Billy wasn't too hard to understand, considering Nita was used to Alec's accent and enormous mouth full of teeth. She strained to hear him, though, almost missing his question in the midst of her own shock.

"Yeah," she said. "A couple of times. First time, you yelled at me, and the other time you were picking s**t up off your lawn."

He nodded, once again trying to sit up, but failed. "It's 'peem a rough ride. Sorry if I aint ver' good at bein' social." He seemed embarassed, anxious and nervious underneith his collected exterior. He needed to get back to his Duplex. The octopus craved his territory and Billy craved to not be looked at just then, but he could bearly move.

"Hmm," Nita said softly. "Thanks for apologizing, I guess. I do know it's tough around here..." Her voice trailed off and she let herself look more carefully at Billy. "Your duplex is one of these close ones, right? You should probably get into some water." With the major crisis over, Nita could finally think of the practical side of the situation. And even though she didn't particularly like Billy any better, he was being screwed over by a damned awful transformation; it just wasn't in her to leave him stranded on the road.

He made a little noise in t he back of his throat as he flopped, tentacles wrything and slithering over eachother as he tried to make sence of his limbs as they stood now, managing to roll over onto his belly at the very least. His spiny fins quivered, his skin splothing in agitation. He seemed intent on trying to at least crawl back, despite his lack of legs as he groped for his fallen crutches with a couple trembling tentacles.

Nita made as if to help Billy stand.. or.. whatever he would end up doing but the all-too-recent memory of the feeling of his tentacles wrapped around her made her shudder violently. She stayed a couple feet away from him, eyeing his limbs dubiously. Once the girl was sure Billy was safely home, she would be more than ready to flee towards her duplex for a shower. A really long, hot shower.

But he thrashed a tentacle with an angered snarl, "Gerroff'me! I don' need yer help!" The crutches would do no good, but he seemed intent to drag himself back over, gasping and sputtering for air miserably.

Nita stepped back farther, even though she hadn't actually touched him. She didn't want to hover and piss him off, but she did want to make sure he would be okay. Hopefully he really would be able to make it on his own, since Nita didn't know what use she actually could be if he needed someone to lean on. At least she was willing to try.

He managed to drag himself through the gravel a few feet befor he was too out of breath, his face a few inches from the dirt. s**t. But no. He could do it. He could go back to his damn home himself. Moureau was watching- he knew he was watching. Of course he was watching. He was always ******** watching. "SURE Y'LAUGH!" He screamed up at the hidden cameras he knew had to be placed everywhere, "But y'won'.... be laughin'.... ferever, Doc!!"

The red panda girl followed Billy slowly, rather impressed by his tenacity. She flinched when he started screaming, looking nervously around for the cameras. His rage was justified, and if Moreau was really laughing... Nita pushed the thought away. This was no time to deal with issues of morality.

With every passing moment, she could feel the black ink drying on her fur, causing it to stick up in little tufts. Nita scrubbed at her face nervously, which only served to spread the sticky stuff to her hands. She shuddered, wanting more and more to flee the scene.

Jes'... leave me be-" He growled, panting still as he resituated to try crawling again. He had to get to the grass. The pebbles were harsh on his sensitive stomach. Water... he needed water. "I can do it!" Grab the ground, grab the ground, tug, grab the ground tug, inches at a time. He couldn't breath.

Nita bit her lip, torn between wanting to help in any way she could and her strong desire to get the hell away. She took a single step closer, pitying the man dragging himself like a wounded animal. And like a wounded animal, he would rather attack her than let her get near. "I'm sorry," she said softly, ears lying back against her head.

He made a sudden hissing noise, twisting his head for ink to suddenly spray from his mouth at her in a black, water-pistol-like repetitive squirt. "Away from me!"

This time, at least, Nita recognized the warning signs and jumped backwards with an indignant squawk. The ink fell short, only splattering her feet. That was the last straw. She glared and fled into the night, muttering something about 'damned ungrateful octopuses' under her breath.
