. Lately I've been very into Stephen King books, while they're not exactly considered classics, I get immense thrills and fun out of them. My favorite kind is probably fiction, though I love a good non-fiction any day too. sweatdrop It's just too hard to decide. You rule. True, Stephen King doesn't write classic, but I have yet to find a book more enjoyable to read. You should read Pet Sematary (yes, that is the right spelling of the book).

I don't really have a favorite 'type' of books--I tend to read anything and everything in the vicinity with the exception of photo-intensive books full of gore and pornography, because (quite simply) neither especially strikes my fancy.
Recently, I've found myself delving into translations of classical Japanese books (mostly anthologies of court poetry or books about Zen, simply because it was hard for me to get my hands on much else, with several notable exceptions). I've also been reading more books about medicine lately. And of course fantasy has always been a favorite, whether modern-day or otherwise.

Drowtung My favorite type of book is anything that is considered an essential classic. Well, as opposed to Drowtung, I really never read classics. I like to read any kind of book, really, I am very non-judgemental, but I never read the classics, just because, I think that they are too complicated. I like to read bokks that have been published within the last 30 years.

YomikoReadmanPaper I love all books. To me one book is never better than another. I do not judge books. I read them. If they are popular or not I don't care. I will read until there are dare I say it...no more books to be read. i concur

Well, since we are being specific...fantasy fiction is my favorite. (i dont think there is fantasy non-fiction that would be weird if there was.)

Well my Mom, Kat my older sister, and my grandmother all like to read romance novels. Mostly the really hardcore ones... xp I like a little romance in a book once in a while, but I really don''t like reading about people having sex... stare So I obviously get my reading preferences from my father. Dad and I like to read Science and Fantasy Fiction. He introduced me to my favorite authors... Piers Anthony, Anne McCaffrey, Terry Brooks, and David Eddings. My absolute favorite novels to read are Piers Anthony''s Xanth series. I love the puns. He gets a lot of letters saying that he has too many puns, but it just wouldn't be Xanth without them! whee I own and have read all of the books in the series up to Cube Route. I remember the first one I read was The Color Of Her Panties. xd Dad started my "library" years and years ago by giving me all the books he owned. He likes to borrow them from me all the time though. So does my good friend Wes. But they're the only two people I let borrow my books, because I know they take very good care of them and I always get them back. smile I let my oldest sister Bonnie borrow two of my Harry Potter books almost two years ago and never got them back. She has three small kids who tear up her things all the time, so I wouldn''t be suprised if that''s what happened to them... mad Now she keeps asking me to borrow The Half-Blood Prince! Yeah right! I waited in Wal-Mart for an hour after midnight to get it when it came out. She's not going to get it, cause my neices would exclaim it up.

Historical fiction is my ultimate favorite. ..But I'm very picky. It can be anything, any time period, up to about 1600. Then it gets to be too modern and boring.
I used to say I liked fantasy, and I still do, but I've gotten exceptionally picky about that too. I don't like high fantasy. I hate all the different worlds. I HAVE to know where the characters are compared to the rest of their world, and I just have problems with the 'otherworld' things.
Oh, and I love the new craze of historical-intellectual stuff, like Da Vinci Code and junk. Those are supercool too.

If you're into Ancient Egypt the Lord Meren mysteries by Lynda Robinson are pretty good. I've read the first three novels so far. They take place during the reign of Tutankhamen. I can't wait until I have all this college work over with so I can read the rest of them.
