"Why wouldn't you call us friends?" Hikaro peered at Ryo, and the other who joined him. "We met, didn't we? Is there much more to that?" The blonde boy smiled at Ryo, a really disarmingly sweet smile.

"Hold on, I'll see if I can find something I can use." Hikaro said to Kyuu, before dashing off, his footsteps light and airy. What to use, what to use? Inspiration! He ran into the bathroom and bingo! A janitor had left a mop. It was plastic, sure, but the right size.

He grabbed it, and twisted it free of the moppy-thingie itself. Doing this gave him pause. Would his father approve of his learning to fight? Hikaro bit his lip. Best to ask.

Makeshift staff in hand, he rushed over to where Dian had finally resumed reading. "Father...?" He asked quietly, to which Dian made an affirmative noise.
"Is it alright if Kyuu teaches me some moves?" Hikaro looked hopeful at his father, who looked back up at him.
"Only if you use what he teaches you responsibly. If I find you picking fights..."
"I won't! I swear I won't!" Hikaro was so eager to go, he was shivering.
"Alright, but if it gets too rough, stop. No iffs, ands, or buts. Okay?"
"Okaythanksamillionbye!" Hikaro said, and sped back to Kyuu, all fire and anticipation in his eyes.

"I'm ready!"

Kyuu looked at the boy's hand for a moment, then simply shrugged it off, his older siblings had worse scars, especially his oldest brother, Ramiro, he was missing his wings, his arm, and one of his eyes. Come to think of it, he was probably one of the reason's Ul insisted on teaching him some offensive moves.

Oh well, he took a basic offensive stance, his left leg slightly bent and stretched out, his right knee bent and a few inches back, the staff balanced diagonally in his hands.

Hikaro didn't even notice, he was busy eyeing Kyuu, and trying to copy the stance. He balanced the mopstick diagonally, but due to his height, it seemed a little long. His stance was a little off, but it was alright.

He hadn't seen Kyuu sparring earlier, but was confident the older boy wouldn't hurt him, or...hurt him too badly anyway. His tolerance for pain was moderate, but it certainly wouldn't please his father, who was a total worry.

"Okay, what next?" He asked, taking a deep breath.

Kyuu slid his hands to the center of the staff and held it out, spinning it around a few times, more for effect than any real use. "Just move your hands like this" he explained, showing the boy the motions again.

Hikaro stared hard at his hands, making sure he noted every motion. Then, he stared at his own, and willed them to move--they did. Joyous, he started spinning the staff, getting the 'whoosh whoosh' noise he loved so very very much.

Crack! Hikaro had gotten distracted by the whirring noise and smacked himself right across the jaw. Stunned, he staggered back, but kept a firm grip on the staff.

Dian was instantly on his feet, but he sat back down when Hika began shouting "I'm okay! I'm okay!" The boy already knew too well...

Hikaro rubbed his jaw. "I think my hand slipped, did you see?"

((I would find it odd indeed, but Hika didn't notice the scar.))

Kyuu tried not to laugh as he turned to face the boys, his staff once again balanced on his shoulder, "Maybe it would be better if someone more experienced than me taught you."

Ryo climbed up into a tree. "Riddle taught me. He said it's easy, you just have to know how. Riddle spends a lot of time in trees though," Ryo said.
