Alexandra opened the main door to the library, weary and wounded. She had finally made her way here, alone; Harry had pledged to guard Celeste with his life and she wasn't going to retreat to the Library anyway. Alex made it to a chair before collapsing, falling out of it and onto the floor, the black glob on her face slowly spreading, stinging like acid.

Profet emerged from the back room and looked upon the panting drake. "What has happened to you Alexandra?" She asked in a worried tone. Her eyes caught sight of the black on her face and her eyes became fearful. "He's broken loose hasen't he?"

Alex looked up at Profet and nodded slowly, defiance still in her eyes though she couldn't hardly put up a fight.

Harry and Draco . . . scythe . . . Nightshade Fields . . . she said, stumbling over her words but getting enough across, or at least she hoped.

Profet nodded, her expression grim. "I see that he touched you. His hands hold toxins. There is a bathroom in the guest hall. You have to get that off before it burns all the way through. I will go see how I can help your brother and Draco. For now you should rest, there are beds in the back room." She said. She headed for the entrance of the cave and then with one last look at Alex she headed down the mountain.

It took Alex at least ten minutes of lying on the floor to catch her breath enough to try and figure out where a Library would have a guest hall. Finally, she got up and found it and began to wash off the black stuff, with a towel, of course; she couldn't have the toxin spreading to her hands.

Her skin was raw and even bleeding in a few spots when she finally got all traces of it off, and she sighed. Her beautiful face . . . crinkled and wrinkled prematurely. She sighed and decided to see what the rest of the damages were.

She was badly bruised, to say the least. A large bruise with blue, purple, black, and a faint tinge of green was on her left side and a few other bruises, none as serious, were on other places of her body. She sighed. She had to be able to get herself to fight! Well, this was a Library, wasn't it? It had to have some books on healing somewhere . . .

(( An hour later ))

Alex had been absorbed in this current book for the last twenty minutes. She had finally found something that would accelerate the healing of her brusises, and to take the pain from her face. The ingredients for the poultice were simple and, as she suspected, this 'Library' had a kitchen as well. It wasn't long before she had made herself a poultice and, with a few scraps of clean linnen, she had bandaged her side and face. Now . . . those beds sounded rather inviting . . . she'd sleep for only a few hours and then go out and see what she could do to help.

((In a dream . . . ))

She was walking alone through the Nightshade Fields, though the Shadowdome, which in consciousness she did not know had been created, was visible even from here. She stared up at the Darsuin mountains helplessly; could the dragon there possibly aide them? She began to climb up the foothills and soon got into the rockier regions when her feet slipped out from underneath her. Her hands flailed for something to hold onto and, by some miracle, they found a hand of dark blue grasping them. Alex looked up to find Bastien in the mountains, and he had saved her from certain death. She gazed up at him wordlessly; she had no clue what to say. He had been gone a very long time.

"My journey is not yet complete," he said softly, pulling her back up onto the ledge. His face was drawn with worry. "But there are more important things at stake here. I will join in the battle against Dassan, but afterwards, I must continue my journey," he said simply as he began to lead her down the mountain path. She followed without saying a word. She didn't ask where he had been, or anything. She just . . . accepted his presence somehow.

Bastien had gone to the Library, as the dragon had told him to, not to take shelter, but to aide one he would find there. Never had he thought that it would be his own sister. Yes, the wounds had healed for Bastien, and he now looked upon the bandaged face of his sister, her complexion slightly more pale than normal. He held her hand at her bedside and waited for her to wake, but apparently he had woken her with that simple action.

Then . . . the dream was real? she asked softly, her visible eye wide with wonder. Bastien shook his head.

Somewhat Bastien replied softly, noticing the stiffness in her side. He frowned. The dragon sent you that dream to prepare you for my return . . . but I must leave again, once this is all settled out. My journey has just begun . . . I trust Flor is well? he asked, changing the subject quite swiftly.

Alex stared up at him, pushing herself somewhat painfully into a sitting position. How do you know about Flor? she asked, her eyes confused.

Bastien smiled. I was in the dragon's den when he brought her back from Home. She was wounded and scared; Tornando confronted me in the Nightshade Fields when I went to bring her to you, and said that I would not be allowed to see you as long as he had anything to do about it, that I had been too much of a worry and a pain for you. She did make it to you? he asked, his tone suddenly worried. Alex nodded.

Yes . . . yes she did, through Harry she answered, unsure of how the transfer had been made. She shrugged. She's a bit anti-social, which worries me some, but she seems to be doing alright . . . one of Tornando's daughters, Elysia, has been spying on her and says that she might be finding a mate soon, Ewiges . . . you remember him? she asked softly, still stunned by his return and just making small talk.

Bastien shrugged. Not really. But still, glad to know she made it safely he said, rising to his feet to pace softly.

