wellwisher
ok umm anyways back to the topic. i have tried and a solid black astually works pretty well if you use enough "deal damage equal to_____" and of course if you can play 2 FP in the same turn then f damage becomes lethal.
Here's a deck I'm making up as I type. It should work pretty well, despite its budget status:
4x Lightning Bolt
4x Slith Firewalker
4x Skullscorch
4x Mogg Fanatic
4x Ball Lightning
4x Blistering Firecat
4x Browbeat
4x Jackal Pup
4x Final Punishment
4x Diabolic Intent
4x Lotus Petal
8x Mountain
4x Swamp
4x Bloodstained Mire
There's a deck that doesn't cost much in both terms of money and mana (the Final Punishment has the highest mana cost of them all), and it deals out a ton of damage. It will probably win by turn 5 every single game, with or without the Final Punishment, so long as you play it right.
How to play the deck:
Each turn, drop a land. Every time. If you have a Mire, drop it and search for whichever land you need the most right then. Next, drop a Lotus Petal if you have it. Then, if you have Browbeat and can play it, do play it. If they take 5, they're dead in a few turns. If they let you draw 3 cards, they're dead in a few turns. See how that works? Similar idea for Skullscorch. Either they take lots of damage, or they lose two cards at random. Either way hurts a lot.
What creature to play when: (Play the first one you have for each given mana slot.)
1 mana: Jackal Pup, Mogg Fanatic,
2 mana: Slith Firewalker, Jackal Pup + Jackal Pup, Jackal Pup + Mogg Fanatic, Mogg Fanatic + Mogg Fanatic
3 mana: Slith Firewalker + Jackal Pup, Jackal Pup + Jackal Pup + Jackal Pup, Ball Lightning, Slith Firewalker + Mogg Fanatic, Jackal Pup + Jackal Pup + Mogg Fanatic, Jackal Pup + Mogg Fanatic + Mogg Fanatic, Mogg Fanatic + Mogg Fanatic + Mogg Fanatic
4 mana: Slith Firewalker + Slith Firewalker, 4x Jackal Pup, Slith Firewalker + 2x Jackal Pup, Blistering Firecat, Ball Lightning + Jackal Pup, Ball Lightning + Mogg Fanatic, Slith Firewalker + 2x Mogg Fanatic . . .
And so forth. Slith Firewalker is the best creature you can play unless you can land a death blow with Firecat or Ball Lightning. If you can land the death blow, always do it then.
Rule on Lightning Bolt and Diabolic Intent: Play them at the end of your opponent's turn unless you can use it to land the death blow then and there.
Rule on Final Punishment: If you attack for 6 or more, use the Final Punishment.
Fun trick: if you have both a Firecat and a Final Punishment in hand by turn three, play the Firecat morphed for 3. Continue to beat them down little by little. Turn 7 (or sooner with Lotus Petals), flip the Firecat, attack with it, and play Final Punishment. 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 14 = 22, more than enough to win. Also, that doesn't even need any card other than Blistering Firecat and Final Punishment, so it's insanely easy to pull off. More than likely, though, you're going to have killed them before this.
I hope this has helped. Also, I'm sorry if the deck is outside of your price range. sweatdrop I tend to go by "Doesn't have Power 9 cards" as budget if there's none given.
