-whip- Go, slave!

I first heard them about 5 or 6 years ago; I was around 9 or 10. First song I heard was Obstacle 1. I heard it in a store in New York.
im sorry i didn't realize(sp)? um.........i won't make the same mistake again 3nodding

well, i first discovered them on the radio. it was slow hands and i really liked it. the drumming was really what got me into it really. it was really awesome! 4laugh

hooray for overusing the word really pirate AAARRRGGHHH!!!

It's alright! Don't worry about it! heart
Slow Hands is the shiz.
It didn't get much radio-play, though. :/ Stupid mainstream music and your stupid contracts.

I overuse "very."
I mean, a lot.
Very very much! :'D
in my radio station it used too also evil got a lot of play. i cannot believe that i didn't like evil when i first heard it. it really scares me, but then i listened to the whole thing and i was hooked.hooray for overused words!!!!! xd

I didn't think the video was scary at all!
I fell in love with the puppet. [The IMB have dubbed him Norman.]
I thought he was adorable. heart

It is a scary song, however. It's the bass line. It's sinister and mysterious.

My sister's friends just loved finding new Indie artists. They found Interpol and Turn On The Bright Lights and gave my sister some of their music. I took action to hear that CD, and soon I was in love.

I was looking to see if The Hives had anymore albums I didn't have yet, they didn't. Suddenly at the airport I saw a gigantic white case. No one had bought a single copy. You look at the CD rack and see a gigantic wall of white CD's. I looked at one and read the bold words, "INTERPOL ANTICS". At the time they clicked in my mind as the two greatest words of all time. I bought the CD. I had no clue who Interpol was or what they sounded like. I listened it on the plane ride from Tokyo to El Paso.

I mentioned this in another thread...but, I'll say it again here.

Whenever my brother would play TOTBL, I could always hear it because his room's right next to mine. I would love every spare note that I would happen to catch. I didn't know who they were, where they were from or if they were even a new band or not--nor did I care, because all I was concerned about was how good they were. I think the times I really, REALLY payed attention was when PDA came on. I'd always hum along as best as I could, 'cause there was and is something about that song that makes me ******** happy. I would continually say to myself 'These cats are ******** cool.', but I don't honestly remember when the hell I listened to them for myself. I know it wasn't long after, though...because once I had gotten a taste for the 'pol, I knew I had to have more.

PDA has the best symphonic solo I've ever heard.
Or one of the best.
That song makes me want to do something amazing.

I remember the EXACT moment that I first heard Interpol. It was nearing Christmas, and all Dish Network users received a limited time free view of certain Sirius radio stations. I was flipping through trying to find something that fit my fancy, and low and behold, I heard "Evil". The song REALLY caught my eye, but I didn't become a hardcore Interpol fan till a few months ago. I get a permanent view of XM radio stations thanks to the miracle of Direct TV, and I heard "Narc" on the station Ethel. Oh, how I do love that song. They later played "NYC". And that's where the addiction all began. rofl 4laugh

My story is a little odd.

When I was a junior in high school, I was killing time before I had to go back and perform in the school play one Saturday morning. I walked to the local CVS and happened to be perusing the magazine section when a copy of SPIN magazine with the guys on the cover caught my eye. I heard of them randomly, probably from my Latin teacher or something, and I bought the magazine because Carlos was lookin' fine and it had a free CD attached to it. I read the article, listened to the CD, which turned out to be a Matador sampler with "Evil" on it. The first time I heard "Evil" I wasn't impressed, but the second time I was like "Wow, the bass line is simple, yet catchy and the vocalist has a nice tone" I bought Antics a few weeks later, then TOTBL a week after that. I am now hooked and with the joy of Ethernet in my dorm room, I was able to track down copies of "5", "Cut the Rope/Cutthroat", "Specialist", and "Precipitate". Yay. biggrin heart

I first heard them in a skate video actually. This skater, Brian Anderson, used Obstacle 1 for his part, and I just loved it. Loved it. Ever since they've been on my top 3 list. Probably always will be.

When did I first hear of Interpol...

One day when I was fixing my hair in the bathroom, I heard some song on the TV. I liked how it sounded, so I walked out and only saw the last part of the song. It was the video for Slow Hands. I tried to figure out who it was, but I missed the end credits. So I ended up waiting for that video to come on again, for weeks. =o They didn't show the video that much. ><

Well, I kept them in my thoughts for a long time. Finally, one day, a commercial for the CD antics came on, with clips from the Evil music video. I heard the name of the band, and was like, "Hey! That's the band I was looking for!" Or something like that. xD So now, I had the name.

I went out and bought the CD, Antics. I loved it! So I went back to the store, hoping to find another CD by them, and to my surprise, there was another! Turn On The Bright Lights. I was ready to buy all of their CD's, but only 2 were there. Haha, I didn't know anything about Interpol at this time, so I thought that they might have more CD's. xD;;

I fell in love with them very quickly.

Interpol is at the top, for me. ^_^