This . . . Dassan . . . he has called a tournament. The Auradome is gone; vanished, replaced by his own Shadowdome. I intend to enter, and I don't think I could stop you entering either, despite your injuries. Flor, however, I forbid to enter for personal reasons. I know her story more than any of you, it would seem, and she will not be fighting him. he said, pacing around the room slowly. Alex watched him with worried eyes.

A lot has happened since you left . . . I'm a . . . mother, of sorts . . . surrogate, adopted, whatever you shall call it, but I have a daughter, a Lunar daughter, named Celeste. And . . . Harry has two twin Shimmer boys, Aiden and Kaiden. Tornando has three children, Elysia, Talen, and Gabriella. The number of Drakes available to fight has grown indeed . . . she said, trying to fill him in at least a little on current events. Bastien turned and looked at her.

But still no mate for the beautiful Alex? he asked, his tone slightly sarcastic.

Alex cringed and put her hand over the bandage. Surely he hadn't meant to be cruel . . . she swallowed and continued. If we all make it through this alive . . . then I might still have one . . . if he can bear to look at me . . . she said, turning away from him suddenly and finding her feet with ease. The poultices had worked well, at least the one for her brusied ribs, and her pain had been lessened considerably. She left Bastien there and walked down the hall to the bathroom, removing the bandages around her face. The poultice had done just what it had said it would; her pain was lessened, but the look was just the same. She applied more of the poultice, re-bandaged herself, and returned to her room, grabbing what little she had and putting on her boots.

Let's go she said simply, wiping the single tear from the good side of her face before walking out of the room and heading to the Library proper.

A female drake lingered silently in the shadows nearby the door of the library, golden eyes riveted on the other two in the room. Bastien, of course, was rather familiar to her eyes, as well as Alexandra. What has happened since I have been gone? It hadn't seemed to be so long since she had left, but she knew that it had been longer than she could have imagined. If the bandages on Alex's face were of any clue, she had missed something terrible. My old firefly catching buddy... She bit her bottom lip, her drake tail curling out from behind her to glance around her lower figure and peer at Alex, it's golden eyes quite obvious in the normally concealing shadow. Just as she was about to step out of the covering, however, the sound of rapid footsteps caused her to gasp and glance towards the door.

Draco was in the room within a few seconds of his footsteps being heard, nearly slamming the door shut behind him. "Alex? Alexandra? Are you here?" he called, turning from closing the door. "Ale-" His words were instantly cut off when his eyes fell on the Fire drake as she walked into the room, her icy brother near to her. The latter was noticed by him, however, as he slowly crossed the floor towards Alex. What had happened to her face? What had that disgusting fiend done to her that would require a bandage? Resisting the urge to touch her cheek and gently probe it to see what was the matter, Draco moved his eyes to look down into her own. "What's happened?" he asked, his voice now so soft that many would have to strain to hear him. The fact that his sister was lingering near the shut door was completely lost on him as he lightly reached forward to rest a hand on Alexandra's waist.

Alex was glad to see him and leaned against him greatfully. She was making a show of being strong for Bastien, but . . . she couldn't keep it up for too long. She backed off slowly and unwrapped the bandage.

It was acid, the stuff he left on my face she explained, trying to keep the tears from rising to her eyes as she anxiously awaited his reaction. She hoped he wouldn't leave her . . . Please don't let him leave . . . she thought.

Draco drew in a quick breath when his eyes landed on her cheek. His face was simply impassive now, though his chin was set and his grip on her waist growing slightly tighter. He reached forward with his free hand and lightly trailed his fingertips down the spot, a simple feather-light touch. "He did this...to you?" he whispered, his eyes slowly narrowing as he barely resisted the urge to go after that...that thing at that very moment. His hand rested on her neck, where it had stopped, and he merely moved his eyes to look into her emerald ones. He slowly lowered his head until his lips were just slightly apart from her own. "You are still the most beautiful drake that I have ever known." With those words softly whispered, he placed a soft kiss on her lips, not longer than a second. "I'll rip him apart for causing you that pain." he murmured when he had lifted his head again, his eyes growing as hard as the slate that those gray orbs resembled.

Linath turned her eyes from the two towards Bastien as she stepped out of the shadows, moving quietly until she stood nearby him. "Are you glad you came back?" she asked softly. She had simply followed the Ice drake when he had left to come home, and now she was very happy that she had. She looped her arms over her chest loosely, looking back over at Alexandra and Draco. It would seem that her brother had finally lost his heart. 'Bout time. she thought, resisting the urge to smirk a bit. If he wasn't so pigheaded, he would've noticed someone like Alex long ago.

She shivered softly when he traced the mark of the acid as it was still tender, but he was gentle. It had been a rough day and she was simply flodded with relief that he hadn't rejected her and then her heart melted at his remark, and then, all of a sudden, he was really close and had kissed her. She gazed up at him in happy shock and smiled, leaning into him and resting her head on his shoulder. She didn't say anything at his remark, but was inwardly worried. She hoped he wouldn't get himself hurt in the process . . .

Just be careful, my love she said, saying the words out loud for the first time, though she had sent them by butterfly before.

