"Maybe..." Etain responded shiftily, fingers gripping the stick and the keys tighter. "Maybe he will be."
Tovar seemed nervous about Leith, and that's really Etain knew on the subject matter. It had taken some seriously corraling for his guardian to let him take Leith to the trees, and Etain had to wonder if it would be the same when his little brother was a proper baby rather than just some floaty thing that didn't say or do anything particularly interesting.
"I...I should go," he said finally, fidgetting nervously. "It was...n-nice meeting you, er, Donat." He hesitated, fumbling with the keys. They jingled, the sound far to pleasant for the situation at hand. "Can I g-go now?"

Though Donat looked a bit disappointed, he nodded a little and waved to Etain. "I wanna see you again sometime," Donat told him. "But yeah, if you have to go home. Bye-bye." He pouted slightly and waved a four-fingered hand.

Etain nodded. "Donat," he repeated, shoving the name and the boy's appearance into his memory. "I-I'll see you again," he assured. After all, the little boy himself seemed nice and friendly - determined, Etain liked that - and it really wasn't his fault that his daddy made his skin crawl and his eyes hurt and his nose feel all itchy like something smelled wrong. Usually he would have tolerated it, if only to play with the little boy, but...
He'd been so close and this adult seemed... - there was something intensely off about him, like the man had been playing in odd smelling mud that no one else could see or smell. Etain wrinkled his nose unconsciously, glancing up from the ground to Donat.
"B-bye," he managed before, with a rustle and crackle of leaves, he shoved through the back of the hedge and took off at a run toward the place where he'd left Tovar.
