The lioness pawed at the ground infront of her, looking at the lack of life that was there...that was in most of the Southlands. Of coruse the grasses and trees and such were alive, but it wasn't overflowing with life. So something like the jungle was still hard for her to grasp onto...but it did give a little kick in her wanderlust, which had been dormant for years.
Nyota hadn't a clue what ran through his mind, she was just thinking along the same terms as him. She wanted a friend, but was never quite good at holding onto them. And love? Feh, she'd given up on that idea long ago, while she was still an adolescent. The thought never crossed her mind anymore.
She did feel a flash of warmth when he complimented her name. She had heard it plenty of times before, but the fact that he obviously hadn't was a pleasure all her own. Perhaps it was just a common name for lions. She had certainly never heard a name like his before.
With all these thoughts flowing through her mind, she had become a bit more awake then when Amri first found her. But when she caught the manner that he yawned, she felt a bit ashamed. Here she was, questioning this new companion of hers, and he was tired from his travels!
Fighting the urge to question him about actually living in trees (something that just made her mind tick even more with how the life outside could be), she gave a soft smile, just barely seen by the moonlight.
"Here I am being rude, keeping you awake when you must be tired....you've probably been traveling for such a time." She gave off her own sigh, still feeling a bit ashamed. "Perhaps you could sleep here tonight, and I could guide you through the parts of these lands that I know of tomorrow. If...if that would be alright with you. I am curious to hear more about this jungle, and how you lived in trees." She was covering the fact that she just wanted to spend a little more time with him. He was a curious fellow, and in her mind, that was reason enough. Plus he was kind and careful with her, she noticed, and she liked that in him.
She lowered her head on the ground, giving him once last glance before closering her eyes, trying to will herself to sleep.

Shifting, he watched as she made all of her movements, still engrossed at the fact that she was a lioness and he had yet to meet any. That is, had yet to meet any in his mentality, but he couldn't say the same for Mafujo.
When she spoke up, he couldn't help but let out a soft laugh, and lifted his paw to wave it at her dismissivly, "There is no need to worry, you have done nothing wrong," Shifting to his feet, he watched as she lied down and appeared to fall asleep, before his eyes searched the area around him.
Padding up to the lone tree, he moved to lean against it, almost reminded of home save for the dry air around him. Curling into a silver ball in the shadows, he could not see her face, but her breathing keyed she was asleep. Or maybe he was wrong, but he doubted it at the moment.
"Run while you still can..." He whispered softly, his pink eyes filled with sorrow before he closed them tightly and drifted into the darkness.