Bastien looked up, a bit surprised at Linath's presence. He hadn't expected her to follow him . . . maybe she really would warm up to the idea of coming with him . . . oh, and Avo, of course, if the guy agreed. Still, he re-focused himself and nodded in response to his question, his dark blue skin standing out like a thorn in the more realistic library.

Defiantely. He's the one that injured F- um, a friend of mine, and I'll have my revenge on him for the pain he caused her and Alex he said, his gaze softening slightly at the sight of his sister. The thought with a bemused smile how Harry felt about them, but realized that Harry was mated to Draco's sister, so he assumed the trade off had been fair.

"Will you remain here?" he asked softly, seeming to be completely oblivious to the presence of the other two drakes in the library. Now that he had her, Draco wanted for Alexandra to remain and be safe. In fact, the prospect of forbidding her to leave was looking incredibly tempting to him. The more sane part of his brain berated himself, however, and reminded him that she could make her own decisions. He lightly stroked her hair, eyes tracing the curve of her chin. Please, please, let her stay... he prayed, though to what he honestly wasn't sure.

Linath, who had looked to Bastien as he spoke, now turned her eyes to look at the two standing not too far away with a small smile of her own. "It's about time, don't you think?" she asked softly, as if worried of disturbing the two of them. It took her a moment to realize, however, that perhaps he hadn't been here long enough to see their feelings for each other. She blinked, looking back at him again. "He's had a thing for her for a bit of time, at least. I always thought that she felt the same way."
PostPosted: Mon Sep 04, 2006 5:35 pm

Bastien sighed and shook his head. Not always he said softly, looking over at her now. She had been his first love and, even though they shared no blood relation, there had been a rule made that no Drakes living in the same household could wed, and they had had an argument, and . . . one thing had lead to another and he had left, though not because of the argument, directly, at least.

Alex looked up at him, concern flashing across her face for an instant as she realized that she now had his feelings to take into account. Of course he'd prefer if she stayed in the library and stayed safe but . . . she was one of the better fighters and would have made it to the semi-finals, possibly, had her opponent show up. She could not dissappoint her family and the rest of the Drakes now.

I . . . I must fight in this tournament, Draco she said softly, her voice quiet. She only hoped he could understand . . .

Linath furrowed her brow a bit, looking back to Bastien and studying his profile for a time. Of course, she didn't think that Alex had always had a thing for Draco...her words had once again caused her to put her foot in her mouth. The way that he sighed, though, caused her to blink. He hadn't had a thing for Alex, had he? It took her a moment of putting things together in her brain before the air left her lungs in a sudden rush out her slightly agape jaw. He had had a thing for Alex, hadn't he? It was something nearly unfathomable for her. When she looked at Draco and Drathir, she never felt herself even being attracted to them, much less feeling something beyond sibling feelings for them. Her eyes went back to Alex and Draco. To each his own.

Draco's eyes were instantly worried. It would seem that he was finding it harder and harder to control his feelings whenever he was around her. "You're fighting in the tournament?" His voice had escalated a little in volume. "You...you can't! What if you get hurt?" His heart was beating faster, as if it would pound easily out of his chest. His hand had paused on her hair now as he stared down at her, trying to calm herself down. If he didn't succeed, he knew that he could end up screaming at this girl, and effectively drive her off.
PostPosted: Tue Sep 05, 2006 10:28 am

Alex sighed.

I am already hurt; it's of no consequence. If, however, I don't fight and am simply killed in cold blood, as seems his way, it's a much less honorable way to go, and I will fight for Celeste she said. She could hardly call the lass her child anymore, but in her heart, she would always be her little girl.

Bastien sighed as he heard these words and turned to Linath.

Ummmm, shall we take a walk? he asked, more to get out of the presence of Draco and Alex while they had their discussion/argument than anything else.

Linath, who had averted her eyes from the pair at Alexandra's eyes, gave a quick nod of her head. "Yes, let's." she said quite softly, obviously wanting to give her brother and what appeared to be his girlfriend a bit of privacy. She turned, head tilted downward, and moved towards the door of the library. "We should head towards the Shadowdome, in fact?" She turned her head to glance over her shoulder at the Ice drake with a curious expression, her hands clasped together behind her back as she exited the library.

Draco continued to stare down at Alex, hands shifting to lightly lay on her shoulders. He shifted so that he could look into her eyes, his own softening as soon as he met her own. For a bit, he was silent, simply drinking in the sight of her. The thought that she felt the same way about him as he felt about her was still something completely unfathomable. Really, the burn on her cheek mattered very little. He still thought her amazingly gorgeous. "If you're sure...then we should go soon." As Linath and Bastien had made their way out, he wasn't at all afraid to tilt his head down and plant another soft kiss on her lips. He pulled back, only a breath away from her lips, and spoke softly. "In fact, we should go now." He lightly grasped her hand and led her out of the library, heading towards the Shadowdome.

[EDIT] ((Edited for the sake of getting everyone to the Shadowdome. xD))
